In the early 1970s, the tranquil community of Santa Cruz, California, was shattered by a series of murders committed by two serial killers operating at the same time. Edmund Kemper, known as the "Co-ed Killer," murdered eight individuals, including six young women, his mother, and her friend, between May 1972 and April 1973. Simultaneously, Herbert Mullin embarked on his own killing spree in the same area, further terrorizing the residents. In this final episode of "Murder City," we delve into Santa Cruz's darkest period, exploring how law enforcement apprehended these predators and the chilling twist of their eventual incarceration as cellmates. This month, I'm bringing you the story of three terrifying years that unfolded in Santa Cruz, California. Between 1970 and 1973, a series of murders rocked Santa Cruz, a once-peaceful beach community. Before it was all over, residents would live through unimaginable horrors - a prominent family wiped out in a mass murder by a deranged killer and two serial killers working simultaneously, but separately, in their midst. In this second part of the series, we'll pick up the story at the tail end of 1971. John Linley Frazier's trial had just concluded, and he was sentenced to die. While the courtroom drama played out for one Santa Cruz killer, another was moving into town. Edmund Emil Kemper III would become one of the most infamous serial killers on record. By the time he arrived in Santa Cruz in 1971, Kemper had already been convicted of a double murder. Less than a year after his release from prison, he would commit a series of gruesome murders that would forever cast a dark shadow over sunny Santa Cruz. I've taken an unprecedented deep dive into “The Co-ed Killer” to provide details about Kemper's life and crimes you haven't heard anywhere else. This is part two of “Murder City: Santa Cruz, California 1970 to 1973 - Ed Kemper. Sources: Murray, E. (2020). Murder Capital of the World. Cheney, M. (1976). The Co-Ed Killer. Goodreads Press. In the 1970s, Santa Cruz, California, became known by a title no one else wanted - “Murder City.” Between 1970 and 1973, a series of murders rocked the once peaceful beach community. Before it was all over, residents would live through unimaginable horrors - a prominent family wiped out in a mass murder by a deranged killer and not one but two serial killers stalking their streets at the same time. In this 3-part series, we'll travel back in time to experience those three terrifying years in Santa Cruz - 1970 to 1973 - beginning with the mass murder of a prominent doctor and his family. Just as the court was determining the first killer's fate, another was making Santa Cruz his home and hunting grounds. His crimes would make him one of the most infamous serial killers on record. Playlist;(sintonía) DAVIE ALLAN and THE ARROWS “Another cycle in Detroit”ANDRE WILLIAMS “Detroit Michigan”SOUNDS INCORPORATED “Detroit”NIKKI CORVETTE and THE STINGRAYS “Back to Detroit”BLONDIE “Detroit 442”FATS DOMINO “Detroit City Blues”JOHN LEE HOOKER “The motor city is burning”DETROIT featuring MITCH RYDER “Rock’n’Roll”THE ROCKETS “Born in Detroit”THE GORIES “Detroit breakdown”THE DIRTBOMBS “Broke in Detroit again”KISS “Detroit Rock City”RADIO BIRDMAN “Murder City nights”DAVID BOWIE “Panic in Detroit”PRIMAL SCREAM “Detroit”TOM JONES “Detroit City”WAYNE KRAMER “Back to Detroit”Escuchar audio

PLUS JJ's weed delivery service, classic voicemails, emails and bonus goodies! More About Dopey: Dopey Podcast is the world's greatest podcast on drugs, addiction and dumb shit. Chris and I were two IV heroin addicts who loved to talk about all the coke we smoked, snorted and shot, all the pills we ate, smoked, all the weed we smoked and ate, all the booze we consumed and all the consequences we suffered. After making the show for 2 and a half years, Chris tragically relapsed and died from a fentanyl overdose. Dopey continued on, at first to mourn the horrible loss of Chris, but then to continue our mission - which was at its core, to keep addicts and alcoholics company. Whether to laugh at our time in rehab, or cry at the worst missteps we made, Dopey tells the truth about drugs, addiction and recovery. We continually mine the universe for stories rife with debauchery and highlight serious drug taking and alcoholism. We also examine different paths toward addiction recovery. We shine a light on harm reduction and medication assisted treatment. In this week's episode of the Black Girl Nerds podcast, we welcome actors Mike Colter and Antonio Fargas to discuss their latest film Murder City. The film follows Neil (Mike Colter), a cop and dedicated family man with a glimmer of warmth behind his otherwise coarse husk. Financially down on his luck, Neil decides to take a job selling a load of dope with his deadbeat father, Graham (Antonio Fargas), which turns out to be a DEA trap. Mike Colter has been nominated for two back-to-back Critics Choice Awards (Lead Actor in a Drama Series) for his role as priest-in-training “David Acosta” on the streaming series Evil, which is currently airing its third season. Antonio Fargas is a legend in the film, television and theater industry. He is a remarkable talent who has portrayed a wide and vast array of characters throughout his long and storied career. His unforgettable characters “Huggy Bear” in Starsky & Hutch, “Bunky” in Shaft, “Link Brown” in Foxy Brown and “Lindy” in Carwash, clearly established Fargas as a bona fide icon. Murder City is currently streaming on Tubi. Host: Jamie Music by: Sammus Edited by: Jamie Broadnax

Talking Beards revisited Brian Thompson to see how his campaign to save his beard and help raise money for the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU went. Brian was on a quest to raise some money for the Children's Hospital of Richmond by "selling" votes to either shave his beard or continue growing it. The RVA Beard League have teamed up with Brian to help him with his quest and established a website for everyone to go to to donate and get information. The website is https://saveitorshaveit.beardleague.org/ Brian's article in The News & Advance https://newsadvance.com/.../article_12db936c-4e43-543c... Honest Amish held their annual "No Shave November" photo contest which received hundreds of submissions. One of those entries was a Travis Smith, no relation to the director Kevin. Travis' beard ended up being voted Best Overall and won some really great prizes compliments of Honest Amish. Beginning his competitive beard journey just this past year, Travis has found himself on the lucky side of beard competitions! the No shave November contest was voted on by a panel of employees at Honest Amish who found Travis to have the best maintained, best looking beard out of all of the submissions. We at Talking Beards congratulate Travis on his spectacular beard and wish him the best of luck on his facial hair journey. Keep your eyes peeled next year as Honest Amish will continue with their yearly tradition of the No Shave November on-line beard contest. Follow Talking Beards for more information on this fun contest for all beards and mustaches around the world!!! Our good friend Brad Petrenic joins us to talk about the Murder City Facial Hair Crew being accepted into the WBMA. The World Beard and Mustache Association in the Oversight Committee for the Biennial World Beard and Moustache Championships. They encourage the worldwide appreciation of beards and moustaches and believe that all facial hair related events should encourage friendship among those with facial hair and those who appreciate it. We also talked with Brad about their yearly competition that recently took place in Detroit, Circus of Whiskers. The Murder City Facial hair Crew, which Brad is the president of, were recently awarded the 2024 Great American Beard and Moustache Championships, and we talked about their initial preparation and plans. Brad is also famous for his yearly Christmas cards and we talked a lot about the story behind how all that began. This episode will be the first in our Bleeding London series. According to Michael Arntfield's book Murder City, the city of London, Ontario, between the years of 1959-1984, was the murder capital of Canada, and arguably the world. There were up to 6 serial killers operating in London at any given time during this time frame. The series will tackle some of London's most prolific serial killers. First on the docket is Gerald Thomas Archer, aka “The Chambermaid Slayer”. Archer had one of the most specific and consistent victimologies in serial killer history. He's just the tip of the iceberg in this chilling series, and is only one small part of London's dark and twisted past.Don't forget to check out our Patreon link to join and get a bunch of really wicked cool perks!Connect with us:Patreon - www.patreon.com/howtonotgetkilledInstagram - @howtonotgetkilledTwitter - @H2NGKWebsite - www.howtonotgetkilled.comEmail - howtonotgetkilled@gmail.comSources:Murder City by Michael Arntfield [book]https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/murder-suspects-dead-cold-squad-determines/article25455328/https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=kTM_AAAAIBAJ&pg=3789%2C756585https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=kTM_AAAAIBAJ&pg=5456%2C768541Content Warning: Explicit Language.

#Podcast #Finance #Detroit #Déclin --------- Sources : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0p5VMCaOSM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g54hmHQxT74 --------- Contact : - Commentaires YouTube - Email : contact@etatfinancier.info
( note: we weren't able to record in the studio so audio is off a bit) The murder capital of the United States isn't Chicago, Baltimore or Detroit - it's St. Louis, Missouri, which for each of the last **SEVEN** years in a row had has the highest murder rate in the United States. The city just finished 2020 with a record breaking murder rate of 87 per 100,000 people, making it the deadliest city in the world not in Mexico or Brazil. A city of only 300,000 people, it had twice as many murders as London, population 9 million. This is the story of how St Louis became the murder capital of America; guns, gangs, drugs, poor policing, population loss, disappearing industry, concentrated poverty, and a history of systemically racist policies.
Cheers! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This week we have some very special guests - Billie Parent's visit us from Down Under and we discuss some of the most infamous true crime cases from their hometown of Adelaide, South Australia.
Today we interview Canadian criminologist Michael Arntfield, author of the book Murder City, The Untold Story of Canada's Serial Killer Capital, 1959-1984. Arntfield was a police officer and detective in London, Ontario from 1999 to 2014 when he left policing to accept a customized academic appointment at University of Western Ontario where he teaches what he calls "literary criminology" in a combined English literature, professional writing, and crime studies program. The best-selling and controversial Murder City for which Arntfield is arguably best known, advances a hypothesis, often employing an epistolary format through the use of a now deceased detective Dennis Alsop’s original diary notes, that over a specific interval in the 1960s and 1970s, the city of London, Ontario spawned or otherwise housed more serial killers per capita than any city in Canada, and possibly beyond. For more information on subjects discussed in the podcast please visit the website: http://theresaallore.com/2017/03/the-michael-arntfield-interview-wkt-13/

This week's Dope Media included: High Maintenance, Gil Scott-Heron, Mistaken for Strangers (documentary film), A.K.A. Tommy Chong (documentary), Murder City by Charles Bowden (book about Juarez, Mexico), Lost in America/Easy Rider, and the new War on Drugs album. http://dopestories.com

Bowden, award-winning Tucson-based author and journalist reveals the story of the disintegration of Ciudad Juárez. Interweaving stories of the city's inhabitants-a raped beauty queen, a repentant hitman, a journalist fleeing for his life-with a broader meditation on the Mexican town's descent into anarchy.
