Tyler Bushnell is the Founder & CEO of Polycade ( https://polycade.com/ ) the only arcade machine that's been designed for classic and modern games, giving you the ability to play everything from the best new indies, retro classics, or the most graphics-intensive modern fighters. About Polycade (From Tyler) I grew up surrounded by gaming in a way that most kids could never dream of experiencing. My dad invented Atari and started Chuck E Cheese. I know. I still can't believe how crazy that is. From a young age, I was lucky enough to witness the power of gaming as a means of social bonding. My seven brothers and I were enveloped by games; we lived and breathed them. We built community around playing games together in person. It was this unique upbringing that allowed me to notice the massive market opportunity for gaming in today's world. Internet connectivity is changing the way we interact with one another. We're spending more time communicating virtually, we're losing face-to-face social connectedness, and we're becoming socially isolated. At the same time, modern video games are pushing players toward solitary gaming. The low-commitment experience that once made video gaming accessible and so popular in out of home environments has largely disappeared. We know that being around others builds trust and friendship, that face-to-face connection brings happiness, that replacing your real-world relationships with social media use is detrimental to your health. We know we need to spend more time out of our homes, off our phones, and be more in the moment. So why isn't technology working harder to connect people in real life and build communities that affect our well-being for the better? As children of Nolan Bushnell, my siblings and I were often reminded of the power of gaming to bring people together. We heard it in the stories of 100s of people who told my dad that they had met their significant other over a game of Pong and thanked him for his part in making that happen. We saw it with our own eyes. We recognize that we have an opportunity to provide the perfect catalyst for interaction. So we set out on a mission to make gaming social: getting people out of their houses, making new friends, and building community. Oh, and having some fun along the way too. We created Polycade. He's a Creative Director at the agency's San Francisco studio, with a portfolio of award-winning work across a diverse range of clients like Coca-Cola, Google, Metallica, Little Caesars, and, most recently, McDonald's. In his spare time, he's probably reading too many comic books, telling one too many bad jokes, and/or playing too many video games. Check out some of the brand visuals from the rebrand below. Here's what we covered on the episode: How Tyler and I connected when his team reached out and asked if I'd be interested in having him on the podcast to discuss the McDonald's visual identity rebrand During high school, Tyler spent time with his art teacher who suggested graphic design as a career path and told him about the University of Cincinnati which she thought would be a good fit for him Tyler enrolled in the graphic design program at the University of Cincinnati, College of DAAP and completed an internship with Turner Duckworth to gain real world experience How Tyler did two rounds of internships with Turner Duckworth and was offered a job before he graduated Tyler shared what it was like to intern at Turner Duckworth, and shared how they're really treated like junior designers who create creative concepts for internal critiques, who also perform some studio maintenance The benefits of being an intern and getting to learn from a wide variety of people that you can build your knowledge from versus working with one small group of people Tyler shares the story of his move to San Francisco and how he started out as a junior designer with Turner Duckworth doing quick turn around tasks for Coca-Cola and Sprite How being in the right place at the right time and performing your best in those moments can set you apart from others and why you should speak up and look for opportunities yourself as well Tyler shares that doing the work is easy, but presenting it to others and explaining why it's the right work is the hard part The story of how Turner Duckworth first engaged with McDonalds in late 2017 / early 2018 and how they launched the visual brand identity to their system in September 2018 How Tyler led the global refresh for Little Caesars and how Turner Duckworth has worked on many other Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) brands Tyler walks us through some of the biggest visual elements that changed through the McDonald's rebrand How Turner Duckworth was able to introduce the first ever global brand font for McDonald's which made their everyday messaging more approachable Tyler explains that with a rebrand like McDonald's, the goal is update all areas, but some things take longer than others, like updating architectural fixtures and physical elements How the creative team at Turner Duckworth thought about what could make the biggest impact for McDonald's rebrand and started with changing social media icons, content and digital applications Working on the McDonald's rebrand involved a large creative team, Tyler, Turner Duckworth's CCO, production and implementation teams, as well as account management communicating with the client to make everything is on track Why making a functional system that others can use, be inspired by, and be creative with is the goal of Turner Duckworth How at the start of the McDonald's project they met bi-weekly and took on the master brand and how they now have daily interactions and have branched to sub brands like, McCafé and Happy Meal Tyler shares that the McDonald's brand exists in 120 countries and in 30,000+ restaurants, all of which required different levels of transformation during this project Tyler's advice for projects is to stay on course as best as possible and remember your main goals but understand that the relationship between client and agency and how a project develops is not a straight line How to be okay with the fact that when you have reached a plan, your client might disagree and you'll need to compromise to make it the best it can be Tyler's job as creative director is to ensure the work they're doing has a life beyond today and tomorrow Tyler discusses what it's like to lead a team and shares that it's fun because he gets to work with a broad range of people with different levels of knowledge How it's important to reach out and make connections with people and agencies whether reaching out is in your comfort zone or not because it shows initiative Why learning as much as you can, gaining real life experience, showing your passionate and showing empathy is important as a designer Tyler shares something that was said in many McDonald's meetings, which is, “progress over perfection” and explains how many young designers get suck and need to be okay with not always getting it 100% right How design is becoming more accessible which is raising the baseline quality, making it harder to stand out and why Tyler says that's a good thing Connect with Tyler on LinkedIn Creative Credits for Images above: Agency: Turner Duckworth, San Francisco Tyler Noyes and Brett Johnston are the Co-Founders of Kalahari Snacks. The company was started after an adventure of a lifetime in South Africa after an encounter with biltong, an indigenous dried meat snack—and no, it’s not jerky. Tyler and Brett realized that the simplicity of the ingredients and the tenderness of the product would be a total game-changer for US consumers. So, they embarked on their mission to bring a centuries-old South African tradition to family, friends, and the rest of the country with one delicious piece of biltong at a time. Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn: The difference between biltong and jerky How Tyler and Brett got to know each other and how the idea for a biltong business came about How the business partners found a co-manufacturer for their product and how they started selling What is biltong—and is it a replacement for jerky? How Tyler and Brett worked out their responsibilities for the company Brett and Tyler talk about their new product, Kalahari beef crisps, and how they have been marketing the snack How Kalahari Snacks has been handling demos and sales during the coronavirus pandemic What businesses need to consider when deciding on an exit strategy How Brett and Tyler got funding for their company Tyler and Brett's advice to fellow entrepreneurs on handling business challenges Where to find more information on Kalahari Snacks In this episode… During an adventure in South Africa, Tyler and his friend Brett tried biltong, a dried, cured meat similar to beef jerky, and were immediately hooked. They loved it more once they learned that the snack was made of six simple ingredients that they could easily find to make their own biltong. This realization sparked a business idea for Tyler and Brett: produce the beef snack and market it in the US. The air-dried, thinly sliced pieces of beef contain protein but no sugar, carbs, or soy. Factor in the flavor, and you’ve officially found the perfect meat snacks. Tyler Noyes and Brett Johnston, Co-Founders of Kalahari Snacks, are Steve Cleere's guests in this week's episode of NexxtLevel Podcast. Together, they talk about biltong and their entrepreneurial journey, the differences between biltong and jerky, and how they share the responsibility of running Kalahari Snacks, the company they created. The value of this podcast comes directly from the amazing guests I am able to speak with on a weekly basis. Today’s guest is not only a seasoned vet on the road, track and trail but is also a CEO of a coaching company known as Chaski Endurance Collective. What made the sit down with Tyler Andrews so enjoyable is that he has range when it comes to speaking from the perspective of both an athlete and coach. Tyler’s journey is unique because he did not excel like most world class athletes do early on in their career, particularly in high school. In high school he was an 18:30 5,000 meter runner as a senior. However, as Tyler continued to consistently put in the work he found greater success at Tufts University as he made NCAA D3 Nationals twice as an individual. After graduating with a mechanical engineering degree, Tyler took an opportunity to continue chasing his running goals and moved to Ecuador. While living there, he became exactly what he believed he could become through countless miles and hours of dedication to his craft. RTG Community welcomes Tyler Andrew’s. Please join us as we discuss his journey throughout the running world. In this episode we discuss How he got into running and why he continues to run Tyler’s biggest hindrance throughout the training process How Tyler continued to improve mentally The power of documenting your journey and logging your runs Why it's important to have difficult conversations with yourself How tough it is to actively emotionally and mentally recover from races Educational Piece In past episodes we have had a segment of the podcast dedicated to speaking on a particular topic that I believe everyone can benefit from hearing. In this particular topic we discuss the importance of online coaching and the benefits you can reap by hiring an ELITE athlete as a personal coach. About the Episode On this episode, I'm joined by top-producing agent turned successful tech entrepreneur, Tyler Smith; whose story and journey is inspiring because it proves that real estate can be a launching pad for successful businesses and products. In Tyler's case, real estate wasn't just a launching pad. His platform, SkySlope was actually born out of him making his real estate operations more efficient. He turned real estate transaction pain points into a solution, which became the foundation of his new business. Tyler's business stands at the intersection between real estate operations, understanding consumer behavior and technology; making him a great person to talk to about the changes and shifts coming down the pipeline in our industry. Tyler is the founder and CEO of SkySlope, a B2B SaaS platform that is focused on helping real estate agents manage their transactions online. He is a former top-producing Realtor who realized efficient transaction management software was lacking in real estate. SkySlope is the industry leading Digital Transaction Management software provider, offering a powerful suite of mobile, cloud and paperless transaction processing solutions. SkySlope is proud to serve more than 25% of the top 100 brokerages in the U.S., including almost half of the top 25 brokerages. The consumer is in the driver's seat of the shifts we're seeing in the real estate, and at the core of that is a need for transparency, speed, and working with experts and practitioners they can trust before, during and beyond the transaction. If we're not leading with these 3 things in our communications and operations, we won't be able to measure up to the new standard the consumers have set. Platforms like Uber have successfully fed into the needs of the consumer, and so have iBuyers. As an industry, we need to be willing to do the same, or else we will get swept away. In Today's Episode, We Talk About; - Tyler's journey starting in real estate at 20 - Why Tyler left real estate even though he was at the top of his game to start SkySlope. - How Tyler identified a solid business idea. - The transition from top-producing real estate agent to running a tech company. - How Tyler sees our industry changing in the future. - The 3 things about consumer behavior we need to be building into our businesses. - Tyler's top tips for having a better life and business. In 2014, Tyler Jack Harris found himself at rock bottom. After a failed marriage and failed business, he found himself broke and alone. Worst of all, he was playing the victim, ruled by fear. So what changed? In a word- EVERYTHING. Tyler began a process he calls “waging war on personal change”, which started with taking ownership. He realized that he was exactly where he was supposed to be because of the actions and decisions he had made. He began attacking personal development, as he knew he would have to transform from the inside out. Some mentors came into his life around that time and gave him an opportunity to join their agency and sell life insurance. He put his head down and went to work. Over the next 3.5 years, Tyler sold over 8,000 life insurance policies, one on one, face to face. He spent over 200 nights per year in a hotel, working 16, 18, 20 hour days. Going from being completely broke to a millionaire in such a short time is where most rags to riches stories end. Tyler felt such a responsibility to pay it forward, for the blessings he had received and for having those mentors come into his life. He began documenting his life on social media in 2017, to be a light in a dark world and breathe life into others as his mentors had done for him. As with everything, Tyler went all in. He created two podcasts, a daily vlog and a weekly vlog, and created a motivational brand. He reached a weekly high reach of over 49 million people last year. With a videographer traveling with him 24/7 documenting every move, Tyler hopes to impact the lives of millions and never ask for anything in return. In this episode we dive into: Tyler's struggle with a failed marriage, failed business, all time low self esteem, and the 2 year rut this put him in where he played the victim. How Tyler went from using life's obstacles as excuses to going all in on his dreams and ultimately owning 2 separate multi-million dollar companies. Why our safety nets are the biggest barriers keeping us from stepping out and accomplishing greatness. Putting yourself into the position of “having to make it work” vs. “trying it out” and how to create this sense of urgency for yourself. Why the perfect opportunities in life never come when you are failing at the opportunities that you have, but rather when you are excelling at them. Tyler's focus on the ROI of impact rather than the dollar revenue coming in, honing in on the people being reached and the importance of every follower that comes across the message he is spreading. Tyler's belief that every successful person has a moment when they shift their motivations from their head to their heart, finally allowing them to live their lives at their full potential. “LIFE Goals”, the 90 day goal system that Tyler and his business partners have put into place for their employees to keep accountability and create growth. How Tyler was able to make the move from being on the road 200+ days a year, to being able to work from home and spend more time with his family. How Tyler's daughter has helped change the lens through which Tyler sees the world, and why he has been inspired by her to document his words. The importance of mentors, always seeking to learn from those with more experience, or helping those who can benefit from your knowledge. Why not documenting his rock bottom is Tyler's biggest regret. The living legacy that we should all be working on leaving behind for future generations. www.brenttieri.com www.tylerjackharris.com

In this week’s episode of the Exposure Ninja Digital Marketing Podcast, Tim is joined by Tyler Jack Harris, owner of two multi-million-dollar life insurance companies and the man behind the My Living Legacy vlog and the Sales Wolves podcast. Tyler’s story is pretty amazing and his business growth and success is directly linked to personal branding and a process he calls “scale impact”. According to Wikipedia, Personal Branding is “essentially the ongoing process of establishing a prescribed image or impression in the mind of others about an individual, group, or organisation”, but Tyler takes this one step further and looks at personal branding as a way to create a legacy — not only in terms of your business impact but in terms of having an impact on the world around you as well. What can you expect to learn from this podcast episode? If you’re thinking about pushing your own personal brand or someone in your business is thinking about doing it, there is SO much to take away from this episode! From the practical content strategies and planning side of things to overcoming the fear of putting yourself out there and keeping that doubting inner voice in check, Tyler has so much knowledge to share on this subject, plus he’s just a genuinely nice guy with a lot to offer! Here are some of the things we cover in this episode: How Tyler has used his personal brand to build his company, and why it’s not just about chasing fame! How to overcome limiting beliefs and muster the courage to put yourself out there (in spite of the haters!) How to decide how much resource to put behind your personal brand How to manage building your personal brand with other aspects of your business and personal life Delusion vs Persistence: How to know if you need to change angle vs just keep pushing on Spend: How to decide how much budget to put behind building your audience Strategy: How much do you need to strategise and plan vs freewheel it? Do you need to have a very specific audience profile in mind or do you believe more in just being yourself and seeing what comes out? Huge thanks to Tyler for joining us on the show. It’s an honor to interview such a wide array of people and I love it when past guests connect me with other amazingly successful entrepreneurs. I was recently introduced to today’s guest, Tyler Gage and am blown away by his journey. Northern Californian-raised, at age 19 Tyler began studying native plants and languages with indigenous elders in the Amazon rainforest. Not long after, he witnessed these people tearing down trees in order to send their children to school. Taken aback by this, soon after set out to find a more sustainable way for people of the Amazon to provide for their families without sacrificing their ecosystem. Tune in to hear all about the company Tyler founded to do just that and the parallels he’s discovered between the Amazon and running a business/being an entrepreneur. He also touches on what it means to be a “fair trade and/or B-Corp. This is such an eye-opening and enlightening conversation – and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it! -- Question Highlights: What’s one of your favorite books? What’s one of your superpowers? What’s the last thing that kept you up at night? Who is someone who’s changed your life? How did you end up living with an indigenous tribe in the Amazon? What are some of the parallels between surviving in the Amazon rainforest and start-ups and being an entrepreneur? Have you built time into your day to put toward your subconscious practice? When we last left Project 7 founder Tyler Merrick, a few missteps and some bad luck had put Project 7 in a bad spot. As in, “this might kill the business” bad spot. Rather than give up, Tyler asked himself, "If we were to take one more shot at it, what would that look like?" The rest is CPG history. Tyler killed all product categories except one, and doubled down on an old strategy from his days in pet food. And it paid off. Tyler and Project 7 disrupted a declining category and pulled of the impossible, becoming the top selling gum at major retailers like Target. Most importantly, Tyler and his team have been able to make a huge impact in the 7 areas of need that inspired Project 7 in the first place. Takeaways & Recap: If you really want to make a difference, lead with product and brand. It doesn’t matter how great your cause marketing is or how charitable your customer. At the end of the day, features and benefits drive consumer behavior. You need a thriving business before you can give back. Hire smart. Not sure whether or not make that next hire? Only pull the trigger if you’re confident the revenue they bring in will be 2.5x their salary. Let your sales numbers tell a story. Start with the buyers who are on board with your concept in order to provide proof of concept - show some momentum and you'll have a nice little velocity story to bring to the more skeptical buyers. Practice Radical Responsibility. Tyler had to make some hard choices, and he maintained his credibility as a leader by shouldering some of the blame. Innovate inside the box. Real Estate Mogul Podcast - Learn How To Leverage Investing Strategies in Your Real Estate Business
Most people who don’t want to do the hard work of investing deals are happy to partner with someone who has the experience. How do you find these people and get them to work with you? How do you go about finding and acquiring deals that will yield good returns? How do you get more capital to deploy out to other deals? On this episode, Tyler Sheff shares his strategies and tactics for getting the right deals and building a solid investing business. There are more people out there with money to invest without the skills to do it, than deals to be had. - Tyler Sheff Takeaways Assess the needs of the person in front of you rather than applying a general rule to everyone. If you want really good cash flow, you can’t buy in the posh areas. Find a state that has favorable landlord laws so you don’t end up having a hard time with difficult tenants. At the start of the show, Tyler shared how he is able to raise capital privately and find the people that have the money to invest. Next, we talked about how Tyler is able to generate deals from his podcast and from helping people solve their problems. Towards the end of the show, we talked about why you can leverage real estate so much better than the stock market. We also discussed How Tyler goes about acquiring deals How much time you should dedicate to finding capital When the market correction will happen and preparing for it You will often find yourself in one of two markets: one where it’s tough to get really good cash flow but you get appreciation, or a flat, steady market where you can get good cash flow but no appreciation. You can make money in each market, but it will vary. Tyler has managed to get business in both, which helps to cover his bases. If you’re able to raise capital privately to fund the deals and remodel without using your own money, you can get a good return and make enough to continue deploying the cash flow into more deals. Building wealth in real estate can be simple if you go about it the right way. Guest Bio Tyler Sheff currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at cashflowguys.com, a company which aims to educate their clientele in investing in real estate and building long-term wealth. After over a decade of eating a ketogenic diet, and having lost 295 pounds, he has helped to move the Ketogains community forward as one of the most successful communities of contextualized thought on the use of a ketogenic diet and the applications for fat loss, sports performance, and how to help people transform their lives. If you’ve been listening to the podcast for a while, then surely you’ll remember Tyler Sharp. He’s the creative director, photographer, and writer who has explored everywhere from east Africa to Montana’s Paradise Valley and has the stories and images to prove it. He currently works with some of the biggest brands in the outdoor industry, such as Filson and Yeti, helping them to tell authentic and engaging stories. Tyler’s first podcast episode has been one of my most popular—we went deep, covering everything from big-game hunting to kung fu to conservation—so I wanted to have him back to continue the conversation and discuss his latest project, Modern Huntsman. • Modern Huntsman is a biannual publication and online forum for conservationists, creatives, and outdoor enthusiasts. If you enjoy this podcast and my guests’ depth of thinking on topics related to the natural world, then you’re going to love Modern Huntsman. Through thoughtful writing, captivating photography, and elegant design, Tyler and his all-star team intend to improve the perception of hunting in our society by highlighting its thoughtful and conservation-focused aspects, which are often ignored by established media. • I like to hunt, although I’m not obsessed with it like I am with endurance sports. But my work in conservation and deep reading of natural history have given me a firsthand appreciation for the importance of hunting, and the vital role it plays in conserving landscapes and species around the world. Without the efforts of visionary hunters like Theodore Roosevelt, the healthy wildlife populations we enjoy here in the American West would be a mere fraction of what they are today, if they existed at all. Thanks to their deep respect for wildlife born from their love of the sport of hunting, TR and his contemporaries set in motion a conservation ethic that continues to grow and evolve. Now, over 100 years later, Modern Huntsman will carry that ethic forward. • Once again, Tyler and I had a wonderful conversation, and I was incredibly impressed with his ability to discuss complex, sometimes emotionally charged issues in a respectful, intelligent, and non-arrogant tone. Of course we discussed the details of Modern Huntsman, its origins, and why there is a need for such a publication. We chatted about Modern Huntsman’s current Kickstarter campaign, which I highly recommend you support—links are in the notes. We also talked in depth about some of the misconceptions around hunting and specifics about why hunting is so important for conservation throughout the world. And just like last time, Tyler had some excellent book recommendations. • This was a fun and enlightening conversation, so I hope you enjoy. Check out the episode notes for links to everything, and be sure the check out the Modern Huntsman Kickstarter page, watch the film, and support the project. ••• http://www.bit.ly/modernhuntsman http://mountainandprairie.com/tyler-sharp-2/ ••• TOPICS DISCUSSED 3:30 - How Tyler describes his work 6:10 - Modern Huntsman overview 8:40 - Improving hunting’s image 10:00 - Modern Huntsman as “new media” 12:00 - Tyler’s relationship with Simon Roosevelt 14:30 - Modern Huntsman’s target audience 16:30 - Misunderstandings surrounding hunting 20:30 - Modern Huntsman’s strategy for telling the correct story 22:00 - importance of having a woman’s perspective 23:20 - Engaging with non-hunters 26:15 - Esthetics of the magazine 31:00 - List of the editors and contributors 34:50 - History of hunting and conservation 39:00 - Tools for connecting conservation and hunting 43:00 - How safari companies contribute to conservation in Africa 47:50 - The Kickstarter film 50:15 - Tyler’s favorite hunting books 58:10 - Best advice Tyler’s ever received 59:30 - Connect with Modern Huntsman online

What is stopping you from achieving financial freedom through apartment building investing? Is it because you don't have single-family experience? Are you intimidated by the perceived complexity of the multi-family space? Or maybe you think you don't have enough money to consider pursuing multi-family deals? Today's guest has encountered and overcome all of these limiting beliefs, and today he reveals how to get out of your own way and get on the road to financial freedom. Tyler Sheff is the founder of CashFlowGuys.com and the host of the Cash Flow Guys Podcast. He was making six figures as a merchant mariner when he and his wife took a hard look at their future. In just 11 months, Tyler had replaced his income. At that point, he had invested in 26 units in Florida and Tennessee – using none of his own money. Now he leverages his 17 years of experience to demystify the real estate investing space, encouraging others to focus on cashflow and take massive action toward their goals. Today, Tyler shares his journey, explaining how he landed his first few multi-family deals, why single-family experience is unnecessary in the apartment building space, and how he employs relationship marketing to raise capital. Tyler Sharp is an adventurer, sportsman, conservationist, and world traveler with a gift for telling stories through images and words. While he may be best known for his photography focusing on Americana and Western lifestyle, travel, and adventure, Tyler has built a substantial resume that includes filmmaking, directing, writing, and creative strategy. His work has taken him to some of the most spectacular and far-flung regions of the globe, with an emphasis on East Africa, Montana, and his home state of Texas. • As a devoted hunter and fisherman, Tyler has chased game in some of the world’s wildest regions, giving him a global perspective on the importance of natural resources, game management, and sustainable hunting practices. As you’ll hear in our conversation, Tyler has thought deeply about the practical and ethical implications of hunting and fishing both abroad and here in the American West. His sincere devotion to conservation and adventure shines through in his work and has made him the go-to photographer for iconic brands such as Filson, Cabelas, and Stetson, to name a few. • Tyler and I met up in Estes Park, Colorado, just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park, for a fun conversation that could have gone on for hours. We discussed his beginnings as a professional photographer, which began in earnest when he moved to East Africa just out of college—he’s got some intense stories from his travels that include run-ins with lions and leopards. We covered his thoughts on conservation, and how his time traveling abroad has given him a clearer understanding of conservation issues facing the American West. Then the conversation took an unexpected but interesting turn when we chatted about his commitment to Kung Fu (yes, Kung Fu!), meditation, and eastern philosophy. • Be sure to check out the episode notes for the full list of topics covered, because we touch on a lot. This is a wide-ranging conversation that takes many surprising twists and turns.
