This episode with Daniel Radigan is one I have been looking forward to for a while. Danny is a 3L at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a finalist for Rhetoric's Moot Court Madness competition. Danny takes us down his journey, from growing up in Cleveland to playing Division I soccer as a goalie at Duquesne University, to working for his distant cousin Scott Lynch at a small probate firm in Chardon, Ohio, that ultimately sold him on going to law school. What stands out about Danny is just how much he has taken advantage of his time in law school. He has stacked clerkships and externships at the Milton Kramer Law Clinic, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and a summer associate position at Porter Wright, all leading up to a summer at Baker Hostetler and a federal clerkship lined up after graduation with a Judge in Pittsburgh, who he actually took a pre-law class with as a junior in undergrad. A full-circle moment if there ever was one. Danny also gets into his love of moot court, his thoughts on AI in legal writing, and his honest take on using Cicero throughout the Moot Court Madness competition. This was a fantastic conversation with a guy who is clearly going to make a great attorney one day!Danny's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-radiganBe sure to check out the Official Sponsors for the Lawyers in the Making Podcast:Rhetoric - Empowers your teaching and training with AI that strengthens learning, protects integrity, and proves authentic understanding, for students and professionals alike, with CICERO. In this heartfelt episode of Chardon BIZ, Dave Nelson sits down with his brother, Kevin Nelson, for an honest conversation about the journey behind Chardon Performance Therapy.Dave shares the story of how the business began—from the early vision of creating a better physical therapy experience to the risks, setbacks, and lessons that shaped the company along the way. He reflects on the grind of entrepreneurship, the importance of staying committed during uncertain seasons, and what it took to build trust in the community. The conversation also explores how the company evolved from a traditional clinic model into what Chardon Performance Therapy is today: a performance-driven practice focused on helping active adults, athletes, and families move better, get stronger, and return confidently to the life they love.More than a business story, this episode is about family, resilience, and building something meaningful through consistency, care, and a commitment to serving others. It offers listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the mission, mindset, and growth of one of Chardon's standout local businesses.

In this bonus episode of the Autocar podcast, editor Mark Tisshaw meets the recently appointed boss of Citroën, to hear how this iconic French brand will inject its "DNA and spirit" into its upcoming cars. Ahead of a big brand showcase in December, Xavier Chardon gives us clues about his battle plan, which includes a tight line-up of spacious, comfortable cars - and maybe even an e-2CV! Send us a textFall beer season brings a perfect excuse to explore the spectrum of autumnal flavors, and we're diving headfirst into two distinctive brews that couldn't be more different yet equally impressive. The Brew Kettle's Pumpkin Drop Lager offers a refreshing take on the pumpkin beer formula. At 5% ABV, this Ohio-based brew delivers authentic pumpkin flavor without overwhelming your palate with excessive cinnamon—a common pitfall of seasonal offerings. We discuss how some breweries (like 311 in Chardon) go to extraordinary lengths for pumpkin authenticity, literally dumping entire 21-inch pumpkin pies—crust and all—into their brewing tanks. The mental image of brewers struggling to upend these massive pies brings as much joy as the perfectly balanced flavors in our glasses.Switching gears dramatically, we sample Hoofhearted Brewing's Club Paradise, an 8% ABV tiki-inspired sour ale that combines pineapple, coconut, strawberry, lime, and vanilla into something truly special. Despite its complex ingredient list, the predominant strawberry note harmonizes beautifully with subtle cookie-like undertones, earning this adventurous brew a perfect 10/10 from both hosts. At $20 for a four-pack, it's definitely a splurge, but one we heartily recommend for sour lovers seeking something extraordinary.Beyond the beers themselves, we take a hilarious detour through Hoofhearted's irreverent website, marveling at their outrageously named brews and creative can designs. From "Combat Spandex" to "Key Bump" and beyond, their artistic approach to beer branding deserves recognition even if you never taste a drop. Pair all this with our recurring "Ricky's Bad Choices" segment (featuring confessions about shoplifting, suspended licenses, and ill-advised gambling), and you've got an episode as complex and satisfying as the beverages in our glasses.Support the showwww.anotherreasontodrink.com
Presentatie: Robert Denneman Foto: FEI/Massimo Argenziano
In this episode of Chardon BIZ, Dave Nelson sits down with Ken Schubert, veteran and owner of Iron Castle Construction Company, a family‑ and veteran‑owned business in Chardon dedicated to small and medium‑scale home renovations—from kitchens and bathrooms to hardwood floors and decks. Ken draws on over 25 years of construction and carpentry experience, sharing how his time leading the Army's “Iron Castle” Engineer Brigade inspired not just the name of his company, but also its commitment to quality, trust, and communication, rooted in service and reliability.Throughout the conversation, Ken opens up about what it takes to balance craftsmanship with responsiveness—how thoughtful attention to every detail, a guarantee of workmanship, and honest communication become the foundation of residential transformation and client trust. He invites listeners into stories of turning sagging, overlooked porches into welcoming entryways and customizing built‑ins with care—all while honoring values forged in leadership and integrity
In this episode of Chardon BIZ, host Dave Nelson sits down with Abbey Blake, from Big Creek Clay, a local clay studio that has become both a creative outlet and a community gathering place in Chardon. The conversation dives into the studio's origin story—how a passion for pottery evolved into a business model centered on accessibility, creativity, and connection. From offering pottery classes and workshops to supplying materials for both beginners and advanced artists, Big Creek Clay shows how art can be a bridge between individual expression and community spirit.Listeners will hear how the studio's founders balance artistry with entrepreneurship, navigating challenges while staying rooted in their mission to foster curiosity and joy in hands-on learning. They share stories of the people who come through their doors—some discovering pottery for the first time, others returning to a long-forgotten passion—and how those experiences ripple outward into the larger Chardon community. At its heart, this episode reflects how local businesses like Big Creek Clay embody presence and resilience. It's about more than clay—it's about shaping spaces where people feel welcomed, supported, and inspired. For business owners, it's also a reminder that leading with authenticity and creativity can spark growth that extends well beyond the walls of a studio.

Music: Soothsayer by BucketheadPart two of Lee Kemp Podcast. Leroy (Lee) P. Kemp, Jr. (born Darnell Freeman; December 24, 1956) is a former American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler. Kemp would achieve success at the high school, collegiate, and international levels.Kemp started wrestling in only the 9th grade at Chardon High School, in Chardon, Ohio and by the end of his high school career had compiled two undefeated seasons, while winning two Ohio state titles. His first state title included wins over the defending state champion and the previous years' state runnerup. Shortly after graduating from high school, Kemp was one of only four American Junior wrestlers that recorded a dual meet win against a tough Junior Soviet team on their Ohio stop of an eight city United States tour, which resulted in 80 total matches being contested. Lee also won the prestigious Junior National Freestyle Tournament in July of that same year defeating a future 3-time NCAA Champion in the finals. While competing for the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Kemp was a four-time NCAA Division I National finalist, winning the championship three times and placing 2nd, on a split referee's decision, as a true freshman at 18 years old. Lee recorded losses to only three wrestlers in his collegiate career. His last college loss was in the NCAA finals as a freshman, posting 110 wins and no losses against collegiate competition during his last three years, which included the historic win over the legendary Dan Gable in November of Lee's sophomore year.[1]Kemp was America's first three-time World Champion, winning his first title in 1978 at age 21, establishing him as the youngest American world champion ever, a distinction he held for 30 years. Lee was a four-time World Cup Champion, 7-time United States Freestyle National Champion and was a heavy favorite for gold earning a berth on the 1980 United States Olympic Freestyle Wrestling Team, but was unable to compete because of the U.S. boycott of the Olympics.Kemp was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in 1990. While at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, where he was one of the freestyle coaches for the U.S., he became just the fifth American to be inducted into the United World Wrestling (formerly known as FILA) Hall of Fame.[2][3]Kemp is the subject of a film documentary, entitled Wrestled Away: The Lee Kemp Story, on his life scheduled for theatrical release Summer 2019, and is the co-founder and President of LKNutrition (formerly FORZA Technologies), a nutritional supplement company. LKNutrition (formerly FORZA) was the official corporate sponsor of USA Wrestling and its national teams.

On March 24, 1997, the Ohio Supreme Court ruled 4-3 in the DeRolph v. State case that Ohio's school funding system was unconstitutional and the Ohio legislature must fix it. It has now been 26 years since that decision came down, meaning two entire 13 year education cycles of kids entering kindergarten through graduating high school have gone through Ohio's public schools without lawmakers making things right. Dan Heintz, a teacher in Chardon who serves on the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school board explains why ongoing voucher expansion schemes cannot coexist with a constitutional public school funding system in our state.
