If you're an insurance agent or adjuster with questions about licensing in Texas, you're in the right place. Whether you're applying for your first license or preparing for renewal, this guide answers the most common questions about Texas insurance licensing. How long does it take TDI to review my insurance license application? The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) typically reviews license applications within one business day. If your application is complete, accurate, and free of qualification issues, you could receive your license as soon as the next business day. After submitting your application, watch for any follow-up questions from TDI and respond promptly to avoid delay. How often do Texas insurance agents need to renew their license? Your Texas insurance license expires every two years on the last day of your birth month. For first time applicants, the initial license term may be shorter so that future renewals match your birth month. What do agents need to do to keep their Texas insurance license active? To maintain your insurance license, you must renew it every other year before it expires at the end of your birth month. The renewal process calls for completing all required continuing education (CE) hours, submitting your renewal application, and paying the renewal fee. There's a $25 fee if it's late. How many CE credits do I need to renew my Texas insurance license? Most Texas insurance licenses require 24 hours of CE every two years, including three hours of ethics courses. At least half of all CE hours must be in a classroom or classroom equivalent setting. CE requirements vary by license, so check the requirements for your specific license type. If you miss your CE deadline: You'll be fined $50 per late credit hour, up to $500.Your license will not renew until you:Complete all required CE.Pay the CE fine.Submit your renewal application.Pay the late fee, if applicable. If you don't renew your license within 90 days of the expiration date, your license will become inactive and you'll have to apply for a new one.Where can I get help with the Texas licensing process?Visit TDI's Agent/Adjusters page and select the license type. There, you'll find guidance on:Accessing required forms.Applying for a license. Renewing a license. Changing your address.Updating your name. When Bruce came back from recording this episode of The Money Advantage podcast, he told me something that hit hard: https://www.youtube.com/live/r5oyEytzj1w He shared how frustrated he feels every time he hears about a family who loses a loved one without proper life insurance. Suddenly, their friends and community are scrambling to create a GoFundMe page just to cover funeral expenses and basic needs. Life insurance is more than numbers—it's a financial hug that wraps around your family when they need it most. And the person who helps you design and implement it—your insurance agent—has an enormous impact on whether your family experiences peace of mind or financial devastation. Why the Right Life Insurance Agent MattersWhy Learning How to Choose the Right Life Insurance Agent MattersNeeds vs. Wants: A Modern Approach to InsuranceTop Qualities To Look For When Choosing the Right Insurance Agent1. A Network and Legacy MindsetRed Flags When Deciding How to Choose the Right Life Insurance AgentWhy Infinite Banking Requires the Right Insurance AgentQuestions to Ask Before Hiring an Insurance AgentWhy This MattersBook A Strategy CallFAQ SectionQ1: Why is choosing the right insurance agent so important?Q2: What qualities should I look for in an insurance agent?Q3: What are the red flags of a bad insurance agent?Q4: Do I need a special agent for Infinite Banking?Q5: Should I replace my existing whole life insurance policy? Why the Right Life Insurance Agent Matters Most people don't realize how choosing the right insurance agent can impact their family's entire financial future. The right agent will walk with you for decades, guiding you through life insurance decisions and strategies like Infinite Banking. The wrong one? They may sell you a policy you don't understand, disappear within a year, and leave your family unprotected. In this article, I'll share insights from Bruce Wehner and his guests Rob Brayton and Jesse Durham on what to look for, red flags to avoid, and exactly how to choose the right life insurance agent for your needs. In this article, I want to share the insights Bruce and his guests, Rob Brayton and Jesse Durham, discussed on the podcast. Together, their combined decades of experience in life insurance highlight exactly what you should look for in an insurance agent—and the red flags to avoid. By the end of this article, you'll know: Why your choice of insurance agent matters so much. The difference between traditional “needs analysis” and a modern, values-based approach. The top qualities that separate a great insurance agent from a mediocre one. Red flags that should make you pause before signing on the dotted line. Why Infinite Banking requires a very specific kind of agent. The key questions you should ask before choosing your advisor. This isn't just about buying a product—it's about choosing the right partner for your family's financial future and legacy. Why Learning How to Choose the Right Life Insurance Agent Matters Too often, people see life insurance as a commodity. They Google “cheapest life insurance” and buy the lowest-priced option, thinking they've checked the box. But life insurance is not about buying the cheapest product. As Bruce said, that would be like asking, “What's the lowest price I can get cancer removed from my body?” No one in their right mind would ask that! You'd ask, “Who's the best doctor? Who will walk with me through treatment? Who will actually care for my life?” That's the role of a great insurance agent. They're not just selling coverage. They're protecting your family's future, guiding you through complex financial decisions, and ensuring your strategy works not just today, but decades from now. Needs vs. Wants: A Modern Approach to Insurance In the old days, insurance was sold through a “needs analysis.
