Grab a beer and join us tonight as we continue our series on the death of John O'Keefe and the trials of Karen Read! In Part 2, we'll get into the evidence itself, starting with John's phone. Then the autopsy and the fight over what actually killed him, the dog the Alberts rehomed a few months later, and the broken taillight that the state's whole case leans on. And we'll get into the video out of the Canton police garage, and why the defense says pieces of that taillight kept turning up days after anybody should have found them. https://www.necronomipod.com https://www.patreon.com/necronomipod Sponsored by Boll & Branch: https://www.bollandbranch.com/necro Sponsored by BetterHelp: https://www.betterhelp.com/necro Learn more about your ad choices. Am I the Jerk? is the show where you can confess your deepest darkest secrets and be part of the conversation.
When we teach children to trust their feelings, we give them one of the most powerful tools they'll ever have for staying safe. In this important conversation, Ginny sits down with attorney, child wellness advocate, and author Joy Stevenson-Laws to explore why feelings—not rules—are often a child's first line of defense. Inspired by her own family's experience, Joy explains how children process the world through emotions long before they can fully understand logic, and why validating those feelings can create the trust children need to speak up when something doesn't feel right. Together they discuss Joy's new picture book, Secrets That Sparkle and Secrets That Sting, a beautifully written resource that helps families distinguish between joyful, harmless secrets and unsafe secrets that should always be shared with a trusted adult. They also explore practical ways parents can foster meaningful conversations, help children recognize what their bodies are telling them, and create homes where every feeling is welcomed without shame or dismissal. This episode is an encouraging reminder that emotional awareness isn't about raising fearful children—it's about raising confident, connected kids who know their voices matter. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, or caregiver, you'll come away with practical tools to strengthen trust, deepen communication, and help children develop the lifelong skill of listening to their intuition. What happens after the miracle? Paralympic gold medalist, ESPN broadcaster, Dancing with the Stars finalist, and bestselling author Victoria Arlen joins Ginny Yurich for one of the most honest conversations she's ever had about life after survival. Victoria shares the unimaginable story of spending four years trapped inside her own body with two rare neurological conditions before relearning how to walk, swim, and ultimately compete on the world stage. But this conversation goes beyond the comeback story. Victoria opens up about the hidden cost of trauma, the pressure of being called an inspiration, the mental health struggles that followed her incredible achievements, and why writing her new book, The View Is Worth It, became so important. Together, Ginny and Victoria explore forgiveness, faith, burnout, learning to rest, and how healing often begins long after everyone else thinks you're "better." Victoria also reflects on the profound role her mother played throughout her journey, how childhood memories of Lake Winnipesaukee became a lifeline during years of being locked inside her body, and why the outdoors can provide hope that lasts a lifetime. This is a moving conversation about resilience, purpose, and discovering that sometimes the greatest victory isn't overcoming adversity, it's learning to simply be present and embrace the beauty that's been there all along. What if your self-worth is shaping what you're able to manifest? In this episode, Krista sits down with To Be Magnetic's Chief Content Officer Jessica Gill to unpack the patterns behind money, abundance, relationships, and the subconscious blocks that may be keeping you from what you truly want. From attracting more money to calling in your soulmate, Jessica reveals why your nervous system needs to feel safe enough to hold your next level. What if raising capable, confident children could feel less like a constant power struggle, and more like a partnership? In this episode, Ginny welcomes Simone Davies, Montessori educator and co-author of The Montessori Baby, The Montessori Toddler, and The Montessori Child, for the podcast's first-ever conversation about Montessori parenting. Simone explains how Montessori principles can be used at home to help children grow in independence, responsibility, curiosity, and confidence. She shares why parents are meant to be guides rather than bosses or servants, how a thoughtfully prepared environment can reduce nagging and conflict, and why slowing down gives children the time they need to explore, practice, solve problems, and develop at their own pace. They also explore the four major stages of childhood, from birth through age 24, including the often-overlooked stability and enormous intellectual capacity of children ages six to twelve. Simone offers practical ideas for following a child's interests, involving them in real family life, supporting hands-on learning, and preparing them for the gradual independence of adolescence and young adulthood. This encouraging conversation is a reminder that children are far more capable than we often assume, and that parenting can become more peaceful when we learn to observe, trust, guide, and let go. When someone you care about is grieving, the pressure to say the right thing can be paralyzing. You want to help, but you don't want to make it worse. In this episode, I break down exactly what to say—and what not to say—when someone is dealing with profound loss. We cover why "let me know if you need anything" actually creates more burden for the grieving person, how to eliminate open-ended questions that force them to manage your emotions, and why false positivity is the fastest way to push them away. I'll give you the exact words and actions that show up for people in their darkest moments without requiring them to ask for permission. These books allowed her to understand herself on a deeper level, shift her mindset, and see her patterns, relationships, and growth in a completely new way. Ahead, hear about the lessons + teachings that shaped Krista's personal growth, emotional healing, and self-discovery journey. From attachment styles to spirituality, intuition, and self-worth, these books offer powerful tools for becoming more connected to yourself. Krista explores why self-awareness is the foundation for change, how to stop self-sabotaging the life you want, and what it means to trust yourself more deeply. We also talk about: Why we self-sabotage when life starts getting really good The “upper limit problem” + expanding your capacity for love, success, and abundance Reclaiming the wild woman within + trusting your intuition without outside validation How people-pleasing can become a form of self-betrayal What your relationship with food can reveal about control, numbing, and receiving Anxious, avoidant, and secure attachment in romantic relationships + friendships Choosing love over fear + shifting the way you perceive your reality Staying powerful during conflict without becoming hardened Resources: Instagram: @itskrista Website: https://itskrista.com/ Sponsors: Hero Bread | Hero Bread is offering 10% off your order. ⚠️ Trigger warning: This episode contains references to childhood abuse, parental alcoholism, and the death of a parent from alcohol-related illness. Most of us were never taught how to give ourselves grace about drinking, only how to judge ourselves for it. Kelly and Amber are proof that the shame and guilt show up no matter how different the situation looks. For Kelly, it shows up after a weekend of drinking that went further than she planned. For Amber, it shows up the moment someone she's dating asks why she's not drinking, and a much older fear takes over. Kelly discusses: Why her biggest data point yet, a full night out at a friend's timeshare, left her more unsettled than any smaller one had The real difference between "I've proven I can" drink moderately and "I've proven I can" have a great time without it Why Coach Hayley adds the word "yet" every time Kelly says she can't figure out why she drinks Admitting she's skipped a Path call because she didn't want to say out loud that she'd had a fun night of drinking Using the ACT technique on the belief "it's part of my culture," and what that opens up Amber discusses: Why she can turn down a drink at work without blinking but freezes the second a date asks why she doesn't drink The exact body sensation she calls "bracing for impact," and the part Coach Cole admits he carries too Asking the part of her that calls itself broken what it's actually trying to protect her from The Sharon Salzberg line about meditation that becomes her new mantra for catching herself mid-spiral The exact phrase Amber swaps in for "I'm broken," and why it changes how she shows up on a date And more… Ready to take the next step? Am I the Jerk? is the show where you can confess your deepest darkest secrets and be part of the conversation.
Movement isn't a distraction from learning—it's one of the ways children learn best. In this conversation, Ginny sits down with educator and author Mike Huber to explore why rough-and-tumble—or "whole body"—play is one of childhood's most misunderstood and essential experiences. Drawing from decades of classroom experience and research, Mike explains how movement helps children develop self-regulation, social awareness, empathy, confidence, and even the ability to focus and learn. Together, they unpack the difference between healthy risk and hidden hazards, why today's children often lack meaningful agency over their own movement, and how physical play teaches kids to read nonverbal cues, build trust, assess risk, and strengthen friendships. They also discuss why fidgeting and movement are often signs that the brain is trying to regain focus—not evidence that a child isn't paying attention. Whether you're a parent, teacher, or caregiver, this episode offers a compelling case for embracing movement instead of suppressing it—and practical encouragement for raising children who are confident, capable, and deeply connected to both their bodies and the world around them. We get into why this song feels so healing, the surprising Grease connection, why "graffiti my whole damn life" might be one of the best lyrics on the album, and of course we somehow end up talking about pet names, bad dating stories, and the names we'd never want to be called.Plus we hear from listeners with some amazing episode ideas, a wedding story that accidentally became Taylor-coded, and one Swiftie from Scotland who absolutely made our day.Let us know...what's your favorite lyric from Honey?THIS EPISODE IS SPONSORED BY BETTERHELP Our listeners get 10% off their first month at http://BetterHelp.com/TAYLORSWIFTFAN.THIS EPISODE IS SPONSORED BY QUINCE Upgrade your everyday. This week on 2 Bears, 1 Cave, Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer compare their two very different eras of being fat, Tom's custom-made fat guy shirts, hard visceral fat vs. soft fat, and why losing weight made everyone think Tom got lip injections. Bert's sober documentary binge takes them from Patient Zero "Gay Tom" spreading AIDS across the Air Canada route map to Concorde pricing scams. Tom also reveals the fattest thing he's ever seen Bert do: ten appetizers, four entrées, and twenty doubles in Tallahassee. Bert also retells Bill Hader's retelling of Henry Rollins meeting David Lee Roth, and his daughter's instantly legendary Boston Tea Party take. Then things get real: a midlife crisis YouTube video sends Bert and LeeAnn into a "sell everything and get five apartments in five cities" fantasy, LeeAnn gets brutally honest about when she was happiest, and Tom breaks down the difference between happy and content. Plus: Hulk Hogan inflating Andre the Giant's weight, Julian's belt reaction to the Michael Jackson movie, Whoop resting heart rate brags, Craig Robinson's dunk, and the great first sweat vs. last sweat debate. 2 Bears, 1 Cave Ep. 334 https://tomsegura.com/tourhttps://www.bertbertbert.com/tourhttps://store.ymhstudios.com Chapters 00:00:00 - Intro00:00:52 - Fat Tommy Vs Skinny Tom00:09:16 - Patient Zero, Polio, & The Concorde00:19:38 - The Fattest Thing Tom Ever Saw Bert Do00:23:55 - Bill Hader, David Lee Roth & Boston Tea Party00:32:21 - Hulk Hogan, Macho Man & LeeAnn Off Leash00:36:37 - Five Apartments In Five Cities00:46:12 - Bert's Midlife Crisis Theory00:54:34 - "You're Not Hitting The Notes, Mike"00:57:05 - Whoop Brags & Craig Robinson Dunking01:02:36 - Wrap Up Learn more about your ad choices. If you feel like you and your friends or you and your significant other are struggling with communication lately, keep listening. This episode is for you. As we talk about the importance of community, one of the fastest things to trip us up is communication. Think about how often miscommunication or lack of communication is the root problem in a disagreement or riff with your people. Author and therapist Jason VanRuler is here to help us better understand our communication type. It gives us such a better look into why we may act certain ways in friendships, relationships, at work. Jason has a new book out called Discovering Your Communication Type, so you're going to want to grab a copy of this. It's so good! We continue today's conversation with you over on spirituallystronger.com - so please join a whole community of us over there as we unpack this together. Find the show notes here . . . .
