The evolution of family transport has come a long way from the wood-paneled station wagons of yesteryear. We take the wheel of two distinctly different approaches to modern family hauling with the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and the 2025 Infiniti QX60.The Tucson Hybrid Limited AWD immediately stands out with its angular wheel well flares and distinctive styling that breaks from conventional SUV design. Built in Korea, this compact hybrid combines a 1.6-liter gas engine with electric power for 268 combined horsepower while achieving an impressive 35 MPG. Perhaps most appealing for urban families is the ability to travel up to 30 miles on electric power alone—perfect for school runs, grocery trips, and daily errands without burning a drop of fuel.Taking a more luxury-oriented approach, the Tennessee-assembled Infiniti QX60 delivers a premium three-row experience with our Luxe AWD test vehicle featuring the striking Black Edition package. The sophisticated interior includes leather seating, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, and thoughtful touches like window shades in the second-row doors. Powered by a 2.0-liter turbo generating 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque, the QX60 balances comfort with capability, including a 6,000-pound towing capacity when properly equipped. We also take a nostalgic journey through station wagon culture, remembering those rear-facing third seats, manual windows, and family road trips without digital entertainment. Whether you're shopping for a family SUV or just curious about how today's vehicles compare to the classics, this episode offers valuable insights and honest assessments of two compelling options in today's market. Formerly the Infiniti JX, the QX60 sits below the company's flagship body-on-frame SUV but gives shoppers the ever-important three-row option. Entering its second generation in 2022, the QX60 launched with the venerable 3.5-liter V6, or VQ35 in Nissan's engine lingo. However, for 2025 Infiniti is moving its three-row people mover away from one of its staple powertrains and is moving it toward the brand's future. Under the hood of every 2025 Infiniti QX60 is the company's 2.0-liter, variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder. The variable compression engine made its debut in the 2019 QX50 but has finally made its way into the company's larger QX60. This engine sends 268 hp and 286 lb-ft of torque through a nine-speed transmission. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek executive editor Tom Murphy hops behind the wheel of the 2025 Infiniti QX60 and puts it through its paces. Murphy takes you on a guided tour of the QX60 and highlights some of his favorite features before taking you on a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Murphy chats with host Wesley Wren about the QX60, Infiniti as a whole, and the three-row crossover space. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2025 Infiniti QX60 special.

Welcome to the New Year with the Unnamed Automotive Podcast! As we enter 2024, the guys have plenty to talk about starting with a paid of luxury three-row crossovers. Benjamin starts things off with his test drive of the 2024 BMW X7 M60i, which is loaded with a twin-turbo V8 and three-rows of luxurious seating. Who could've guessed this thing could do 0-60 in under 4 seconds? Beyond that little tidbit, Benjamin had plenty of frustrations about the Bimmer, but does that detract from the overall experience? Then Sami chimes in about his time with the 2024 Infiniti QX60, another high-end three-row crossover. However, Sami has some concerns with the Infiniti which shares a lot with the Nissan Pathfinder, including its powertrain, platform and many of its features. Is the Infiniti badge worth $20K? What's with the one-way power folding third row? And the old-school infotainment screen? Is this really the best the Japanese automaker can do? After hearing Sami's gripes, be sure to send the guys some love on Ko-Fi, or drop them a message on Unnamed Automotive Podcast website or social accounts. Thanks for listening!
The 2024 Lexus TX three-row crossover might prompt some luxury SUV buyers to wonder why Lexus hasn't had a vehicle like it before. The good news is Lexus has it now, and it promises to be a strong competitor to other three-row luxury crossovers like the Acura MDX. Host Jack Nerad had the opportunity to test the vehicle at its American launch outside Austin, Texas, and he came away impressed. Its spacious interior, up-to-the-minute technology tech, and multiple powertrains give the TX all it needs to compete in its very competitive segment. The Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, and Infiniti QX60 each have their strong points, but the Lexus TX seems to have encapsulated the factors that luxury crossover buyers want most. Smooth-riding and extremely quiet, the 2024 TX might not outrun some of its rivals on the racetrack, but it does deliver the space and comfort buyers demand. The TX also offers a fascinating selection of powertrains — a turbocharged four-cylinder, a hybrid that combines a turbocharged four-cylinder with electric motors, and a plug-in hybrid that teams a V6 with electric motors. Add four-wheel-steer in some trims, and you have a technological tour de force. In our other road test, Co-Host Chris Teague took the wheel of the scintillating BMW M2. Small, agile, and supremely powerful, the M2 proved to be a more than willing partner as Teague tore his way across southern Maine. In this episode, he'll have a full report. In the news this week, Honda is bringing back the popular Civic Hybrid compact sedan, and it promises to be better than ever. Honda was long a hybrid skeptic, but in the past couple of years, it has changed its tune and now embraces hybrid technology. Its Accord and CR-V hybrid models are bestsellers in the brand, so you can see why Honda execs are bullish on the Civic Hybrid. Some major carmakers are far less bullish about the prospects for battery-electric vehicles. Spurred by federal, state, and local regulations, most automakers have invested billions in electric vehicle tech. Not only have they introduced scores of new EVs, but they have even more waiting in the wings. Now, though, they are facing the reality of the market, and the prospects are less than encouraging. We'll give you our take on this conundrum in this episode. Kia is an example of a carmaker that has swallowed the EV Kool-Aid. The Korean brand has just introduced a trio of lower-cost electric vehicles in Asia as it tries to reach its goal of selling one million EVs by 2026. We'll tell you if we can expect to see any of them in the U.S. soon. Our special guests this week have a fascinating new concept that can provide peace of mind to the millions of Americans who buy vehicles from private parties each year. Ed Brojerdi and Craig Nehamen are co-founders and co-CEOs of Caramel, a company they designed to relieve the many pain points of buying a car from an individual. From dealing with the Department of Motor Vehicles to offering service contracts, Caramel can help private buyers and sellers make beautiful music together … or at the very least, complete car transactions hassle-free. Please tune in for their conversation with host Jack Nerad. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, YourTestDriver.com, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

The 2023 Jeep Compass has undergone an engine transplant for the new model year, and the transformation is nothing short of amazing. The substitution of a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for the previous normally aspirated 2.4-liter four has markedly brightened the Compass's all-around performance. Host Jack Nerad was one of the first journalists to drive the renewed small SUV in the hills above Malibu, California, and to say he was impressed is putting it mildly. After long stints of challenging on-road and off-round driving, he came away with a new respect for the small SUV. He'll tell you much more as the show unfolds. Our special guest this week is Bob Welby, senior director, Infiniti USA Operations. Host Jack Nerad not only had a chance to talk with him at length about the future of the luxury brand, but then he and Welby drove together at the Infiniti Winter Driving Event in Big Sky, Montana. The unique event gave them the chance to put the luxurious Infiniti QX60 three-row SUV through its paces on glare ice, packed snow, and wet pavement. Oh, and the temperature the whole time hovered at about -10 degrees Fahrenheit, so the pavement wasn't wet for long. What do women want? Well, we can't tell you everything they want, but we can tell you which car brands they like. And we have a good handle on which ones they don't, too. Details and our thoughts on all the ramifications of that story coming up. Also in the news this week, Volkswagen is getting blowback after its top executive in China asserted that the company doesn't use forced labor in a plant it shares with Chinese automaker SAIC. Many human rights groups claim he's wrong, and the result is yet another VW controversy. We'll have more on that coming up. There is good news for people with bipolar disorder as lithium prices plunge on the world market. Why is the price of the critical commodity going down? A giant Chinese auto battery supplier is turning to different materials, and Chinese consumers are starting to turn away from electric vehicles. Those are two key reasons. We'll have the details on that coming up. In the road test segment, Co-Host Chris Teague examines a vehicle whose name is longer than some roads. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate could be the most luxurious pickup truck we have ever driven at “America on the Road.” If Cadillac made a pickup, it would likely be very much like this one, and we'll have more thoughts for you coming up. Host Jack R. Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, is a suspense thriller that will keep you guessing until the final pages. It is available in paperback and Kindle right now at Amazon.com.

Is Buick Enclave the hidden gem of the large 3-row SUV world? With a resume that includes simple controls, a comfortable ride, and a responsive non-turbo powertrain, there's a case to be made that it deserves serious consideration. We discuss the recent updates to its steering wheel controls, gear selector, and infotainment system for the 2022 model year, and how it performs against competitors like the Infiniti QX60, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Acura MDX, and Hyundai Palisade. Also, what happens when you try to turn off a vehicle while driving? Does it make a difference if it's a traditional key, or a push button start? What a week! Chris and Charlie have so many cool cars here at DM HQ, and we drove even more cool cars at the Midwest Automotive Media Association Spring Rally in Elkhart Lake, WI! We got track time in the Cadillac CT5 V Blackwing and Hyundai Veloster N as well as plenty of drive time in the Infiniti QX60. We do have a Miata, but it hasn't gotten much love among the other sporty cars. Sad. Next week we have a Volvo XC60 T8. Oooooooo. Enjoy!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/daily-motor-podcast/donations
The Daily Motor Podcast returns with many cars to discuss! Outside of our normal review weeks with the Ford Mustang Mach E GT, Volvo XC40, BMW M4 xDrive, Mazda MX-5 Miata, and Infiniti QX60, we also detail the cars being featured in the first ever DM Rally! (Hopefully) Five cars, five drivers, and one goal to find the best convertible GT road trip car. Minimal Copart activity today because we've been too busy and too broke to look for beater cars.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/daily-motor-podcast/donations
Host Tom Appel and co-hosts Jill Ciminillo and Damon Bell kick off the show by discussing the outrageous new GMC Hummer EV pure-electric pickup truck, and Jill's first-drive experience with it. Geri Hernandez, co-founder and CEO of Savory Crust Gourmet Empanadas, joins us to talk about owning and operating a food truck. Tom has a "Queen Elizabeth or Jaguar" quiz for Damon and Jill, and Damon runs down the latest articles on the Consumer Guide Daily Drive blog--including a test-drive review of the redesigned-for-2022 Infiniti QX60.
Benjamin drives the new 2022 Infiniti QX60 and frames his take on it by discusshing the heirarchy of luxury car brands. What is Tier 1 Luxury anyways and where does Infiniti rank? While the QX60 shares many components with the Nissan Pathfinder, the styling and effort with the details are supposed to make it stand out, so find out what Benjamin thinks after his time with the 3-row Japanese luxury SUV. Then Sami goes on a wild discussion about three of the newest and hottest luxury crossovers on the market. The 2022 Lexus NX has a new look and touch-screen interface, but is that enough to overcome the other options in the segment? The 2022 BMW X3 has the best motor in the segment, and a familiar cabin and experience, though can feel a bit choppy at times. Finally the 2022 Genesis GV70 seems like the jack-of-all-trades, with an experience that's good enough for most. Finally, Sami surprises Ben with a new lightning round game called "This or That." You won't want to miss it! Download, stream, rate, review, subscribe or do whatever you want to do! Thanks for listening! Arch Deluxe!

No doubt, the 2022 Infiniti QX60 is a big improvement over the outgoing model. A 9-speed transmission replaces the continuously variable unit. The user interface is a big step forward. The design, inside and out is fresh and up to date. Tom Voelk checks out a fully optioned Autograph model and finds that Infiniti's new approach is successful. Mostly. Looking at you big shiny things in back. And yes, it will haul the whole family.

In this episode of America on the Road host Jack Nerad has the chance to discuss this issue with a man who knows all about it. Brent Gruber is Senior Director of Global Automotive for J.D. Power. We talk with him about a just-released J.D. Power study on electric vehicle infrastructure and home-charging. Are carmakers and dealers doing enough to educate consumers on the ins-and-outs of owning an electric car? We'll give you the answer. Also in the road test segment, host Jack Nerad reviews the 2021 GMC Acadia. The Acadia isn't the best-known SUV on the market and it is certainly not the biggest, but it might be one of the best-looking. Does it act as good as it look? He honestly and accurately reports the experiences of the shoppers and does not influence their findings. In the garage this week, Sam has been driving one of the last car-shaped Volkswagens still available in America, the 2021 Arteon SE 2.0T and finds that yes, it can almost swallow a thick queen-size mattress through its sleek hatchback rear opening.
