Episode 60: Finding Joy and Purpose Through Obedience with Krystal Hunsucker About Our Guest Krystal Hunsucker is a vibrant woman of faith who brings energy and authenticity to everything she does. Here's a little more about her: Boy mom to two sons (ages 5 and 9) Mary Kay Sales Director since 2002 (working her business for 25 years) Professional emcee and public speaker Passionate about worship music and singing Lives in McKinney, Texas with her husband Brad and their two sons Krystal grew up in Abilene, Texas before finishing high school and college in Oklahoma (she's a proud Sooner!). She loves makeup, fashion, sparkles, and her signature "color" is literally color – she embraces brightness in all aspects of life! Episode Highlights: Rhythms That Restore In this special one-year anniversary episode, Krystal shares how she's discovered rhythms that restore her mind, heart, body, and spirit through various seasons of life. Her story beautifully illustrates how finding peace and joy through obedience to God creates sustainable rhythms of rest and renewal. Finding Her Purpose Early At just 21-22 years old, Krystal read "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren, which helped her identify her life's purpose: "to lead and inspire and encourage women." This purpose has guided her life's direction, and she's seen how God has consistently placed her in positions to fulfill this calling. Daily Rhythms That Restore Krystal maintains her spiritual growth and finds daily restoration through: Following The Bible Recap (she's in her third year using it) Leading Bible study Weekly church attendance Worship music that realigns her heart Teaching her boys by example Finding quiet time in her car (her "peace filling spot") Viewing each day as an opportunity for "daily bread" rather than trying to plan too far ahead Her Faith Journey While Krystal grew up in church, she experienced a powerful "wrangling" moment during her junior year of college. She had drifted from her spiritual foundation and was in an unhealthy relationship when her boyfriend unexpectedly suggested attending a Shane & Shane concert. There, she had a profound Holy Spirit encounter that left her in tears throughout the concert. A week later, she ended the relationship, and "everything changed" in her life. Lessons in Obedience and Surrender Krystal shared powerful examples of how obedience to God has blessed her life: Dating journey: She remained patient and selective for over 10 years, writing out Proverbs 31 with her name in it, creating a detailed list of qualities she sought in a partner, and going on many first dates while being obedient to not "waste time with the wrong person" She met her husband Brad on a blind date at age 33 and married at 34 Parenting her youngest son: She described the indescribable blessings that came through fully surrendering and obeying God's guidance God's Movement in Her Life Krystal and Brad have been married for almost 11 years and have two sons. She shared a beautiful perspective: "I am truly and honestly feel like I am living my dream," though she sometimes has to remind herself to fully embrace and enjoy this season of life that she worked so hard for. Advice to Her Younger Self Although she was blessed with great parents and natural confidence as a child, Krystal would remind her younger self to keep seeking God during seasons of doubt, remembering that "obedience creates peace, even when it's not easy." Krystal's Challenge to Listeners "Daily seek Him. I don't know what that looks like for each person but figure out what moves you. On the days you don't feel moved or on the busy days when the day slips by and it's been one or two days since you've dug into the Word, get back to what you know to do. Whether it's worship music, prayer writing, listening to the Bible, reading the Bible, a podcast, or a sermon - there are so many options. Whatever fills your soul with Him, do it and then do it again until on the days you don't, you wake up the following day hungry and ready to return." Resources Mentioned The Bible Recap (Tara-Leigh Cobble's Bible reading plan and podcast) "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren John Gordon's work John Maxwell's books Worship music: "Worthy is the Lamb" and Forrest Frank's "God is Good" Shane & Shane's music Connect with Krystal Visit: http://vipeurl.com/1rgud3d Support the Rhythms That Restore Podcast This episode celebrates the one-year anniversary of the Rhythms That Restore podcast (Episode 60)! The past two weeks I've been to New York with Katie bae (funniest trip of my entire life), I then went to Tampa for a little secret, which turned into a bigger secret due to me (chad) somehow developing a crush on a man in a bar. Unfortunately, but fortunate for me I fear the men cleanse is over... catch me saging my house though cause I'm not letting these h0es ruin the best years of my life. #staysingle #staywoke #staymakingmoves especially the first. Chaz and AJ had audio from a news report, of a 9-year-old performing the Heimlich manuever on his choking friend at school. Despite the potentially life-saving decision, Chaz says this kid is no hero. (0:00) In Dumb Ass News, a woman was set off by a simple honk, and jumped onto the windshield of another car while threatening to kill the driver. (14:42) A debate has broken out online, between social media influencers and state rep Josh Elliott. Josh was on with Chaz and AJ to explain the proposal is not really about influencers, and is instead a protective measure for consumers. (23:09) Comedian Emily Siero was in studio this morning, to talk about her first ever blind date. Brendan the milkman had called in to Chaz and AJ to invite her out, and Vince Berry was there to chaperone. So, how did it go? (38:06)

Margo is joined by independent filmmaker and writer Courtney Daniels to discuss the joys and challenges of creating outside the Hollywood studio system. Courtney shares her journey from writing spec scripts as a receptionist at Warner Brothers to producing her own feature films, including What Other Couples Do. She opens up about the power of not waiting for validation, making films on a budget, and turning her latest screenplay, A Blind Date in NYC, into a short novel. Together, they explore the freedom of independent creativity and why success comes from taking action rather than waiting to be chosen.
