As our appetizer, participants introduce themselves by describing a flavour that reflects their character. For our main course we share take-aways from the U.S. Jan. 20 Inauguration, starting with Vancouver poet, Sherry Duggal reading the dynamic last stanza of Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman’s awesome poem. Our savory discussion included possible directions for US politics; the implications of President Biden’s Executive Orders, particularly the closing of the XL pipeline, for Canada. We acknowledged the historical rise in women’s prominence and roles in the celebration. We concluded this course noting ways that writers, especially, can encourage international unity, and reduce fear or anxiety. Our Desert was poetry. Sherry Duggal reads her poem “I Stand with Farmers” and Lesley Hebert reads her poem “Thanks Be.” Hosted by Charlotte Sista C Ferrell. Sponsored by the 411 Seniors Centre Society, Vancouver.

What do you STAND or KNEEL for? In the world of FREEDOM both STANDING and KNEELING have direct reference to the DEVOTION you have in your beliefs and what can be accomplished or what you are willing to give yourself over to. Let's take a look. Our DEVOTION to the STAND we take, and the STANDING up we are willing to do has made all the difference in the formation and longevity of our great nation. STANDING for FREEDOM has never been easy. Yet TRUE WARRIORS have stood in the past and will STAND in the future for TRUTH! This week I STAND for all my brothers and sisters in support of the integrity of our electoral process. This STAND is not about an election outcome, this is about STANDING for our FREEDOMS and never KNEELING in acceptance, or giving my rights over to anything less. Ever. This day I promise to STAND up and STAND in the battle for FREEDOM in what I say, the things I do and the people I STAND with. I choose to kneel in DEVOTION to my God, beliefs, and family, and support any government that honors this choice! EP3: Renegotiating the Relationship between Politics and Spirituality with Sarah Love McCoy and Lindsay Pera

“I’ve got my eye on the future. The future that keeps me going forward is one that is built in a more loving way. A more compassionate world is the one that I keep in my mind’s eye as my guidepost and my true north.” – Sarah Love Politics and spirituality have a long-standing dysfunctional relationship. In this conversation with artist and writer Sarah Love and Lindsay Pera, founder of the Modern Mystic Institute, we begin to dig for the roots of this dysfunction.  We already know the damage: On the right, spirituality has been manipulated and melded with politics and patriotism to oppress people and rigidly control the narrative about values in our country. The consequences are disempowering. On one hand, we’ve got the “love and light” spiritual practitioners who resist analysis and truth-telling about political and social realities. On the other hand, we have political activists who have rejected spirituality because it’s been used to bypass the harsh realities of white supremacy, cis-hetero patriarchy, and capitalism. It’s time to rewrite the narrative and to push back on constructs that narrowly define what it means to love and what it means to be a peacemaker. What if we refuse to be divided by the pundits and politicians who insist that protest, patriotism and action have to look just so? That our protestations must be polite and palatable? What if we get super clear amidst the gaslighting about what loving our country looks like? If we are going to change the trajectory of our country, we’ve got to move forward as whole people, not as people who are compartmentalized, divided and constricted. It’s time to unapologetically reclaim, redefine and sharpen our tools. We can unapologetically infuse love and spirituality with politics and politics with spirituality. The Way Station, with Lindsay, Sarah and I as your guides, will take you deeper into this re-tooling and revision of our narrative.  The Way Station is a place for those working to dismantle systems of oppression can gather, refuel, get tools and get grounded in strategy. Participants will be bringing our political expertise as well as our embodied wisdom and intuitive tools. We will explore the ways in which we can stay active, involved, creative and aligned in this moment of flux and crisis. Expect rigor and magic, love and analysis. No matter the outcome on November 3rd, our work is not over.  We are in it for the long haul of liberation. Please join us. Sarah, Lindsay and I talked about: The ways in which we’ve been socialized to avoid discussing politics and systems of oppression; Why politically progressive people shy away from spirituality; How spirituality and politics, when used together, have historically been weaponized to oppress people; The importance of questioning, pushing back, redefining and expanding our understanding of engaging politically with the tools of faith, peacemaking and love; Our “pivot points”: those moments in our lives where we saw more clearly our role as activists and how we could wield spirituality as a powerful force for change; Our upcoming retreat, Way Station, on October 30th, which is an opportunity to come together to refuel, get tools, and ground strategies for the work ahead; Linday’s and Sarah’s divination on the energies of 2021. About Sarah and Lindsay: Sarah Love McCoy is an artist, writer and teacher working on expanding and awakening the power of love in herself and human hearts the world over. Creator of the “I Stand for Love” Calendar (in its 17th year in print!), Sarah’s best known for her daily nuggets of inspiration. The belief that healing our inner wounds, learning to trust our hearts, moving energy through our hands (while getting out of our heads) and coming together in a community as a path towards a more loving tomorrow is the philosophy behind Sarah’s mission and purpose. Lindsay Pera is the CEO of the Modern Mystics Institute and founder of the Mystics Society. As a Mystic mama, tech entrepreneur and intuitive strategist, she’s a sought after contributor and motivator on the topics of health, wealth and transformation. When she is not extolling the virtues of “Sacred Commerce” or “Resonance” based business, you can find her knocking almonds and generally getting her gratitude on. Lindsay's new paradigm business community, The Mystic’s Society, is a safe haven for entrepreneurs weaving magic into their *work* in the world. It is her passion to direct resources into the hands of entrepreneurs, creatives, and world changers. --- Thank you so much for joining us! Mary and I had a wonderful and joyful time interviewing our friend Bruce Cochran. As always and like before we had a wonderful time hearing his stories about all the hymns themselves and what it meant to him and the chorale, which sang the songs. Bruce Cochran is both a Chorale Director and Engineer (and is also a Ph.D in his occupation). However God definitely anointed and blessed with Bruce with an amazing talent (gift) and passion for music. It shows in directing his Chorale group. The Chorale at its highest membership (during Winter months) is around 90 people. A lot of people to direct, all 90 people with one voice to give Glory to God. Bruce tells us about his life, history and also stories both personal and about the hymn's. The stories and music are enchanting, beautiful and breathtaking. This was an amazing almost a full hour with 6 songs playing in between each story. I truly hope it blesses everyone with an hour of gorgeous music and the stories behind them from Bruce. I want to thank Bruce for being a wonderful and fun guest, from knowledge to his interpretations of these touching hymns. They have a new CD out called “Amazing Love”. His work can be found on iTunes, Spotify and other streaming services. We are pleased to have the "East Valley Chorale" in our radio rotation, for your listening pleasure. Used to be, we'd talk pretty endlessly about our sexual activity on this podcast, to the point where our MOST NEGATIVE REVIEW EVER called us out for it. But that's ages ago, and it's been quite a while, and we're feeling a little indulgent and want to have some sexy conversation. You may as well just slap the #explanabrag hashtag right on here, cuz that's what Dylan Thomas, Cooper S. Beckett, Dr. Liz Powell, Mike Joseph, and Dirty Lola are doing tonight! We each tell some of our most recent sexy stories... stories including rimming, threesomes, pegging, anal, rimming, blowjobs, piss play, Donald Trump masks, deep throating, gagging, anal, bathhouses, play parties, orgies, strap-on sex... oh yes... yes. As you listen, don't forget to tweet at #sspodcast! Wild Soul Medicine Radio w/ Jody England

I am a trembling, quaking mess of "what the f@$&?!" right now. I sat down a couple of hours ago to write a very simple e-mail to invite you to the Wild Soul Medicine Radio show today where I planned to talk about the energetics of Inviting women to join us for Woman, Come Undone. I’m still going to talk about that in some form or other, but… As I tuned in to look at the places that weren’t feeling in alignment with my concept of inviting and asking you all to participate in it, I followed one precarious stepping stone to another until I found myself neck deep in a disconcerting Soul contract of biblical proportions. Christ consciousness, communion, age old lives of manipulation and power, Kali fire, medicine of dying to live and living to die. Holy Wholly. I am still Deeply In it. And… I have to Invite you to something. And… I don’t have any answers in this moment. And… I’d rather run the other way or go back up a floor and talk about something easier that I actually KNOW about. And… I KNOW that THIS is what happens when you stand in the center of an event like Woman, Come Undone. There is absolutely no way to do so without being dismantled in the most unexpected and sometimes unceremonious ways. I both love it and hate it.And... I refuse to participate in my own enslavement, So I’m Coming Undone.Join me in my nakedness, my question marks, and my “no way am I talking about this” ego to see what ends up coming forth out of today’s show.I am a small but essential part of something so much larger than myself and I am riding the tail of the comet as the mystery informs me moment by moment. We are all but Part and Parcel of the Vastness of Becoming. I Stand with you here on the edge of the Abyss. Enlivened by the disintegration and longing for Liberation. Come and Be With Me
