“Resting requires a stillness and a surrender that is uncomfortable.” Alex Raymond is joined by Tovi Scruggs-Hussein, a visionary leader and healer, to explore how meditation and emotional intelligence can reshape how we live and lead. Tovi shares her journey from a life of high achievement to one grounded in mindfulness and self-awareness. How can rest, ease, and intentionality bring flow into our lives, especially in a culture that glorifies hustle? Tovi discusses the role of “beingness” in leadership and challenges the constant drive to “do” with a more self-aware and compassionate approach. She also touches on the power of racial healing as she explains how a deeper connection to ourselves can create more inclusive spaces and interrupt ingrained biases. If you're an entrepreneur trying to overcome the pressures of leadership, this episode offers an invitation to rethink success. What would it mean for us to embrace ease without guilt? Tovi's insights remind us that real growth begins with stillness. Quotes “Sometimes, as leaders, we are the trigger for our staff. We're the trigger for our teams. But if we don't know how we're triggering to others, if we're not fully aware of what's happening in us as we're being engaged with others, then it limits us as leaders.” (11:57 | Tovi Scruggs-Hussein) “We absolutely act and behave from who we be. That's what influences and impacts our doing. So, if we're not conscious of who we be and say we want to be a more inclusive leader, if we're not conscious of what needs to be healed and transformed within us—where we're not inclusive—then how do our policies and practices create inclusion?” (14:52 | Tovi Scruggs-Hussein) “I believe that we burn out because we make our living and leading so difficult. It's like going against the grain of who we are, almost like grinding a clutch or gears, instead of finding flow, smoothness, and alignment.” (16:06 | Tovi Scruggs-Hussein) “If we want to be a certain kind of leader, we have to invest in that beingness. We have to invest in ourselves as how we want to be experienced. And that can look different for a lot of different people. It can mean that you need some energy work for a while. It can mean that you need some consciousness work. It could mean that you need to meditate or go on a silent retreat. It can look like different things for different folks.” (44:34 | Tovi Scruggs-Hussein) Links Connect with Tovi Scruggs-Hussein: Website: https://www.ticiess.com/ Connect with Alex Raymond: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/afraymond/ Website: https://amplifyam.com/ HiveCast.fm is a proud sponsor of The Conscious Entrepreneur Podcast. I want to start with a quick content warning: today we're talking about grief, specifically the death of a parent. If this is a vulnerable topic for you, this might be an episode to skip or listen to with care. I've been feeling the pull to record an episode on grieving while running your business for a while now, mainly because this has been so prominent in my own business, and I haven't found much content that speaks to it. This isn't going to be an episode where I teach you how to smash your business goals despite your grief – in my experience, that's just not how it works. For me, making space to care for myself while grieving is the main thing that has allowed me to balance the work that that I love, which sustains me and my family, with the very personal processes and emotions around losing a loved one. Listen in for a nuanced conversation on what it's like to find balance in times of loss, and the unavoidably practical side of trying to slow down in a world that keeps moving. If you have experience with anything discussed in this episode, I'm sending lots of love your way. QUOTES "Sometimes things do fall out of the sky when we weren't expecting it. And that's really scary. But rather than working on all the ways you'll manage it, try to work on looking at the things you can control. One of the main things you can control is believing that you will cope." "This doesn't have to be the year you smash it. What if this is the year that you coast? What if this is the year where you get by and it's okay? If I'd been honest about that in the moment, I actually think I'd have made more money ironically, because I think I'd have made a plan for a coasting me, not a smashing it me."

Whether you're a bowler or a batsman, finding a coach who specializes in your area is key to success. Why choosing a coach based on cost alone can be misleading. Sometimes investing in a more experienced coach saves time and frustration in the long run.How the personality and style of a coach can make or break the coaching experience. It's important to find a coach whose style complements your learning approach. The importance of reviews and testimonials when selecting a coach. Hearing about real results from other players can help validate your choice.Key Takeaways:Having defined cricketing goals helps you find a coach that aligns with your specific needs, whether you're focusing on batting, bowling, or a particular skill set.Don't base your decision solely on cost; sometimes a slightly more expensive coach with experience can get you faster and better results. The best coach is not always the most popular or affordable; it's the one whose style and expertise resonate with your personal learning style.Good coaches not only know their sport but can also communicate effectively, whether through tough love or a more gentle, supportive approach.Always check testimonials and social proof. The best coaches consistently produce results like wickets taken or runs scored by their students.Quotes:“Sometimes the best coaching tips happen outside of coaching.” – James Breese“The best athletes have coaches—no one gets to the top on their own.” – Josh Kennedy“You can struggle on your own, or you can go with somebody along the way—it's more fun with a coach.” – James BreeseRead more in our blog here! In this enlightening episode of "Financial Advisors Save the Darndest Things," A.B. Ridgeway delves into the complex topic of accessing funds from retirement accounts during emergencies. As life throws unexpected financial challenges, many people consider tapping into their 401ks and IRAs. This episode explores the implications of the Secure Act 2.0, which permits limited withdrawals without penalties, and offers strategic alternatives to protect long-term savings. Key Takeaways:The Impact of the Secure Act 2.0: The Secure Act 2.0 allows individuals to withdraw up to $1,000 from retirement accounts for emergencies without facing early withdrawal penalties. However, it is essential to note that this withdrawal still incurs income taxes unless repaid. The Act also restricts these withdrawals to once a year, and a new withdrawal is permitted only after three years or upon repayment. These changes offer temporary relief but require careful consideration to avoid jeopardizing long-term financial goals. The Pitfalls of Early Withdrawals: A.B. Ridgeway highlights the potential pitfalls of early withdrawals, which include a 10% penalty and higher taxes. For instance, withdrawing $200,000 before age 59½ can result in a loss of $20,000 due to penalties, along with additional taxes that can consume up to 40% of the withdrawal. Understanding these financial consequences is vital to making informed decisions that align with long-term retirement objectives.Exploring Alternatives to Withdrawals: Instead of tapping into retirement savings, A.B. Ridgeway suggests exploring alternative options such as taking a 401k loan or securing a private loan at a favorable interest rate. A 401k loan allows you to borrow against your savings and repay through payroll deductions, avoiding taxes and penalties. Additionally, establishing a private loan with reasonable terms can provide the necessary funds without sacrificing future financial security. The Importance of Financial Planning: Effective financial planning is the cornerstone of achieving long-term security and stability. A.B. Ridgeway emphasizes the necessity of living below your means and creating a financial cushion to handle emergencies without resorting to retirement savings. Quotes:"Sometimes it's not that we don't have money; it's that we don't have money to live the lifestyle that we want.""An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Financial planning is crucial to avoid penalties and achieve long-term goals.""Giving you access to more money makes them look like the good guy, but higher taxes on withdrawals can erode your financial security."

If people take your isolation personally, then they're the problem. I am no longer going to pour from an empty cup. 335 Seasons of Life Regret and wondering what could have been is one of the most universal human experiences, it's normal to feel guilt and regret over not achieving something or making mistakes, but it's how you learn from these experiences and move into the future that defines you. In today's episode Sarah Elkins and Hope Marshall discuss regret, healing, and allowing life to move on especially when it's hard to do so. Highlights Part of what makes people interesting is when they try things they aren't necessarily good at. You need to take time to heal from pain, reschedule if you cannot be fully present with somebody. It's okay for seasons of life to pass. Quotes “Sometimes your season is up with people, and you just have to accept that. And it's not bad blood, they're not being mean to you, maybe you met the need and that's it.” “The older you get the more you realize people aren't really thinking about you as much as you think. They're not sitting around like; “I really want to figure out how to hurt this person.” They're not. Some people are but they're crazy, that's pretty rare though, but most people are just trying to get through their own lives and meet their own personal goals. Sometimes we're a part of that and sometimes we're a priority and sometimes we're not, but either way it has nothing to do with us.” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, What part of your path are you thinking of in terms of regret that you can reframe to better understand that that part of your path is a big important aspect of who you are today. And if you hadn't experienced exactly that path you would not be the same person you are today bringing the joy and the wisdom and the experience every single day now and into your future to wherever you sit. And, as always, thank you for listening. About Hope My name is Hope Marshall: author, facilitator, and contentment hub cultivator for quirky women over 40. As a child, I loved reading and writing. This was further confirmed after I'd come across my old diary from middle school that said I wanted to be an English teacher. By day, I am a learning and development strategist, with over 10 years' experience designing and facilitating training within an array of industries - not too far from my childhood aspirations. My flagship book Corny Girl Chronicles and, Affirmations for Women cards were born out of my early childhood aspirations, coupled with a genuine passion for leveraging and sharing my triumphs, lessons, and insights with others who are like me: looking to make the most of our 3rd act of life. Be sure to check out her LinkedIn and Instagram! As well as A Hope Inspired! About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Be sure to check out the Storytelling For Professionals Course as well to make sure you nail that next interview!
Matt takes a brief break from contemplating his next vehicle purchase to join Garrett in exploring the phenomenon where agents and individuals choose to cling to perceived life preservers or safety nets in their lives, which, while they may keep them ‘afloat', can actually hinder their overall growth. Through analogies and real life examples, our hosts highlight the importance of letting go of what no longer serves to pave the way for new opportunities and successes. Together, they encourage listeners to step out of their comfort zones, noting that the waters of change are often shallower and less daunting than they appear. Employing personal stories from real estate professionals who have embraced change to thrive in their careers, Matt and Garrett emphasize the mirroring challenges and growth experienced in personal and professional aspects of life. They proceed to offer practical advice on adopting small, actionable skills that lead to breakthrough results, urging the listeners to engage further through their Facebook group and access additional resources on the Ninja Selling platform. In essence, today's episode not only shifts perspectives but also inspires actionable change, proving that embracing growth and letting go of false securities are crucial for achieving success in both real estate and life. Today's episode of Dance Dad is taking us to church! Reverend Dawn Lynn Check, a Dance Moms “Pre-OG OG,” joins host John Corella to talk about Jesus, the Bible, and the importance of reading between the lines. Many people misinterpret Jesus as “kumbaya,” explains Dawn (as she prefers to be called), forgetting that he was a human with a variety of emotions, including anger in the face of injustice. Others practice “proof texting” taking snippets of the Word and interpreting it to suit our own ends. Updates and changes made to different versions of the Bible can also alter the Word's message, to disastrous ends. The two discuss the inclusion of the word “homosexual,” in the text—a change which was made only in 1946—and the implications of that change to generations of people. They also discuss the importance of standing up for what's right even when we're scared or facing persecution. Dawn shares what she loves most about Jesus, what led her to ministry, and early memories of reading Bible stories with her grandmother. Stay until the end for a surprise special guest and to join Dawn in loving prayer. Quotes “Sometimes we picture Jesus as this kumbaya character—kind, gentle Jesus. The reality is Jesus had a lot of emotions. But we have softened Jesus to the point that he doesn't have power, and power doesn't mean beating people up, or stomping on them or lording it over them—pun intended, maybe.” (5:45 | Dawn Lynn Check) “I think the word of God should be as accessible as it can be, however, to your point, you should always struggle with the Word. If you're not struggling, you're not doing it right.” (11:21 | Dawn Lynn Check) “As a disciple of Christ, throwing the tables, it's my job as a disciple to talk to people and say, ‘Those tables need to be overturned.' And by sitting here talking about it with you, I'm kind of saying, ‘This isn't right.' [Donald Trump] is profiting off of those bibles for his criminal and political campaign. That's not right.” (14:56 | Dawn Lynn Check) “I have never felt such love, such completeness as listening to the word of God on my grandmother's lap.” (16:29 | Dawn Lynn Check) “We are so uncomfortable with sexuality and sex, and there is so much sex in the Bible. You know, we're banning books. Have we banned the Bible?” (30:40 | Dawn Lynn Check) “I don't think people realize that I was the funny one. If you talk to any of them, I was the one that made them laugh.” (35:10 | Dawn Lynn Check) “I love that Jesus allows himself to be weak, and allows us to participate in our own redemption.” (38:02 | Dawn Lynn Check) “How do we stand up for what's right, what's good when we feel scared God isn't going to protect us and we're going to be put up on that cross? Ruth Bader Ginsburg said, ‘Do it, even if you're shaking.'” (38:27 | Dawn Lynn Check) Links Connect with Reagan Check: www.instagram.com/Regancheck 1946 the Movie: https://www.1946themovie.com/ Dance Dad with John Corella on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dancedadwithjohncorella/ John on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/john_corella/ Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Because if we go into any relationship, any - our spouse, our kids, our friends - having a set agenda of what experiencing that relationship should look like to us, it can be very unhealthy really quick.” - Faith Eury Cho “Start simple. Start with something that is a natural offshoot to your regular rhythms of life.” - Faith Eury Cho “I remember moments I would tell God, ‘I don't have a prayer to pray, I don't have a song to sing, but I'm here.'” - Faith Eury Cho “God cares about every little thing, and we want to give him the opportunity to show us that.” - Dr. Kim Kimberling “Some of us are friends with fear, not the presence of God, and I think we've got to break up with our fear!” - Faith Eury Cho QUESTIONS FOR YOU What is one way you and your spouse like to worship God together? Your content can go so much further than you even know.A single video or podcast can turn into blog and Instagram posts, tweets, clips, TikTok videos, newsletters, and more. But tackling all of that on a small marketing team can feel enormous. So this is where you divide and conquer across platforms and channels. That's one of the things the Real Housewives do really well. And what we're chatting about today with the help of special guest, Content Marketing Manager at Quora, Shelagh Dolan. Together, we talk about slicing and dicing your content, identifying and catering to untapped audiences, and putting underperforming content “on pause.”About our guest, Shelagh DolanShelagh Dolan is Content Marketing Manager at Quora. She joined the company in June of 2022 and leads content strategy for its advertising division, Quora for Business. She has over a decade of experience building content strategies for global B2B brands, aligning content with sales objectives, and driving business growth. Prior to Quora, Shelagh served as Director of Content Marketing at eMarketer and Senior Content Marketing Manager at Business Insider.About QuoraQuora is a Q&A platform with over 400 million monthly unique visitors that empowers people to share and grow the world's knowledge. The vast majority of human knowledge is still not on the internet. Most of it is trapped in the form of experience in people's heads, or buried in books and papers that only experts can access. Founded in 2009, Quora is working to democratize access to knowledge of all kinds—so if someone out there knows something, anyone else can learn it. In February of 2023, Quora launched its second product, Poe, a platform that lets people ask questions, get instant answers, and have back-and-forth conversations with a wide variety of AI-powered bots.About the Real HousewivesThe Real Housewives is a reality TV show franchise about the lives of affluent women, and it usually centers around a specific city or area. The first show was The Real Housewives of Orange County, which aired in 2006. It was originally called Behind the Gates, but Bravo decided to change the name based on the popularity of the Desperate Housewives and The OC at the time to The Real Housewives of Orange County. There are now 11 U.S.-based versions including The Real Housewives of New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, D.C., etc. And 21 international versions, as well as a bunch of spinoffs, including Vanderpump Rules. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Real Housewives:Slice and dice your content. Create shareable pieces that project members will want to share on their own channels. It's how you divide and conquer across platforms, and make promotion a lighter lift for everyone involved. And you get more juice out of the ‘parent' content. In the Real Housewives, Shelagh says, ‘You have the show itself. Then Andy Cohen is doing Watch What Happens Live, where he's discussing the episode that just happened. Then on top of that, each cast member is their own brand ambassador. They do a social media post about it, reminding people to watch. They're also often live posting during the show. You combine that with the multitude of podcasts, blogs, meme accounts dedicated to recapping these episodes. It's really just like a content machine and it just keeps on giving.”Identify and cater to untapped audiences. Appeal to a wider range of people by identifying a new target audience and catering to them. The Real Housewives did this by creating a show that starred women in the age range of their target demographic. Meredith said, “There are about five to seven women in [the Real Housewives] and they're usually in their 30s to 60s. An executive with NBC Universal said that often, women in that age group are overlooked, and so they really wanted to appeal to that demographic, and it would be a new audience for them. So they were drawing in people that they weren't already attracting to their content.”Put underperforming content “on pause”. Be unflinchingly honest about the content that's getting poor engagement. Use that data to inform your next move and make adjustments as needed. Shelagh says, “[Bravo will] have the hard conversations if viewership is falling off. They definitely monitor qualitatively the social media discussions happening around individuals as well as seasons overall. And they will call someone and fire them if it's not working out and bring someone new on. There's been a few people that - they call it ‘putting on pause.' They put them on pause, which is a nice way of saying, ‘please don't come back,' and maybe there'll be something in the future.”Quotes*”Sometimes you have to make the tough call. Like, ‘This person isn't good in the content and we need to bring somebody else in who might be more junior. Or maybe we have to platform this person because they are important strategically to our company.” - Ian Faison*”[I realized that] I'm doing random acts of marketing. So let's see how we can get this to be more structured. So really bringing order to processes and following kind of like how the housewives have a recurring schedule. Like, let's get these cornerstone pieces of content, identify what they are and put them to a timeline.” - Shelagh Dolan*”What has helped me be successful in different roles is building relationships with cross functional team members and really aligning myself with subject matter experts in the company. This was my first role in ad tech. So really getting up to speed on the market and what matters most and building good relationships with our customer success reps who talk to our clients every day is important.” - Shelagh DolanTime Stamps[0:55] Meet Shelagh Dolan, Content Marketing Manager at Quora[1:45] Why are we talking about the Real Housewives?[3:36] What does Shelagh's work at Quora entail?[5:16] Learn more about Quora[7:28] What is the Real Housewives about?[14:42] What makes the Real Housewives remarkable?[25:04] What are marketing lessons we can take from the Real Housewives?[39:41] What's Shelagh's content strategy?[46:53] How does Shelagh prove the ROI of content?LinksWatch the Real HousewivesConnect with Shelagh on LinkedInLearn more about QuoraAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. In this week's bite-size bonus episode, Seven Figure Secrets, I'm talking about the discomfort that can come with success. We often find failure much easier to sit with than success! And that's why we need more support coping with business when it all starts to work, compared to when it all feels like it's going wrong. In this episode, we'll cover how to cope when it all starts to work, overcoming self sabotage, and embracing your Next Level Self. Quotes: “Sometimes we get so used to the feeling of failure that it becomes a security blanket. We know where we are with failure, and even though this is dysfunctional, we can feel more comfortable with the familiarity of feeling not enough that we would almost choose it over joy, happiness and success.” “It's ok to have a bit of an identity crisis as you experience personal growth and business growth. Who you are is changing, and that means saying goodbye to your old self, that version of you who couldn't be with success. It's ok to feel some grief about this too. But as you say goodbye to your old self, you are also becoming your Next Level Self. We never have to let go without also taking hold of what is next.” Useful Links The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Business – Free Download Workshop - ‘What I Focus On Expands - Maximising Your Flow with Wealth Dynamics' Get in touch with Jessica to discuss your consulting business Jessica's LinkedIn
As Gratitude Month continues and Thanksgiving approaches, Matt and Garrett begin today's episode by expressing their gratitude for their dedicated listeners, and invite them on a journey revolving around the relentless pursuit of income in the real estate industry. Challenging the industry's obsession with constantly making more money, our hosts emphasize the importance of normalizing the idea that earning six figures is not only acceptable but can be incredibly fulfilling. Together, they share stories of individuals who have found happiness and contentment at various income levels and encourage listeners to define their own success and be proud of their unique real estate journeys. Matt and Garrett acknowledge the pressure within the industry to constantly increase earnings and stress that this mindset may not be suitable for everyone. They highlight the benefits of a six-figure income, such as supporting a high quality of life, making investments, and serving as a second household income. They caution against comparing yourself to others and underscore the importance of defining success on your own terms. Matt and Garrett also discuss the significance of finding balance, pursuing growth, and continuously striving to improve. Ultimately, the episode encourages listeners to embrace the idea that success in real estate is a deeply personal journey, and happiness and contentment should be at its core. I continue to fail, and I'm not afraid to fall down and get back up.” - Jill Winger Takeaways: One of the most important aspects of entrepreneurship is the ability to leverage your knowledge and experience. Community really helps breed accountability. And when we're accountable to ourselves and to other people, it helps us continue to move the needle forward. Stepping away from his usual setting at PhysioRoom, Denver's hub for performance-based rehab, Dr. Fix recaps a two-day conference he recently attended with his team. This event brought together over 200 healthcare professionals, each with their own stories and experiences from their practices. These weren't just presentations and Q&As; they were intimate exchanges, moments of "I've been there," and collective brainstorming sessions to support one another. What resonated most with Dr. Fix was the simple power of being surrounded by peers who understand the journey. This collective spirit provided a sense of contributing value to peers by sharing your own experiences, of solidarity in shared challenges and a celebration of progress and successes. It was a reminder that there's strength in numbers and that there's value in both tackling challenges and celebrating successes together. Dr. Fix's takeaway for listeners is straightforward: Seek out your community. Be it a dedicated fitness group, a professional network, or even a hobby club — these are the spaces where support, motivation, and accountability naturally thrive. Key Takeaways: • Having a community of like-minded people can provide accountability and support in various aspects of life, including fitness, mental health, and personal development. • Being around a group of people who are going through similar struggles can help individuals realize that they are not alone and that it is okay to ask for help. • Celebrating wins along the way is important, as it helps to motivate and encourage continued progress. • Being part of a community allows for the exchange of ideas and the opportunity to learn from others' experiences and successes. Quotes: "Sometimes it just takes being around those people and having a community and talking to other people that are dealing with the same stuff to help you realize that, to help you realize that you're not alone, that you're not the only one that's having a hard time with things." (05:01 | Dr. Andrew Fix) "You need to find a community. You need to have a community, something that you're a part of, some group that you're a part of, that can help hold you accountable." (08:39 | Dr. Andrew Fix) "Try to find your community. And how can you invest more into that and into those people? And just see where those relationships go, see what that flourishes into and see how by you being part of that community you end up really working on yourself and working on self-development and self-progression." We're not going to lie, today's question hit home for a lot of us here at Why Does My Partner HQ. We're sharing our stories of relationships where it was hard to let go as we respond to this listener, whose partner keeps breaking up with her and getting back together...now more than seven times. There's some big YOU-turns to be made in this story, and at the center of it all is the question, “What would happen if you said: ‘No, I don't want this?‘” Would there be grief that you've been avoiding? Fear of being alone? These answers could be "yes" for either person in this story. And it could also be that there's a process going on here, and in that back and forth, there's some kind of learning or repair going on. So, the YOU-Turn is also about realizing that if that's what's happening, and it doesn't feel okay for you, what's the cost of letting it continue?Quotes:Sometimes we're learning what love is as we go.A lot of who I was at that young age was who I was told to be.Clear is kind, and unclear is unkind. -Brené Brown Share your questions with us at whydoesmypartner.com/contactIf you want to dive in deeper, consider attending our upcoming workshops. “There's a lot of evil and hopelessness out in the world, but we don't have to experience that when we have each other and when we know Christ,” explains co-host Linda Hutchinson. Emotional wellness within a relationship is what keeps marriages healthy and strong year after year. In Parts 1 and 2 of their Summer of Love Series, co-hosts Merrill and Linda Hutchinson shared their Marriage Assessment tool for evaluating the quality of a marriage, breaking it down into four categories, emotional connectedness, spiritual connectedness, physical intimacy, and communication skills. Today, Merrill and Linda discuss emotional connectedness and provide five specific ways to reignite the spark, so you can both begin to dream again for the future you are building together.Emotional wellness is all about how you and your partner feel about each other. Think about how you felt about your spouse back when you were still dating. Do you still feel that same level of excitement now? Do you still dream for your future with them in mind? If you and your partner have lost some of this emotional connection, don't worry. You can start to rekindle emotional wellness through intentional communication and empathy. Check in on your partner's emotional state, making note of how they are doing, and doing what you can to lighten their load. Remember that when you decided to marry, two became one. Try to view situations from your partner's perspective. Fuel one another's hearts and the hope for the future you will share together will begin to flourish again. Consider whether your actions are helping or hurting your partner's heart. You both decided to commit your lives to one another and that means that you cannot be selfish with your behavior. Complete the linked Marriage Assessment to see where you and your partner stand on emotional connectedness and start taking steps today to reignite dreaming with one another. Quotes“Sometimes we have very unrealistic expectations and we really set our partner up for failure when we put them on a pedestal, when we expect them to complete us, and to give us something that really God is the one that's intended to give us, not our partner.” (8:26-8:45 | Linda)“Let's go about pursuing those dreams and seeking out that connection with your partner the right healthy way.” (10:27-10:33 | Linda)“Are you helping or hurting your partner's heart?” (18:07-18:09 | Linda)“When you committed your life to one another, you committed to share the load together.” (23:37-23:42 | Linda)“The key is empathy.” (24:14-24:15 | Merrill)“There's a lot of evil and hopelessness out in the world, but we don't have to experience that when we have each other and when we know Christ.” (25:55-26:02 | Linda)LinksSummer of Love Assessment: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZPpGt0BsmNwkaBsUSwoUBTsYtf4K4dDFqJJI1uDxoOs/edit?usp=sharingYouTube: https://youtu.be/ubpZ1AggkiU Podcast:https://www.buzzsprout.com/636718/13113598-rock-solid-families-podcast-summer-of-love-series-part-3-emotional-wellness-episode-245.mp3?download=trueWebsite | https://www.rocksolidfamilies.org/ Support the show

Episode 287 Should I Stay or Should I Go? When you've been in a job position, or really any position, long enough you will notice things that make that position grating on your nerves, or maybe it's even making you sick to some degree due to how you are treated in the workplace. Maybe these issues are simply perceptions you have or projections onto others of a much larger issue. Regardless it is your responsibility to be mindful of these actions and decide what will be best for you and fall in line with your values. In this reuploaded episode of 217, Sarah Elkins and Karen Elkins Cohen discuss stories from their careers on clients they've helped and what these people inadvertently taught them, and through these stories they hope that you too will gain something useful and helpful to your own life. Highlights It's okay to love your work but make sure that you are in touch with your own values and messages so you can decide if the work you're doing now should be continued in the same way. Keep your communications respectful regardless of if that respect is reciprocated Take accountability for your own actions, acknowledge and learn from your mistakes. Quotes “Sometimes we don't know that it's time to move on to a new opportunity, we may love the work we're doing or the organization we're doing it.” “If you find yourself continually late to work, ask yourself if you are dreading the work, the environment, your supervisor, or if there's a different reason.” “Anyone who has held a job has made a mistake at some point.” About Karen Karen is a Human Resources and Organization Development expert with more than 20 years of human resources experience. “We are batteries made out of water charged by sunlight,” explains Quantum Health Clinician and Educator, Laura Kissmann. Without exposure to natural light, the circadian rhythm that controls all the biological processes in the body will become misaligned. Although Laura now spends her time performing energy healing through quantum health practices such as red light therapy and access bars, she did not start out this way. Laura spent decades serving in the Canadian military as well as four years in an underground bunker surrounded by EMF while working for NORAD. In this episode, Laura shares her career and health history for a side by side analysis of what her environmental conditions were at the time each of her symptoms developed. Environmental conditions that are out of alignment with the body's biological needs are at the root of all disease. Although it would be decades before Laura understood the connection between her environment and her numerous physical symptoms, she began to put the pieces together much earlier that something about her lifestyle was negatively impacting her health. When Laura began her military career, she was a young, healthy athlete. Then came decades of being forced to wear shoes that caused her to develop plantar fasciitis, followed by spending twelve hours per day in an underground bunker under fluorescent lighting, surrounded by EMF signals. After the birth of her first child, Laura was sicker than ever, experiencing symptoms that turned out to be hyperthyroidism, leaky gut, intestinal parasites, and chemical sensitivity. Looking back through Laura's health history alongside her environmental conditions gives valuable insight into how circadian dysfunction caused her health to decline. When you take the time to analyze your physical and mental health symptoms through the lens of quantum biology, the immense impact of your environment on your health will become more and more clear. Be your own quantum health detective and see where your own environment may be misaligned with your body's natural biology. Quotes “Sometimes people can't fully get well, if they don't address the traumas, the mental emotional stuff.” (3:13-3:21 | Laura) “With Access Bars, at worst, it's a relaxing massage, and at best it changes your whole life.” (9:27-9:33 | Laura) “The environment that we put our body in and the type of exposure that our body receives in that environment is the absolute most critical thing.” (35:58-36:07 | Meredith) “Circadian rhythm controls every process in the body, and circadian rhythm is controlled by natural light.” (44:02-44:08 | Meredith) “You want to be synced with the sun. If you're not synced with the sun, it's going to lead to disease in the body.” (58:22-58:30 | Laura) “You can become diabetic from blue light.” (1:01:23-1:01:25 | Laura) Links Connect with Laura Kissmann: Website: https://laurakissmannwellness.com/ Instagram: @lkwellness To find a practitioner who understand the health principles of quantum biology: www.quantumbiologycollective.org To become a QBC member and get invites to live deep dives & access to our video library: www.quantumhealthtv.com To take our 8 week practitioner certification in the science of quantum biology so that you can add it to your existing area of expertise: www.appliedquantumbiology.com Follow on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook: @quantumhealthtv Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Doing Divorce Different A Podcast Guide to Doing Divorce Differently
Documentary filmmaker, Ellen Bruno, joins us for today's episode. Ellen focuses on ways that divorce impacts children and has produced two films, Split and SplitUp. Both films follow 12 children who were raised through a divorce and what the long-term effects were on their lives. She talks with us about what she wishes parents knew and how best to support children through difficult times. Ellen touches on the impacts of generational divorce as well. Tune in today to learn how to change the story so that your kids can have loving, healthy relationships in the future. In this episode: [02:29] What drove Ellen to create a documentary on divorced children? [05:52] Ellen shares the key things she learned while filming Split. [11:17] What Ellen believes kids want to hear differently through their divorce/growing up after divorce. [13:40] What happens to children in the long term when there are continuous conflicts between parents? [19:51] How does being a child of divorce affect children's outlook on love for themselves? [21:05] What information did Ellen find about generational divorce? Key Takeaways: Families with parents who were more cooperative and had less conflict, fared better long-term. Families with more conflict post-divorce, those children are still struggling long-term. Have the courage to listen to your children's concerns, hear their questions, and answer appropriately for their age with the needed information. Help them make sense of the situation. Confirm to them that the decision isn't because of them. Disengage from the toxic environment for both the parents and children. Put the anger and resentment aside and show up for the kids as much as possible. Choose joy and choose love as often as possible. Quotes: “Sometimes we think, oh divorce is something that happens within a discrete period of time, and then everyone moves on. Well actually, as we all know, divorce becomes part of the DNA of our family structure, part of the experience of our children, and that will be true when they are 40 as it is when they are 4.” - Ellen Bruno “I just want parents to have the courage and understand that opening up these conversations and allowing your children to ask questions is going to be one of the best things you can do for your kids. And it doesn't mean you have to answer every question, but everybody that goes through a difficult situation, whether its political refugees, prisoners, young sex workers, or kids from divorce, everybody needs to make sense of their experience in order to move forward. They need to make sense of their experience in order to move forward.” - Ellen Bruno Guest Bio: Ellen Bruno is an award-winning documentary filmmaker based in San Francisco. With a background in international relief work, Ellen's films have focused on issues at the forefront of human rights. She began her relief efforts in remote Mayan villages in Tabasco, Mexico. She has worked in refugee camps on the Thai-Cambodian border with the International Rescue Committee, in Vietnamese boat camps with The Refugee Section of the American Embassy in Thailand, and as director of the Cambodian Women's Project for the American Friends Service Committee. She has also been a hospice worker for the Zen Hospice Project in San Francisco. Ellen completed a master's degree in documentary film at Stanford University. She is a recipient of Guggenheim and Rockefeller Fellowships, a Goldie Award for Outstanding Artist, an Alpert Award for the Arts, an Anonymous Was A Woman Award for the Arts, a Shenkin Fellowship from Yale University School of Art, and was an Artist-in-Residence at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. In this week's episode, I'm discussing a topic many of you have asked me about. What do I do when I've reached the coveted seven figures? It's natural to reach plateaus in your business, whether seven figures or any goal you've set for yourself, where you realise that money isn't what fulfils you. You may be unsure what to do next and feel dissatisfied with aspects of your business. Now is the time to take advantage of this situation, and I have answers for you and also want to share a free PDF report for Women Consultants, The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Business. In this episode: [00:00] Jessica begins by sharing the goal of her business and how she works to empower women. [01:37] Does money fulfil you? [06:30] Jessica shares her innermost feelings about acceptance and finding that thing in life that satisfies. [11:46] Jessica suggests listening to your body and asking yourself questions when you find yourself asking, “What now?” [13:37] Pruning those aspects of the business you never enjoyed. [15:13] Take advantage of Jessica's free PDF report for women consultants, The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Business, in the resource notes. Key Takeaways: Don't be afraid to step back, get off the merry-go-round and take a break to analyse your business. What do you enjoy doing? What do you dislike? Money is nice. It buys nice things. But that money itself will never bring you fulfilment and joy. A good consultant leads you to make the decision you need to make. She doesn't tell you what to do or feel. Quotes: “Sometimes the journey of achieving things has been the search for meaning, the search for satisfaction that doesn't usually come from money and things.” Jessica Fearnley “Getting to seven figures and feeling you aren't sure what needs to happen next isn't a sign you've done something wrong. On the contrary, it's a great platform to stand on and determine what comes next.” Jessica Fearnley Useful Links Get in touch with Jessica to discuss your consulting business Jessica's LinkedIn Seven Figure Consultant Podcast The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Business - Free Download

While their discussion is centered around the real estate industry, they acknowledge that this can happen in any line of work. They each offer personal anecdotes and insights into recognizing when it's time to make a change and how to reignite passion and joy in work, and explore the idea of finding balance and setting boundaries to avoid burnout, highlighting the importance of taking a step back to reevaluate career choices. Our hosts also examine how real estate agents can build discipline to overcome the lack of motivation that can come with an unfulfilling job. They suggest finding hobbies or fitness programs that require regular discipline to help build the "discipline muscles" necessary to carry over into work. Additionally, they emphasize the importance of finding a bigger vision for one's life and career beyond just making money, such as helping others or investing in long-term passive income. By finding a greater purpose, individuals can achieve a greater sense of fulfillment in their work and overcome the monotony of doing the same thing every day. “If you feel like you're stuck in your communication, if you feel like you've got a barrier in front of you, if you feel like people have said that you can't do it or you're not that good, whatever it is, three components will get you from where you are to where you want to go,” shares Mike Acker, executive communication coach and author of 10 books, including bestsellers Speak With No Fear and Speak with Confidence. Today, Mike explains how speaking authentically can create executive presence. There can be many types of barriers to success. Some of these barriers may be external and less under your control, such as location or a speech impediment. However, if it is doubt in yourself or a victim mindset that is holding you back, improving your communication can help to remove those obstacles. In the end, poor communication reduces a person's executive presence. And a great leader who communicates poorly will be interpreted as a worse leader than someone who has fantastic communication and mediocre leadership skills. If you are unsure where to start, Miike shares three different aspects of communication seen in those with high executive presence. These are a basic awareness of your starting point, knowledge of what needs to be changed, and lots of practice to build confidence. Quotes “Sometimes it's the doubt that it's even possible. Sometimes it's a lack of desire. Sometimes it's this mindset of, well, not me, I couldn't do that. And it's this victim mentality, and sometimes it's the external obstacles.” (9:08-9:23 | Mike A.) “Your poor communication actually causes people to see you as less than what your leadership presence does.” (14:01-14:10 | Mike A.) “If you feel like you're stuck in your communication, if you feel like you've got a barrier in front of you, if you feel like people have said that you can't do it or you're not that good, whatever it is, three components will get you from where you are to where you want to go.” (30:06-30:20 | Mike A.) In this episode of the Enterprise Sales Development podcast, we speak with Sean King, a Senior SDR Leader with over a decade of experience in managing SDR teams of various sizes across a number of different companies. Sean shares what brought him into the sales development field and how dedication and passion are two of the best traits of an SDR. He also discusses the importance of collaboration when creating SDR programs and being open to feedback to grow as an SDR leader. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN The cycle of evaluating and reevaluating for success The value of attitude and daily perspective for SDRs Sean's non-negotiable sales tools for SDR teams QUOTES “Sometimes what you think is supposed to work and what you think is the norm and what you think works everywhere, it doesn't actually work that way. So it's good to take time, evaluate, reevaluate, and make changes when necessary, but also make changes quick.” -Sean King[09:47] “I would say it starts with attitude. I don't know how many people would agree with this, but attitude and how you wake up every single day is one of the most important things that you can manage. There are a lot of things that we can't manage, a lot of things that we can't control.” -Sean King [14:42] “When I think back on my time, one of my favorite leaders still to this day, he was giving me some of the most profound feedback in my career, just because it was always constructive, sometimes it was critical, and it was effective because I needed to hear it. That's how I developed. So receiving feedback is so crucial because that opens up a feedback loop moving forward with everything else.” -Sean King [27:50] “The way that SDRs are successful is by doing their job effectively and quickly, efficiently, and effectively. It should not take them 6 hours to accomplish certain tasks the best SDRs are able to do. They're working probably three to four hours a day and the rest of their day is in meetings or it's prospecting or it's doing some learning.” -Sean King [30:46] TIMESTAMPS 2:20 Sean's Career Journey 6:14 Workplace Wellness and the Transition to the Tech Industry 10:07 Data-Driven Decision Making 17:08 Attitude and Interviewing for Attitude 23:31 Setting Up an SDR/BDR Program 30:31 Evaluating Tools for Effective SDR Outreach 34:56 Navigating Layoffs in the Tech Space 40:28 “A Great Athlete Doesn't Get Tired" CONNECT Sean King on LinkedIn CIENCE on LinkedIn CIENCE on Facebook CIENCE on Twitter CIENCE on Instagram Learn more about your ad choices. Today, Cait shares a podcast recommendation, an episode of Wellness While Walking Podcast, hosted by her friend Carolyn Cohen. Carolyn is a health coach that has designed her podcast as a way to inspire people to take the next step of their health journey. These episodes are 30 minutes long and are made to be listened to while taking a walk. There is even a handy beep at the halfway point in the episode to remind you to turn back around on your route. So, bundle up, put on some headphones, and take a stroll while learning wellness tips. It may sound strange to think about wanting to increase stress, but there actually is good stress that can result in physical and mental health benefits. In the same way that too much of a good thing is bad and too much of a bad thing is still bad, there is a sweet spot somewhere in the middle for everything. People need a certain level of hormetic stressors to thrive. Hormetic stressors are intermittent stressors of a certain duration and strength that can have systemic benefits. Some examples of ways to increase hormetic stressors are through temperature like hot and cold therapies, intermittent fasting, and high intensity interval training. By increasing hormetic stress, you can have increased energy, improved health, and even slow the aging process. Stress is not always a bad thing. Tune into today's episode of FRIED. The Burnout Podcast for an exciting podcast recommendation from Cait. Listen to hear an episode of Wellness While Walking Podcast hosted by Carolyn Cohen and learn about the ways certain stressors can actually be beneficial to your overall wellness. Quotes • “Sometimes we need to stress our systems for growth. And I'm not just talking about stress as we think of it, I'm talking about things like when we eat, what we eat, how we move, and other daily activities in our day. So tweaking them might give us more energy, improved health, and even could help slow aging.” (2:16-2:36 | Carolyn) • “The fact that adversity can be good is also a concept that rings true within health.” (7:37-7:42 | Carolyn) • “Stressing ourselves in one way likely has benefits across all our systems. So we can find the one thing that works for us and our health situation and our lifestyle and then it can often have systemic benefits.” (24:16-24:27 | Carolyn) • “Biologically, the lack of acute stressors prevents the intermittent episodes of cellular “housecleaning” activities that slow aging. So we just have to keep in mind that taken to either extreme, the stressors are problematic, and so we need to be careful if we pursue any of these hormetic activities.” (25:29-25:48 | Carolyn) • “What I've always wanted to share here on the show is the question of nuance, just because a bit of something might be beneficial doesn't mean a whole lot better. And similarly, just because something is poison, or detrimental and extreme doesn't mean that the other extreme, there's none of this is optimal, either. There's nuance, there's dose to be considered. And sometimes that's not what we get from the headlines.” (27:00-27:22 | Carolyn) Links Connect with Carolyn Cohen, Host of the Wellness While Walking Podcast https://wellnesswhilewalking.com/ XOXO, C If you know that it's time to actually DO something about the burnout cycle you've been in for too long - book your free consult today: bit.ly/callcait https://friedtheburnoutpodcast.com/quiz Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
