It's never easy for a family when a loved one dies. But if, like many in the trades, that loved one is in charge of the family business, it can make it even more difficult. That's why you need succession planning. My guest today is Trevor Lively, President at Blue Jay Irrigation, who, along with his dad who was diagnosed with cancer, suddenly felt the pressure for succession planning in the worst possible circumstances. The experience taught Trevor the importance of preparing for the unexpected. In this episode, we discuss: - Trevor's experience with succession planning - How EOS helped ease the transition to new leadership - How Trevor is using video to grow the business. Our guest today chose the career of his dreams back when he was in fourth grade - tune in to see how he followed through!    Episode Introduction:  From getting his undergraduate degree in physics to his varied experiences at law school, Trevor Schmidt walks us through his journey of becoming a trademark expert who helps you establish your brand’s identity.    Episode Summary:  Trevor Schmidt delivers this value-packed episode where he talks all about the importance of protecting your intellectual property. He shares the vivid experiences that he’s experienced as an attorney and how he ended up practicing corporate law. This conversation is filled with valuable tricks of the trade and actionable tips that you could put into use for your business right away.    Main Takeaways: When getting your contracts done, ask your attorney to draft them from thinking of how these contracts will hold up in court. Makes your business operational and transactional through a contract. A business is more likely to need legal assistance in the beginning phase than it is years later. How Trevor educates his clients about the importance of legal protection:  Explain to them the risks involved on a practical level. It saves you a huge cost in the longer run. Tell them about the resources available to them. How to know if you need to invest in a trademark:  Ask yourself if you have enough protection through the common law or do you need added protection from the federal law? Consider your geographical area, do you plan on functioning locally or do you plan to expand nationwide?  Understand whether you need a trademark or a standard character mark based on your business’ needs. If your business is based online, it’s best to get a trademark registration once you’re firm that you aim to continue growing your brand in its current form. Legally protecting your company with the help of trademarks, copyrights and contracts make your business a prime opportunity for investors. Analyze the risks of a company based on the severity as well as its likeliness to occur. When you’re saying “No”  to something, always be prepared with alternative choices for it.   Fun Facts About Trevor Schmidt: His favorite book is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. His business book recommendation: The 4 Disciplines of Execution: Achieving Your Wildly Important Goals by Chris McChesney, Jim Huling, and Sean Covey.   Find Trevor Schmidt: Website: https://www.hutchlaw.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/inretrevor Email: tschmidt@hutchlaw.com Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/founder-shares/id1526357098 Get the visual experience, watch the videocast for the episode here: https://youtu.be/6xH2OxTE1BA   Connect With Girija: Website: https://www.gbplaw.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gbplaw/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GBPLaw/   Get Ready To Use Contact Templates At: https://yourcontractbuddy.com/

It's going to come from sending out the mail, sending out the cold calls to activate demand for people that aren't actively looking on Google. But your highest quality, most motivated ones are going to come from a Google search”. “I think if you're doing something with enough energy and it gives you enough energy, you're probably going to be pretty damn good at that thing. And if you do it enough, you'll probably get noticed by people and somehow make a career out of it.  “Chase energy, not money. Hopefully, money follows but I would much rather be high energy and doing things I love and be broke versus really low energy, miserable, and have a bunch of money. So that's me”. My guest today is Trevor Bauer, who is arguably the very best pitcher in Major League Baseball. In 2020, he had the lowest Earned Run Average of any pitcher and won the National League Cy Young Award, which goes to the top pitcher in the game. I wanted to interview Trevor not only because he's an excellent pitcher, but because he takes a radical approach to the game. He's a physicist and a scientist. A scholar and an entrepreneur. And you don't find that combination very often. Furthermore, he might be the most polarizing figure in baseball. Some people love him; some people hate him. But every fan has an opinion on him. Off the field, he's the founder of Momentum, athlete-driven media company that uses storytelling to connect athletes and fans. To build it, he started a podcast and a YouTube vlog where he talks about pitching mechanics and what it's like to play professional baseball. Personally, this was one of the coolest episodes I've ever recorded. I grew up as an avid San Francisco Giants fan, and I still remember getting to the field early to get autographs and catch baseballs during batting practice. This interview would have made little 8-year old David proud, and I'm lucky to share it with you today. Please enjoy my conversation with Trevor Bauer. ____________________________ Show Notes 2:18 - How Trevor would change the way baseball is marketed and to whom it should be pitched. 5:45 - Why updating the game for a modern audience would be difficult, despite what Trevor believes would be a successful move. 11:23 - Why there aren't many unique fields like in San Francisco or Boston. 15:10 - How baseball is not being evangelized well by the people who could be doing it most easily. 19:51 - How general scientific literacy can and should be improved through sports. 23:28 - What it takes for Trevor to scientifically design his pitches and then implement them in a game. 31:00 - The business of baseball, and how Trevor has learned to maneuver its quirks and difficulties. 37:13 - If could choose anybody, who else in the sports world and beyond Trevor would want to talk to. 42:15 - How Trevor looks into the future to superpower his game. 48:07 - The dangers of getting too in-depth in analyzing your game, and how it can hurt you. 54:43 - Why you should practice analytically and perform intuitively. 56:13 - What breathing techniques Trevor employs in his game. 58:18 - The different aspects of building a business and how Trevor is handling each element differently. 1:07:30 - Why Trevor's actual goals in his work and his game aren't covered by the media. 1:10:44 - How his father helped Trevor succeed in baseball by giving him the tools he needed to work hard.

On this segment of HyperFast Wealth, host Dan Lesniak interviews Trevor McGregor, a real estate investor that has gone into self-storage and hemp farms. After establishing his own real estate investment success, Trevor began coaching those around him and eventually found his way to coaching on Tony Robbins's team, completing over 25k coaching calls! Listen to hear why Trevor thinks the path to mastery is to keep it simple. Episode Highlights:  Trevor does a lot of real estate investing in his home of Vancouver where he lives with his wife and 3 sons. Out of college, Trevor went to work for a hospitality business in which he invested his entire life's worth. Initially, a coach introduced Trevor to real estate where he discovered cash flow and built a large portfolio. With so many people asking how he did it, Trevor started to coach other people to do the same. Trevor had the pleasure of coaching with Tony Robbins and his team for over 5 years, conducting 25k coaching sessions. How Trevor responded to his initial investment failure ultimately led him to the position that he is in now. Self-education through events, books, and audio gave Trevor the knowledge he needed to dig himself out of a hole. Building off the fundamentals is important in real estate as there is really nothing new in the process. Trevor focused on finding deals that were mutually beneficial which allowed him to teach others to leverage the same skillset. Expanding across multiple asset classes has allowed Trevor to create multiple streams of income. Trevor has been able to surround himself with people that have shared their high-level knowledge of different asset classes. The best way to achieve success is to find people who have already done what you want to do. It's equally as important to find and learn from people who have failed at what you want to do. Through his coaching, Trevor has come to identify 5 mistakes that many people make that lead to failure. Wasted time adds up more than you realize; the most successful people use their time for the important tasks Take an honest inventory of your personal and professional practices to see if you are slowing yourself down. Sometimes an outside perspective is what is needed, and that's where a coach can bring value. Even after achieving great success, Trevor still has a business coach and an accountability partner. Coaches can assist you in making a larger impact on the world while creating the life that you really want. New investors should seek out people who have already done it to avoid a lot of strife. Trevor tries to avoid investing with emotions, rather than raw data, to avoid making unwise investments. During his free time, Trevor likes to chase adrenaline by traveling all over the world with his family. 3 Key Points: After establishing his own real estate investment success, Trevor began coaching those around him and eventually found his way to coaching on Tony Robbins's team. The fear of failure often prevents them from ever finding success. Failure is how you become who you are meant to be. 5 things that people do that lead to failure: limiting beliefs, lack of a strategic plan, lack of support systems, poor time management, and lack of execution and course correction. We are going through, what Trevor McGregor calls, a Global Pattern Interrupt, which is causing major upheaval in our personal and business lives. It’s difficult for many at this time to become the victor instead of the victim of circumstance. So, how does one accomplish that lofty goal of victory in such crazy times? It all starts with a healthy mindset, that is anchored in positivity and growth.  Today’s guest, Trevor McGregor, has been instrumental in my success, as he was my coach and my mentor. Every time we speak, I learn something new, and am pumped to make things happen! They all seek him for one reason: life-changing transformation.  Today Trevor brings his expertise in helping others realize their true power and hidden potential to achieve more success through detailing four easy steps to reset your mindset to victor! We discuss getting out of your own head and breaking your negative mindset and recalibrating for success. We have a critical discussion on the global business ramifications of COVID19 and the real estate investment opportunities, which will substantially grow during the rest of 2020 and beyond. On Nature as musical instrument, pauses as assets, honouring the elders, everyday ceremony. Includes a bonus track of Ram Dass x East Forest. Derived from the German translation of his last name, East Forest (aka Trevor Oswalt) creates a hypnotizing brand of music for old souls that blends achingly emotional wordlessness, ambience and contemporary classical touches with a touch of pop sensibilities and electronic flavors. Based in Boulder Utah, Oswalt performs internationally and is armed with a live show that is continually evolving; sometimes performing solo, sometimes with a string section, and often with theatrical elements and cinematic projections. With experiences offering music in a hospice, as well as backpacking explorations throughout the wilderness of the world including the Amazonian jungle searching for spiritual answers, his music is a connected journey that's been dubbed "a revelatory excursion in sound" (Under The Gun) that invites listeners to "go on a journey of self discovery" (Earmilk). He's been featured on NPR's Second Stage and Tiny Desk Contest, and shared the stage with artists ranging from Trevor Hall to Crystal Bowersox (Amer. Idol), Bluetech to Moby. His 2016 collaboration with MC YOGI, Ritual Mystical, went #1 iTunes Electronic, #8 Billboard Dance and #2 Billboard New Age. EAST FOREST's newest release, "RAM DASS" is a full length album releasing in collaboration with the acclaimed spiritual teacher. In June 2018, East Forest was invited to Maui to record brand new teachings from Ram Dass. After capturing these words of wisdom East Forest returned to his studio to compose the soundtrack to beautifully support each songs’ subject. Covering topics such as dark thoughts, nature, the soul and so much more, these songs are full of inspiration. The album will release in four “chapters” throughout 2019, culminating in a full length release on August 9, 2019. Trevor Hall has been in the green industry all of his life. Trevor’s first source of income was cutting the neighbor’s lawn. Later in life, he began a summer job at the University of Calgary grounds and maintenance department, which became a full-time position and was his first real introduction to the creativity around landscape design. This summer job exposed Trevor to all of the aspects of landscape and irrigation design and construction. His interest and curiosity led him to pursue an education in Horticulture through Olds College. Trevor’s thirst for knowledge took him back to the University where he completed his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Calgary. It was a natural step to take since his love for the outdoors, the development of outdoor spaces, and combine it with a business degree to do what he loved every day. Artemis Landscapes & Design Ltd was born and when she later needed a sister, Trevor purchased Calgary Sprinkler Systems adding underground irrigation and maintenance to their repertoire. A fantastic synergy between the two companies was born. What you’ll learn about in this episode: How Trevor started his company, Artemis Landscapes, by combining his horticulture and management degrees into business ownership Why Trevor purchased his second company Calgary Sprinkler Systems, and how both of Trevor’s businesses are rapidly growing How a major car accident a decade ago caused Trevor to lose his short-term memory and had a powerful impact on his business How Trevor discovered the importance of having systems in place for his business to help him get through the period after his accident Trevor shares how his wife and three daughters were the driving force that kept him going and kept him focused on his business What important lessons Trevor learned over the course of his career that he wishes he had learned earlier Why Trevor struggled early on to let go and delegate responsibility, and why trying to do everything himself was hurting his business How Trevor supports his team by allowing them to make their own mistakes and encourages them when things go wrong What key areas Trevor plans to work on in the next five years to take his business to where it wants it to be Additional resources: Website: www.artemislandscapes.com Website: www.calgarysprinklersystems.com

Webinars have been Trevor Turnbull’s only source of sales since 2010. He’s done hundreds of them over the years to sell his popular training programs like LinkedInfulence, a course that helps business owners and entrepreneurs leverage LinkedIn for lead gen. So, does he use live webinars or automated webinars to sell his products? Yes.   In this episode, Trevor shares the strategies and systems that make it possible to run his unique hybrid style combo of live and automated webinars as well as the valuable lessons, experiences, and observations that go along with 7 years of history.   Episode Discussions: Why webinars work so well in the business opportunity space The 3-minute pitch from a past SWW guest Joel’s used to increase conversions How webinars have evolved since 2010 - What worked then, what works now Hybrid approach: A sales mechanism for running both live and evergreen webinars Include this at the start of your evergreen webinar to build credibility and trust Why being transparent and building trust with your audience is so critical Why you should still run through your webinar with little to no audience How Trevor tested and refined his done-for-you offers using different price points Tweaks to improve your one-time offers A walkthrough of Trevor’s simple and effective lead magnets and webinar funnel Different price points and offers: What has and hasn’t worked over the last 2 years Crafting the perfect offer The power of the phone call Selling programs with vs without support groups Successfully building a support community around a program You don't need paid traffic to make webinars work! Tips on approaching LinkedIn groups for partner webinars and joint promotions   [3:28] Trevor's story: Worked in the pro sports industry and used LinkedIn to connect with people Connected with Lewis Howes and ran his sports recruiting website for years In 2010, sold LinkedIn course (how to get a job in sports) using webinars Now uses webinars to sell training programs that show people how to use and leverage LinkedIn for lead generation and conversion [6:41] How webinars have evolved since 2010: Then: It was easier to get people to attend because it was new and different. Then: You could go straight to a sales pitch. Now: People don't want to be pitched to. Now: The sales process is harder and there’s more competition. Now: Focus is on building trust, being honest and transparent about the work involved without giving false hope. [9:49] "What we've been seeing work really well is being transparent and upfront. We're actually making the offer within the first three minutes of the webinar."-JE [13:06] "People always think 'if I give the offer right away people are going to leave' and it doesn't happen because you're still going to give content."-JE [14:26] Trevor’s sales mechanism for running live and evergreen webinars: Does a combo of live and evergreen webinars each month. Everyone that downloads a lead magnet receives an invitation to a webinar. If the live webinar is within a week, Trevor's thank you page promotes the live webinar. Otherwise, registrants are directed to the evergreen webinar. [16:14] Trevor's evergreen setup: Uses EverWebinar Switched from GoToWebinar to Webinar Jam Opens with a 1-minute video that informs the audience the webinar is recorded His transparency maintains integrity and builds trust and credibility with his list.
