Big changes in the Carpool today. Not only has the release schedule changed, but so has Lizz's hair! Which one is the bigger news? We're not sure, but Kelly does think Lizz can go shorter. Lizz only thinks it looks good with a hat on. In good news, Kelly is feeling like herself again and has gone full force in cultivating fall vibes. It's all about apple cider donuts, chili and football... in 81 degree weather... Plus, she's organizing the toys and feels really good about it. Kelly and Lizz are headed on a road trip to speak at a women's conference and are the two podcasters to do so! Sounds about right when you have the #2 automotive podcast. Speaking of automotive, there is a lot of juicy Industry News. Toyota has a recall, the 10 best selling EVs of 2025 and apparently Paris has an auto show! Should that be the next Car Mom trip? In Ditch the Drive-Thru, Lizz is literally ditching the drive-thru now that she is back in her own home. She made steak freezer burritos and they are a winner! Finally, it is time to celebrate the lives of the little ones gone too soon with Blake's Besties. Today, Kelly and Lizz share the stories of Teddy and Wyatt. Plus, a beautiful letter from a Labor and Delivery nurse. Today's episode is brought to you by Clean Simple Eats. Use code 'Carpool10' at checkout to get 10% off your order. CleanSimpleEats.com

From $150 million in exotic cars managed by college students to the plush comfort of a six-figure luxury SUV, this episode of In Wheel Time takes you on a journey through the fascinating intersections of automotive education and innovation.Katrina Ness, the 62nd general chair of the Northwood University International Auto Show, joins us to discuss what might be the most unique automotive event in America. As a fourth-year student pursuing her MBA, Katrina leads what she describes as "an organization with the most turnover" - a completely student-run auto show featuring hypercars, racing vehicles, and nearly every automotive brand imaginable. With minimal faculty oversight, these 20-something students are entrusted with approximately $150 million worth of automotive assets, including a Bugatti Mistral fresh from Europe and a LaFerrari previously owned by Drake.Beyond the jaw-dropping vehicle lineup, we explore how Northwood University's specialized automotive marketing and management program prepares students for industry careers through hands-on experience. Katrina candidly shares how managing such a massive event has taught her as much about anxiety management as automotive marketing - skills that transcend the classroom and prepare students for real-world challenges. We then shift gears to examine the 2025 Lexus LX600, a luxury SUV that combines opulence with surprising performance. Despite replacing the traditional V8 with a turbocharged V6, this seven-passenger behemoth delivers 409 horsepower and can tow 8,000 pounds while improving fuel efficiency. From its signature oversized spindle grille to unexpected features like a center console that doubles as a refrigerator, we explore what makes this $114,500 vehicle stand out in the crowded luxury SUV market.Whether you're fascinated by the next generation of automotive professionals or shopping for your next luxury vehicle, this episode offers unique insights into both the present and future of car culture. The Automotive Troublemaker w/ Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier
Shoot us a Text.Episode #1023: From tariff talk taking over the New York Auto Show to Toyota rethinking RAV4 production, and LiveWire's electric leap into law enforcement—we've got you covered.Show Notes with links:Automakers came to New York looking to celebrate new vehicles, but found themselves answering the same old questions—about tariffs. Despite flashy debuts and high-octane reveals, the weight of trade policy loomed over every conversation.Subaru U.S. chief Jeff Walters debuted the all-new Outback, only to field immediate questions about tariffs instead of the vehicle.Nissan embraced the tension with a tongue-in-cheek window decal reading “FREE from new tariffs” on its U.S.-built models. They also revealed plans to build 80% of U.S. inventory domestically, up from 50%, citing flexibility amid tariff volatility.Tariffs dominated nearly every conference panel, with one moderator finally pausing and saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, the bar is open.” It was 10 a.m.Our friend John Bozzella of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation called for more time and flexibility, warning that rushed tariff policy could mean “increased prices and a slowing of sales.” “The key is time for adjustment,” Bozzella said. “This is a massive industry.”Toyota is reevaluating its production strategy for the next-gen RAV4, exploring a shift to U.S. manufacturing as a hedge against 25% import tariffs and currency swings.Toyota sold over 475,000 RAV4s in the U.S. last year—its most popular model, making up 20% of its U.S. volume.Originally planned for export from Japan and Canada, U.S. production in Kentucky is now under serious consideration. The shift would help meet expected demand and mitigate tariff-related costs, with potential U.S. output beginning in 2027.While plans aren't final, Toyota noted it “continually studied ways to improve its manufacturing” but declined to confirm speculation.LiveWire, the electric spin-off from Harley-Davidson, is getting into the public service game with a new line of police-spec electric motorcycles. The new fleet includes emergency lighting, sirens, and reinforced mounts, tailored for urban patrol, motorcades, and event security.Benefits include low maintenance, silent operation, and instant torque—ideal for quick maneuvering through tight city traffic.Custom ride modes, regenerative braking, and one-handed operation aim to reduce officer fatigue and improve shift efficiency.Police departments can choose from a suite of configurations, reinforcing the model's flexibility in law enforcement roles.Join Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/
