Garrett Bluhm is the Co-founder and CEO of Drafted Commerce, an online retail brand advertising and media agency supporting full-service Amazon agencies, Amazon Advertising, Amazon DSP, and various major retailers. He founded Drafted Commerce as a way to provide a data-driven approach to helping private equity companies identify opportunities, validate acquisitions, and help brands build internal capabilities.  With extensive digital and leadership experience, Garrett has consulted and facilitated execution on over 85 brands in the eCommerce and retail space and advised eight commerce tech and SaaS companies. He has helped dozens of Fortune 100 companies structure and establish their in-house digital capabilities. In this episode… Q4 has brought about a decline in purchase orders (POs) and inventory shortages on Amazon. With these pressing issues, brands need to evaluate 1P and 3P fulfillment methods to anticipate Amazon regulations and avoid shutdowns next year. So, how can you determine the best fulfillment method for your brand? Although Amazon has not yet initiated a mandatory full transition from 1P to 3P, Garrett Bluhm urges brands to weigh their options. Your first evaluation strategy should be to develop a profit and loss (P&L) strategy for each fulfillment method. This requires performing a complete assessment of available inventory, shipping costs, and product pricing. Then you can analyze FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) or FBM (Fulfillment by Merchant) costs. If transitioning from 1P to 3P, Garrett warns that Amazon can track your account addresses and subsequently remove your account, so it's crucial to utilize separate business addresses for Amazon and your chosen merchant.  In this episode of The Digital Deep Dive, Aaron Conant welcomes Garrett Bluhm, Co-founder and CEO of Drafted Commerce, to talk about 1P and 3P fulfillment on Amazon. Garrett shares how brands should consider declining POs and inventory shortages, strategies for evaluating 1P versus 3P fulfillment, and how to maintain brand protection on Amazon.

Stellt sich die Frage: Make or buy? Also selber machen oder auslagern?

This is especially crucial now that there's a “Buy Now” button in addition to the add to cart button — the “Buy Now” button always leads to purchase from the buy box owner.Get Amazon Consulting at https://myamazonguy.com/The Variables that Affect the Buy BoxOnce a seller has the ability to compete for the Buy Box, he or she has to learn exactly how to win it. We know that Amazon's algorithm compares multiple variables of each offering to determine which gives the best overall value to the customer. The weights assigned to each variable can change on a product-by-product or a category-by-category basis, so even though a seller could be losing to a competitor on one product, the same seller could be beating that same competitor on another unrelated product. There are many variables that Amazon takes into account, which are outlined below. The key is to invest your resources in the ones that make a bigger impact on the Buy Box.Fulfillment Method:Sellers who choose FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) or SFP (Seller-Fulfilled Prime) are usually at an advantage over those who sell FBM (Fulfillment by Merchant), with all other variables being equal.Landed Price:This is the total amount that the product is sold for on Amazon. The lower the seller's performance metrics are compared to other sellers, the lower they'll need to lower their price to try to win the Buy Box. On the other hand, if their metrics are high, they could raise their price and still win.Shipping Time:The quicker you ship, the better off you are.Availability:Backordered items can be featured in the Buy Box, but items that are immediately fulfillable are favored by Amazon's algorithm so avoiding backorders should be a priority for all sellers.Order Defect Rate:This is a combination of the Negative Feedback Rate, the A-to-Z Guarantee Claim Rate, and the Service Chargeback Rate.Valid Tracking Rate:This is the percentage of deliveries sent with full tracking information.Late Shipment Rate:This is the number of orders shipped later than the expected ship date.On-Time Delivery:This is the percentage of orders that were delivered on time.Feedback Score:How well people have rated you (especially recently) makes a difference.Customer Response Time:How quickly do you respond to customers? If you take too much time, it will negatively impact your chances of winning the Buy Box.Feedback Count:This is how many people have given you feedback. Obviously the more customers, the better.Inventory Depth and Sales Volume:Having enough inventory consistently will put you in a better position than if you have big fluctuations in inventory.Cancellation and Refund Rate:If you cancel on a customer who has made an order too often, it could have a negative impact on your seller performance.Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/myamazonguy)

By improving delivery promises to customers and effectively managing your inventory, it can make a huge difference to the success of your online brand. In addition to the built-in traffic of Amazon, one of the top benefits of using the e-commerce platform is that a brand can take advantage of FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon). However, relying on Amazon's fulfillment centers is not enough to build and scale a successful e-commerce brand. This is where outside warehousing and fulfillment firms, such as FLEXE, come in handy. Are you leaving money on the table each month as an Amazon FBA Seller? Are you fed up with all the fees Amazon is charging that are draining your ecommerce business profit margins?  Yes, fees are tough and it’s hard to make a profit on some items selling on Amazon. A lot of sellers are not aware of the fact that they can lower their FBA fulfilment fees and actually increase their profitability.  Take a deep breath and start listening because in this podcast episode, Kathleen opens up about simple yet smart ways to save on costs. Take the opportunity to learn from an industry expert and get the full breakdown on each of them and learn how to save money and get ahead of your competitors. Let’s start increasing your profit today! It can be difficult to make a profit selling on Amazon, particularly when it comes to selling certain items. Here are 4 ways that you could potentially save money on Amazon FBA fees and increase your profit margins today.  Don’t sell items that retail for less than $10. It can be hard to profit from these low priced items. That doesn’t mean you can’t ever sell items under $10. If you really want to, check to see if you qualify and then utilize Amazon’s Small and Light program. Remeasure your products to ensure the weight and dimensions are correct. This is what your FBA fees are based off of and if they’re incorrect, you could be losing some serious cash every time you sell an item. Sell in multipacks. Instead of selling 1 product, sell 2, 3, 4, etc of the same item bundled together. This allows for only one fulfillment fee for selling multiple products.  Bundle a low priced product with another product. Take two or three different items and bundle them together and sell them on one one product listing. Like the bundle idea, this also creates only one fulfillment fee for multiple products and will save you money on those FBA fees.  Want to learn how to massively increase sales on Amazon without spending 147 hours trying to figure it out yourself?  Check out this completely free video training if you’d like to learn more about how to make 5 Surefire Ways to Quickly Get More Sales on Amazon. https://www.mastersofmarketplace.com/getmoresales  You’ll learn how to leverage what you already have in your business to accelerate your sales on Amazon, discover the most important things to do to make your listing irresistible to Amazon customers, plus how to get your products seen on Amazon deals pages (without having to give a 90% discount).
