[EP85] Unexpected English brings you surprising audio with a transcription to help you practice your English listening in less than five minutes. This time, we visit a salt cave for some haloterapy. Come join us! Okay, so I was walking through the mall and I saw a place called The Salt Escape. And it had some... Well, it looked like something I had never seen before. So I thought I would go in and find out a little more. So I'm talking to the... the owner? I'm talking to someone inside who I thought maybe they can tell me... Okay, I'm talking to somebody who could tell me: What is The Salt Escape? The Salt Escape is basically a halotherapy... Hold up... a what therapy? It's halotherapy which is a... Halo, halotherapy... Halo, H-A-L-O as in breathing in salt to cure many different ailments you might have whether it's asthma, colds, sinusitis, allergies, and it also is absorbed through your skin, so it helps with psoriasis... OK, wait wait now, so you tell us what it helps. But what's the deal? Do people go into a room full of salt? Or what is it? OK, so we have a cave... that you... A cave, okay, we're going slow so people can follow, So I come into salt escape, And then I get put in a cave, a salt cave... A salt cave that has 7000 pounds of Himalayan sea salt on the ground. And then there's salt lamps all around and salt on the walls. And then we also pump salt in at different intervals throughout that 45 minutes. Like salt air, you're saying? You pump in salty air? Um-hum, salty air, we take the salt, we put it in a generator that breaks it down into fine little crystal mist, and we pump into the cave while you're there, sitting in lounge chairs relaxing.. not lounge chairs but reclining chairs. I'm just sitting in a room...basically I'm sitting in a room full of salt. Salt. And breathing it and reaping all the benefits that it has to offer. Do.. do I get naked when I do that? Noooo..Oh, and okay, so it'll go through.. We keep it kind of clean in here. OK, so I saw the salt goes through my clothes... and... It goes through your skin, it also, it's absorbed through your skin, but it's the breathing that really helps any respiratory issues that you have. So yeah, so it's primarily as a respiratory... But, but also good through the skin absorbing the skin, if you have any kind of skin issues, it helps with that as well. But it helps with anxiety and depression all kinds of wonderful things. But our, our cave is very, very relaxing. It's dark and quiet and we play meditation music so it's... Ohhh okay don't say it, ohhh, okay, so well, that sounds beautiful! And how long is a session? 45 minutes. So for 45 minutes, I get to sit in the salt cave... and relax... and breathe in. Okay people, well you heard it here first, the, the mysteries and marvels of the salt cave, all are 100% organic Himalayan salt. Alright, thanks and thanks for your time. Thank you! Come visit us! *** Thanks for listening! If you liked it please FOLLOW on Spotify or Apple podcasts or wherever you listen. On the journey of our lives, we are always presented with choices. If we are open to this life and say yes to what comes our way, we have a chance to … maybe … see that small quiet road that might be filled with heart and joy for us instead of whisking right past it and never even know that it, with all its possibilities, was even there. How did a man who was on the team that built the original CNN.com end up in a salt cave in New Hampshire? I've known Daryl Browne since the late 1990s when we worked together at Classroom Connect which was a company focused on using technology in K-12 instruction. This, in the 90s when people were just learning about the internet and using dial-up modems. Daryl and I have always been kindred spirits and have always enjoyed a personal friendship that had nothing to do with technology or instruction, but more about the journey of life we are all on. You'll hear the very interesting story about how Daryl and his wife built Soleil's Salt Cave in Exeter, New Hampshire in 2017 to ease their newborn daughter, Soleil's health journey. With a web development career spanning 25 years, 7 continents, and several Fortune 500 companies, Daryl has applied his technology experience to giving people the most efficient and effective path from start to finish possible. For nearly the same amount of time, Daryl has fostered a vision of creating a body of work that would help people focus on the power of each moment of their own lives. That project has led to bottled messages (literally bottled in Ball-Mason Jars he calls Journey Jars), mixed media art installations, and several books. I'm thrilled to share this conversation with my friend, Daryl Browne, with you. Owner of the Indianapolis Salt Cave Stefanie Patterson thought text could be a good addition to her business, and she was right. The Salt Cave sends a text if they are unable to pick up the phone. Look for the Indianapolis Salt Cave to grow the reach of texting this year with KLaunch.

Join me as I discuss "The Benefits of a Salt Cave" with Renee Knipp-Nelson~ of Mystic Float and Wellness We will explore, halotherapy, as salt therapy is known. The Salt Cave features rooms lined with blocks of Himalayan salt, as a halogenerator blows microparticles of pharmaceutical salt into the air. When inhaled, Himalayan salt emits negative ions that get absorbed by your body, which neutralizes positive ions that come from dust, pollen, electricity and other pollutants. Salt is also known to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties. As you breathe in the salt, it scrubs everything in your respiratory system, from your sinuses all the way to your ear canal, and gets deep into your lungs, loosening up mucus and reducing inflammation. People come in for many reasons, from asthma, allergies, COPD, emphysema, psoriasis and eczema to anything related to skin and respiratory inflammation. Doctors will say you just need to go to the ocean. … This is like the cheapest ticket to the beach. Forty-five minutes sitting in this room is equivalent to three days by the ocean. #009: This week's guest is Kirsten Zinchuk Haley, who lives near Princeton, NJ and is a mom of three children, two daughters (13 and 11) and one son (7). In this episode, Kirsten talks through all three of her birth stories, one cesarean after her breech baby was undetected by her doctor, a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), and finally, a wildly free unmedicated birth using the hypnobirthing technique. Kirsten shares her perspective about the heartbreaking joy of motherhood, the particular love of a son for his mother, what she loves about spending time with her children, and how she cultivates presence in both motherhood and business. Kirsten talks about her work in the healing/arts, why she included a salt cave to be part of her business, and how the spiritual nature of her work inspires her mothering toward curiosity, laughter, and pleasure. She also explains how storytelling can be used to empower and heal by sharing her journey from studying Anthropology, to Brand Marketing, to Women’s Circles and a variety of other healing modalities. Finally, Kirsten confesses to fully indulging in the pleasure (and peace) of spending a week away from her family.Kirsten Zinchuk Haley is the owner and founder of sault + spirit. She seeks to provide a space for expansion and healing for all. Believing everything we need to live our most joyful, purposeful lives resides in the stories we tell, the profound wisdom of our bodies and learning to hold this whole dance of life with a looser grip and a more joyful heart. In a world and a body that are constantly evolving and becoming, nothing is beyond our power to transform and transmute.Kirsten has a graduate degree in Ethnography and Anthropology from the University of Chicago and studied Creative Writing and Philosophy at Emory University. She has been investigating and crafting stories for brands, groups, and individuals for over 20 years, transforming what is possible for all. Her lifetime love of the mystical tradition of tarot and extensive graduate work in media theory has informed her work on visual narrative as a powerful tool for trauma resolution and healing. She is a reiki master, attuned to reading the akasha, a master of eriksonian hypnosis and has been studying the art of embodiment and open-hearted intimacy for the past few years. Currently, she is studying more somatic modalities with a keen interest in the stories the body is telling through our movements, habits, and gestures. The stories we tell… linguistically, socially, psychologically, culturally, visually, physically, relationally …that is the heart of it all.For the links and show notes for this episode, head to: http://beingmompodcast.com/podcast/episode-009

Volume 2 is officially here! Volume 1 of Art of the Float ran for about three years, so we’re delighted to come back from a little break with a fresh take on the podcast. As we dive into this new year and a new take, we also have some new voices on the show! Drew Kane, owner of New Hampshire Float Therapy is a new host, who came into floating much the same way as Dylan. (Thanks, Joe Rogan!) Drew’s start comes full circle because he’s been a loyal listener of Art of the Float since his start, and he was a consulting client of AOTF. With only one float tank (in someone’s home) in all of New England, he seized the opportunity. Drew was a juvenile probation officer who went through a few big challenges to get his center open, but he stumbled on the perfect location and got creative with the landlord situation. Drew’s center opened in November 2017, and as of our recording date, he’s adding a third float room and just hired employees. Rounding out the new hosting team is Gloria Morris, owner of three Float Sixty locations. Gloria opened three locations in Chicago and Northwest Indiana in only three years. Gloria comes from a tech background in database marketing, and her husband took her to float several years ago to relieve stress. She’s run her own marketing company for many years and worked in big data technology for a decade before starting her float journey in 2015. She opened her first center only 9 months after her first float. Gloria has a team of almost 30 employees across her three locations, so she brings a wealth of knowledge about leadership, scaling, and efficiencies. Kim Hannan is a name you may recognize. She writes the show notes for each episode, but she’ll be joining each recording and will sometimes jump in live on the mic to share her thoughts. (Okay, I can’t write about myself in the third person for the rest of this paragraph….) After 15 years in the corporate world, I left my role as a training and marketing director just as we were getting ready to open Sukhino Float Center & Salt Cave in southern Indiana. I knew I was going to open a center before I had even had my first float. I roped my husband into my crazy idea, and after we studied and planned for four years, we finally broke ground. It was a challenging marathon of strange happenings to get the doors open, but we’re 5 months in, and loving the salty life. Dylan will take you on a stroll down memory lane with his start in the float world and how he and his wife Sandra launched The Float Shoppe. After hearing about floating on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Dylan became intrigued and eventually inspired enough to leave the cubicle farm and build his own center in Portland, Oregon, even though he never talked to Space Jesus. We’re all excited to bring you a new season of Art of the Float!
Listen now to Episode 4, where I interview Bebe Gibson with the Serenity Salt Cave in Snellville, Georgia. Learn what a salt cave is, the many health benefits of spending time in one. The Serenity Salt Cave has so many other wonderful natural health modalities. Spend a few minutes of your day with Bebe and I as we learn the many benefits of the awesome, natural and healthy things to treat yourself to at the Serenity Salt Cave.
Alyssa visits a marijuana dispensary, has some edibles, and feels a lot less badass (but probably more chill) than she thought she would. Annemarie drags her mom to another strange wellness activity and struggles to suppress her laughter in a completely silent Salt Cave.
We bring you on a visit the healing Salt Cave. Luckily we thought to turn on our recorder!
The world's longest salt cave is found in Israel, research claims. A research led by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem found that the Malham Cave is the longest salt cave in the world. The cave, which extends 6.2 miles underground, is located under Mount Sodom in Israel and lies southwest of the Dead Sea. Salt caves are made of salt and are usually only half a mile long. These rare geological formations also only exist in dry areas that barely experience rainfall. The mapping of the cavern was completed after 38 years through the efforts of an international research team. The team measured the inner parts of the cave for 10 hours a day, studying salt tunnels and crystals. The researchers used traditional tools, such as tape measures and compasses, to survey the cave until technologically advanced measuring devices became available. The team expects the Malham Cave to extend in length and retain its shape over time. Rain can dissolve salt and produce new pathways once the water dries out, extending the cave's length. In addition, the cave can be preserved with the help of its cap rock—a stronger, resistant type of rock covering the cave. The cap rock will protect the salt from melting against the arid heat of the desert. Currently, the research team is processing data on the Malham Cave to publish their findings and to produce an electronic map of the cave. Although the study is completed, the team continues to survey the cave's undiscovered parts. Most of these uncharted parts are the cave's upper levels, which are more challenging to measure.

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Rachel: I ordered your organic acids test. A western dr diagnosed me with SIBO without doing any tests and prescribed me xifaxan for 3 months. My question is, if i do the organic acids test now after being on xifaxan for 1 month, will results be a bad reflection ? Do i have to wait to take the organic acids test? Elaine: Hi, I recently had a Organic Acids Test done and was wondering if I sent you the results could you interpret it for me and what this would cost? Kind Regards, Elaine Tori: What are the benefits of salt caves? What should you look for when deciding between salt caves or rooms? Is there research that supports halotherapy (dry salt therapy) as a treatment for the conditions/ailments the salt caves claim? E.g., COPD, asthma, allergies, skin conditions like eczema and acne? Linda: In June I started itching first my head and earlobes it seem to go away and then it started on my hands and feet . The strange thing is that it would be gone for almost sometimes 2 to 3 weeks and then come back . Then I broke out in hives . My doctor suggested Sarna and histamine and Prednisones . The hives would come and go right now they seem to be gone but my hands, feet and head are itching again any suggestions . I must say the sarna has saved my craziness of the itching it does help some what. Anthony: I'd like to get more information on getting test(s) to discover the root of my health issues. How do I get started Alex: You were on the Mindpump podcast and great info. I wanted to see if you could send me some additional tips on Psoriasis and the website to remove metal from teeth. Thanks. again, great show. Elizabeth: Hey Dr Cabral, it doesn't seem as if you have spoken about chicory root before. I was wondering if it's a good alternative to those who drink coffee? Given the prebiotic (inulin) factor presumably it may not do well with some people? I know you've mentioned inulin before on your show but wondered your thoughts on drinking chicory root? Thanks for all and all the best. Tiffany: You have said on your podcasts that you don't have to wait the 6 weeks that your emails are behind to find out which tests you would recommend taking but I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask you the questions? It is about my daughter. She is 5 years old. We recently moved from US to Costa Rica, it's been around 6 weeks. Previously her diet has been great, not a picker eater. Everyone is impressed at how she will eat whole foods, salads and even whole fish (eyeballs and all!) along with Cole's Portuguese sardines... she loves them. We avoid over gluten-ing ourselves as well as avoid white sugar, and sugar in general (we use stevia). I always buy organic and even soak any nuts and grains that we will be consuming. We don't have access to the same food here and recently, everytime she eats (very little at that) she claims her belly hurts. She did recently battle with an inner ear infection and I have been excluding eggs and dairy from her diet for the past 2 weeks. She started at a new school and the bathroom is "dirty" and "the door doesn't close" so she has been struggling with holding "it" until she absolutely can't anymore and then having an accident. Luckily, her daily poops are around 4pm so we are home for them. My thoughts about what could be wrong are all over the place! Parasites, bladder infection, SIBO?!? We are returning to the states in 2 weeks so I can order a test and send it in but I'm not positive what test I should order. Hopefully this can get answered before our trip back as I don't think we will be back in the state for almost 1 year. Thank You in advance for your time! Valerie: Hello Dr. Cabral! First off, thank you for the Rain Barrel Effect. Really enjoyed the book. It was packed full of easy to read information. I've been telling everyone I can about it. I'm 57 years old and since my 30's I've not followed a very good diet and drank a lot of wine (1.75L in one week period) and excess coffee (700 mg/day) In March (2018) I went on a Whole Foods, Plant-Based Diet, I gave up drinking, zero coffee and work out, as per your protocol. I suffer from Adrenal Fatigue. I'm working with a FMD and waiting for my results from my Organic Acids Test and a stool test. My Mother had Breast Cancer at 54 (she's now 91) and my Sister has been recently diagnosed (age 60). My Sister is a heavy drinker and a junk food Vegan (a bag of chips for dinner). I was tested several years ago, for the BRACA1 and tested very low. My question is, with my years of drinking and poor lifestyle, does this increase my chances of developing dis-ease later in my life? Have I done to much damage over the years? Thank you and I always look forward to your Podcasts. Vivienne: Hi there, My name is Viv, I currently have multiple food sensitivities, which include histamine and salicylates and amines (these are recent in the past year). I've done multiple hair tests over the years and hormone blood tests, I'm on DHEA as this hormone is very low after being in birth control for 20 years (and coming off 3 years ago). I don't metabolise copper well and have low levels of copper/estrogen. I'm struggling mainly with brain fog and fatigue and also generally still unsure of what to eat and when (eating around 25 foods on rotation following the failsafe diet approach). What I want: Someone to help guide me out of a state of intolerance (I've been told many times I'm stuck with them but I don't buy into that) Someone to help guide me on what food to eat and when so that I have energy to get through the day (without resorting to using chocolate and modafinil which is the only way I feel I can function). Someone to help me heal my gut when most of the traditional supplements and healing methods are off limits because I can't tolerate them. Can you help and how would we get things started? I've sent a few messages before but no reply so I'm hoping you get this and can back in contact! Thanks, Viv John: Dear Dr. Cabral, I’ve been diagnosed with BPH and am getting up 3-4 times a night. I don't believe I’ve slept more than 4 hours straight in 3 years. I’m 57 years old and the doctors all say it’s a normal part of aging which I wholeheartedly disagree with. My wife and I eat clean, take supplements and workout 4-5 times a week (crossfit) and are in good health. What is your recommendation for shrinking the prostate. There’s got to be something that causes this condition.
