Coming together to fight COVID-19. Two guests from the Town of Amherst, MA joined the podcast to talk about their COVID-19 Ambassadors Program. Her creative process is fascinating to watch on instagram and combines beauty, passion , intuition and invites us all to heal through her artwork.  Danielle Festa first began exploring the dimensions of personality constructs developed by clothing at the University of Amherst Massachusetts as a Fine Arts major. In her thesis work, she started incorporating textiles in combination with her traditional oil painting techniques. Since graduating in 2007, she has been painting and exhibiting in the New England area. Recently, she has moved to a studio at the Washington Street Mills in Dover, NH after working out of Somerville, MA for nearly a decade. Experimenting with the mixed media application of fabrics and oil paints, she continues to develop her evolving theme: the perception of dress. Danielle has shown her work in over 40 exhibitions from the Boston area to New York City to Oslo, 14 of which were solo shows in non-commercial galleries. Matthew Andrews is a writer, musician, entrepreneur, spiritual activist, and yoga teacher. He is co-owner of Yoga Center Amherst, which has had an average of about 1400 class attendances per month since 2016. He has completed 500+ hours of yoga teacher training, has co-taught several Embodyoga teacher trainings, and has organized and led eight yoga-oriented retreats in North and South India, with over 150 total attendees. Matthew's spiritual path has developed in the midst of a rich, full life. Before owning Yoga Center Amherst, he was Senior Director of State Operations for Best Buddies International, responsible for over 100 employees and a $12 million annual budget. And he is currently President of the Board of Directors for Auroville International, USA, which supports the International Township of Auroville in South India. In 2020 he co-founded Reparations for Amherst Massachusetts, which worked with Town Councilors to pass a resolution apologizing for slavery and is now building a fund to pay material reparations. Matthew first traveled to India in 2000, and since then he has been on a quest to understand and embody the teachings of yoga. He has studied ancient and modern texts and traveled to India ten times, but his most significant learnings have come through the embodied guidance of his guru GurujiMa. Matthew is also a singer and songwriter, and in 2020 he released an album of sacred music called Let It Open. We spoke about the unpopular, late-game take foul with no play on the ball, which is usually by rule an intentional foul (F1.) We touched on our natural hesitancy to upgrade this foul and also talked about treating your primary like your backyard. While out at the PSA Cardinals showcase in December we bumped into Marquette assistant coach Dwayne Killings and finally got a chance to break bread with the homie. Dwayne, an Amherst, MA, product walked onto the Minutemen's squad at UMass and played under coach Bruiser Flint for several years. After completing his education and playing career at Hampton University, he jumped into the NBA to serve the Charlotte Bobcats in the video department. He's been an assistant coach at Temple, UConn and most recently landed as an assistant beside coach Steve Wojciechowski at Marquette. Ken Rosenthal is one of the founders of Hampshire College in Amherst Massachusetts. Known for its innovative approach to education, Hampshire announced in 2018 that it was facing a financial crisis and that it was not going to admit a full-class in the fall of 2019. In April 2019, Rosenthal was appointed interim president. The future of Hampshire, like many small liberal arts colleges, is in question.

While in graduate school he was particularly interested in interdisciplinary studies. At the University of Chicago he worked in religion & psychological studies, the history of religions, anthropology, human development and clinical psychology. Erika Fromm, Ph.D. a noted hypnoanalyst, served as his primary clinical mentor–a relationship that spanned 35 years.   Dr. Brown has taught hypnotherapy for 38 years. His books on hypnosis include a standard textbook on clinical hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and Hypnoanalysis (with E. Fromm), Hypnosis and Behavioral Medicine (with E. Fromm), and Creative Mastery in Hypnosis and Hypnoanalysis, on the permissive style of hypnotherapy. Shalini believes that mindfulness – the ability to be present, compassionate, and curious in each moment - is the foundation for breaking out of autopilot and being the change we want to see in our own lives and in the world.  Shalini creates mindfulness-based curricula and programs for business students and organizations for sustainable growth and well being of all stakeholders. She has created an online community, Mindful Universe, to support people and professionals interested in living mindfully.Shalini has lived and worked in three countries as a chartered accountant, exporter, academic, marketing consultant, and now mindfulness consultant. She completed her Ph.D. in marketing from UMass, Amherst MA and professional training in mindfulness at The Center for Mindfulness, UMass Medical School. Her research on topics of self-awareness and mindfulness in consumer behavior has been published in top marketing journals and several book chapters.Shalini has been practicing meditation for over a decade and devloped curricula for workshops on Mindfulness at work.  She is currently writing a book on mind
