Spiders, bugs, creepy crawlies - they are some of the worst phobias a person can have. The new film, STING (2024), certainly plays into those fears well and may be the reason it has received such fabulous reviews. From IMDB: "After raising an unnervingly talented spider in secret, 12-year-old Charlotte must face the facts about her pet-and fight for her family's survival-when the once-charming creature rapidly transforms into a giant, flesh-eating monster."Though primarily filmed in and starring mostly Australian performers, the movie takes place in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City. The movie was written and directed by Kiah Roache-Turner. When it appeared on Hulu in late 2024, its word of mouth spread. Your co-hosts take a look at it and give their thoughts.

Na coluna desta semana do Pensando em Cinema, o colunista Mário Abbade fala sobre o filme de terror Sting - Aranha Assassina, dirigido por Kiah Roache-Turner.
Wyrmwood Apocalypse is a brainless zombie horror from 2021 that features most of the same characters as the original Wyrmwood film. Set in the near future, this dystopian terror, is different than other films in this genre as of late due to the fact that it uses mostly practical effects for the savage amusement of the fans. Even though many of the original fans were critical of this hack and slash due to them lessening the slapstick element it still manages to entertain. The films main character is a paid for hire mercenary who hunts outlaws, zombies and hybrids. He is forced to make a difficult choice as his employer is doing experiments on hybrid zombies and humans to further their agenda. Starring Luke McKenzie as Rhys, Nicholas Boshier as the Surgeon General, Shantae Barnes-Cowan as Maxi, Bianca Bradey as Brooke and Tasia Aziar as Grace. This film is the brainchild of Kiah Roache-Turner.
Join us as we walk through one kick ass passion project, in 2014's Wormwood: Road of the Dead. This Australian gem is worth it! We were not expecting such a fun addition to the Zombie genre; with a few new twists that were totally welcome! Directed by Kiah Roache-Turner. Co-Written by Kiah Roache-Turner and Tristan Roache-Turner. Staring Jay Gallagher, Biance Bradey, and Leon Burchill.

In this episode I'm joined by The Demon Disorder director, writer, producer and special effects artist, Steve Boyle. The Demon Disorder follows brothers Jake (played by Dirk Hunter) and Graham (played by Christian Willis). When their youngest brother is believed to be demonically possessed, the estranged brothers reunite to confront a dreadful family secret. Charles Cottier, John Noble and Tobie Webster co-star. In my opinion, The Demon Disorder features some of the best practical effects you'll see in a modern horror film. Working with some of the biggest names in film and television, Steve Boyle has built a reputation for world-class standards in Special FX Production within the industry. With over 30 years experience in Special FX, Steve's credits as a designer include; Fear Below, The Portable Door, Love and Monsters, Daybreakers, BAIT 3D, Mental, Predestination and Jungle to name a few. In this interview, Steve gives us a great insight into the making of The Demon Disorder while sharing stories from his long career in the industry including his friendship and creative partnership with Michael and Peter Spierig, his time working on Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, and his upcoming work on Kiah Roache Turner's highly anticipated shark horror, Beast of War. Anyway… Enjoy.

Today we get a behind the scenes look into the brand new creature feature STING with director Kiah Roache-Turner and young rising star Alyla Browne! What's cool about this horror/comedy is that it takes a nod at some of the greatest action, sci-fi, and horror films of the 80's and 90's. Also we catch Alyla in such an exciting time of her career. Around Sting she was recently in Children of the Corn remake, The Secret Kingdom, and will be co-staring alongside Jim Carrey in Sonic The Hedgehog Part 3 this coming fall. Even though she is still a kid she is a master of her craft, and is full of fun stories such as telling us how she is pals with Sigourney Weaver and was calling her on the set of Sting to channel her inner "Ripley". Sting is now in theatres everywhere across North America!
