For The Love Of Money

Time for a little wake-up call, friends!  There can be many reasons why you’re not yet where you want to be, but today I am going to go over four of them.   When Lori and I were doing only around 250K a year we got sick and tired and decided to just “GO FOR IT”…and went from 250,000 to over 1 million in one year. Your Goals Are WEAK. You’re shooting too low…thinking that you’ll just take slow, incremental steps to wealth instead of really exploding!  Why not think bigger and set bigger goals? You’re not setting the bar high enough. And then when you do, just work backwards, and think out of the box.  So what kind of crazy, amazing goal are you going to set this year? Your Tribe ISN’T Helping You. While your tribe might be amazing, great people, but if they haven’t been to where YOU’RE SHOOTING FOR, then they have nothing to teach you.  It’s time to find a new tribe of people who you surround yourself with. You don’t have to tell your current one to “peace out” but you need to reach out to additional, different people who will up-level your tribe. You’re Too Damn Conservative. You’re probably placing too much value on your current “stability” and if you place too much focus on that, you will not be able to take the proper “risks” that you need to take in order to go to the next level. Make a radical change to get a radical new outcome! Take some risks when it’s smart. You’re Mentally Weak. I say this with the most love possible, honestly. You’re scared and afraid of what people might say if you fail or make changes. You’re afraid you might look silly. You’re not willing to push through the uncomfortable part and endure a short-term struggle in order to reach that long-term success! You’re not willing to turn off the tv and pick up a book to learn what you need to learn. Your mental discipline needs a good workout!   “These four reasons are why you DESIRE to lead a better life, but you are not yet leading an EXTRAORDINARY life.”   You see, these four reasons have been holding you back. And again, I say talk about these with some serious love for you. They’re the reasons that you DESIRE to lead a better life but you’re not yet living an EXTRAORDINARY life. If you can get these four areas cleaned up and corrected, just imagine what your life could look like in a matter of months! In This Episode We Talk about: Why your tribe could be holding you back Four reasons you’re not yet rich and how to make some changes in order to fix them How you’re probably setting crappy goals and don’t even know it   Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind as well as VIP Days and one-on-one coaching. I met so many amazing people and got to speak to and coach a different demographic than I’m used to. And while having lunch and random conversations with so many of these people throughout the week, I realized that we’re all the same, and we’re all tested at one time or another.  Never be ashamed of your dreams or the thing you want to do the most. There will always be tests along the way that test your faith. And while they’re often super uncomfortable, they are 100% necessary to help you realize your dreams. Instead of giving up, say “bring it!” This is your faith practice. It’s digging in your heels, being scared, and not feeling good – and moving forward anyway. After all how can you be tested if you’re not experiencing it? “It’s OK to be afraid, but it’s not OK to give up."  So lean in. Experience it. Let time help you work through it. Your faith is tested by often extreme measures. Learn how to support yourself through it. Who can you call? Can you pray, meditate or read a book? What keeps that faith alive? Just as you would study or prepare for a test, you must prepare (not avoid) the tests that come up around your dream. “Don’t resist the test, prepare for it – it’s how you pass.” These tests will strengthen you and help refine what you’re meant to do. Stop avoiding them. “You don’t get better or get the reward unless you keep showing up – no matter the result.” So keep showing up. Let go where you can and know that you’re not alone. Go to fortheloveofmoney.com/mastermind or drop Chris a line at chris@fortheloveofmoney.com!   Show Notes Today’s episode is all about setting boundaries – more importantly wealthy boundaries. First of all, setting boundaries in all areas of your is a very valuable thing, because when you set these strong, non-negotiable boundaries it naturally helps you achieve a stronger financial situation. So how and where do you set these boundaries? First and foremost, you must remember that: “Boundaries are set and kept, not by what you say, but by what you do.” You can’t expect people to respect your boundaries if you don’t respect them yourself.  “It’s only a boundary if you reinforce it.” When you’re able to follow through and actually uphold your boundaries, others respect it as well. When you only talk about it without following through, it’s just a wish, am I right?   The following are a few “Wealthy Boundaries” that are a good starting point:     Paying yourself first. Make a commitment to put away a certain amount of money weekly or monthly to build up your savings. My tip? Set up an auto deposit so it’s done without you having to even think about it.     Spending habits. What are you splurging on? How often? For me, I love watches and if I wanted to I could buy one whenever I wanted, but I’ve set this boundary. “I can never buy a watch unless it has a great story or accomplishment attached to it.”     Who you take advice or coaching from. You wouldn’t take financial advice from a broke financial advisor, would you? No. Make sure the person who’s doling out the advice is a proven expert and can actually help you.     Lending money to friends and family. This is so important, especially as you continue to create more and more wealth. It’s not saying you can’t loan money to friends and family, but be sure to create clearly defined boundaries.     Business budgets. These boundaries are often forgotten, but so important. Set budgets and stick to them, regardless if they’re monthly, quarterly, annually or by percentage.     Start and end of the work day. Make sure your start and end of your work day works for you and keeps you operating from a full cup. My day doesn’t officially start until 11 a.m., and while I have no “end” time, my day always ends with a non-negotiable family walk.     Giving. It is so important to give, but make sure you’re not giving too much or too little. It’s better to continuously give 10% of $100,000 than it is to give everything that’s left over. Remember, being left with nothing promotes scarcity, which only pushes abundance away from you.   I hope these wealthy boundaries have helped give you an idea of where you’d like more boundaries in your life! Regardless if you use the above or create new ones for yourself, always remember that boundaries only work when practiced and reinforced regularly. Good luck!   Follow me on social media @ChrisWHarder on Instagram and check out www.ForTheLoveOfMoney.com

Go to fortheloveofmoney.com/mastermind or drop Chris a line at chris@fortheloveofmoney.com!   Show Notes Today I’m calling us all out – myself included. It’s time for us all to do better. In an effort to explain why I’m making such a profound statement, I’m going to tell you about a conversation I overheard the other day on a walk. There was a woman talking on her phone and I heard her tell the other person, “I can only afford to give you $20…I know it’s not enough, but I hope it at least helps a little.” First off, I want to commend two people for doing the right thing. One person is asking for help and another is offering help. But here’s the thing, it’s not good enough. How sad is it that one person only has an extra $20 to give a friend in need when she could be making more money. “We simply have to do better.” Now believe me, I’m not judging either one of these people because I’ve been the asker and the giver. We’ve all fallen on hard times. Of course, we can chalk it up to “life happened to me” when something goes awry, but I can honestly say in my moments, “I happened to me.” Do I believe bad things should happen to people – definitely not, but if this message stirs up something inside you, please hear it has a wake-up call. We have to do better. The woman I overheard is a good person but she wasn’t making good money. She was missing the tool of money, and while it may seem like a no-brainer, we need more money to help more people. How amazing would it have been if she could have given her friend $2,000 without batting an eye? Amazing, right? What if we ALL could do that? Personally, I know I can do better too. I would love to give away millions and millions of dollars like some of my friends currently do but I’m not there yet. But just imagine it, if we all made enough money to solve every problem out there what this world would be. I hope this episode inspires you do keep striving to make a different and do better.   Follow me on social media @ChrisWHarder on Instagram and check out www.ForTheLoveOfMoney.com

Not only is his story remarkable, but just the way he delivered his inspirational message on stage sent goosebumps straight up my arms. Born with Hanhart Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that left him without legs, an underdeveloped right arm and a left arm with only one finger, Nick’s parents were told early on all the things he would likely never be able to do. His parents threw that list away and Nick has been shattering those glass ceilings ever since. As a fitness model, inspirational speaker and now author of the book, Victim to Victor, Nick is instilling his can-do-anything attitude and energy with the world. This was such an awesome conversation and I can’t wait for you to hear the wisdom that comes out of this 22-year-old’s mouth. Check out how you can get a free copy of Nick’s book in Resources!   Question Highlights: What is one of your superpowers? What is one of your favorite books? What is one thing you’re challenged by right now? Who is someone who’s changed your life? What can you tell us about Hanhart Syndrome? Do you remember the age you realized that you were born differently? What was it like growing up “different?” When was the first time that you shifted from having down-and-out feelings to being the inspiration you are today? What role did your parents play in who you are today? What is your one biggest piece of advice for parents today? What would “doing enough” look like? What do you believe the purpose of earning a significant amount of money and being successful is? What is the message of your book, Victim to Victor, and what makes it so special?   Quotes "What are you willing to do to pivot?” “You need to focus 110% effort on whatever you’re doing or you’re going to sell yourself short.” “If you believe in yourself to do great things, why would you sell yourself short?” “It’s not selfish to level up.”   Nick Santonastasso is a medical miracle. Not only is he one of four people alive with the rare genetic condition, Hanhart Syndrome, the inspirational keynote speaker is an internationally known bodybuilder and fitness model – despite missing both his legs and one arm since birth. The high-energy youth shares his amazing story, showing people that anyone can thrive if they have the determination and willpower to go after what they want. When Nick was born, the doctors handed his parents a long list of things that he would never be able to do. Nick’s parents politely thanked them and threw the list out. They raised Nick the same way they had raised his three able-bodied older siblings and instilled in him never to let the world tell him what he could or couldn’t do.   Follow me on social media @ChrisWHarder on Instagram and check out www.ForTheLoveOfMoney.com

But here’s my trick to getting through them all – I’m letting go of any expectations I have around the outcomes. “In order for me to work through fear, I have to fully accept anything and everything can happen.” There is no ONE thing that is going to make or break my life. And as I navigate each any every new thing, I gain more and more clarity around being truly me. Full honesty, I feel the most alive and “myself” that I’ve ever felt. You see, there is zero room for being something that you’re not, because eventually you’re going to get caught being yourself. For me, that’s showing the side of me that loves to perform spoken word, sing (future podcast performance?), and swear. Parents, this may mean putting “earmuffs” on the kiddos now and again. Keep in mind, I’m not trying to purposely offend anyone – it’s just how I express myself on occasion. For example, in this episode I’m sharing a 30-second excerpt of a new spoken word piece I’m working on…I drop the F-bomb once, but it’s because that was the word that moved me in the moment. It’s about being yourself with a bit of discernment for your audience, right?  So here’s to stepping into a new version of yourself! Who’s with me and how soon do you want to do it? Go to fortheloveofmoney.com/mastermind or drop Chris a line at chris@fortheloveofmoney.com!   Show Notes Today I’m going to let you in on a secret hack that I believe accounts for all facets of my success – in all areas of my life. “Seek the good in everything.” OK, I get it. This sounds really basic and is not a unique concept, but it’s a game-changer. Here’s a short story. A friend recently shared an article about a person who has given $10,000 to different people a handful of times. This particular instance showcased a waitress being left a $10,000 tip. Later the video they captured of the act was shared on YouTube to promote their brand. My friend told me, “what a shame that they’re using this for self-promotion.” Now, if you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I likely wouldn’t call this part out about the situation. What I would call out is the fact that these people gave someone who likely needed it, $10,000 because I tend to see the positive of the situation. My friend and I went back and forth on this, but what’s your take on it? Do you see the good in the situation or are you quick to find the potential negative?  “You have to intentionally seek the good in every situation in order to get good results.”  When something bad happens to you, do you go into victim mode (“Poor me, why does this always happen to me?”) or do you find the growth and education that can come from such moments? Now, everyone is free to think whatever thoughts they want, but I can tell you from personal experience that seeking the good will net more success in your life.  So let’s say you’re the person who does tend to see the more negative side of things. I challenge you, for 30 days, to try looking for the good. It is possible to re-train your brain to think positively. Here are a few tips to help: Decide you’re willing to try this concept to start seeing the positive. Come up with a mantra. Something along the lines of, “I seek the good in everything I come across.” Catch yourself when you gravitate toward a negative though and quickly reframe it! This is crucial in training your brain to see the positive.   I think you’ll find that once you’re able to see more of the positive, more success and opportunities in all areas of your life will follow.  “People want to lock arms with people who see the possibilities of the world – not the hurdles.”  If you accept the challenge, please be sure to let me know over on Instagram! I can’t wait to be blown away with all the positivity!   Follow me on social media @ChrisWHarder on Instagram and check out www.ForTheLoveOfMoney.com

I’ll be honest with you, some nights it would be easier to shut down at 5, crack open a beer and Netflix and chill with Lori – and put my worries away until the next day. But deep down I know that I won’t be satisfied with that when I know I’ve got big things to do and lives to change. Building a great business is truly an act of love.   We don’t want to waste the gifts we’ve been given. This doesn’t mean that everyone should be an entrepreneur – trust me when I say that we need people with other gifts that usually support people like me. But being an entrepreneur takes sacrifice, and here’s four reasons why it’s also an act of love.   You’re building solutions people need. You’re improving peoples’ lives with your solutions. If you don’t provide these solutions that people need to protect your ego, time and energy, it’s actually an act of selfishness.   You’re creating jobs. All the supporters of your business? You’re creating jobs for them, showcasing their talents and giving other gifts along the way.   You’re creating wealth the world needs. You’re not just creating wealth for yourself, you’re creating wealth for others. Think of the trickle effect it has when you buy a house. Banks, title companies, builders, insurance etc. – the list goes on and on.   You’re inspiring others to do the same. When you build your business and share in your area of expertise, you’re showing others the way by example.   “You create an entrepreneur by being an entrepreneur.”   So you see, building a great business is an act of love – for yourself and others. I am so thrilled today to have Tom Bilyeu on the show! I recently had the amazing opportunity and experience of being interviewed on his podcast, Impact Theory and I couldn’t wait to continue the conversation and learn even more about the similarities in our lives and business – and this time, pick his brain.   Similar to my journey, Tom grew up in a family who struggled with their weight, and broke the pattern by choosing to pave a healthier way for himself and as result change the trajectory of his life at the same time. That’s why today he’s so passionate about helping others who struggle with their weight. However, Tom is the first to acknowledge that it’s not always an easy path. In fact, when it comes to success in weight loss or a business or career, nothing is guaranteed – except the pain or struggle. And to get through any of that, you must take action and also accept that you may not be right about x-y-z right now. We have to be willing to make changes if we want to see change.   Tune in to learn just what Tom does that helps him do just that. He shares so many tangible takeaways for all of us to start looking at what we’re doing right now and more into our next level of life. Please let me know what thoughts or actions you put into place because of them!   --   Question Highlights: Can you tell us a little about your background and what got you started in studying film? What’s the difference between finding knowledge and finding what motivates you? What is it in your mind that makes you contemplate what is good and change your path? What do you do and what do you look for in order to make sure you’re putting yourself in those spaces? What does creativity mean to you and what would your life look like without it? Where does the creation of a comic book fit into things right now? What’s your grand vision for what you’re doing right now? Do you know what that one story is? How are you seeking out the people needed for your next level?   In This Episode We Talk about: Tom’s family history of obesity Why Tom’s deeply passionate about helping people who struggle with weight Why the brain is malleable until we die Embracing inadequacies 80/20 motivation principle The difference between drive and ambition How Quest Nutrition was founded on passion Why Tom wasn’t a born entrepreneur The concept of renewal in nature and in life Cultivating a frame of reference Tom’s eagerness to reinvent himself Finding fulfillment Accepting that you’re wrong about things now Why being the smartest person in the room is a trap Being “anti-fragile” Harnessing adaptability Building relationships and making authentic connections And so much more…   Quotes   “I’m going to believe the things that empower me.”   “The gap between where you are and what you want to accomplish is a gap of skillset. It is you not being good enough.”   “If you want to get to extraordinary, you’re going to have to realize that we’re rewarded and punished.”   “Drive is the willingness to act on a day-to-day basis in a way that moves you toward your goals. Ambition is having the goals.”   “To develop my drive, I had to suffer.”   “Things that are hard are gonna be the things that develop who you are.”   “What would we do and love every day even if we were failing?”   “The struggle is guaranteed – the success is not.”   “The skillset you already have has already taken you as far as its going to unless you do something that introduces you to a new idea that you turn into a usable skill.”     -- Tom Bilyeu is the co-founder of 2014 Inc. 500 company Quest Nutrition — a unicorn startup valued at over $1 billion — and the co-founder and host of Impact Theory. Tom’s mission is to break people out of the Matrix by sharing transformative content and fostering one-to-one communication within the Impact Theory community. Tom believes that human potential is nearly limitless, but the dual pandemics of mental and physical malnutrition are hindering a realization of this potential. Through in-depth interviews with the world’s top achievers, including Gary Vaynerchuk, Maria Sharapova, and Mel Robbins, Tom explores mindset-shifting tactics, questions accepted belief systems, and uncovers distinctive strategies for success.   Tom regularly inspires audiences of entrepreneurs, change makers, and thought leaders at prestigious conferences and seminars around the world, including Success Live, Hustle Con, Thrive, Abundance 360, Mindvalley’s A-fest, and Freedom Fast Lane. Today’s guest and former NFL star, Steve Weatherford, and I have been trying to connect and get him on the show for a year now. But we both came to the same consensus that this specific timing was meant to be. With so many revelations happening recently for this former American football player, Steve feels called now more than ever to uncover all of them and share them with others in podcasts like this (and on his own new podcast show – link in Resources).   Today, Steve and I do a deep-dive into all aspects of his life, past and present, focusing not just on what he’s done or doing now, but most importantly about what he’s passionate about and what lights him up. Steve gives permission to all men out there who feel they need to portray an “alpha” man to share their vulnerability instead. We don’t have to focus on our inadequacies – we get to focus on the wins, too.   This is such a life-changing (possibly life-saving for some) episode for so many reasons and I’m so excited for you all to listen in. Be sure to let both Steve and I know what your takeaways are!   --      Question Highlights: What do you really want to be known for? Do you feel like there’s a value in sharing your journey as you’re becoming this entrepreneur and kind of leaving it the past you’re know for behind? Why now? What made you go down the toughest path I’m guessing you’ve gone down yet? How did you make the shift? Can you participate in philanthropy now from a place of the right intention – and for you? Is it better to give in the dark, give out loud or something in between?   In This Episode We Talk about: Being authentic Where Steve’s at in the middle of his transcending journey The importance of sharing vulnerability Performance anxiety in the NFL Why men don’t have to suffer alone Why you don’t have to cover up anxiety or pain achievements Why the “doing” isn’t enough The two different ways to take action Why Steve wants to inspire people Steve’s new podcast, The Steve Weatherford Show Celebrating the moments when you show up as yourself The power of imperfection What Steve did to capture his father’s attention Why Steve doesn’t look for praise anymore Steve’s take on giving And so much more… --   Steve’s Thoughts…   “I don’t want my life to be about things that I’ve done, I want it to be about the things that I am.”   “I am more than what I do.”   “If how you feel about you is predicated of others’ opinions of you, you’re not powerful – you’re powerless.”   “I’m leading a crusade for alpha men to show vulnerability in order to gain strength and mastery of themselves.”   “My greatest achievement is being myself.”   “If I serve people, I need to know what the pulse of my community is.”   “You can never fail at being yourself.”   -- Steve Weatherford is a former American football punter for the New York Giants. He also played for the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets. Steve is a dedicated husband, doting father, an all-around family man, avid health and fitness role model, a nationally recognized philanthropist, and a Super Bowl winning Punter. One of the most popular questions I get is how Lori and I as a couple make financial decisions. It’s not surprising when you see everywhere just how stressful finances can be. So today, I’m sharing a few game-changing ground rules that will help you feel better about your and your partner’s relationship with money.   Set your ego aside. Regardless if you’re the sole bread winner or you both work, no ONE person is at fault. You should both have a strong interest in your financial goals. (If you don’t, this is your wake-up call to start!) This is a team effort and no one is meant carry the burden alone. Ensure there are no secrets, share your fears and keep those old financial stories out of it.               “Living in the now is the only way to have certainty of your financial future.”   Learn your partner’s communication style. This is imperative. Keep in mind that your partner will not hear you if your message is being given in a way they cannot receive. Trust me. When Lori and I first began working together, this took us 6 months to figure out.   Have a budget and set goals. Make it fun and dream together. If you’ve never had a budget, I recommend checking out Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.               “Your budget is your financial roadmap to your goals.”   Schedule regular celebrations. Yes! Make “money dates” something to look forward to. Once a month shoot to go out and celebrate in your favorite way and take this time to acknowledge what went well, what mistakes were made and what you need to work on. Truly aim to air out any issues at this time unless it is more urgent.               “What doesn’t get celebrated won’t be repeated.”   In closing and in order for these steps to work, you must practice integrity when it comes to achieving your goals. Make sure you’re adhering to the above and your feelings around finances – especially as a couple – will lead to more harmony and abundance in all aspects of life.     In This Episode We Talk about:   Four tips that will change the financial game for you as a couple Why no one is at fault Learning different communication styles Why you need to schedule in regular celebrations   Resources:   Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. You know how every now and then you get lucky and have a conversation with someone who just “gets” you, your journey and how your brain works? Well, today’s guest, Robyn Youkilis checked that box. Growing up in a family that used food as a source of love, comfort and connection, I could completely relate. Don’t get me wrong this is a great thing, however the breaking point for Robyn (and myself) is when we started gaining weight and that warm, fuzzy connection went away and instead turned into a difficult connection.   Once she made this realization, Robyn set out to create a new conversation around food and weight. She didn’t want to view things as “good” or “bad,” rather she wanted to slow things down and figure out what foods would best support her body.   After much trial and error (that still happens on a daily basis), she now teaches others that it’s OK if you don’t have it all figured out – it may even take decades. It’s all about finding a formula that works for your body and adheres to what your intuition is telling you and keeps you in alignment. She also touches on how motherhood impacted her relationship with food and how it led to an impactful shift in her life then and now.   I had such a great time connecting with Robyn during this conversation. If you’re someone who struggles with your relationship with food, this episode is a must listen (and her book, Thin from Within, a must read).   --   Question Highlights: What is your life philosophy and how did you get to this place? What did the process of slowing down look for you? How has food become a foundation for everything you’re doing? What’s something in your life right now that you’re so excited about that you weren’t able to do before because food/body was taking up so much space in your brain? What is lighting you up the most right now? What is a question you wish more people would ask you? Do you have a secret dream that you envision for your future?   In This Episode We Talk about: Robyn’s relationship with food and how it changed at age 13 The emotional and physical weight of not living in alignment Food as an experience Robyn’s initial resistance with motherhood and how it was a major foundational shift for her How Robyn has learned to slow down, connect with her body and intuition and gut, teach from that place and “calm the eff down” How to connect with your body Setting intention behind activities to achieve alignment Finding your intuitive food voice Robyn’s power yogurt parfait and Rule of Five Plate The connection between your food/body and success in other areas of your life Rockstar Coaching Program Robyn’s new book, “Thin from Within” Why Robyn wants people to how she “does it all” And so much more…   Quotes   “You feel good when you're connected to other people.”   “My body is my home.”   “Let your own story and journey be what you want it to be and know that it’s OK.”   “Go with your gut.”   -- Robyn Youkilis is an AADP Certified Health Coach, author, speaker, and leading expert in holistic digestive health. For nearly a decade, Robyn has helped clients shed both physical and emotional weight with her straightforward yet supportive coaching style, Your Healthiest You. Today’s conversation with the one and only Natalie Jill of Natalie Jill Fitness is long overdue, but I feel like we’re connecting at the perfect time all the same. Having been friends with Natalie Jill for quite some time now, her initial rock-bottom comeback story is amazing, but after experiencing another setback recently, her story is both inspiring and eye-opening.   Natalie Jill’s journey began 15 years ago when she found herself at rock bottom – she was a divorced single mom who lost her house, her retirement and gained a lot of weight. She created a vision board to inspire her to make changes, but took it one step further by posting the process on social media for accountability. Not only did she find accountability, she also found a following that quickly led to a $3 million-plus business.   Seemingly having it all figured out, it was a shock when Natalie Jill realized that her “following” wasn’t hers and she saw a dramatic downslide to her business. With changing algorithms and a saturated market, she desperately attempted to turn it around by throwing money out to find a solution. Hundreds of thousands of dollars later, Natalie Jill went back to her initial strategy and that was to make authentic connections again – and it’s working like a charm.   Natalie Jill gets super honest and vulnerable throughout this episode and reveals what it truly means to be an entrepreneur – the highs and the rock-bottom lows. No stranger to those lows, it definitely made me reflect on how I can better connect with people both in my programs and following. What strides could you make if you connected on a more authentic level? --      Question Highlights: What’s your favorite quote? What is your superpower? Who is someone who’s changed your life? What is one of your biggest accomplishments? [When you hit rock bottom], were you more scared that people were going to find out just how bad everything was or were you more scared that your life was changing and transitioning with so many changes so quickly? What was the first steps/thoughts in reconciling where you were at and stepping forward? How did you start to build momentum? How much money have you invested in “coaches” that weren’t the right fit? What would you have done differently? You’ve gone from broke to a $3 million business and back to broke – how has your happiness varied with different levels of income/net worth – or has it? How did your friends change or show up as you went through declines? What’s the most important lesson you’re drawing from your 15-year roller coaster journey? What are you building now? Where do you think the next safest place to build a following should be?   In This Episode We Talk about: Natalie’s rock bottom moments The first steps Natalie Jill took to move forward after her rock bottom How accountability and sharing her journey led to her initial success Making authentic connections What went wrong with Natalie Jill’s success Social media and how it impacted her success Getting back to being authentic Failures and self-doubt Natalie Jill’s new podcast (Leveling Up: Creating Everything from Nothing) Why Natalie Jill is shifting her focus to smaller group interactions Natalie Jill’s new book, “Aging in Reverse” (releases May 2019) And so much more… --   Natalie Jill’s Thoughts…   “Excuses or solutions – you decide.”   “Those little steps, over time, add up to big things.”   “The only difference between where we are now and where we want to be is our thoughts and actions.”   “It was never about my own specific vision, it was specifically about what are they asking for next and let me create that for them.”   “It took crashing and burning for me to finally realize what I learned 10 years ago at my rock bottom. It’s about being vulnerable, being real and connecting with people and it’s not about what somebody else is going to do for me.”   “My happiness does not relate to money – it relates to connection.”   “It’s not a following thing, it’s a connecting thing.”   -- Once upon a time, Natalie Jill lost her house, her retirement, her marriage ended and she gained a lot of weight. She was at ROCK BOTTOM. At the time she was in her late thirties and felt doomed. She had all kinds of nagging “False Aggravating Truths” that she believed about herself. She felt too old, too broke, too overweight and too depressed to do anything. She had so many Self Imposed Stops that were in her way. Something had to shift. Her beliefs weren’t working for her. She started by changing her STATE and decided she was NOT those self-imposed stops and created a vision for MORE. In a nutshell, she turned it all around, got her life back and became an inspiration to others. Now, she kills FAT for a living. There’s a misconception out there that only the people who are down and out struggle with their money mindset. I couldn’t disagree with that more – very successful people also feel the same fear. (By the way, I love getting messages and questions from you so feel free to send them my way @chriswharder).   This 24-year-old woman shared how while she was presently super successful, she was terrified of being successful and having it ripped away. See, when she was younger (age 14) her father lost his job and to make ends meet she ended up having to work 5-7 jobs to keep the household afloat. Can anyone relate to this? I know I can. Following are the five tips I shared with this woman to help her work through and manage her fear:   It’s better to have something to begin with then to never get it in the first place. It’s good to have a healthy fear so you keep working hard. Don’t see it as fear, see it as urgency. Be present. Live in the now. You’re doing great – enjoy it! Some may find it hard to believe but everyone, and I mean everyone, has a ceiling. Yes, even Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey or any other wildly successful person has one. And here’s why:   “Everybody has a ceiling or they’d be higher than they are now.”   For example, let’s say a person is making $100K a year. Why aren’t they making $200K? Because they have a ceiling. You can change the numbers, but you’ll still get the same answer. But here’s the good news. Every ceiling can be lifted. If you need a visual, think about those cheap drop-down tile ceilings that people used to put in their finished basements. When installed, yes, there’s a ceiling there, but it can easily be busted through to expose more space above it. And you can do the same with your “ceiling.”   Here are five steps to help you do just that.   Acknowledge that you have a ceiling and you’ve hit it. Now look for patterns and see how you can change it. Choose to bust through the ceiling. This is your moment to burn the boats! “Make sure it’s a real choice to bust through your ceiling – not just a desire.” Choose new beliefs. Choose to believe what is possible. Look for evidence and beliefs to support why you’re worthy. Choose new rituals. Reinforce your beliefs with new rituals. Read more, take new courses, set better boundaries, meditate more (or start), schedule forced creative time – the options are endless. Just know that your new beliefs won’t stay if you don’t reinforce them. Uplevel your tribe. Your current tribe may be holding you back. This can be difficult, but know that you’re never leaving anyone behind because they always have the choice to come along. Choose people who have been where you want to go. “Most people are in a habit of choosing people that make them feel good, not people that make them do better.”   All of the above steps build on top of one another and you can’t support one without the other. Because we know how important it is to have guidance when it comes to navigating this, we’ve created our life course, Aligned, that helps you choose new beliefs and rituals – and also connects you to a new tribe. For The Love Of Money

I’ve been wanting to talk about today’s topic for a while and am excited to dive in to whether or not the statement “Money is power,” is true. And if it is true, who should have the power? The good guys or the bad guys?   First off, I do believe that money is power because we all get an opportunity to “vote” with our dollars. The more money you have, the more say you have. People with more money are often looked up to more as a guiding example and they tend to have more of a responsibility with that power as well. They’re leaders and they don’t hoard their power, they share it. The only catch? We want power in the hands of good people who are going to do the above.   This same principle is shared in the book, “The Traveler’s Gift” by Andy Andrews. Here are a couple of his quotes that sum it up nicely and also mirror a good portion of the For the Love of Money philosophy, too   “To do great deeds, great power is essential.” – Andy Andrews   “If money is power, do not run from power. Gather it as you would the finest fruit. Power in the hands of a good person is like a drink of water on a hot summer day. It refreshes everyone with whom it comes in contact with.” – Andy Andrews   Andy goes on to describe that there are three different levels of power: Those who have enough money and power to get by Those who make enough to make things more comfortable for their families and sometimes a few others Those who make enough to change the world. They ignore what’s popular and do what’s right to lead hundreds and thousands of others toward the right thing.   We all have the capacity to do more, but so many of us fear it. I encourage you to stop being afraid to step out and grab that power! And similar to what my podcast says every week:   “Grab your power and use it for good!”     In This Episode We Talk about:   Whether or not money is power The book, “The Traveler’s Gift” The three levels of power   Resources:   The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews http://a.co/d/447WBMI Aligned Enrollment opens soon! I’m so glad that I was introduced to the founder and CEO of Disruptive Advertising, Jacob Baadsgaard. Believing that tithing supports an abundance mindset he’s also incorporated those beliefs into his business too, but creating a company charity committee.   In addition to the above, Jacob created Disruptive Advertising to help other businesses get the most out of their Facebook and Google ad dollars by getting their data in order and creating the right website experience. With clients spending millions per month in ads, it’s obvious Jacob and his team know what they’re doing. In this episode, he shares a few key tips that contributed to his success in hopes that it may help you turn around the performance of yours. Has anyone ever asked you, “Why isn’t this good enough? You’ve already done x-y-z, so what do you want to do more?” Most often the people who ask have good intentions, but they don’t understand that you’re called to do bigger things. And this can be painful for others or make them feel threatened for a couple different reasons.   First, they may just feel threatened and afraid that you’ll move on and leave them behind. And secondly, it forces them to look in the mirror and where they’re at and they’re not liking what reflects back. But what they don’t realize is that almost none of us have done what we’re called to do – at least all aspects of it. We’re not built to remain the same (just look at nature!) and that means that we have to keep striving for more.   “Life isn’t meant to be good enough; it’s meant to keep growing.”   So if anyone questions you, don’t feel offended. They’re just not tapped into their higher calling yet, and you’re entitled to pursue anything you want. This isn’t good enough because you’re called to change more lives by following that calling and living a better life each and every day.      In This Episode We Talk about:   Why you should be unapologetic for what you have Why what you have may not be good enough Why your quest for more threatens others   Resources:   VIP Days with Chris. Money doesn’t guarantee fulfillment and today’s guest, Patrice Washington, is hoping more women catch on. As an award-winning author, transformational speaker, hope-restoring coach, and media personality, she started her first 7-figure mortgage-brokering business with her husband before graduating college. Their business was wildly successful until the recession crashed and they lost everything. Picking herself up after this experience, she realized that she had a lot of knowledge but needed to seek more wisdom. She dug deep and knew it was more important to chase her purpose – not money. She discovered that life is about so much more – relationships, your well-being and your faith to name a few. Recognizing the power of this discovery, she created the 6 Pillars of Redefining Wealth, and now teaches others how they can tie each pillar back to producing wealth – and stay true to who they’re called to be. I had such a great time talking with Patrice – she is such a down-to-earth, purpose-driven woman who relies on faith and her own unique calling to help others find theirs as well. I hope this episode empowers you to break free from any limiting beliefs that you have about yourself and helps you step into your highest purpose and calling.   --   Question Highlights: What were some things you took back from your recent trip to France? Does the thought of working with your husband again scare you? What is lighting you up right now in your life? What is something you would say to someone who’s ignoring a redefining moment? How do you trust? What do you rely on to push past fear? What are the 6 Pillars of Redefining Wealth? What’s something that helps build your faith foundation? What mindset do you keep through the dark times? What’s a message on your heart right now?   In This Episode We Talk about: How Patrice’s recent trip to France impacted her How Patrice and her husband are merging their interests to work together Being driven by purpose The shift that happened in Patrice’s life after her and her husband lost their 7-figure business when the recession hit The difference between knowledge and wisdom Why Patrice initially started a blog How Patrice broke out of the box she (and others) had put herself in Why there’s more to money than budgets and credit reports Patrice’s 6 Pillars of Redefining Wealth (Fit, People, Space, Faith, Work and Money) Protecting the vessel needed to create the vision Creating relationships that matter The Redefining Wealth Podcast And so much more…   Quotes   “The purpose that we’re being called into is greater than any pain that will come with it.”   “Create a lane where you can be all you.”   “I’m committed to the vision but not attached to how I get there.”   “If it was done before, it can be done again.”   “Everything can go bad with money, but if your mind is in the right place, you can always rebuild.”   “You know who you used to be, so before you allow someone to take you back there, give yourself time.”   “You can decide to not decide anything until you’re ready to decide.”   “Choose peace powerfully.” --   Patrice Washington is an award-winning author, transformational speaker, hope-restoring coach, and media personality.   Patrice got her start as your favorite personal finance expert, “America’s Money Maven,” having tremendous success with her “mindset approach” to personal finance. Through her teachings, Patrice empowers women to look at life through the lens of abundance and opportunity, instead of lack and scarcity.   As the founder of Redefining Wealth and The Earn More Money Movement for Women, Patrice has built a thriving community of high-achieving women committed to creating a powerful life vision – in their careers, home, health, and personal finances.   Resources: PatriceWashington.com IG: @seekwisdompcw The Redefining Wealth Podcast on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/redefining-wealth-with-patrice-washington/id1281824139?mt=2 Listen to Lori’s interview on The Redefining Wealth Podcast here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/lori-harder-you-need-a-tribe/id1281824139?i=1000417911740&mt=2  Check out my website at loriharder.com. I just returned from the last leg of my two-month vacation and I feel recharged and freaking ready to go! So today I want to remind you to be grateful for your seed. What the heck do I mean?   You see, we all have special little seeds inside of us and that in turn becomes your business and eventually your wealth. Those little seeds could be a variety of things, such as a special talent or skill, an idea or some sort of innovation that no one has. Regardless of what it is, we all have them, but the problem is that we’re not grateful for them. We’re not grateful because that seed hasn’t turned into a full-blown crop/harvest yet and we’re comparing our seed to another’s crop (that yes, was once a seed).   Here’s where people need to step back and realize that only time and consistent effort will turn that seed into a crop. Don’t compare your journey to someone who’s already put that time/effort in or is in a completely different area of expertise.   “Your seed is unique to you and that’s why it’s valuable.”   Stop being pissed at the rainy days when things are seemingly putting your seed at a standstill and understand that we need those days to help us grow – literally!    When it comes to comparing – just stop!   “Look at each other’s seeds with admiration, not envy.”   It’s not a competition. Instead, figure out a way that you can help those who are already excelling (or maybe someone who’s not). I assure you that when you collaborate and help others, your business will grow faster and bigger as a result. Know that if you’re putting in the effort and taking care of your seed that it will eventually grow into a bountiful harvest – it just needs a little (sometimes a lot) TLC from you.   “Be grateful for what your seed is about to be, but also what it is today.”   Your seeds are unique to YOU so don’t deprive the world of its greatness. My goal is for us all to be happier, healthier and wealthier farmers reaping a huge harvest! Who’s with me?    In This Episode We Talk about:   Why time and consistent effort are essential when it comes to turning your seed into a crop Why we shouldn’t compare our seed to another’s The importance of collaboration   Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. Having grown up in a broken but happy family, today’s guest, Cayla Craft, knew she was meant to do big things and help people. However, she first had to change the lens she was viewing her life through. In order for her to create what she wanted out of life, she had to ditch the mentality of “I am nothing,” and instead share her story to help others.   Once Cayla realized that there was no need to compare her journey with someone else’s, she could stop trying to please everyone, find her purpose, dictate how she lived her life and make herself a priority. And that’s just what she did.   As a result, today Cayla is a self-made millionaire and now teaches other entrepreneurial women how to do the same. She gives women the tools and resources they need to have an abundant mindset and shamelessly pursue their ambitions while still enjoying life.   There were so many moments I related to throughout our conversation and I have a feeling many of you will as well. I would love to hear what those moments are! Happy listening!   --   Question Highlights: Did you always know that you were going to do big things and help a lot of people? What is something you would say to someone who is still in that push phase or exhausting themselves? When did you know your story was the most powerful thing you could share? What do you tell someone to get started on in order to feel fulfilled and successful? Why is it so important to make sure you’re creating new relationships and leaving old ones behind? Why do we feel like we need to please others and how do we break ourselves from that mindset? If someone is on the verge of having a difficult conversation, what would you tell them? Have you ever experienced “imposter syndrome,” and if so, how did you deal with it? What are your fears right now and how do you handle them? It was such a privilege to have my friend, Tim Storey, on the podcast. No matter how long or short our conversations are I always leave them a better person – and I know you will too. His words will set a fire in anyone’s soul! Tim’s story began in Compton, California where his family of seven lived in a two-bedroom apartment. It was there that he learned to “think big in small places.” That thought compounded later on in a life-changing conversation with his sixth-grade teacher when he was told, “I think you are brilliant.” From that moment, Tim bought into that idea, took it to heart and committed himself to helping that brilliant come out in some way. Fast forward to today and let’s just say, Tim’s teacher knew what he was talking about. Since that day, Tim has nurtured that seed of belief with faith, taking action and believing in a little bit of magic, too – and loves sharing that knowledge with others. I hope you enjoy our inspiring conversation as Tim discusses miracles, taking power steps, the difference between a God idea and a good idea and what to do if you find yourself in a season of setback. Can’t wait to hear what you think and if you experience any breakthroughs as a result!   --      Question Highlights: What is one of your superpowers? Who is someone who’s changed your life? What’s your favorite speech you’ve ever given? What’s one regret that you have? Could you share a little about your upbringing? How does someone go from believing in miracles to expecting them? How early did you know/expect that you would do big things? Is it our responsibility to go find these moments of inspiration or should we just wait around and trip across them? As a Godly man, what is your view on gathering wealth? How does someone get into a place of finding these God ideas and how do they take action? Can you tell us about your Utmost app? Is it OK to give out loud? Or are you supposed to keep it to yourself?   In This Episode We Talk about: Tim’s upbringing and life-changing conversation with his 6th grade teacher Miracles – believing, expecting, receiving and releasing them Surrounding yourself with those with similar mindsets and motives Taking power steps (steps with purpose and intent) How the Jackson 5/Michael Jackson made Tim believe in magic Intentionally going after knowledge and information that builds faith and makes us better people Building faith on a daily basis What to do if you’re in a season of setback What a God idea is vs. a good idea When and why you need to stop and take inventory Partnering with power for a comeback Humbling yourself to learn what you need to know The Law of Harvest Tim’s favorite moment of giving And so much more… --   Tim’s Thoughts…   “Think big in small places.”   “Feed your faith, starve your doubt.”   “You cannot give what you don’t have.”   “The way to get out of a difficult situation is to work your land.”   “Success is finding the need and filling it.”   “God has blessed me so now I can be a blessing.”   “An utmost God does not want almost children.”   -- Tim Storey is an acclaimed author, speaker and life coach, well known for inspiring and motivating people of all walks of life, from entertainment executives, celebrities and athletes to adults and children in the most deprived neighborhoods in the country. Tim has traveled to seventy-five countries and spoken to millions of people. He often meets privately to counsel high-profile leaders in various industries.   Tim Storey helps people create the future they desire. If you’re experiencing feelings of lack, scarcity or worry right now, I hope my message today helps free you:   “Your abundance tomorrow is not determined by what you have today.”   We all have these feelings at one time or another, whether we’re super successful or barely making ends meet – and that’s OK! But we must do our best to get back into an energy of abundance by taking one step forward (big or small).   Today, you may not have what you want, but I bet you have a great idea and some skillsets that could help you put it into action. You never know what tomorrow will bring… Maybe with the help of another thriving individual, you’ll put it into action and have a major breakthrough, but you have to keep taking action.   Because there’s only one thing that will create the abundance for you…and that’s YOU! It’s up to you to go just one more step further than you already have.   “Your future is in your hands.”   Take 100% responsibility for where you are today. Yes, the good and the bad. This may feel either frustrating or empowering, but by taking responsibility, you have control of your life. You receive the blame and the credit no matter what.   Sure I’m abundant right now, but Lori and I had our down-and-out moments too. There’s nothing special about me. I have a few talents and a whole lot of gaps to go with it. That’s why it’s up to the individual to fill in those missing gaps and take action to fill them.   We are all just one step, one moment away from finally creating the abundance we want tomorrow. It’s just up to us to go and grab it! Are you ready? You’ve got this.    In This Episode We Talk about:   Why abundance is not determined by what you have The one thing that determines your abundance Taking 100% responsibility for where you’re at   Resources:   Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. I’ve been stalking following today’s guest, Jaclyn Johnson’s @createcultivate IG page for quite some time now. In fact, before I knew her personally, her event photos helped inspire me to create my own stage for The Bliss Project. But here’s the thing, Jaclyn’s events are way more than a gorgeous stage – they’re all about collaboration and helping other women create and cultivate the career of their dreams.   Don’t be fooled though, Create & Cultivate conferences aren’t just for entrepreneurs – they’re for all women who are looking for a refresh of inspiration in all things business.   Jaclyn and I talk about her rough start as a naïve 23-year-old entrepreneur who didn’t know what she was doing, the lessons she learned from it and why it helped her become the wildly successful CEO Creative & Cultivate she is today. Jaclyn also shares why Creative & Cultivate is thriving and why she hopes to help others with her new book, WorkParty, by providing tips on how to run a business, how to start thinking like an entrepreneur and how to maintain friendships, relationships and partnerships along the way. Since this interview I’ve completed her book and it’s definitely an inspirational must-read!     --   Question Highlights: Where are you at right now and how did you get there? What would you tell someone who’s looking for the next thing to get started and take the leap? What’s a question you’ve never been asked that you think people should ask when they’re starting a business or in a business? What does white space mean? What is a lesson that’s been painful and awesome? How did you learn not to take things personal? What do you do for yourself in order to make decisions and implement the culture you want? What is something you’re most excited about and something you’re working through right now? What is something you do with your team every single week to keep your team cohesive? What are the most important messages of your book, WorkParty? Who is someone you look up to right now for inspiration? What are your Creative & Cultivate events/conferences like? How do you let go of people/relationships that aren’t serving you? Why this book right now and who needs it?   In This Episode We Talk about: How Jaclyn’s entrepreneurial journey started and lead to founding Create & Cultivate Why we tend to be more creative when we have nothing to lose Runway and goal-setting Jaclyn’s definition of “white space” in the business world The importance of getting things in writing in terms of getting serious and legalities Friendships and business Approaching business from a human perspective by not escalating and remaining level-headed and fair Why work is part of Jaclyn’s self-care Keeping separation between business and those friends who are near and dear Scaling and growing a business while maintaining authenticity of the brand The most important messages of Jaclyn’s book, WorkParty Going against the status quo of what business looks like for women Handling hard decisions in the best way Why it’s so much better to collaborate vs. compete with others Why Jaclyn wrote WorkParty And so much more…   Quotes   “The reason I was wildly successful was because I didn’t play by the rules.”   “You’ll never know unless you just do it.”   “Start by just starting.”   “Collaboration over competition.”   “So much more can happen if we’re on the same team.”   --   Jaclyn Johnson is a powerhouse entrepreneur. By the time she was 28, she had sold her first business, (No Subject), invested in one of the country’s top female owned startups, Away, and launched her second multimillion dollar company, Create & Cultivate.   Johnson recognized a gap in resources for female millennial entrepreneurs and responded with solutions, Create & Cultivate and now, WorkParty. In the process, Jaclyn’s own philosophy, built on female empowerment, hustling-hard and innovation have propelled her voice to the forefront of the discussion on career, a new thought-leader for millennial women and Gen-Z-ers. Known for her powerful messaging and often imitated never duplicated style of digital and experiential marketing, Johnson is reshaping attitudes on female entrepreneurialism, work culture and the gig economy for women all over the world. In August, Jaclyn’s new book, WorkParty releases via Simon & Schuster, offering her rallying cry for women in the workplace. Imagine being set on a trajectory for the majority of your life, only to wake up one day questioning whether or not you’re on your path or a path someone else put you on.   This is what happened to my guest and author, Alex Banayan. From an early age, Alex’s parents’ dream was for him to become a doctor, and up until his freshman year in college it was what he thought he wanted to – until he realized it didn’t. Upon this realization, he attempted to seek the answers for how other successful people got their start – only to realize that such a book didn’t exist. Overcome with inspiration and a drive to write one on his own, he knew he had to find the funds to back this passion project.   Having trouble thinking about anything but this project, the day before his freshman year final exams, he made the decision to trade an all-nighter studying for exams with one on how to hack The Price Is Right. With a slim chance of actually winning, Alex beat the odds, won a sailboat, sold it, and used the prize money to fund his quest to learn from the world’s most successful people.   Throughout our conversation, we talk all about his seven-year journey to write The Third Door and all the rejections, “flinch” moments and courage that took place to make it happen. Alex is an EPIC storyteller, which you’ll hear in this episode and his book. There were so many goose-bump-inducing moments and nuggets of valuable insight shared and I can’t wait for you to experience all of them and let me know your thoughts, too. Of all the authors I’ve interviewed, this is literally my favorite book so far. Go out and grab his book ASAP – you won’t be sorry!    --      Question Highlights: Who is someone who’s changed your life? What’s your favorite speech you’ve ever given? What’s one regret that you have? How did you end up interviewing the world’s most influential people? How do you hack the Price Is Right? How many names made the list and how many made the book? Who was the coolest person you ended up meeting? Who made you the most nervous/prompted the biggest “flinch?” What’s your advice to get over your “flinch?” What was the worst rejection you received? Were there any people along the way that pulled you back on track and didn’t allow you to quit? Who did you want to interview that you weren’t able to? Where did you get this obsessive persistence from? What would you say is the single-most-important lesson of your book? Now that you’ve spent 7 years knocking down doors, is it fate or luck that finally allows these things to happen? Or is it good old-fashioned making it happen yourself? How do you view money, success and wealth after writing The Third Door?   In This Episode We Talk about: How Alex went from an 18-year-old pre-med kid whose parents’ biggest dream was for him to be a doctor to interviewing some of the world’s most influential people Alex’s big win on The Price Is Right Where the list of people started when he first set out to write his book, The Third Door The journey of getting through to influential people What the crippling “flinch” is The fear that was present in all the successful people he interviewed The difference between fear and courage Rejection and two lessons Alex learned from it What fueled Alex’s persistence when writing his book Why Alex believes luck accounts for 90% of his success The role generosity played in his book Why you don’t become a billionaire on a salary And so much more… --   Alex’s Thoughts…   “The most extreme expectations are the ones that aren't explicitly said.”   “Courage is acknowledging how scared you are, analyzing the consequences, and then deciding that you care so much about it you’re going to take one thoughtful step forward anyway.”   “The core belief was like a thread that, even in my darkest times, I could hold onto and it kept me from calling it quits.”   “The only thing worse than an unproductive hour is quitting all together.”   “Persistence is the means of achieving the goal.”   “The soul of the book is possibility.”   “You can give someone all the best tools and knowledge in the world and their life can still be stuck, but if you change what someone believes is possible, they’ll never be the same.”   “The strongest lessons are the ones that are never said.”   “The hard work is the last 10%.”   -- Alex Banayan is the author of the national bestseller The Third Door, which chronicles his seven-year quest tracking down Bill Gates, Lady Gaga, Warren Buffett, Maya Angelou, Steven Spielberg, Jane Goodall, Steve Wozniak, Jessica Alba, Larry King, and dozens more of the world's most successful people to uncover how they broke through and launched their careers. Banayan has been named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 list, Business Insider's Most Powerful People Under 30, and been featured in major media including CNBC, MSNBC, Fortune, Forbes, Billboard, Businessweek, Bloomberg TV, Fox News, and CBS News. An acclaimed keynote speaker, Banayan has presented the Third Door framework to business conferences and corporate leadership teams around the world including Apple, Google, Nike, IBM, Salesforce, Snapchat, Disney, Harvard, and countless others.  Resources Instagram: @alexbanayan Book: The Third Door - ThirdDoorBook.com - Find it on Amazon Here For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

Do you ever wonder why some people succeed and connect with people right away, while others, when given the same opportunities, just can’t seem to pull it together? Over the years I’ve noticed one common trend that sets these people apart, no matter the kind of sales, business or opportunity – and that’s certainty.   “The most valuable thing you have is swagger.”   I was able to observe this same trait while at an entrepreneurial event this week with 15,000 people. Everyone at this event has the hopes of being really successful, but realistically only about 1,000 will actually see those results. So if all these people were offered the same products and opportunities, why isn’t everyone really successful?   It comes down to your energetic posture. When you approach someone, do you begin your conversation with confidence and excitement? Or do you tend to act shy and unsure of yourself while tripping over your words instead?   When you’re first meeting someone and/or presenting them with an opportunity, they want to look at you and see that you a.) Know where you’re going b.) How you’re getting there and c.) Know who you want to come with you. Sounds simple, but within that first 30-60 seconds of meeting someone, people are often already making the decision to link arms with you – or not.   “The surest person in the room wins.”   Now this isn’t to say that you won’t get nervous – we all have different areas in our lives that bring about that flutter, but it’s your choice to show up either big, confident and sure of yourself or small, meek and unsure.   “You don’t have to show up how you feel – it’s just a choice.”   So stop telling yourself that you can’t do x-y-z because you’re too shy or introverted. It’s just a story! Every single one of you can show up as the most certain and confident person you know you are at the core. And it doesn’t take years to do! Give it a few practice runs, get out there with certainty and it’s inevitable that your success will follow suit!      In This Episode We Talk about:   The No. 1 reason some people succeed and some don’t – even though they’re given the same opportunities The importance of energetic posture Putting a stop to limiting beliefs and stories    Resources:   Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. My guest today, yogi and wellness coach, Koya Webb, personifies the word love. We were fortunate enough to chat in person, but I know you’ll feel her warm energy through the recording as well. And with a platform that encourages people to “love yourself, love others, and love the planet,” it’s no wonder.   Raised in small-town Tennessee, Koya was counting on athletics to get her out into the world. Unfortunately, right at the time of a life-changing conference meet, she suffered a stress fracture in her back. Devastated, she heeded the advice of her counselor and took up yoga and breath work to help her rehab. Even though her first yoga class was anything but easy, Koya was in love at first breath. In fact, she found herself completely rehabbed in 6 months and went on to win a conference event the following year.   Also during that time, Koya learned to slow down and listen to her body. Today, she credits this practice along with yoga, meditation and maintaining a plant-based diet for the high-vibing life she lives every day.   Koya offers so much valuable insight into living a vegan lifestyle (or just dabbling in it), and if you get one thing out of our conversation it would be to stop and truly tune into what your body is saying. You never know what it will tell you if you pay attention.   --   Question Highlights: What is most exciting for you in your world right now? What is your upcoming book about? What was your life’s big pivot point? How old were you when you first started listening to your body? What would you tell people if they’ve never let their feelings lead them? Where should people start? Does being vegan ever bring up challenges for you? Are there practical ways to start dabbling in a more plant-based diet? What is the most impactful thing that’s shifted for you since becoming plant-based?   In This Episode We Talk about: Koya’s yoga teacher training course Koya’s upcoming book Changing your frequency from fear to love Why yoga and meditation help connect you to your soul How a stress fracture in her back led Koya to discover yoga and breath work The importance of listening to your body and slowing down when it feels called to How Koya practices what she teaches in her teacher training The benefits of plant-based diet Why online-bought food carries a higher vibration How Koya navigates eating when out vs. at home And so much more…   Quotes “Yoga is the perfect tool.”   “You can’t love others to the detriment of yourself.”   “You can thrive and have a lot of energy, gain weight or lose weight on a plant-based diet.”   “Wherever you are on your journey, you are loved.”   -- Koya Webb is an internationally recognized yoga teacher, personal trainer, holistic health and wellness coach, author, motivational speaker, and professional fitness model revolutionizing the holistic living landscape. I’ve known today’s guest, Casey Zeman, for a couple years now, and I’m so thrilled that we finally get to sit down and dive deep into the journey of his career.   From actor to real estate broker to YouTube expert and consultant, he discovered after building his own “YouTube Revealed” course that webinars were the key to success. After some trial and error with the price of his course, he cracked the code on asking for more money and increasing his sales along with it. His biggest tip? Always go into a webinar with sincerity and value. Let your audience know who you are and what solution you’re going to offer them and you’re well on your way!   If you’ve been thinking of incorporating a webinar into your business, don’t miss out on this freeing and immeasurably value episode. Now, for Lori and I to incorporate his advice as well!      --      Question Highlights: What’s one of your favorite books? What’s one of your superpowers? What’s one of your favorite quotes? Who is someone who’s changed your life? What does your career journey like so far? What should people consider when pricing their online courses? Why is it that you can sell for a higher price and an even higher conversion when you’re selling via webinar vs. anything else? What are your top tips that people should know to have a successful webinar?   In This Episode We Talk about: Why Casey doesn’t think he’s generous Casey’s career journey thus far How increasing Casey’s course price increased his sales Valuing your time and worth Why pricing is based on results How webinars make it easier to connecting one-on-one with people and build relationships The importance of knowing your audience’s pain and giving them a solution Why sincerity and value are necessary when conducting a webinar Sharing the common solution and then revealing the uncommon solution The sale/buy-out of majority shares of Casey’s business And so much more… --   Casey’s Thoughts…   “The more successful somebody is the more impacted I feel.”   “Generosity is not a zero-sum game.”   “There’s an audience ready for you – no matter who you are.”   “Take ownership of your expertise and what you know.”   -- Casey Zeman is the founder of the popular webinar too,l EasyWebinar and the TribeMinded method. Servicing over 8,000 customers has given Casey the rare privilege of witnessing what works and what doesn't in the way of webinars, sales, and what it truly takes to scale a business using both engagement and automation combined.   Casey has consulted such companies as Harper Collins, Estee Lauder and Dell on engagement and automation strategies and has built his own 7-figure software/info product business. Today I’m going to give you the answer to the question of why your audience might not be growing – regardless of what business you’re in. Brace yourself, it’s really quite simple.   The No. 1 reason your audience isn’t growing is because you’re not putting information and content – that’s shareable – out there. But was does it mean to be truly shareable? It’s about blowing the minds of your current audience so much that they are compelled to share it with their audience – and then their audience becomes your audience. See how this can turn into powerful ripple effect? Your content has to be so DANG good that it practically forces others to share.   Here are three ways to increase your chances: Start creating a better experience. This can happen simply by always having the posture and intent of putting something extraordinary out there. Do it more often. Create, create, create…share, share, share. Ask others to share and give them directions.   That last point may make you feel a bit awkward, but people crave specific directions and certainty. And besides, you likely won’t receive what you don’t ask for, right?   So here’s a little test… go over to Instagram, give me follow @chriswharder and share one of my posts, too. Make sure to tag me so I can send you a thank you! I love hearing from you all and can’t wait to hear what happens when you implement the above tips!      In This Episode We Talk about:   The No. 1 reason your audience isn’t growing What it means to be shareable Three steps to help you grow your audience   Resources:   Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. Today’s guest, Tim Storey, is someone I’ve wanted to have on Earn Your Happy since before it was officially a thing. So you can imagine that I was practically levitating from excitement (and let’s be honest, I still am) to chat with him. If you’ve never heard of Tim, you’re missing out because he’s a master at moving people into action and helping people turn setbacks into comebacks. Seriously, when Tim speaks his energy comes out of his pores!   Realizing early on he wanted to help heal others, in our conversation we talk about where it all began (picture seven people in a two-bedroom house) and how he credits his upbringing to helping him think big in small places. We touch on spending time with people who get you (your tribe) and why we all need to start paying attention and be an observer to all the discoveries around us.   You may want to listen to this episode twice (I know I’ll be listening again) just to take in each and every one of his wisdom-filled words. I can’t wait to hear your takeaways!   --   Question Highlights: How did you become a speaker? How can we enjoy the discovery while in the recovery zone? Do you still have slumps and dry spells? What are some of the key things that help you speak with full expression, and how did you get to that place? What made you hold onto what your 6th grade teacher told you and make it your north star? What made it stand out? For people who feel like they need to change to be something or they don’t feel like they’re ready for the “thing,” what would you tell them? Do we have to make an empowering reason as to why we’re in a “winter?” How do you know the distinction of when to share certain things with others? How does one not get intimidated by the thought of mastery, but instead be almost pulled by their message to mastery? How do people know when to go to the next level of work?   In This Episode We Talk about: What moved Tim to become a speaker and help heal others Why the recovery zone is the common denominator Staying in the moment during your discovery Going back to being curious and innocent again Changing the channel of what you’re thinking and how Tim shifts his channel Tuning into the right things at the right times Being with people who get you (your tribe) Why Tim still holds onto his 6th grade teacher’s standard Breathing life into others through speaking Why people oftentimes must go left before they go right What Tim did when he was served papers while he was speaking at an event Why your testimony is the most powerful thing you have The Law of Harvest Why we can’t look for results every day And so much more…   Quotes “Unlock your discovery just by paying attention and observing.”   “If you’re not careful, life will knock the curiosity out of you.”   “Feed your faith, starve your doubt.”   “What I say, I live.”   “Set to be settled to be seasoned to soar.”   “You are seasoned for a reason. “   “You can handle the left and right at the same time.”   “Not all things should be spoken…some things should be left behind.”   “Don’t get stuck in the result.”   -- Tim Storey is an acclaimed author, speaker and life coach, well known for inspiring and motivating people of all walks of life, from entertainment executives, celebrities and athletes to adults and children in the most deprived neighborhoods in the country. 145: An Amazing Story of Giving vs. Judging

For The Love Of Money

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 26, 2018 15:00

Lori and I just wrapped up our trip to Europe and wow, it was one of our greatest experiences to date – not just enjoyment wise, but we learned so many things about ourselves and other people.   One particular story and lesson we’ve taken home taught us about perspective on how people think, but don’t take action.   While having lunch in a beautiful square in Spain, we overheard the conversation of a group of women on vacation at a nearby table. They were talking about another person they knew – someone who presumably had a lot of money. They were appalled that someone could buy a $60,000 watch when they could use that money instead to feed people. Of course, my ears perked up because this was clearly a money mindset issue.   But before I go further, please know that by sharing the following story my goal is not to brag; nor is it to judge these women. After all, we’re all on different journeys, right?   “Make a difference, don’t make a judgment.”   Their judgments all come down to perspective. So yes, a $60,000 watch is a great deal of money to an everyday family with an average income. But if this person has $100 million or billion, it likely doesn’t affect how they give. What if they annually give away $50 million? To this particular person, $60,000 may very well be a drop in the bucket compared to the impact they’re making already.   As these women continued discussing, suddenly a beautiful woman entered the square. She was a woman who I could tell was beautiful inside and out, but it was clear that she was mentally and physically challenged – and homeless.   A bit later, we heard this angelic voice sing one of the most moving songs we’d ever heard. We looked around and around and found ourselves looking at this same woman. Our minds were blown and I felt compelled to get up, walk the 500 feet to where she was standing (with a cup in hand for money), and give her 50 Euros. She turned so quickly she dropped the cup filled with coins. I bent down to help her pick it all up and place the 50 Euros in her cup. When she realized what I had given her, her face lit up with a smile so big I couldn’t contain my own, and it was in that moment, even though we didn’t speak each other’s languages, I could see the profound gratitude she felt.   The woman continued to sing and weave her way through the square and eventually made her way near us and toward the table of women. She stopped at our table, rewarding us again with a bright smile, and proceeded onward. With her cup extended for money, these women brushed her (as well as other performers) off. This was a clear example of people preaching and talking about how someone else should give, but when given an opportunity to improve someone else’s life, they didn’t.   I tell you this story to demonstrate that there are a lot of people out there judging, talking and preaching, but all of that adds up to nothing in the lives of people who actually need a handout. What does add up are the people who have a few extra dollars to give in the moment when someone shows up that could be given to.   So, do you want to be one of the talkers or the do'ers? I think you already know what my answer is.   In This Episode We Talk about:   What Chris has discovered on his trip to Europe Making a difference vs. making a judgment Understanding perspective   Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. For The Love Of Money

Today we’re talking about the huge difference between being abundant and financially irresponsible. You see so many people want to be abundant but they’re using abundance and increasing their financial thermostat as an excuse.   “Abundance without responsibility is stupidity.”   Sounds harsh, but here’s what I mean. If you’re living outside of your means, perhaps buying high-price items (homes, cars etc.) when you don’t have the secured money to do it, you’re not actually living in abundance. On the contrary, you’re likely attracting more lack, and you feel fraudulent and broke because you’re not ready to spend like that. And let’s be honest, when you’re broke it’s hard to feel abundant.   I can talk about this firsthand because Lori and I were once living this way. We had the house and the cars, but the recession it and we felt the complete opposite of abundant. It’s my hope that by sharing this that you’ll remember this lesson and avoid going through something similar.   So how do you know when to feel abundant and buy nice things, or when to hold back? It sounds too easy, but your soul knows. Your gut knows. Tune in and listen to what it feels like when you’re going to make a purchase.   To help keep it on your radar, I’ve come up with seven simple rules/steps that will help clue you if you’re ready to start spending more.   Set aside an emergency fund that covers one month of expenses. Work to stop buying anything with unsecured debt (credit cards) that you’re not going to pay off right away. If you have unsecured debt, start paying it off as quickly as you can. This is also the point where I believe you should start working in an occasional splurge (I don’t like the all or nothing approach). Focus on your savings by working up to 6 months’ worth of expenses Once you’ve reached a savings of 1 years’ worth of expenses – start funding your retirement. The 1-Year Rule. At this point, once you can buy and want a bigger-ticket item, wait ONE year, then buy it. Want to speed up the above process? Invent more income!   Once you start doing the above, I know you will attract true abundance and in turn do great things for yourself – and others!     In This Episode We Talk about:   The difference between being abundant or financially irresponsible Being aware of your financial patterns 7 rules that help you know when you can start treating yourself     Resources:   Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. 141: My Quarter Million Dollar AMEX Bill...WTF??

For The Love Of Money

Picture it… You receive your monthly credit card statement, open it and find that the balance due is a quarter million dollars! You’d be blown away, right? Well, let me tell you... I sure was. At first, I felt instant feelings of anger, panic…and scarcity. Yes, I still have flashes of that money mindset belief, but this one knocked the wind out of me. I wasn’t expecting that balance – honestly, it wasn’t even on my radar. My range of emotions went from holy crap – $250K could buy me a nice home in my hometown of Green Bay, WI to how the hell did we spend that much money in 30 days? Were we spending irresponsibly? Will this be the new norm? Then, I slowed that train down and realized we had a lot of expenses last month. I hosted my mastermind group and we go ALL out. We spent two weeks away on Lori’s book tour with our team. Add to that social media ads for the book, a charity donation, international travel and more…well, I’d say we got an awful lot for that quarter million.  So I reversed that scarcity mindset and instead used it as a moment to practice abundance and celebrate it. It was up to me to take this opportunity and zero in on how fortunate we are to have the money to pay this bill and to see just how far we’ve come over the years. Not to mention how many AMEX points we’re getting out of this bill, too! ;-)   It was time to practice what I teach and turn this into a celebratory moment. While I had 30 days to pay my bill, I made the decision to pay it right then and there – because I could. I put on some happy music, poured myself a glass of scotch whiskey and paid it in full. Why put off paying it when it will only put out signals of lack and fear to the universe?   While some may be critical of my transparency, I didn’t share this story to be criticized. I shared it to demonstrate that we all still struggle with our money mindset beliefs. Will these beliefs ever go away? No, but you’ll learn to handle them more quickly and with more ease because you have the tools to walk you through them.   I hope this episode inspires YOU to celebrate each and every one of your wins – big and small.
