He said, “If anyone of you thinks of doing any job he should offer a two Rakat prayer other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer):اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ ارْضِنِي بِهِ‘Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi'ilmika, Wa astaqdiruka bi-qudratika, Wa as'alaka min fadlika al-‘azlm Fa-innaka taqdiru Wala aqdiru, Wa ta'lamu Wala a'lamu, Wa anta ‘allamu l-ghuyub. Welcome to TCR592 ok. We all know that in order to have a business we need to make money. And in order to make money we need to have clients. And in order to get clients, they need to know who we are and that we exist. And in order for that to happen, we need to be VISIBLE. And in order to be visible we need to put ourselves out there. And in order to put ourselves out there we need to …….. Well! The first ‘key' to putting yourself out there is to decide what it is that you want to talk about and what you're actually going to put ‘out there', right? Yes. ( I see you nodding there!). There are a couple of great things that you can do (almost right now) that work in tandem with each other: Regular content to educate, help and entertain your audience and secondly, putting out a lead magnet that you have put together to help them in a bit more detail on a specific problem. You need to know your niche! Not in a '40 years and struggling with the juggle' type of niche. What do they say? What is their self talk? What are their emotions? What are their thoughts? What actions are they taking / not taking / avoiding? Then. You need to know what they WANT. How do they want to feel? What do they want to do? What will this do for them? How will this change them? Then: You need to let them know what you've got for them and how it will help. Then, tell them how to access what you've put together. REMEMBER. There are two ways to use this copy. The first is on the ad or the post that you're going to put out there. Secondly, you'll have some copy (not much) on the landing page where they will enter their info to download. Simple! Hope it helps. If you're not having fun (or success) with your lead magnets let me know. I thought I'd throw together a mini-audit for you. $197 and a list of recommendations for you to implement within 48hours. BAZINGA! Nic x BTW. VISIBLE LIVE. Happening in about 4 weeks! Today’s Scripture: God, we have heard with our ears,Our fathers have told usThe work that You did in their days,In the days of old.2 You with Your own hand drove out the nations; Then You planted them; You afflicted the peoples,Then You let them go free.3 For by their own sword they did not possess the land,And their own […] The post Psalm 44 appeared first on Mary DeMuth.

Psalm 142-144 New King James Version   A Plea for Relief from Persecutors A Contemplation[a] of David. A Prayer when he was in the cave. 142 I cry out to the Lord with my voice; With my voice to the Lord I make my supplication. 2 I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble. 3 When my spirit [b]was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk They have secretly set a snare for me. 4 Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul. 5 I cried out to You, O Lord: I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. 6 [c]Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I. 7 Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me.” An Earnest Appeal for Guidance and Deliverance A Psalm of David. 143 Hear my prayer, O Lord, Give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, And in Your righteousness. 2 Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous. 3 For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in [d]darkness, Like those who have long been dead. 4 Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is distressed. 5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I [e]muse on the work of Your hands. 6 I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Selah 7 Answer me speedily, O Lord; My spirit fails! Do not hide Your face from me, Lest I [f]be like those who [g]go down into the pit. 8 Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You. 9 Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; [h]In You I take shelter. 10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. 11 Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake! For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. 12 In Your mercy cut[i] off my enemies, And destroy all those who afflict my soul; For I am Your servant. A Song to the Lord Who Preserves and Prospers His People A Psalm of David. 144 Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle— 2 My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge, Who subdues [j]my people under me. 3 Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him? 4 Man is like a breath; His days are like a passing shadow. 5 Bow down Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; Touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. 6 Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Shoot out Your arrows and destroy them. 7 Stretch out Your hand from above; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, From the hand of foreigners, 8 Whose mouth speaks [k]lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. 9 I will sing a new song to You, O God; On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You, 10 The One who gives [l]salvation to kings, Who delivers David His servant From the deadly sword. 11 Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood— 12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as [m]pillars, Sculptured in palace style; 13 That our barns may be full, Supplying all kinds of produce; That our sheep may bring forth thousands And ten thousands in our fields; 14 That our oxen may be well laden; That there be no [n]breaking in or going out; That there be no outcry in our streets. 15 Happy are the people who are in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is the Lord!

When Humility Isn’t Healthy and Pride Is Perfect When You’re Truly Small, Then You’re Really Big With Rabbi Ari Sollish (Recorded live at the Intown Jewish Academy on March 17, 2021) A curiously small letter appears in the first word of book number three of the Torah. With the help of a story about a famous Rebbe teaching his young grandson, what starts off as a lesson in humility turns into a much broader instruction on how to ace the balance between humility and pride.

Blessedness of Forgiveness – Psalm 32

Click here for Part 1 of this message. This text has been roughly tidied up from an automated transcription. Some errors may still exist. So let's move along here this morning. We were looking at last week at Psalm 51, and we want to have a look at a corresponding Psalm, which is psalm 32 and in Psalm 51:1 David makes confession and I was just reading from that and in psalm 32, he writes a song of the blessedness of forgiveness, and it's a powerful song and of course I mentioned last week that the background of these Psalms is to go back to 2nd Samuel chapters 11 and 12, and read the background story. David lusted after his neighbour's wife, he committed adultery, he made her husband get drunk, and then he had him killed, and then he covered the whole affair for at least a year, and David was a mature man when this occurred so sometimes we think that sins of lust are just the folly of youth, and we relegate it to that. So that is specifically wrong, and so sins of lust are not confined to the young, not in any way. But they are often committed by people who have an overconfidence in self, and that is something we we must face. 1 Corinthians 10:12 says, "therefore that him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall" and so, there is this tendency within mankind that we get a confidence within ourselves and as a consequence of that self-confidence we begin standing in our own strength, and standing in our own power, and then suddenly we fall, and we fall in sin, and that's a reality of life and all of us have experienced that or we've seen it in others, even those who have been saved for a long time and something has gone out of kilter in their relationship with God and they're relying upon their own strength in that, and as a result their pride steps in and before long they find themselves falling. So David's prayer of confession with Psalm 51 and we want to just read back through that and then we'll go into Psalm 32. Ps 51: 1-4 "Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge." David is not saying why Lord why me Lord, he's saying I've sinned against you and you're completely justified in in the actions you determine. Ps 51: 5-19 "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which You have broken rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be converted to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise. For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. By Your favour do good to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, In burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar." So let's go then - from David's confession in Psalm 51 let's go to psalm 32 and see his praise of God. Psalm 32 "A Psalm of David, A Maskil". A maskil is a song that is a didactic song in its purpose you know didactic means that it has a teaching element it meant the song was for teaching and this is a standard way of learning things that many people have employed. The ABC song is a didactic song it has a teaching purpose its purpose is to teach children the ABCs, I won't sing it to you it's enough that you have to listen to me talking without that but it means that the purpose of this song is that it has a teaching element to it and so David as he writes this song of praise there is an intention within the song that he would teach others about what he has been through and where God has brought him to. Ps 32: 1-4 "How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered! How blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit! When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away Through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer. Selah." Now the phrase Selah doesn't have a to my knowledge doesn't have a specific translatable meaning other than in in music you might see a term such as rest which is a pause within within music and obviously in music that has some syncopation that pause is going to be for a deliberated set a period of time. Now not so much in this but there's a pause and the reason that Selah is inserted into the Psalms often is that it's a pause for reflective meditation, and so this phrase Selah ties in to verses 3 & 4 "When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away Through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer." Now pause and meditate on this. That's the intention that you and I would learn this didactic song this song for teaching and we would then, as we reflect on it and read it over we would take time to pause and meditate over these verses attached to this time pause for us. Let's keep going because we'll come back to that idea a little later. Ps 32:5 "I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah." Pause and reflect on this. So the intention of this song is that we would work our way through the song and we would take time to reflect upon our own state before God, this is the intention of it verse 6 Ps 32: 6-7 "Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah." Pause reflect on this as well so David is writing here and he has these different stages within the Psalm and at these different stages of a person's walk he's saying pause and reflect on this, do some internal meditation on this, we're not talking in the eastern sense, we're talking on the biblical sense which is to take this passage of verse in and and plunder it around within the mind and within the heart letting this passage work its way deep within us, there's an injunction that we see immediately as soon as we start meditating over this passage in verse 6 Ps 32:6a "Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found;" There's an injunction that we'll come to a little later, let's move on to the remaining verses of the Psalm, So this is the Lord's reply to David here Ps 32: 8-11 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding, Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check, Otherwise they will not come near to you. Many are the sorrows of the wicked, But he who trusts in the Lord, lovingkindness shall surround him. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones; And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart." I can't hear you, shout for joy, you know most of us treat church like it's a library and when you read through the Psalms and through the scripture God's not afraid or ashamed of noise he's not ashamed of the you know the the genuine expression of the human heart in both sorrow and in joy in brokenness and in wholeness, He's not ashamed of these things and so the Lord is telling David, this is the Lord telling David, Ps 32:11 "Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones; And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart." And so often especially within the Western mindset we become so closeted in our emotions even the ones that we share with one another that we can also let that affect our walk with God and we can be closeted in that way as well. So just thinking back two weeks ago, before Salvi's message, his wonderful message I'd encourage you to go back over that. We looked at the cost of committing sin, so the cost of Commission. We looked at the cost of confession, there is going to be a brokenness that comes with confession of sin. A genuine brokenness that will accompany the confession of sin. The cost of cleansing that good works and religious performances cannot cleanse from sin, only the blood of Jesus can cleanse from sin, this is the high cost of you and I being cleansed from our sin, and that high cost of cleansing from sin ought to make us hate sin and turn from it to run from it. But there is another side to this story, so that's what we looked at the previous week, but the other side is the experience of the joy of forgiveness that is expressed in psalm 32. In fact Paul quotes David's Psalm in Romans chapter 4, the first two verses of it, Romans chapter 4 now I have taken this out of the new American Standard which places the verses in CAPS and when you're reading through the New Testament in the new American Standard whenever you see a text in capitalised letters, what what that means is it's a reference that has taken from the Old Testament, well we've been reading Psalm 51 and Psalm 32 and here Paul from his knowledge and experience of Psalm 32 he takes that passage and he quotes it, “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And whose sins have been covered." Now you can look up that passage in commentaries and you will see that quite a few commentaries take that passage and give a little summary of it. Kenneth Wuest in his expanded translation he translates the words "blessed" which essentially had the meaning of to be happy, but it's a little bit like the word repentance "Metanoia" a change of mind. Now a change of mind does not encompass the in the Greek it doesn't encompass the Hebrew intentions of the word repentance which carries with it a component of deep sorrow that leads to a change of mind, and so in the same way the word blessed doesn't simply mean happy as if some circumstances have occurred and so therefore we are for some reason happy. The the word carries with it a meaning of spiritual prosperity that there is a prospering within the individual because of some circumstances so blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled. So spiritually prosperous are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness because they will be filled. Kenneth Wuest, he translates this as "spiritually prosperous are those whose lawlessnesses, whose lawlessness is were put away and whose sins were covered spiritually prosperous is the man to whose account the Lord does not in any case put sin". Well what a an amazing statement and the reason it's amazing is because David was entirely guilty, he had committed horrible sin. Now hand on heart that's you and I as well we have committed horrible sins you and I. He had rebelled against the law of God, blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven. David had rebelled against the law of God these were lawless deeds. He had failed to meet God's righteous standard, blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven and whose sins have been covered, the term for sin means a falling short of the standard or the glory of God and so David he had fallen short he failed to meet God's righteous standard in keeping the law and so as a consequence of that he had sinned and here as David said in the in the beginning of psalm 32 and then as Paul quotes in Romans chapter 4, his falling short, his failure was covered by God. So he had failed to meet God's righteous standard he had surrendered to his sinful passions in this and had deceitfully covered up the whole matter for the year and this is a great tragedy. You could take proverbs 28 I just go over there proverbs 28 verse 13 Proverbs 28:13 "He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion." What an awesome correlation to this text that we're looking at here this morning, psalm 32. Let's just consider as we are reading Psalm 32 that there is a an effect upon us when when we cover up sin. There is a powerful effect. We call that the ravaging effect of sin. Sin is damaging enough to us but when we continue to keep it covered it is powerful in its effects within the individual, and David refused to confess his sin and there was an effect directly in his life he suffered within his life. Psalm 51 shows us that David suffered spiritually through his silence and in psalm 32 it shows us that he also suffered physically through his silence. Ps 32:3-4 "When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away Through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer." David is talking about some of the effects of the silence about his sin, that they had a devastating effect within him as an individual, he became like an old man. He says God's hand was heavy upon him and he was like someone that was struggling through the the feverish heat of summer and that he was experiencing that drought spiritually and physically within his life. Some people who go to a doctor to take care of their symptoms, some believers this is, should go to the Lord and search their hearts, I'm not saying don't go to a doctor this is not some Word of Faith garbage here, but what I'm saying is you and I may suffer, we may suffer within through the silence or the compression, the covering of our own personal sins and it can affect us within. We're not saying that all sickness is caused by sin, but it does mean that unconfessed sin can have a physical affliction, that's something for us to consider. Isn't that the emphasis of first Corinthians 11 when Paul talks to the church about the Lord's Supper and in verses 29 to 31 but starting with verse 28, "but a man must examine himself and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup for he who eats and drinks eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly for this reason many among you or we can seek in a number asleep "or dead that means but if and and so Paul is talking about believers who have died as a consequence of them not judging their own actions and the motivations of their actions and they harboured wrongfulness and in the process of that God took them out, that's that's what it seems to say, "but if we judge ourselves rightly we would not be judged but when we are judged we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world" so for the believer who is in error in his ways, there is a need for us to pause and to discontinue a process of covering up of sin so that we can rightly judge our hearts and come before God and be liberated from the effects of the covering up of sin. So God is at work in our lives and part of his work is to bring us to true repentance and in the process of doing that, bringing us to to repentance, God brings us to a place where we're restored in fellowship with him, and it seems to me the first Corinthians 11 these are people that Paul is speaking of who were out of fellowship with God, but were not under the judgment as sinners. But God judged God judged their sin, but he spared them from ultimate judgment as sinners will face. Now that's a topic for another day however just take note of that that there is a ravaging affect spiritually and even physically upon us as believers when we are silent about our sin. Now there is also within this passage a wonderful rawness of true confession. I think this is one of the most endearing aspects of David when you read him. He wears his heart out on his sleeve, as we're often recorded to say about individuals, David pours himself out and this is something raw, there is something basic, there's something powerful about the confession of sin. David said in verse 5 "I acknowledge my sin to you and my iniquity I did not hide. I said I will confess my transgressions to the Lord and you forgave the guilt of my sin" and so we'll take a moment to pause, you forgave the guilt of my sin, Selah, so we'll take a moment to pause and think about this. Literally David is saying I began to make known to you my sin. The wording is interesting "I acknowledged my sin to you" the wording is interesting because he is he's actually saying I began to make it known. And the idea is that it wasn't an immediately completed fact, it wasn't the simplicity of a prayer such as Oh Lord I've sinned, please forgive me, please forgive me Lord. That's not what David was doing here, but the indication of the text is that David was working this issue through with God. He began pleading with God over the state of his heart and over the condition of sin that he was in. David immediately confessed that he had sinned when Nathan spoke to him, but then privately David allows the Spirit of God to uncover his sins one by one, and this is the true nature of confession. Imagine a man who maybe has been dishonourable to his family in in various different ways and so then he realises that that he's being dishonourable in all these different ways and so he gathers the family and he says to them, look, I've got something to say to you. I'm sorry, please forgive me. Now there would be a lot of confusion in that in in in the sense that the family members who maybe are anticipating this and wanting to see the restoration of relationship between themselves and their father are probably hungering for a depth of Communion and confession to take place and so for the father to simply say, I'm sorry please forgive me. That's not going to cut the mustard as far as the family is concerned. "What are you sorry about" is going to be one of the first questions because how can we forgive you if we don't know what you're sorry about, and so it works the same way that as believers God is desiring truth in the inward parts he's desiring that you and I would come before him to be cleansed and that's going to require that you and I are honest with God in seeking that forgiveness and in confessing our sins and actually speaking them out to God and not just saying, sorry God, please forgive me. Because that doesn't cut it. That's not a raw sincere true confession before the Lord. David's prayer was not this general confession, he named his sins specifically before God and because he confessed, God forgave him. One writer said, "the less you spare yourself the more God will spare you". That's a phrase we would be familiar with, because we would have heard sometimes people say "I'll spare you the embarrassment". The less you spare yourself, the more God will spare you. The less you and I cover the more God will spare you .Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11 but if we judged ourselves rightly we would not be judged, we just read that out a moment ago in in 1st Corinthians 11, "for if we would judge ourselves we should not be judged", There is an emotional component to seeking forgiveness because the idea of seeking forgiveness, stems from the understanding of law-breaking, and just as every parent would desire for their children to come to them and and confess to them say mum, dad, I did this thing wrong and I'm so sorry, and be genuine about it. The idea of confession is that it comes from a brokenness of heart. We read that just a moment ago in Psalm 51 when we were going into community, "for you do not delight in sacrifice otherwise I would give it you're not pleased with burnt offering the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit a broken and a contrite heart O God you will not despise". And so God doesn't forgive simply because we confess, there is a an element to true confession that is accompanied by true brokenness, and that then causes in us a rawness to the sincerity of a true confession and if you've been a believer for any length of time you've met someone who has just outwardly poured out their heart about how they had disgraced God has just gushed out of them and and you're listening to them as they share with you the brokenness that they had in their lives and how they experience God's love and joy and even in telling you, many times, you're able to sense a reflection from this person's heart in your own life as to the the total sincerity with which they're speaking to you about how they poured their heart out to God. And God doesn't simply forgive just because of prayer it's not just that we recite "our Father who art in heaven hallowed by thy name". He forgives when we confess our sins because he is faithful and just, and because we are in a place of sincerity about recognising the condition of our sins, and how we have violated God's law and violated our relationship with him. He is faithful to his promise and he is Just concerning his reference to the cross. You see forgiveness is found at the cross of Jesus Christ and therefore we don't earn forgiveness. The coming to God in in a condition of confession of sin is not to earn forgiveness, it's a simple step of obedience, confess your sins. This is a step of obedience that we would honour God with that. Romans 8:31 through 39 says "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;" So if you and I have been justified by God through repentance and faith then who can bring a charge against us. It's God who justified, He's dealt with it and how did He deal with it? In the cross of Jesus Christ. That is the justice of God. So it's in his hands. Romans 8:34 "who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, “For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." God's love is not a random thing, it is in Christ Jesus our Lord. And we in Christ Jesus through repentance and faith, and therefore the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts through repentance in faith. So forgiveness is tied to confession of sin because God is faithful and just. That's a phenomenal thought isn't it, that God calls us to confess our sin to him because he is faithful and just to forgive. Now let that just sink in for a moment, this is a Selah moment, we pause and reflect and you wonder for a moment. Lord what sins have I committed what sins are unconfessed between me and you. He's aware of them, in our calloused hearts we may have become unaware of them, not that they're not there, but that we have become so calloused that we're committing this sin without even giving heed to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Let's move on here this morning, so we've looked at the ravaging effect of silence. The raw sincerity of true confession. Let's have a look at the rejoicing of cleansing. David's brokenness and rawness of his confession was replaced by singing and rejoicing God put songs in his heart and I know that there are more than one of you listening who have had that experience of coming to Christ and experiencing the forgiveness of sins. And there just seems to be this thing of rejoicing and singing with in your heart. Ps 32:6 "Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach him." Now let's do a little translation of that. Surely the flood of great waters, that flood of great waters will not reach him, the disaster will not overcome him. Ps 32:7 "You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah." Again we come across this this pause for reflection. So he is surrounded by songs of deliverance and wherever he turns, this means he's finding something to sing about. What a turnaround from Psalm 51 verse 3 where my sin was ever before me, he said. Now he's surrounded by songs of deliverance. Look what the Lord has done, greater is He that is in me, you know his heart is bursting forth with song, it's no longer I who liveth. I'm obviously singing from the New Testament experience, but David said "I know my transgressions and my sin is ever before me" and now he's saying "you preserve me from trouble you surround me with songs of deliverance" so there is turnaround, why because of the confession that he went through. Now there's a warning here in this text. Verse 6 says "therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. So there's a warning here about timeliness, he wants us that that we should not delay in seeking God. Pray to you in a time when you may be found. Now this may have two meanings it may mean that in a time when we find out our sins, so as soon as we become aware of our sin and seek God. And it may also mean in a time when God may be found. And I think the second meaning leads toward this idea that the longer we harbour the sin in our hearts, the harder our hearts become and the more difficult it becomes for us to open up before God because we've been harbouring this sin. And our hearts have become calloused. And so with that I think there are some different interpretations, but I think there may be a combination of these two mixed together here, Remember he says in verse 6 "therefore that everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found surely in a flood of great waters that were not reach you. So as overwhelming as the acknowledging of our sin before God maybe, persist in seeking God with it while you're in that state of heart, don't let it go. Now I think it is genuine to the text to state that if a believer allows sin to accumulate, we're talking about a believer here, if they allow sin to go covered, so it's covered over and they're harbouring it. I think it's fair to say that Hebrews 12 teaches us that God will chasten us and that chastening is for a specific purpose that in the process of God chastening us. We'll go to Hebrews 12, then in the process of God chastening us, He is correcting us for a purpose. Heb 12: 4-5"You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, Nor faint when you are reproved by Him;" My son do not despise. So God speaks to his children and the author of Hebrews reminds him that, listen don't treat this lightly have you forgotten they God says he will chasten his children. Heb 12: 6-7 "For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.” It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?" So God has a purpose in the discipline he brings into our lives and it may be that the chastening of the Lord might be likened to these waters that will not overwhelm, surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach him, so God will use the circumstances of life, He will bring about circumstances in order to chasten us so that we will come to Him in reflection and in confession of our sins. So the caution for us is confess quickly, don't delay with confessing. David, as a consequence of his confession he's not afraid anymore. We read in verses 6 & 7 of psalm 32 "Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach him." There's a confidence there, surely he says, then you are my hiding place, you preserve me from trouble, you surround me with songs of deliverance. So his confidence is in God. David is now not living in fear, he's not trembling, his bones are not quaking within him, his body is not wasting away. He is not feeling like somebody who is parched from the hot dry summer Sun, this is the blessing of being in right relationship with God. That out of that right relationship with God fear is vanquished with the presence of a clean conscience. And that that's something that money can buy. The Beatles said "money can't buy me love" but that is something money can't buy you. That comes out of relationship with God. In a sense David is saying, let troubles come, I'm not afraid, whatever comes my way is only by the Lord's hand anyway. He's allowed it to come so he will give me strength to withstand. Even the most onerous assaults of the enemy, David says they're not an issue. God will strengthen me to stand. Let's move on as we come to a close in this so we've looked at the ravaging effect of silence. Looking at the top three points here. The ravaging affective silence the roar sincerity of true confession the rejoicing of cleansing let's have a look finally at the expression of joy and confidence that comes, because verses 8 to 11 this is God's reply to David God is now speaking to David and he is assuring him that he will direct his steps. Verse 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way in which you should go I will counsel you with my eye upon you, he restores my soul Psalm 23 verse 3 says he leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Notice that God wants to counsel you with his eye. Now this is far different to being corrected with a rod. In other words the intention of God is that you and I would be in such a relationship with him, that it's a little bit like a parent who may do this to their child, and the child responds or the parent raises both eyebrows, or frowns. And the child instantly is aware for the parents that looks like this as if the child is to divert their attention to something and then goes to do it. And so God wants to guide us with his eye, not with a heavy rod. And an obedient child learns the look of his or her parents eyes, they they learn to understand the directive that parents are giving from a look or from a simple phrase and we should be seeking to be constantly under the father's eye, learning to live so we can please him. In verse 9 David talks about two extremes, and he says in verse nine "don't be as the horse or the mule which have no understanding whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check otherwise they will not come near to you." Now this is the Lord remember, speaking to David here, and he's saying don't be like this, don't be like a horse and don't be like a mule. I've been around a lot of horses they can be flighty don't be like that, don't be impulsive, don't be like a mule, and there's more than one or two mules in my family history and the Irish Scottish and English renowned for stubbornness, in fact probably every culture is in some way. The horse that rushes ahead and the the mule that is stubborn, they're both led by the bit in the mouth that bit that is uncomfortable for them and so they learn that when they try to fight and they try to resist that bit that it's uncomfortable for them and so they learn to be moved in the right direction. And so Christians should avoid impulsiveness and stubbornness, these are two extremes that we are to avoid, and so this is the Lord speaking to David. David's gone through all of this and the Lord is now saying to him you know avoid these things. God is directing our steps and as a process of that is saying this and as you walk with me avoid impulsiveness and avoid stubbornness, these are important things. Especially when you consider these statements in the light of 2 Samuel 11 and 12 and in the light of Psalm 51 and Psalm 32, David impulsively got himself into sin and then stubbornly covered it up for over a year. So this is this is very relevant to what the Lord is saying to David and so Christians should avoid both of these kinds of behaviour, we should walk with the Lord and a step at a time in loving obedience. Now some Christians have to have the bit in the bridle before God can control them and over time God teaches them tenderness of heart to walk with him. That is what God desires for us that we would have a tenderness of heart in walking with Him. Dumb animals have no understanding, but God's people learn to understand what the will of the Lord is. You can check out Ephesians 5:15-17 "therefore be careful how you walk, verses verse 15 says not as unwise but as wise making the most of your time because the days are evil so then do not be foolish but understand what the will of the Lord is. So we often as Christians have sinned and being restored. So from that point of restoration that's not a time to rest on our laurels now is the time you know in that point of restoration that's the time that we would begin to open our hearts up to God and learn to walk carefully and circumspect with him and understand what the will of the Lord is for our lives. Satan will try to undermine our peace and our confidence in the Lord, it's very easy for us to begin to worry about the past and the consequences of our foolishness, but who will separate us from the love of God. We've read that just before it Romans chapter 8, go back there and check that out, because there are definitely better fruits from disobedience but verses 10 and 11 show that God protects and upholds those who belong to him. Verse 10 many other sorrows of the wicked but he who trusts in the Lord loving-kindness shall surround him, be glad in the Lord and rejoice you righteous ones and shout for joy all you who are upright in heart. The wicked have many sorrows. That's what the Lord says there. The sorrows also come to the lives of disobedient Saints, the rain falls on the just and on the unjust. Since both disobedient and obedient will experience trial and tribulation in this world, this side of eternity. So this is not as I said earlier a word of faith message. But when we're walking in obedience and in relationship with God those trials and tribulations we are able to count as blessings in our lives because we see the will and the purpose of God in it. So it is that the Christian who has been cleansed from his sin, he sees the hand of God in those trials and in those difficulties and he may even actually rejoice in them that's through those trials and difficulties God has turned his heart away from his own stubbornness and back to their tenderness of confession and relationship with God and restoration. So confession is a powerful thing. Now remember as we come to close, that confession results in a past that is forgiven, a present that is joyful, and a future that is built on a secure hope in Christ Jesus. And that's a marvelous thing. So let's just consider for a moment, we mentioned at the start that the heading, if you have a Study Bible of the the psalm, is a Maskil. The meaning of this is that it's a didactic Psalm in its purpose, meaning that it has a teaching purpose. How blessed is he or how spiritually prosperous is he whose transgression is forgiven whose sin is covered how spiritually prosperous is the man to whom the Lord does not multiply iniquity and in whose spirit there is no deceit. So with that, given that this is a teaching Psalm and it has three deliberate pauses in it where we are to reflect at certain points within the psalm. I would ask you, what sins are unconfessed between you and God? What is there that is unconfessed? What is there that you must make right with the Lord? This is a sincere and important question for us all to answer. What must I come before the Lord with? As I seek that joyous fellowship with him as my father who will direct me with the tenderness of his eye, rather than with the severity of a rod. And you know I'm thankful that I have experienced the rod of God's correction in my life but you know I much prefer being in fellowship with and taking the direction of his eye. Hallelujah praise the Lord, a past forgiven, a present joyful, and a future secure. What a wonderful Psalm this really is, it's it's such a tremendous blessing to us and a real encouragement. Because David he was someone who so much was just like us, and you know he struggled with things he was a man subject to his own passions impulsiveness and stubbornness all these kinds of things and that's what God deals with in this this Psalm, and in the closing verses when God speaks to him. So we can find in this some resemblance to ourselves. Our Father we thank you for today. We praise You Lord God that your word is not the sterilised record of insincerity, but instead Lord it is the inspired recording of an engagement between you and humans, And that engagement included many sins, many sins even of those whom you used mightily and so we thank you Father that even David who was in scripture called your friend, failed at many points and Psalm 51 in psalm 32 a record of his response to one such failure. So we praise You Lord this morning help us to learn from this help us to go over these Psalms and really meditate over them to see how you would bless us. Help us Lord to be tender-hearted before you and recognise our sin and confess it to you without delay. In the mighty name of Jesus the Messiah. Amen, praise the Lord.

Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight— That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my salvation, And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise. Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, With burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar. It is normal that no two people are exactly alike. Not even twins. So the word normal should not be confused with the word average. If you leave your fingerprints on something, you might as well leave your name and address since no two people have the same prints.  You hear music and see a sunrise differently from any other person. You might enjoy a movie that your spouse would do anything to avoid. You might like being in a crowd of friends while your spouse prefers an evening being just the two of you.  When you say, “I want my child to be normal,” you don’t mean average, and you shouldn’t. What you mean is that you want your child to grow up with their own abilities, talents, likes, and dislikes. So to be normal is not to be average; it is to be different. But for some reason, we are not comfortable showing our differences because we think society is expecting something we are not. We present one face to the world, as a rule, and another one to ourselves. There are millions of people who feel inadequate just because they’re not like what they think they see around themselves. They’re not inadequate at all. It’s just that they've never understood that we’re not supposed to be like everyone else because no one is. We’re supposed to be ourselves and realize that we are distinct individuals. Face it, we are all quirky. Take a look at the great thought leaders: Socrates stood for hours in the snow, oblivious to the wind and cold, working out a philosophy problem; Churchill walked into the bedroom of the president of the United States with only a towel wrapped around his waist; Einstein could go a whole lifetime without giving a thought to whether or not he needed a haircut. Are these people normal or abnormal? They’re normal. That is the way they do things -- which is their normal.  I’m sure there are lots of people who are keeping themselves from something they’d like to be doing because none of their friends are doing it. The truth of the matter is that they would be normal to follow their own natural inclinations, since no two people are alike, and they are in fact being abnormal in copying their friends.  If you try to conform to the crowd, you’re trying to act as people act on the surface. It isn’t you. What’s normal for you, for me, is not easily discovered. It is not found by looking around at other people. It is found only by inward searching, by the knowledge of “who I am,” not by watching “others.” Each of us is outstanding in some way. Every person on earth has a superpower for something. When we find it, life takes on a new meaning and excitement. When you committed the effort to develop your superpower, a lot of other people will wish they were like you. But they shouldn’t. Being normal is being what you are as an individual. This applies to everyone including those that society labels as “not normal” such as those on the autism spectrum. Rather than someone on the autism spectrum trying to act like people who society thinks of as “being normal”, what is wrong with them being themselves and acting their normal? We as a society have defined normal based on some artificial standard we see around ourselves. Society has never understood that we’re not supposed to be like everyone else because no one is. We need to realize that each person is a distinct individual. So what are the steps to being content with being ourselves?  Everybody Knows: You can't be all things to all people. You can't do all things at once. You can't do all things equally well. You can't do all things better than everyone else. Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's. So: You have to find out who you are and be that. You have to decide what comes first, and do that. You have to discover your strengths, and use them. You have to learn not to compete with others, Because no one else is in the contest of “being you”. Then: You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness. You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions. You will have learned to live with your limitations. You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due. And you'll be a vital part of society. Dare To Believe: That you are a wonderful, unique person. That you are a once-in-all-history event. That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are. That appearing normal is not a puzzle you need to solve. And you will be comfortable being your unique self and not someone else.   Each and one of us is a mystery and a miracle. What a shame it is to try to paint over the amazing you with a likeness of someone else.  To be normal is to be ourselves — and never to be average.

Messianic Bible Teacher; Paul Cohen

Please note that all new messages by Messianic Bible Teacher Paul Cohen are loaded onto the Brit Chadashah website http://www.BritChadashah.com.au   Pondering Psalm 51 For the choir director. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. 1 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. 4 Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge. 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. 6 Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom. 7 Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which You have broken rejoice. 9 Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be converted to You. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise. 16 For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. 18 By Your favor do good to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, In burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar. New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update, (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Ps 51:1–19.

Kim McMillen, “When I loved myself enough I became my own authority by listening to the wisdom of my heart. This is how God speaks to me. This is intuition.” Take command of your authority. AUTHORity starts with “AUTHOR” for a reason. I’ve written and published 3 books, my most recent one being Date Yourself Well. It became an Amazon #1 Best-Seller in 3 days! I learned a lot from this experience, and one of them was how to own my authority. Here’s how to OWN your authority, like a Boss. You must first listen and hear. HEARt starts with HEAR for a reason. Allow what you HEARD to become the WORD you share. Allow what you HEAR from your HEART to become your work of art. INtuition starts with IN for a reason. God speaks to us and through us. You are the messenger. There’s truth written on your heart. There are desires within your heart and soul. Give yourself time to begin listening and hearing from your heart. Give yourself time to begin writing this sacred LOVE STORY. Write it. Like an author. As I got quiet, heard, and listened, I then shared my story on those pages, I told. Then... You must share it. Like a publisher. Then… You must speak it. Like an expert. Then… You must live it. Like a leader. AND... Live it like a lover. Be the expert of YOUR story. The story called your life.   YOUR LOVE STORY.  What story are you telling? Oftentimes we get so caught up in the things that don’t necessarily matter in our lives. We waste so much precious life TIME focusing on things that really don’t serve us, or the greater good. In a minute — a moment — life can change forever. We all need moments of truth that allow us to get back to what matters most. It’s here where we’ll remember our true purpose, and what matters most. Your LIFE matters. Your HEALTH matters. Your TIME matters. LOVE MATTERS. YOU MATTER. Don't waste a moment on what doesn't matter or ISN'T working. Whatever you’re going through today, you must ask yourself the question, “How’s this working for me?” Then YOU can decide what you’re going to do about it. What matters MOST to you? You’re HERE right now. Make choices that are rooted and grounded in truth. In what matters most. Today. Don’t wait. It's time to get your life working! If “it’s” not working for you, change it. Here's your host, Dave Woodward. Everybody. Welcome back to funnel hacker radio. This is going to be a lot of fun today. Uh, I've been trying to get Speaker 2:       00:22         this woman on my show up for ever and she's so busy. You've got so much stuff going on. So you guys are in for a massive tree. I want to introduce you guys driving to Milan. Malcolm. Speaker 3:       00:31         Hey Dave. Thank you for having me. Speaker 2:       00:33         So we have something in common now and that is, I don't know if you know, uh, my oldest son, Chandler just got married and he married a Chilean. Speaker 3:       00:40         I had no idea. Congratulations. Great. Speaker 2:       00:44         It was a great choice. Super excited. And so a Francisca Benevidez. I'm going to have to learn Spanish now. Are you ever coming to killer? Then? You know what, we'll have to talk more about that later, but the answer is going to be obviously yes, at some point for sure. I just don't know when she's talked a ton about it. She lived down in Santiago and a couple of other places and again, it's place. It's becoming much more near and dear to my heart all of the time and we've talked about expanding click funnels into the Latin Marta anyways, and again. It's a ton of fun. We're excited about that. There's such a huge opportunity, huge opportunity for the whole digital marketing space. Again, it's, I know you've done a ton in that market. You're a huge affiliate marketer. You've done tons of two comma club winner with click funnels and just such an honor to have you on the show. So thank you so much for taking the time. Speaker 3:       01:33         Thank you dave. Speaker 2:       01:34         So want to find out, first of all, tell people a little bit about your background. I know you've, uh, you've done a lot. You've got a podcast right now. You're on podcast is beyond the hustle.com. You've interviewed some huge people, Gary Vee, and I know grant cardone you've been bugging the crap out of me to get Russell on the show. I know that we will, but uh, it's one of those things where, again, I'm just so I'm happy to see your success, but I don't know if I want other people to know what you've done, so if you don't mind just take a few minutes and kind of introduce yourself to our audience. Speaker 3:       02:07         Yes, for sure. So, well, as you said, I'm from Chile and I have been doing digital marketing for the past 10 years or so when I was at my first job, my first and last job. I'm very glad for that and I was really fresh out of university. I was really, I was ready to become another brick in the wall, you know, get a job, a work until I get old and retire and Blah, Blah Blah when really out of the blue it was a colleague at work that approached me about a multilevel marketing thing and I had never heard about it. I was like, hmm, what is this thing? Oh yeah, it's like herbalife, but it's different. Okay, sure. Um, and so that was really my first approach at doing something for myself like my entire life. While I was at at university, I never ever tried to do anything related to entrepreneurship. I was too shy. I am. I hated speaking on stage or in front of people. Like really? I was really different and so I'm really grateful for that experience even though I didn't do well at all with that business. Speaker 2:       03:22         That's important for people to understand and know that you know what that's okay. And most important is it's that effort. It's what you learned about yourself. I love network marketing because it's probably one of the first entrees and a lot of people have into their own business. So I think it's great. Speaker 3:       03:36         Exactly. Like I think it's the easiest way to get a taste of what it's like to be independent. And so I'm super grateful for the experience. I learned a lot. I learned what not to do, especially because, because really where the girl who started me into this, she had no idea what she was doing. She was making lists of friends and family and stuff like that. Um, and luckily I went on Google and that's how I discovered a bunch of gurus that I still follow today, uh, who were talking about how to do network marketing the right way and they were talking about attraction marketing and all of this brand new concepts for me. And I dive deeper into it. I got on social media, I started building my personal brand, my first blog in 2009. I'm in Spanish at the time. I wasn't getting into the English market yet even though I always loved the language. Speaker 3:       04:25         And, and slowly I started making a name for myself locally here in Chile. I started getting interviewed by newspapers. Hey, so you're doing this twitter saying what is it, how do you do it? How do you have so many followers? So like, well, I just add value. I just, you know, I just post things that I find interesting and I share them with people and they reshare them and they follow me and stuff. Um, and that's how I started. And then a couple of years later I was able to quit my job because I had a few clients, I wasn't even trying to get clients, but a few people saw me doing social media and doing it well and they asked me for help. So I said, sure, I can help you with your twitter with your facebook. And that's how I started really. And, um, I'm, I'm really glad for that because that opened a lot of other doors for me. Um, I discovered a lot of things that I didn't know were possible to do online. Right. For me, the Internet was for entertainment research. Speaker 2:       05:22         Well, I want to dive in and talk about one of the things I saw on your blog that you spoke at affiliate summit west. Speaker 3:       05:29         Um, yeah. In, in Las Vegas in January. Now I'm speaking in, in New York in July. Yes. Speaker 2:       05:34         So for those people who aren't familiar with affiliate summit is a huge event. Uh, they have an east coast or the West Coast, New York and Vegas once a, basically a spring or a January event and typically October in the summertime. And the cool thing about is they typically only bring on people who are big affiliates who can help other people become affiliates. So the people who are listening to understand marketing, clickfunnels has their own affiliate program where you actually, we pay you to basically promote click funnels, similar to how other Amazon, anyone else basically pay people who basically byproducts or things through them and every product or every company will have a lot of different affiliate type of marketing. You've done an amazing job at affiliate marketing and so if you don't mind, how does a person from Chile all of a sudden get the stage in one of the biggest stages for affiliate marketing in and then not only does an amazing job in January, but gets invited back to speak at the New York one. So tell people about your experience to feel like marketing. What are the things that you've done? One of the things that work and affiliate marketing and obviously telling people those things. Yeah, Speaker 3:       06:37         absolutely. Yeah. So well, my first approach at affiliate marketing, I again like with with network marketing, I didn't know what I was doing. I was just grabbing links, posting them around, um, but then it was what I said before about the whole concept of attraction marketing. That's what's made the difference for me building a personal brand where instead of spamming people with affiliate links, right? Oh, hey, buy this software because it's so great, you know, uh, or buy this ebook or whatever. Instead of doing that and trying to get people to buy right away, you first add value to them. You either write a blog post about it, you make a video about it, you tell people about it, you add value, teach them something, and then you can recommend whether it's something that you made yourself, your own course, your own program or an affiliate marketing platform such as with click funnels has, which by the way recently I made my first 10,000 in commissions with click funnels without even trying that much. So I'm like, okay, I gotta take this more seriously. Speaker 2:       07:37         You really do because I want when I want to promote and basically have you pay for one of your cars. So that'd be good. Speaker 3:       07:42         I want see it. Trust me, I have a plan I haven't thought so. That's really, and for me with affiliate marketing, I have to promote something that I've tried myself first because you can go on a ton of websites such as clickbank, Jv, zoo, and the bunch of others. You can find whatever you want and get an affiliate link and then posted around the Internet and get a commission, but it's so much more powerful and it really sets you apart when you have tried the software that Ebook, the program, um, and then you can speak from experience and genuinely recommended to people because people are looking for that. People are looking for people they can trust. Uh, there's just so much going on on the Internet that it's really simple to set yourself apart by being yourself, creating some valuable content and then recommending something. And of course, paid traffic place of really important role there. For me, I've made a lot of sales and affiliate marketing organically through youtube and other avenues. But when you, when you mix that with paid traffic, that's when you get a really, really good combination. Speaker 2:       08:50         Oh, I love it. So tell people I want to, if you don't mind, give people just a few ideas of what they can do for free if they don't have a budget and then later we'll talk about as far as patriotic, but if you don't have a budget. So first of all, I can't thank you enough for clarifying. One of the things that drives huge pet peeve of mine when it comes to affiliate marketing and that is I see a lot of people who think that they're just going to go find out whatever the best converting product is and that's what they're going to try to promote. There's, I think in today's world, authenticity and transparency is so critical and if you can say that, listen, I'm using this, I know it and it's funny. I've, of the 62 cars that we've given away, not one of those people has been an affiliate who doesn't have. It, doesn't use click funnels and I think that it kind of goes to if you want real success, you have to own use and, and really consume the product that you're promoting. So I appreciate your clarifying that. Speaker 3:       09:38         Yeah, definitely because it's a huge misconception. People are always looking at what's the best offer, you know, what's the best offer to promote, what pays the most money that's not, that's not where your focus should be. It should be in, first of all, is it valuable because there could be a bunch of things paying really good money, but they're not good, they're not valued and, and then if you're not even using it, it's just not sustainable for you to promote something you don't believe in. Right. It's just for me, it has to be, you have to be authentic no matter what. Like that's very important for me. Speaker 2:       10:12         I appreciate that. So what are some of the free strategies that affiliate could use? Speaker 3:       10:16         Yeah, so for me, what has worked really well has been youtube. I mentioned, I mentioned it casually, I've been doing youtube videos on my first videos are not worth mentioning but been on, you'd have in a youth center the same way. It's like looking at an old photo album. So I, I've been on youtube since it started, like since before Google bought it, so 2005. Um, and I, I got on youtube just to watch, you know, music videos and stuff like that, but I started uploading my own videos around 2010 and those are the embarrassing videos that are still there. Uh, and mostly what I deal with youtube is I follow a lot of Gary v's advice, right? I do, I document a lot of what I do and I've been doing a Vlog. Um, and I upload a lot of videos where I teach something, so if I learned something new or implement something new and it works for me, I have a little whiteboard and then I go and I teach people stuff. Speaker 3:       11:20         People love videos where they can learn something where they feel they're getting value from you in, in a, in a classroom type of way, like literally with a, with a whiteboard or a blackboard. And they love that. They also, people love tutorials as well. I know when I started my podcast it was, there were so many things I had to learn that were brand new for me. So I, I did it. And then I went ahead and I met a podcast tutorial and I, Hey, this is how you start your podcast, right? Little things like that that you can do for free and that establish you as an expert in your field. So I have videos like that, tutorials, I have videos also. I do have a lot of lifestyle videos where I'm traveling and I'm sharing with people nice places where I go so that they see them walking the talk, right? Speaker 3:       12:08         Hey. So I talk about lifestyle and having a better designing your life, having a better life. I'm out there doing that, right? I'm investing in experiences and I'm investing in seminars, you know, uh, so all of those things, I document them, I make videos about them and then I upload them. And that's, that's probably the best free way that you can use today that you can leverage today to get traffic. So affiliate link in that to actually make money. So the cool thing about youtube is that now you can put links in the videos with this feature called Youtube cards. So you can actually talk about something and have a link pop up in the corner of the video, like, hey, check, check out this program or click here to learn more or something, uh, that works really well to generate leads. And, and then of course you have the description of the video and then if you have, you know, in the description, you can put a clickable link as well to whatever it is you're talking about in the video. Speaker 3:       13:05         I just have a call to action in the video and tell people, hey, the lincolns isn't the description. Um, if you know how to edit video, you can also just put the video, the link in the video so people see it and then they can type it on their browser. Uh, there's so many ways to get your affiliate link in there. Um, and the more, the more content you upload, the more consistent you are a, if you post your youtube video also in instagram and facebook and you blog about it on your website, et Cetera, you give it more distribution and then you have more options with more people seeing it. And finding it of course. So that's something that has worked for me really well. Speaker 2:       13:43         I think that's awesome. So Youtube has been probably one of the biggest things for you that you made mention of as far as if a person wants to go out and take those videos and they either use the videos or other assets to do paid traffic. What are some of the paid traffic sources of your funding that work real well from an affiliate standpoint? Speaker 3:       14:00         [inaudible] for me it has been mostly facebook advertising and Instagram, right? A lot of my ads, we put them on both platforms because you can do that directly from facebook. And, and what I do many times is I create shorter versions of the youtube video to go on a facebook ad, um, because people's attention span on facebook is lower than youtube because people go on youtube to watch videos on facebook. People do multiple things, so they're not willing to spend every. Depends on the video, but on average they're not going to watch more than two, three minutes. And that's already pushing it a bit. So I either cut parts of videos and just put a section of it and then I invite people hate watch the full video on youtube if I want to send them to my youtube channel that I, that's what I would do with a paid ad or if I'm inviting them, let's say a Webinar, I'm hosting a Webinar for something, I will create a video especially for that, especially for facebook, for facebook ad me introducing myself really briefly keep it under 90 seconds and just invite people to a special training where I'm going to be talking about this, this and this. Speaker 3:       15:10         Get the link register now. So I do that a lot for you too. Sorry for facebook advertising where I create videos especially for that. And I think the same video would also work on youtube if you wanted to do paid ads on Youtube, which I haven't done a whole lot of yet. Um, but the, the logic is pretty much the same. You know, you have a quick video invite people to something and have the call to action. Get them on the funnel, click the link and register. And there you can have either an affiliate opportunity that you're promoting or Webinar or a free Ebook, a free report, a video series. I mean there's just so many options, so many things you can do. So. Speaker 2:       15:48         So I'm paid stuff. You're always taking them typically to a landing page where you're capturing their information for follow up later. Speaker 3:       15:53         Exactly. And I either I do a lot of funnels where after they opt in I immediately have something to offer them right away. So if they opted in for something for free, hey check your email, your ebooks going to be there soon, but you know, stay with me for a few minutes because I have something else to share with you. And then I sell them something else or also in the followup sequence, invite them later to a webinar or something. So there's, there are always ways to add more value and be able to monetize the leads. But again, always figured out how to add value first before Speaker 2:       16:29         asking for the sale. That's been one thing that I've seen a lot of people have a lot of success with these days is actually putting on the thank you page, an offer a certain. Basically you're congratulating you. I know it's going to be in your email, all that stuff, but by the way, almost their thank you page almost becomes like an Oto page. Speaker 3:       16:47         That's exactly what I do and it works really well if you establish that trust and that rapport with people. Speaker 2:       16:53         That's fantastic. Well, I'm curious, you obviously do a lot right now with your pot, with your podcast, beyond the hustle. Are you using that to what? What's your purpose behind using the podcast are using that to sell affiliate products? Are you using it for your own products? What's the purpose behind that podcast Speaker 3:       17:07         for now? Like when I first started the the purpose lists too for branding really to to have presence in that platform because I had never had a podcast and I. I've been seeing how so many people are getting into it and I thought, okay, it's time that I get there and so for me it was a matter of branding myself even more. I'm not really selling anything there yet as I don't have like enough of a big audience yet to be able to sell anything I've. Maybe I could, but I wanted like the first few episodes to be just about the value and the few calls to action that I have. There are, Hey, follow me on instagram or hey, if you enjoyed it, leave me a five star review. A little things like that for now. But eventually of course I would love to go down the road as you know, with John Lee Dumas has been able to achieve with this podcast. Speaker 3:       18:01         Right. People like that where, where he's making a very good income every month from it and he's very transparent about it. Um, but, but yeah, at first is for me to and also to connect my audience with the people that I've been able to meet because I feel super grateful that I've, that I've been able to meet Russell on first name basis and Gary Vee on a first name basis, John Lee Dumas as well, like, um, and so I feel very blessed about that and being able to, to connect with my audience with them and ask them questions that questions that sometimes might be different than what, than what most people ask. And I always asked my subscribers and my followers, hey, do you have a question for this person? And I, I always ask questions from other people with my own questions, but I have sometimes a couple. Um, but, but yeah, it was, it was for me it was, it was looking for another way to add value and eventually being able to monetize it. That will be awesome. But for now it's, my main focus is getting, getting more subscribers, adding more value in getting more listeners and, and see what happens. Well, one of the things people always want to know is what in the world did you do to get to the two Comma Club status? Speaker 3:       19:10         Well, I did. Um, I did a combination of things because when I apply, who was, I think the rules were, I think the rules changed after that we started validating a much, much worse. Yeah, I think you guys got a little more strict with them, but when I applied it was not just one funnel necessarily. I had like two or three funnels and they all together. They did a little over a million dollars. So it was my coaching funnel, uh, was my event funnel and then it was affiliate marketing. So putting all those things together was a little over a million. I remember I sent all the screenshots and everything. Um, and that's how I did it, but it took me a little while. I mean, I was, when I started using click funnels seriously at the beginning of 2015, I had an account in 2014 that I was playing around with. Um, but I, I remember when I, the first time I met Russell was on a cruise. We were both on, uh, on, on the marketers cruise. Yeah. It was really funny because, uh, I have no idea he was going to be there. And I remember I was, I was looking. Is that Russell brand's? Oh my God, it's Russell Brunson. I have to go say hello. Speaker 3:       20:23         And um, and then, uh, and then he invited me to promote dotcom secrets. Like he gave me a flyer, hey, I've wrote a book and this is not, you know, nobody knows about it yet, but you know, here's a flyer for it so you can sign up as affiliate. I was so excited. We even did a video, a little video on the cruise ship together to promote DOTCOM secrets. Yeah, that's how I also made it on that leaderboard. Congratulations. Yeah. So, um, that's how I started really using click funnels where I met Russell there and I loved it. I've been using it ever since. And like I said, mostly it's been thanks to my coaching programs, my affiliate marketing promotions and yeah, that's how I got into the club and, and really it's been because I've always implemented what I learn in my own thing before I teach it, that I've been able to get some, some really good coaching clients and I've been able to put together some, some small events because a lot of people skip that step. They learned something and they want to teach it right away. I'm like, wait, you got to try it first, see if it works. And then you can teach. So yeah. Speaker 2:       21:33         Local in Chile or are they international? Where do you do most of your events? Speaker 3:       21:37         I've never done an event in chiller though. Surprisingly I've done, I've done a couple events in the US and one in London, in Europe, but I've, like you were saying earlier, there's so much potential in this market and I spent a lot of years doing content only in English because I thought there's no money in South America, nobody's going to buy this. And then at the beginning of last year I decided to branch out again. All right, let's do some stuff in Spanish. And whoa. I was blown away. Like there is so much demand and honestly not enough good offers. Speaker 2:       22:18         I think that's really critical. So tell me, as we kind of get close to wrapping things up here, I wanted to find out on your coaching program, what is it that you're actually coaching people? Speaker 3:       22:27         Well, I, I coach people on, on several things, but mainly I'm building funnels. I help people build their funnel. Like I like doing things with people as opposed to for them. Like I really want people to learn how to build their funnels. So I teach them that. I teach them how to run facebook ads. I teach them how to be good on video. So, you know, sometimes I have people who fly in all the way to Chile to work with me and I get my video team and we do branding videos for them, stuff like that. Um, I also work with people on, for example, our email marketing, their copywriting sales letters, uh, and, and when people are a little bit more, um, you know, at a stage where they still don't even know what they want to sell. Then I helped him with, you know, discovering what is it that they want to sell. Speaker 3:       23:15         Do you want to do affiliate marketing or do you want to do your own thing? Like let's, let's see what your personal brand would look like. What is your message, right? So starting a little bit from the, from the basics, what's your mindset, the right mindset that you need in order to do this? Um, and then with people who are more advanced and we go straight to, okay, let's build a new funnel and you have this offer, let's build a new offer, the Ebook, the, okay, what's your event funnel going to look like, your webinar. I help people build a Webinar. Slides learned much from Russell in that regard. So those are some of the things that I hope people do. Speaker 2:       23:50         So tell me, how do you get people into your coaching funnel then? Speaker 3:       23:55         It's built on click funnels. I have, I have a website called work with Carolina that common and when people go there they can see some testimonials and stuff and learn a little more, a little more about it. And then I have my application form there and everything. That's how they get in. I don't usually advertise it because, you know, I let people come in through different ways and then they either click on it because they find that on my main website or they find that at the footer of my emails because I don't like, I like being selective as well with the people that I work with. So really if they did the effort to find my coaching funnel, they really want, they really want to work with me then. But yeah, it's um, it's, it's something where if you want to advertise your coaching, I think it's much better to start with something of a lower ticket. Like start with an, with an online course like that. Those are the things where I do my ads and then when people come in from my marketing courses or affiliate marketing things or they enjoy my membership, then those people are highly qualified to do one on one coaching because that's something where you know, it's bigger investment, so you want to work with people who are serious and who you know already want to follow you and learn from you. So Speaker 2:       25:16         I love it. I think one of the things that you have mentioned there, which I know you've done an extremely great job of is you typically have in a lot of you email followup sequences and bother your pages. There's always other products or services they can buy through you. I think it's a great way of just having that always out there to for who knows how many times they're going to click on it, but all of a sudden it's like, you know what I do. I want to work with Carolina and boom, there's the click. So the fact that you have that in all your email sequences is a really cool thing. So congratulations on utilizing that tactic. Speaker 3:       25:45         Yeah, yeah. I always have on all of my emails, there's always a ps, whatever it is, there's always my sign out, my signature. Then there's my work with catalina that come with the bottom up without any call to action, but there is a ps, the ps, I always have a call to action. It could be, Hey, follow me on instagram, subscribe to my youtube channel. I opened up two new spots in my one on one mentoring program. Apply here. I always have something, but because I try to make sure that in the actual email, even if I'm promoting something else, uh, that I add some value that I tell a story, that I share something so that then people are happy to get to the PS and click on whatever it is that I, that I have there. And I think that's a really good strategy. And I got that mostly from Frank Kern. He always has a ps. Speaker 2:       26:37         Well, if people want to reach out to you and get ahold of you, what's the best way to do that? Speaker 3:       26:41         Uh, probably the best is I'm on social media really on twitter or instagram. It's at Catalina, Megan. Megan is m I l l a n just like, you know the dog whisperer. Spelled the same. It's the same last name. You know, people have people in the US, they always call me Carolina Milan. But uh, the, the, the double l is, it sounds like that. So instagram and, and also from my website, 39 midland.net or work with, um, I always, I was trying to respond to people and just, you know, I love talking to people, engaging with people who have seen me somewhere. After coding live at Lean+Agile DC 2018, Ben Scott of Ippon Technologies joins Bob Payne to talk code craftsmanship and getting proper feedback from the business side.  Ben explains a way to quickly build a quality demo from scratch – creating the first demonstrable piece of value.  Bob and Scott walk through their opinions on (shudder) best practices, living in ambiguity in agile methods, and bridging the gap between IT and business. Bob Payne: [00:00:03] Hi I'm your host Bob Payne. I'm here at Lean+Agile D.C.. I'm here with Ben Scott and we're listening to "Stand in the Place Where You are" by RBM played on the music fiddle version which is really disconcerting for me. It's like Fugazi. You know elevator music which is definitely elevator music. But country elevator music. So Ben we were talking earlier about lots and lots of things but you were talking about sort of your experience here trying to do live coding and talk. What was your what was the gist of your talk? What were you talking about with. Ben Scott: [00:00:56] So, let's start with the problem statement: Whenever you start a project from scratch mainly it's really hard to get good business demos and keep the business interactive with getting proper feedback. You'll see a lot of demos with terminals. Hey let's see what my code can do and you have to look at log statements or use post postman to demonstrate APIs. And then the business kind of glazes over it. And I think a lot of issues stem from developers trying to recreate everything internally. Someone has to provide a demo that even started a presentation with zero code I could provide a business level demo with a front end application backend with database usage deployed to the cloud. All within the same presentation within 45 minutes. So that was kind of the gist, some people really liked the felt it really demonstrated well what could be done now. They're probably unsure how to adopt down to their own organization but it's mostly a show that it is able to do that and you don't have to buy it. It's FREE.  Ben Scott: [00:02:14] It's opensource a tool that I use is called J Hipster and I think overall great.  Bob Payne: [00:02:23] Yeah I mean for those of us who've been familiar with play or Rails or any of the generative frameworks you know that it was not should not have been surprising but I realized how how painful it is for most organizations to get to that first demonstrable piece of value.  Ben Scott: [00:02:50] Yes.  Bob Payne: [00:02:51] It is a little a little insane.  Ben Scott: [00:02:53] It is. The key differences are with J hipster is it really tries to adopt the enterprise level technology. Bob Payne: [00:03:00] You see the full stack you've got full size containerized deployments.  Ben Scott: [00:03:05] You can you don't have to but it sure does generate Docker containers. I use the docker file to let you generate a Docker container from your code. It will generate your CD pipeline script. It supports multiple privacy circles C.I. Jenkins obviously and a few other really really kind of handhold you through the whole process of getting a code from scratch all the way to diploid and ready. It can't do anything about your business level code that's on you right. But all the bootstrapping and plumbing it generates according to best practices of the time with us.  Bob Payne: [00:03:45] I winced on the inside. I don't like the phrase best practices but best that I'm okay with. Ben Scott: [00:03:54] Yes well it's always a big debate. What is best practice. Like for depending on where you are which technology you're using and your opinion because it's a hotly debated topic Your Domain Driven Design or you don't. Some people really love it some people hate it. Yeah that type of thing.  Bob Payne: [00:04:12] Yeah I try to stay away because people always ask us for as consultants are always asking for the answer and there really only is know fee here given your situation. Here are a few options that we've seen people be successful. Yes you know and you know I always sort of try to steer people away from that. Like calling people resources. There's a few you like hot button words that I can't make can move resources around us our projects exactly rituals and scroll to find that I hate things that that pull it out of the somewhat grey world that we actually live in.  Ben Scott: [00:05:05] Yes I actually like to prefer I prefer to live in this ambiguity. I don't like to define what scrum is definitely. I don't like too dear to a Agile philosophy per se or implementation whenever somebody dresses. Hey what is ads out to you. To me it's you delivered a piece of software that was correct at the right time and how you got there might differ based on the people working in your company. Yes we might use Scrum or not. It depends if it's a good fit with that place and sometimes it's now or sometimes they just decide as long as we do what scrum says we are agile and we just get away from what they really mean.  Bob Payne: [00:05:50] Yeah. Defer to authority. There is a good strategy.  Ben Scott: [00:05:55] So I don't like to prescribe things.  Bob Payne:[00:05:57] Yeah.  Ben Scott: [00:05:58] When we hire Scrum Masters always ask me what's your process. What tool to use. You know you use Jira. I don't prescribe - you use what you like to use right.  Ben Scott: [00:06:07] Well your client will let you use yes whatever you is best for your situation which will change.  Bob Payne: [00:06:15] So how do you so I know you've been doing a lot of technical coaching coaching. What do you what do you find most rewarding. Because sometimes it's it's you know it's it's a tough slog sometimes and there are always those little nuggets that just say yeah you know that will keep me going for a few months banging my head against this team or this wall or whatever. Ben Scott: [00:06:43] So I really enjoy bringing upskilling developers on where they lack and I'm not a awesome developer. I'm a very niche developer who understand the agile practices so I can do their job testing frameworks Cucumber, or perform sensing as a Gatling I know how to do them and the basic forms right and the tools to know how to use them. Eventually it clicks at first like I don't want it. It is what QA is for but eventually it clicks and it's really fun to see a click. Likewise I work a lot with the business side on bridging the gap between developers and the business we actually start working together instead of the whole campus. This is the business that we need to take to go on like what we need is. Of course we do to this refactoring. We need to adopt this technology or just trying to bring them together so they actually work as a team and we'll stack clicks which is much harder than it was going developers. Bob Payne: [00:07:40] Yeah. Ben Scott: [00:07:41] That's that's really fun.  Bob Payne: [00:07:42] Yeah that is. Yeah. We like speed we have that sort of mission of making people's lives more valued fulfilling and productive. It's kind of our or our mission if we can do that on an individual basis or you know we health and organization so that it helps the folks. But it all fundamentally comes down to you know people people in interactions and you know hopefully making a you know a decent world for them to sort of grind away at the code code is an unforgiving.  Ben Scott: [00:08:21] Yes we'll spend days looking for that tiny little mistake.  Bob Payne: [00:08:27] Yeah yeah. So what's the other big dogmatic thing you're railing against. I don't know that you're actually railing against any big dogmatic things but you seem like the sort of person that might. Ben Scott: [00:08:41] There are some things I'm very strict on and it's is code craftsmanship to the detriment of sometimes I'm actually delivering value and I understand that. But there are times to be fast and dirty. You have a production bug.  Bob Payne: [00:08:55] Yep. Ben Scott: [00:08:56] There's a feature that needs to go to the market right away. OK we can do that fast and dirty. But if that's every time there's a problem.  Bob Payne: [00:09:06] Right.  Ben Scott: [00:09:06] And at that point I don't have any issues slowing everything down and I guess focus on craftsmanship. Let's focus on actually teaching what solid principles mean because over time you're going into being faster more maintainable code. The sustainable pace and that takes time to learn. It might take six months a year to really get there. It's a huge investment and it's the responsibility of the entire organization to to foster that. So just like we have the Center for agile excellence or you go to an agile coach organization talk about processes.  Ben Scott: [00:09:39] You should have a software craftsmanship as well a new way to mentor the developers. And that practice that's probably where I'm the most strict on.  Bob Payne: [00:09:51] OK yeah no that's ... Yeah. That's a good place to be strict I think. I often think of the three things that can make a great team. It's discipline, continuous improvement, and play the long game you know not the short term gain necessarily but product delivery is is not project right now. Ben Scott: [00:10:16] And I completely understand there's times we have to go really fast for whatever reason it is. Maybe there's a bug that's costing thousands of dollars. When it's in production.  Bob Payne: [00:10:23] Yeah. Ben Scott: [00:10:24] And yes. Quick and dirty fix but then think about it and fix it again the right way. Bob Payne: [00:10:30] Yeah. Well everybody. It's interesting because that the current understanding where the current sort of popular understanding of technical debt is that it is a bad thing and you know when they first started talking about it Ward Cunningham and and you know some of the folks on the first XP team actually used it in more the financial term debt. Sometimes you do take down. You know you go fast to be quick and you might incur some debt. You got to pay it down. Always cost a little bit more to pay it down. But sometimes that's the right decision. But when you're paying off the credit card with another credit card you're in drips.  Ben Scott: [00:11:20] That compounds quickly. Bob Payne: [00:11:21] Then You need to re platform the whole thing. Ben Scott: [00:11:26] And then it just never ends.  Bob Payne: [00:11:27] Yeah. Bob Payne: [00:11:28] And that's what the craftsmanship comes in play because if you instill those values when you build a new software and maybe you'll be a little bit better and last longer.  Bob Payne: [00:11:36] Yeah. So is IPPON primarily you know do you or most of the folks steeped in XP stream programming and.  Ben Scott: [00:11:47] So I would say most of us are what I would consider like Premier consultants as far as developers. Most of us are developers. So in that sense we're a bit different from most agile consulting companies. We focus a lot on the engineering aspect of agile versus the process and most of our developers don't always subscribe to Agile values. They like to get their stuff done and they're like good code and beautiful aspects that don't always adhere to delivering to agile way which is fine. But you couple that wish people would truly understand agile and you've just multiplied yet the actual value of it. It's like the cross-functional needed agile deep expertise to guide the ship but you still need a technical deep expertise on what good coding practices look like. Yeah and we also like to embed with our clients. We don't always like to take the whole project and then deliver at the end. We like to develop right and while we could develop we'll pair with them or we'll teach developed practices how to test and how to automate the whole thing and the whole the whole package. I think that's where our values will be different than other places. Bob Payne: [00:13:07] Yes. And we've you know at LitheSpeed we've been happy to be able to partner with the guys periodically because we focus primarily on the people in the process and you guys can focus on the technical chops.  Ben Scott: [00:13:25] Yes. Bob Payne: [00:13:25] Yeah. I'm primarily a PowerPoint engineer and there is no PPT unit.  Ben Scott: [00:13:34] No I'm really bad at PowerPoint.  Bob Payne: [00:13:39] I wouldn't say I'm good. But the reason I'm not very good is because there's no there's no unit test framework to how to get good. I was talking to somebody earlier because I I was when I was developing you know I got immediately test infected like TTD like real TDD not the ATDD or BDD. Not that those things are bad but that thinking and design process of TDD was an amazing force multiplier for me as not a terribly great developer. It allowed me to focus know where I was know that I hadn't broken something else because I couldn't keep every esoteric detail from the entire system. Ben Scott: [00:14:38] Yes.  Bob Payne: [00:14:39] In my head some people love that they loved the challenge of I've got every single detail in my head. But that doesn't scale. It does and test.  Ben Scott: [00:14:52] It's a good thing you brought TDD like I have my own opinions about it. And you're right. Some people love us some people hate it. And to me there's a lot of focus from the process scores to do TDD when developers aren't ready for it. Bob Payne: [00:15:06] Yeah yeah yeah.  Ben Scott: [00:15:07] Just like everything will be fine if you just do TDD.  Bob Payne: [00:15:11] Yeah I don't believe that to be true. Everything will be fine if you have engineers that are that are that really you know there I sort of look at the code and you can see the thought process of the developer in the code and that is much easier for me to read to read tested code than it is to to create an elegant you know you start throwing in some Lambda's there and we're we're we're parked. I mean because I struck part of my psychosis if you will. And I think it's reasonable to call it that around TDD as I started in Lisp and I don't know if you've ever tried to debug lisp or scala. It's probably easier now and in scala but there's just the interpreter. Back when I was doing this so you had a command line and you read in a file and something pops out and it is the most amazing black box in the world because it's just it's interpreted. It's a functional language and 42 is the answer, right? I forgot the question we asked in end. So unless you knew that those little pieces worked. Yes pull that out throw it into an interpreter and see if it give it some some values in and see if it makes sense because all it takes is a misplaced pen. It could be anywhere and it will usually evolve out to something that still works.  Ben Scott: [00:17:04] And I guess where I differ what it is like or I'm strict on tests in the same commit as the code.  Bob Payne: [00:17:11] Yeah.  Ben Scott: [00:17:12] I don't prescribe to. You must write a test first. Bob Payne: [00:17:15] Sure.  Ben Scott: [00:17:16] But it must be in the same commit. Yeah that's that's kind of where I differ. And some people are really good at writing tests first. Some are not. Bob Payne: [00:17:24] Yeah. Ben Scott: [00:17:24] But everybody should be able to write before or after, there's not. Never does ..That's Not allowed. Bob Payne: [00:17:31] Yeah I think it's a reasonable place to be strict. I think for me just I. Bob Payne: [00:17:39] I loved Arlo Belshee. I think it was our Arlo Belshee that coined the term test infected because some people either are or are not. And it's like you know that zombie strain virus. And I don't know which side is the zombie in which is the not here but I think the TTD folks are probably the zombies. But if you were when you find yourself on one side of that divide I think that the folks that actually like TTD and I know it is not universal. It's it's one of the more powerful and least used agile engineering practices.  Ben Scott: [00:18:15] Yes. Bob Payne: [00:18:16] I mean Pairing, people say they pair, but nobody pairs. I mean not like. Ben Scott: [00:18:21] Well not like extreme program where you must pair. Right. We like to pair for occasions like right. Here's a difficult piece of code. Let's work on it together or for mentoring. We'll pair for code reviews the type of thing we'll do some pairing for writing prose not so much right. How hard is it to write Pojos. You know it's so many people go down this rabbit hole to we test the setters and getters like I don't care. Like ok. Probably not. I'm OK. But really how long would it take you to actually do it if you said if everybody said we need to.  Ben Scott: [00:19:09] So. So interesting thing. So the debate by just writing a piece of code using reflection finds a perjures sets the value gets the value a certain done. So all my pages are tested automatically. Bob Payne: [00:19:25] Yeah. and now with generative frameworks it is it is relatively easy. I was cured of that debate because I'm not a great programmer. When I misformatted the way I created a Java date. And so when I made and I always know how to make your assertion not against the same constructor that you used. So I use distracted at this other date class add some other stuff in and misuse the constructor and when I assert it against the string format it value, i'm like "Well that's not right." And I don't know that I would have found that regular regular test or I would have I would have found like f'd up dates in the database or in the persistence layer or in the front end and I'm like I might not know. Then I've got a whole different problem but because I knew it I found out early that it didn't work like the debugging. For me it was just so much so much easier. Ben Scott: [00:20:36] And eventually you have to use common sense. You look at your POJO like well maybe I don't need to test every single one of them. But if you're serializing a date you should test that because for whatever reason it's so strict that the date format it will kill you application is different for might just use a whole AI behind it to be able to extract data and decide what date it is.  Bob Payne: [00:21:00] You guys likes you know you guys like screw up the order of the month and the day like what is this? Ben Scott: [00:21:05] It has Slashes no slashes. Bob Payne: [00:21:07] Dashes no dashes, dots..  Ben Scott: [00:21:10] Or you add milliseconds and you expect no milliseconds and it still won't truncate it'll just die right there. Bob Payne: [00:21:17] Yeah. Ben Scott: [00:21:17] So testing that. That's a good test. Typically also have a serialization test if it's data layer i'll serialize or deserialize back to the object, validate, but I might not validate.  Bob Payne: [00:21:30] You know that was that it was more important when he had to write her own serializer. Ben Scott: [00:21:37] Well I don't write my own serializer but I do write my own test for the annotations like for date format for example did you do the right format right. Does the precision matter or those type of things you have and I'm working on a project right now that for whatever reason the order matters. The order should not matter but whoever was sending it to they got that code where the order of your serialization matters and they can't just construct the object they actually validate it in its raw format first.  Bob Payne: [00:22:05] Okay. Ben Scott: [00:22:06] So then we have to validate that we send in the right Json format but in the right order each field. It shouldn't matter. At least in my opinion it should not matter.  Bob Payne: [00:22:15] No. But yeah well unless you want strong coupling in implementations which I'm shocked at how many are organizations really like strong coupling. Ben Scott: [00:22:33] I'm not sure they like it or just live with it. Bob Payne: [00:22:36] Yeah it's Like oh my god. It's like it's like the old Korbo or SOAP. Oh man. Ben Scott: [00:22:42] This is how we've always done it so we will continue. Bob Payne: [00:22:44] Yeah. Yep. So what else would do you. What's interesting to you in what hobbies do you have besides like? Ben Scott: [00:22:56] Kids.. Does that count as Hobbies? Bob Payne: [00:22:58] Yeah. Ben Scott: [00:22:59] It takes a lot of my time - it's fun time, it's really interesting and enjoyable to watch and grow. But I did find my most of my hobbies dropped away little by little. Bob Payne: [00:23:10] Yeah. Ben Scott: [00:23:13] When I did become a parent. Bob Payne: [00:23:16] I picked up new hobbies like I had never watched soccer before because I didn't like sports because those were the people that beat up the geeks. And now I'm doing like Magic the Gathering which I avoided in college like the plague. Ben Scott: [00:23:43] I never got into that. Bob Payne: [00:23:43] Because I was more of a punk than a D&D. There's a reasonable Venn diagram there. But but. Now I'm going to Friday Night Magic with my son. Ben Scott: [00:23:55] So that's a very fun but very expensive game. Bob Payne: [00:23:59] It is. Like you know a lot of people like do sports gambling. I think that's even worse. You know. Ben Scott: [00:24:06] Yes. Bob Payne: [00:24:07] Liaisons in a Russian hotel. Let it get very expensive very quickly depending on what you're doing. Ben Scott: [00:24:17] And I also do gaming video games typically do single player story type games. Bob Payne: [00:24:23] Oh really? given your military background. You've had enough First Person Shooter.. Ben Scott: [00:24:31] We'll it's more that to play online takes dedicated time whereas a single player. I can stop anytime. Pause and walk away. Bob Payne: [00:24:39] Yeah. Ben Scott: [00:24:40] I find that sometimes as a parent it's really hard to get an hour dedicated time. Bob Payne: [00:24:43] Oh yeah yeah. Ben Scott: [00:24:44] straight to play, it's like no I cannot help you to do anything because I'm in my game. If I'm doing single player I can quickly pause and do something else. That's how I mostly got into it. Ben Scott: [00:24:54] Before kids I was mostly into Dota. Bob Payne: [00:24:59] sorry? Ben Scott: [00:24:59] Dota Which is a different type of game. Bob Payne: [00:25:02] OK. Ben Scott: [00:25:03] League of Legends. Very similar as the birth of League of Legends. Was one of the first of those types of games.  Bob Payne: [00:25:11] Okay. But that's when I decided it would be hard for me to play because it requires 1 hour blocks.  Bob Payne: [00:25:19] Oh yeah. Yeah. Ben Scott: [00:25:22] Couldn't dedicate that anymore.  Bob Payne: [00:25:23] I know, yeah. So there's there's probably a game waiting for me this evening when I go home. So let's see. But. Ben Scott: [00:25:35] Let's see what else now spend time with family. Every Wednesday we have. Bob Payne: [00:25:42] Long walks on the beach and. Ben Scott: [00:25:43] Ah.. Not that, Just cook and eat and and drink and be merry. Revolves around food, and every Wednesday we have big family dinner.  Bob Payne: [00:25:55] Wednesday? Ben Scott:[00:25:55] Yeah Wednesday just because weekends are crazy. We also do on weekends. But we found that doing it in the middle of the week it kind of cuts the week and half. Bob Payne: [00:26:04] Yeah. You talk about work a little bit the stress and excuse to escape the daily grind of get up go to work. Come back do homework or other things. It's another event middle of the week that's a bit unusual but yeah it works for us. Bob Payne: [00:26:22] Yeah Wednesdays are not that exciting, it's dessert day. So. Ben Scott: [00:26:26] I like family Wednesdays. It's fun. Bob Payne: [00:26:29] Ok cool. We'll have to we'll have to do dessert/Dota/. Ben Scott: [00:26:37] Well I haven't played that game in so long i'd probably be terrible at it now. Bob Payne: [00:26:41] It's ok. You're better than I am  Ben Scott: [00:26:44] Probably. Bob Payne: [00:26:48] Thanks a lot, Ben Really appreciate it.

Psalms 51: Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. 4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight— That You may be found just when You speak,[a] And blameless when You judge. 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. 6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. 9 Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You. 14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my salvation, And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise. 16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise. 18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, With burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. By Your favor do good to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, In burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar.

Yes.   In this episode, Trevor shares the strategies and systems that make it possible to run his unique hybrid style combo of live and automated webinars as well as the valuable lessons, experiences, and observations that go along with 7 years of history.   Episode Discussions: Why webinars work so well in the business opportunity space The 3-minute pitch from a past SWW guest Joel’s used to increase conversions How webinars have evolved since 2010 - What worked then, what works now Hybrid approach: A sales mechanism for running both live and evergreen webinars Include this at the start of your evergreen webinar to build credibility and trust Why being transparent and building trust with your audience is so critical Why you should still run through your webinar with little to no audience How Trevor tested and refined his done-for-you offers using different price points Tweaks to improve your one-time offers A walkthrough of Trevor’s simple and effective lead magnets and webinar funnel Different price points and offers: What has and hasn’t worked over the last 2 years Crafting the perfect offer The power of the phone call Selling programs with vs without support groups Successfully building a support community around a program You don't need paid traffic to make webinars work! What Do I Do When I Sin after Being Saved?

Bibles for America Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 1, 2017 8:42

When we first repented to God and received Jesus Christ as our Savior, we were forgiven of all our sins. What peace flooded our hearts! And God’s Word assures us that our salvation is for all eternity and can never be undone. But although we’re saved, we know from our personal experience we’re not immune to sin. We still sin after salvation, despite our good intentions and efforts to avoid failure. What should we do when we sin after being saved? The Word of God tells us that we should confess our sins to the Lord. Confessing to God the sins that we commit after we’re saved is absolutely critical for our life as a Christian. In this podcast, we’ll cover why we need to confess our sins, what it means to confess, how to confess, and the results of confessing. First, we need to confess because sin breaks our fellowship with the Lord. Our God is a God of love, but He is also holy and righteous. God cannot tolerate sin, so the sins we commit create a barrier between Him and us and interrupt our fellowship with Him. Even in our human relationships, we can see how this can be. Let’s say you offend your friend by saying something hurtful, and you never apologize. You both feel a rift between you, but until you clear the air by apologizing, you simply can’t be at ease in each other’s presence. This is even more true in our relationship with the Lord. When we commit a sin, our conscience lets us know we’ve offended the Lord. The ease and sweetness of our relationship is broken. We’ve trespassed against Him, and that sin is now a barrier between us, disrupting our fellowship with the Lord. So the reason we need to confess our sins to the Lord is because, though our salvation is unchangeable, our sins break our fellowship with the Lord. Next, to confess means to admit or to acknowledge our sin. How do we know we’ve sinned? As 1 John 1:5 tells us, “God is light.” So when God shines on us, He exposes our sins and failures, and we become conscious of them. The resulting sense of guilt in our conscience is uncompromising and can’t be quelled by any reasoning or excuse on our side. Instead of explaining our sin away or covering it up, we should acknowledge what God says is sin and ask for His forgiveness. Psalm 32:5 gives us a good example of this. The psalmist said, “I acknowledged my sin to You, and I did not cover my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Jehovah. Then You forgave the iniquity of my sin.” So we see confessing our sins to God means acknowledging our sins and not trying to cover them up. It means to admit our sins and failures to the Lord. Our attitude and prayer is to agree with God’s judgment of our sin and say, “Yes, Lord, that is sin.” Once we realize we’ve sinned and offended the Lord, we need to confess. But how? We confess our sins in prayer to God Himself. Whether it’s a small transgression or a serious sin, when the Lord makes our sin known to us through our conscience, we must immediately admit our sin to Him in prayer and ask for His forgiveness. You don’t need go to a certain place, tell a particular person, or wait for a special time to confess your sins. Wherever you are, by praying to the Lord, and as soon as you are conscious of your sin, you can confess your sins directly to Him. Since the Lord is with you, right in your spirit, you can pray to Him at any time to confess your sins. For example, let’s say your workplace has a stock of notepads and pens. Since they’re just the kind of notepads and pens you like, you help yourself to a few for personal use at home. In the morning, as you turn your heart to the Lord to spend time with Him, He shines on you and convicts your conscience that you’ve taken something that doesn’t belong to you. At this point, you could reason with that feeling by telling yourself, “The office has plenty of these things and will never miss them.” Or, you can go along with the feeling of conviction and guilt in your conscience and agree with the Lord that what you did was wrong. When you decide to go along with the Lord, you can immediately pray to Him, “Yes, Lord, You’re right, I sinned. I confess taking these things to You. I’m sorry, forgive me, Lord. Lord, thank You for shedding Your precious blood to take away my sin.” Notice that such a simple prayer doesn’t include a promise to do better. That isn’t required for confession. What is required is acknowledging your sin to the Lord and declaring your faith in His work on the cross. Of course in this example, after you confess to the Lord, you should also return the items to your workplace and not keep them. The sin in this example might seem small, even insignificant, but in principle all sin, whether big or small, must be confessed, since any sin interrupts our fellowship with God. In 1 John 1:9, a verse written to Christians, we see the result of confessing our sins: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” If we confess, the result is that we are forgiven and cleansed. Note 2 on this verse in the New Testament Recovery Version explains what it means for God to be faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins: “God is faithful in His word (v. 10) and righteous in the blood of Jesus His Son (v. 7). His word is the word of the truth of His gospel (Eph. 1:13), which tells us that He will forgive us our sins because of Christ (Acts 10:43); and the blood of Christ has fulfilled His righteous requirements that He might forgive us our sins (Matt. 26:28). If we confess our sins, He, according to His word and based on the redemption through the blood of Jesus, forgives us because He must be faithful in His word and righteous in the blood of Jesus; otherwise, He would be unfaithful and unrighteous. Our confession is needed for His forgiveness. Such forgiveness of God, which is for the restoration of our fellowship with Him, is conditional; it depends on our confession.” By confessing our sins we receive forgiveness—a forgiveness solidly based on God’s righteousness. Furthermore, note 3 on the same verse explains what “cleanse us from all unrighteousness” means: “To forgive us is to release us from the offense of our sins, whereas to cleanse us is to wash us from the stain of our unrighteousness.” By confessing our sins, we’re forgiven, cleansed, and our fellowship with the Lord is fully restored because the obstacle of our sin is removed. Praise the Lord!

However, the MAIN reason is that the LORD wants to give you a message for direction, protection or enablement. And, sometimes―if not many times―the message will be for someone else. Some people may NOT be able to listen to―or discern―the voice of the Spirit. Or, they may NOT want to listen to the voice of the Spirit due to rebellion or living in sin. Therefore, the LORD may send you a message via His Spirit to relay to the other person. In my experience the message is usually given for specific knowledge in an area where help or advice is needed: in my life or in the lives of others. The principles of God are timeless and transfer … and if we are students of God’s Word and have the knowledge of Proverbs we are able to navigate the problems and challenges of life. But when situations arise that are not clearly and specifically defined―as in ministry strategy or spiritual warfare or dream interpretation―then we need a “specific” word from the LORD. Many people read the Holy Bible, but they are NOT listening to the Holy Spirit. God wants us to apply His Word to our lives. This is where listening to the Spirit brings success, victory and accurate direction. ________________________________________ LISTENING TO THE SPIRITDIRECTION AND HELP~ A MIRACLE PODCAST PRODUCTION ~ INTRODUCTION “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.” – Jesus: John 16:13 One of the Holy Spirit's assignments is to glorify Christ. When you receive direction, help and enablement, Christ is glorified in your victorious life and testimony thereof: by your word and your lifestyle. The Holy Spirit guides you into ALL truth; spiritual, business, family, prophetic, physical, travel and relational truth. Many people read the Holy Bible, but they are NOT listening to the Holy Spirit. God wants us to apply His Word to our lives. This is where listening to the Spirit brings success, victory and accurate direction. As you become attuned―skilled―in listening to the Spirit, you will begin to notice that sometimes shortly after you receive a message you will experience a confirmation. For example, [I recently had this happen] if you receive a message about advice you would give a person, that person may contact you not long after and ask you for advice concerning the same (not knowing that you have already heard from God concerning them or their situation). EXAMPLES Sometimes listening to the Holy Spirit will be synonymous with the gift of prophecy. For example, one time after a large seminar I was conducting in Chicago a lady came up to me and said, “I have two wombs …” I had already finished praying with people and I was really wanting to go to the place where I was to stay and go to bed. When the lady said, “I have two wombs …” my first thought was, “I must have preached past the anointing.” (I wanted to be anywhere but there.) What the lady said in full was this, “I have two wombs. If I conceive in the one womb the life will live, but if I conceive in the other (womb) the life will die. Do you have a word for me?” Instantly―without thinking about it―I said to her, “You will have a son. He will live, and his name will be Samuel.” When I was in Chicago about a year later I met little Samuel. In similar manner, listening to the Spirit may sometimes by synonymous with the Word of Knowledge. For sure―if you operate in the gifts of the Spirit like Prophecy and the Word of Knowledge―you definitely need to be listening to the Holy Spirit. Study my book, How to Receive God’s Power with Gifts of the Spirit. But there are times that God wants to give you a message for yourself and it may be just for reflection, or to meditate thereon. He may want you to think about what you would do in a certain situation that may be coming up in the future and you do NOT know about it yet―or, the complete details have not dovetailed together yet―and may not for quite some time. PURPOSE OF LISTENING You have to realize that God is for you. As in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the motive for listening to the Spirit should be to edify, improve, deliver, make whole or provide intelligence. Thank God, He did not leave us here without the tools and weapons we need to operate in power and victory … and especially as we progress into the End Times. Realize this: we are at the entrance to the End Times. If the Early Church―or Messianic Synagogue―needed the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the five fold ministries of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher as laid out in Ephesians 4:11, how much more do we need them today? And, how much more will the followers of Messiah Jesus need them as we progress further along into the End Times. PREREQUISITES TO LISTENING We need to start our day with the Word of God. We need to be students of the Word of God. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17) So the Word of God is the channel through which the activities of the Holy Spirit operate. When we have the Word of God in us―and operate based upon the Word of God―we hear (from God … from His Spirit). And when we hear from God, faith rises and MIRACLES happen. But remember also, this is all predicated upon love. “Faith works by love.” (Galatians 5:6) The Word of God is the channel though which faith flows, and love is the activator which triggers faith. HOW WILL YOU KNOW If you are living for God, then give God the benefit of the doubt. I have seen many MIRACLES since I learned to give God the benefit of the doubt. If you're NOT sure the message is from God, then check to make sure it does NOT conflict with Scripture. If it does NOT conflict with Scripture, then ask God for a confirmation that is clear and concise. NOTE: If you are “seasoned” in listening to the Holy Spirit then you probably won't require a confirmation. We should NOT be surprised that the LORD works this way in addition to His many other modes of communication. We read of Him doing this throughout Bible in both the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the Brit Chadashah (New Testament). God has NOT changed. “For I am the LORD; I do not change.” (Malachi 3:6) It's people who have not changed that corrupt His program. People who have never seen healing will tell you that God does not heal. People who have never seen miracles will tell you that MIRACLES do not happen anymore. People who do NOT believe in Apostles or Prophets operating today will tell you that those offices ceased after the Early Messianic Synagogue. However, to say that would be to prove ignorance―or, folly―as that would mean that the Scripture in Ephesian 4:11 has been rescinded: “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers.” No more pastors, teachers and evangelists either! GOD WANTS TO COMMUNICATE Also, realize that the LORD wants to communicate with people more than we do. And, He does NOT want his messages of direction and help to be cryptic or hard to understand. It amazes me how many people have never read the Holy Bible completely. Here's the greatest communication to mankind and they treat it like a magazine. My friend, get the Word inside you and YOU will begin to hear God. Start your day with it and end your day with it. I made a rule for my life years ago: “No Bible … no breakfast.” The day is coming when the world government and the world religious system will destroy Bibles … including YOURS if you're still here. Then YOU will need to listen to the Spirit … and it may be too late. The Holy Spirit will guide you into ALL truth as you listen to Him. Here are THREE resources to help you: “New Testament Bible Studies” … “Prophecy, Transition & Miracles … and “How To Receive God's Power with Gifts of the Spirit.” New Testament Bible Studies Prophecy, Transition & Miracles How To Receive God's Power with Gifts of the Spirit Baruch haba b'Shem Adonai. Psalm 51 New King James Version (NKJV) A Prayer of Repentance To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. 51 Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. Footnotes: Psalm 51:4 Septuagint, Targum, and Vulgate read in Your words.

Email me at bowiefan1970@live.com. Thanks for listening! The show notes are as follows: I received the proof copy of my new book, "Blue Whiskey", and it looks beautiful. It's a hardback printed by Lightning Source. I start off with a tip about working with your cover designer. Long story short, the tip is that you should ask your designer what stock photo source he or she prefers. Then YOU can go there and find any images you would like used for the cover. Since the designer probably hasn't read your book, they probably can't summon the same mental images that you can. I did this and it worked wonderfully. I've been on a writing hiatus after writing every night for four years. I needed a breather to recharge the batteries and relax a little bit. I'm basking in the glow of completion. I got to watch the Super Bowl at home, even though I don't have cable. I talk a little bit about cutting the cable and dealing with the cable company, who seems to think I have cable still when I don't. I want to give them the ultimate insult of all time, as the Mayor of London recently did to those who would challenge him, but I'm too nice. The Super Bowl reminded me of some people I supposedly look like, but you'll have to listen to see who. Next, I talk about hearing the same obscure musical artist three times in one day on the radio. You'll have to listen to see who that was, too. (Sorry!) Next, I talk about three movies about writers. The first is, "Where the Buffalo Roam", which starred Bill Murray and is about Hunter S. Thompson. It was a reworking of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" with new settings. Instead of the Mint 500, he was going to the Super Bowl. The whole movie was non-stop insanity, and it got kind of old after a while. I watched the "Salinger" documentary that came out in 2012. The guy was reclusive, as we all know, but he was also a borderline pedophile. He had relationships with a series of teenage girls. He also liked to eat something interesting on his popcorn. Next, I talk about another documentary, this time about Bukowski. Alcohol plays a big part in Bukowski's work and his life. He was paranoid about losing his postal job and had anxiety about that, until a man offered him an amount of money every month to be a writer. There's a new book coming out about alcoholic writers, and I give my thoughts on whether artists can create good work sober. I also talk a little about Phillip Seymour Hoffman, addiction, and recovery.
