In the first half, author and historian Steve Ubaney discussed his theories surrounding the death of Elvis Presley, suggesting a massive cover-up and foul play. Ubaney has spent over a decade researching Elvis's untimely demise, and he began the conversation by recounting the star's humble beginnings in Tupelo, Mississippi, where Presley was born into poverty. "Elvis was dirt, dirt poor... they were eating three-day-old food," Ubaney explained. As Elvis's career took off, so did the influence of his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. "[Parker] was arguably the best and worst thing that ever happened to him," Ubaney stated, explaining how the financially manipulative manager helped elevate Elvis from a regional act to a national superstar.Ubaney expressed skepticism about the official narrative regarding Elvis's death. "From day one, I never believed what they said," he claimed. He pointed out that Elvis had undergone two comprehensive physicals shortly before his passing, which found no alarming issues. The conversation turned to the musician's rampant drug use and the financial pressures he faced, with Ubaney revealing that the singer and his manager were essentially bankrupt. "Colonel Parker owed $32 million... the pressure was mounting," he explained. Ubaney described how Elvis sought the protection of the FBI, wanting to become a federal narcotics agent to combat threats he had been receiving, particularly from the mob, which Parker was allegedly involved with.Ubaney went on to suggest that Elvis's death was not a simple overdose but rather a murder orchestrated against the backdrop of Parker's gambling debts and mob connections. "I do believe Elvis knew his assailants," he stated. "When Elvis died, Colonel Parker owed millions... it was not going to end well." Ubaney dismissed the popular story that Elvis died on the toilet, asserting, "Elvis was never on the toilet... they tackled Elvis from behind."Ubaney then pointed to inconsistencies in the autopsy reports, mentioning two death certificates—one citing cardiac arrhythmia and the other asphyxiation. He also connected Elvis's fascination with the JFK assassination to his own untimely demise, revealing that both he and JFK investigator William Sullivan died shortly after attempting to uncover the truth. In the second half, paranormal researcher and spirit communicator Karen A. Dahlman discussed her journey with channeling and Ouija boards. Dahlman, who has been channeling since childhood, explained that it is a way to access information from various sources, including spirit guides and one's higher self. "We're all channeling all the time," she noted. She also highlighted the significance of intention in channeling, saying, "The energy you put out is the energy you attract back."Discussing the popularity of Ouija boards, Dahlman described them as both collectibles and tools for accessing divine wisdom. "They have a rich history... and they allow me to bring through divine wisdom and consciousness from other spiritual beings," she explained. When asked how someone could start channeling, she advised creating a relaxed environment and setting intentions to connect with one's higher self. "Get into a self-hypnosis state... open up your heart and say, I would like to channel my divine wisdom," she recommended. Dahlman emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset to attract beneficial energy, stating, "You must get into a space of, 'I'm open, I'm positive.'"She emphasized that this time of year, with celebrations such as Christmas and Hanukkah, creates a "raising of energy" that individuals can tap into. "Why not ride that wave of greatness, of merriment, of joy?" she suggested. Dahlman, who is also an officer of the Talking Board Historical Society, shared insights on the history of Ouija boards, tracing their origins back to 1886. She recounted a fascinating anecdote about President Grover Cleveland, who received a "witch board" as a wedding gift.

What Does Extreme Heat Do?Since the pre-industrialized era, the global temperature has increased by about one degree Celsius. Although one degree may not seem significant, the consequences are increases in the intensity of heatwaves and drier conditions. In addition, in dense urban settings buildings trap and absorb this heat and cause even a higher area of heat relative to surrounding areas. The heat island effect is also exacerbated by the lack of greenery. With current fossil fuel emissions, increased heating of 1.5 degrees Celsius or more is predicted to happen globally within this decade. Among the most promising solutions to combat extreme heat in cities is the effort to promote natural systems – trees, creeks, and parks in cities and creating resilience hubs where people can stay cool and safe from dangerous temperatures. Because heat impacts individuals in multiple ways, the response to extreme heat must also be multifaceted. Responses to Extreme HeatThere are many possible responses to extreme heat. On an individual level, for example, when human body temperature rises to the point of heat stroke, individuals are subject to serious illness or in some cases, death. Heat poses a particular threat when the body is physically unable to cool down. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 2000 and 2016, 125 million more people were exposed to heat waves than in the period before 2000. Actions individuals can take to reduce heat exposure include avoiding going outside at peak temperatures, reducing the heat inside of homes, and if reducing heat at home is not an option, going where air conditioning is available. For some vulnerable populations like farmworkers, staying inside where there is air conditioning is not an option. In some states, like California, a temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit initiates the California's Heat Illness Prevention Standard, which is enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The Standard requires that training, water, shade, and rest be provided to outdoor workers. Currently, there is no federal protection or policy for workers who may experience extreme heat. While a proposed rulemaking is in the works, it may take years before a final regulation is completed. How to Establish Resilience and Safe HubsIn the meantime, there are key actions that anyone can take, including something as simple as making extreme heat a topic of discussion as part of increasing awareness. By spreading awareness and recognizing the consequences of extreme heat, politicians and policymakers will be much more likely to pay attention to the issue and to community necessities. Global and local temperatures are continuing to rise, and, as a result, it is important to have community access to locations with air conditioning systems, heat pumps, and safety hubs particularly in communities whose residents do not have home air conditioners. Hubs may include libraries, churches, schools, and nonprofits which can be essential for providing both a cool place to shelter and a source of information and assistance.Shifting to more green spaces is also an important solution to mitigate the impacts of increased heat. In New York, the Highline is a great example of transforming an old historic freight rail line into a park filled with rich greenery. The incorporation of nature into a previously urban dense space provides the city with more trees and access to green space. Addressing extreme heat in cities requires new approaches and creative thinking for a suite of implementation strategies to provide cooling to the public and creation of green space. Who is Our GuestJeff Goodell is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet, which focuses on responses to extreme heat. Goodell is also a journalist who has been covering climate change for more than two decades at Rolling Stone, The New York Times Magazine, and many other publications. He has a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MFA from Columbia University in New York. Working On Hip Mobility And Proper Breathing To Alleviate Back Pain Click Here for a FREE 15 min Zoom Consultation With Brad: In the podcast transcript, Brad Williams of Over 40 Fitness Hacks engages in a discussion with Megan Dahlman from the Self Care Simplified podcast, exploring effective strategies to manage back pain, particularly for individuals over 40. Megan begins by emphasizing the critical role of hip mobility in addressing back issues, highlighting the detrimental effects of prolonged sitting and poor posture common in modern lifestyles. She underscores the importance of loosening tight hip flexors and groin muscles, which can alleviate pressure on the lumbar spine and contribute to overall back health. Furthermore, Megan suggests a two-pronged approach: releasing tension in the front of the hips while simultaneously strengthening the glute muscles. By incorporating exercises like hip mobility drills and glute bridges into daily routines, individuals can rebalance their musculature and reduce strain on the lower back. This emphasis on both flexibility and strength reflects a holistic approach to back care, aiming to address underlying muscular imbalances that often contribute to discomfort and pain. The conversation also delves into the significance of proper breathing techniques as a foundational aspect of core engagement and overall well-being. Megan and Brad highlight the transformative power of mindful breathing, which not only activates deep core muscles but also regulates the nervous system and reduces stress responses. By prioritizing breath awareness and integrating it with movement patterns, individuals can enhance the effectiveness of their workouts while promoting relaxation and recovery. Moreover, Megan and Brad underscore the value of quality over quantity in exercise, advocating for slower, more deliberate movements that encourage mindfulness and muscle engagement. This approach allows individuals to develop a deeper awareness of their bodies and cultivate better movement patterns, ultimately leading to improved functional fitness and reduced risk of injury. Overall, the podcast transcript provides actionable insights and practical tips for managing back pain and promoting holistic health among individuals over 40. By addressing issues of mobility, strength, and breath awareness, listeners are encouraged to adopt proactive measures to support their long-term well-being and vitality. Secrets To Overcoming Pain and Aging - PSF Framework Click Here for a FREE 15 min Zoom Consultation With Brad: The podcast interview between Brad Williams of Over 40 Fitness Hacks and Megan Dahlman from the Self Care Simplified podcast delves into strategies for staying youthful and pain-free as we age, particularly focusing on the needs of the over 40 audience. Brad emphasizes the importance of quality of life over quantity, expressing the desire to address various health issues commonly faced by individuals in this demographic. Megan challenges the notion that pain and physical decline are inevitable with aging, highlighting that much of the discomfort stems from neglecting proper body usage and failing to maintain physical wellness. She introduces the PSF framework—Posture, Strength, and Flexibility—as key components to address when experiencing pain or stiffness. Megan also touches on osteoarthritis, stressing that it's not an inevitable consequence of aging but rather a result of joint dysfunction. The discussion expands to include the role of inflammation, diet, and repetitive movements in exacerbating physical discomfort. Megan underscores the importance of identifying the mechanical and chemical aspects of pain and suggests working with trainers to understand optimal joint function. Brad shares his own experiences with back problems and emphasizes the significance of hip flexibility and lumbar spine stability. In essence, the conversation advocates for a holistic approach to pain management and wellness, emphasizing the importance of understanding how the body functions and addressing issues at their root causes rather than merely treating symptoms. Through education, awareness, and proactive lifestyle adjustments, individuals can significantly improve their quality of life as they age. I used to be so anxious to take a day off from exercise that I'd force myself to work out even when I was absolutely exhausted, sore AF, overwhelmed and even in pain. I ran half marathons because that's the form of exercise that burned the most calories (even though I didn't enjoy it and it caused me a whole lot of physical pain). I tracked every single step walked, calorie burned, and active minutes on my Fitbit with obsessive precision. Did I run in place in my basement on the days that I hadn't hit 10,000 steps yet? You bet I did. To say that I used to struggle with an unhealthy relationship with exercise is the understatement of the century. If you've ever viewed exercise as a way to lose weight, chances are you can relate…When you're a woman exposed to diet culture on the daily (i.e. ALL women), it's really easy to fall into the trap of BAD advice related to exercise, like…“Go hard or go home!”“You need to hit the gym after eating that dessert”“If you're not sweating buckets and pushing yourself to the limit every day, you won't see any results.”“No pain, no gain”As a result , you might constantly be feeling like you're not doing enough, or you're doing the wrong thing. Or, you're either going ALL in working out 7 days a week, or you're completely off the wagon and struggling to even get yourself motivated to work out AT ALL. On this episode of the Friends in Beauty podcast I welcome Johanna Dahlman , the Founder & Owner of Alopecia Angel, to the Friends in Beauty guest chair. Alopecia Angel helps heal and reverse autoimmune alopecia 100% naturally with no medications or pharmaceuticals needed and has created a framework for success for various types of alopecia and hair loss naturally. They have helped hundreds of clients in over 60 countries from alopecia totalis, alopecia universalis, alopecia areata, diffuse, Telogen Effluvium, and even scarring alopecia and more. They also cater to adults and children. As the founder and creator, Johanna has personally gone through alopecia areata and overcame it naturally as well. It was this situation that led her to create a framework and program that is now in multiple languages helping others get results and answers in less time. I had such an amazing conversation with Johanna. Alopecia is something that is very common and I actually know quite a few people who have different types of Alopecia but I was always of the belief that certain types of alopecia couldn't be reversed. Johanna broke down all the facts. In this interview she shares: -What is alopecia & how she was first diagnosed -The different types of alopecia and how common it is -What can trigger alopecia and the mental, emotional, and physical toll it can take on your body -All about her Hair n Heal program that's helping her clients see hair growth in as little as 4 weeks -How she manages the expectations of her clients on this journey -Some of the amazing results and stories her clients have shared -How friends and family can support someone with alopecia -Common misconceptions about alopecia and so much more I learned so much during my time with Johanna and I pray that this reaches someone who it can help. If you know someone who is living with alopecia right now please share this interview with them. There is a solution for them. Let's go ahead and jump into this chat with Johanna and if you prefer to watch our beautiful faces then tune in on YouTube. Enjoy this episode! In the first hour Karen A. Dahlman, author and ouijaologist, joins us to discuss the universally accepted concepts of our ‘higher self' and the power of our heart, both in general culture and in theology. In hour two, author and Sedona tour-guide John Polk will join us to discuss his work with ghost hunting and ufo sightings. It is important to build our investigation into such things, using logic and science, while still considering the possibility that some mysteries may never be solved.
When it comes to women in ministry, two prohibitive New Testament passages unfortunately provide all the clarity and certainty some people need. However, Cheryl Russell and Tiffany Dahlman suggest a different approach—moving from pattern to story. We do this by opening the Bible wide, tapping into its full wisdom, and developing a theology from the stories throughout its pages about women living, working, and interacting with the mission of God. Tiffany Dalhman is the lead minister for Courtyard Church of Christ in Fayetteville, NC. You can contact her at courtyardcoc@gmail.com. Cheryl Russell is Pastor of New Heritage Fellowship in Fairview, TX. You can contact here at www.newheritagefamily.com and New Heritage Fellowship | Facebook.
Small Churches, Shared Spaces, and the Powerful Work of the Holy Spirit – A Conversation with Cheryl Russell & Tiffany Dahlman Often leadership is determined by who is out front. Cheryl Russell and Tiffany Dahlman give us a perspective of leadership as being alongside. The power of this kind of leadership can be seen in the way they invite people in their respective churches to significant participation in the worship service—a participation not only fosters a greater sense of mutuality in every gathering, but also increases the value placed on the Spirit of God working among everyone in the church family. The economic developments of the last three decades in China have propelled forward an entire generation. But when we strive for opportunity and prosperity, are we prepared for the knock-on effects on the people around us? Looking back at this era, how can we understand the human stories hiding in the profit charts? Elaine Huang is making an independent feature film which explores exactly these themes. In today's episode, Elaine describes her experiences working in the film industry in China, and in so doing reveals a deeply personal family story of riches, rupture and redemption. Divination comes in many forms, from using an egg or melted wax, to the precursor to a modern Talking or Spirit Board - Alectryomancy, whereby a bird would peck at seeds placed next to letters. Author and historian Karen Dahlman joins us to discuss the history of talking boards or spirit boards, generally known as the Ouija Board. Whether beginner or expert, and whether you find genuine interest or if you find the board demonic, Karen will explore it all. (https://tbhs.org/board/karen-dahlman/) (http://karenadahlman.com)
“A church culture that is radically hospitable to the Word of God through the diverse voices within the congregation preaching in a rotating basis empowered by the gifting of the Holy Spirit.” This is how Tiffany Dahlman defines the open pulpit. In this episode, Jeremy and Steven talk with Tiffany about how the practice of the open pulpit forms a culture of radical hospitality to the word of God. In our conversation, Tiffany addresses questions about the role of the lead minister in this model, the impact on those participating in the preaching rotation, and how expository preaching from a diversity of voices forms a church community. Tiffany Dalhman is the lead minister for Courtyard Church of Christ in Fayetteville, NC. You can contact her at courtyardcoc@gmail.com. You can catch her presentation at Pepperdine University on the open pulpit here: Step Outside the Box.

I don't know about you, but I struggle with nutrition, fitness and body image.I've yo-yo'd back and forth from diet approaches and exercise routines, and the only way I've been able to see significant results has been with strict, regimented programs that aren't sustainable.I've had to come to peace (rather I'm working on it...) with my 40-something body and how it responds to my wellness practices, even if it means I'm not as lean as I used to be.How about you - do you find yourself getting frustrated with fitness and nutrition as you work towards an "ideal body weight" you think you'd be more happy at?Did your body change after having kids?Do you find yourself dreaming about your leaner physique while despising the one you have today? If so, you're not alone. In this episode, my friend, certified trainer and nutrition coach Megan Dahlman of Strong Mammas chats with me about how to stay motivated in our wellness practices even if our bodies have changed, and encourages us to break up with perfection and lean more into acceptance and grace as we progress with exercise and eating well. What you'll hear:How moms can break through the all-or-nothing and perfectionist mindsets with her self-care habits. How much daily effort is necessary to actually make a difference for your health and create forward progress. The power of committing to just 10 minutes a day to fitness. And I'll be spilling all the beans on my personal challenges with my own mom bod.CONNECT WITH MEGANJumpstart 30!
