Three weeks ago on the Mindset Hackers Podcast I had a wonderful guest Amy Porterfield on my show. If you don't know Amy Porterfield she is one of the top digital marketers and entrepreneurs and the host of the Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast. During my interview with Amy I asked her to share with me one Mindset Hack that helps her keep going in her business and she said her favorite mantra is "I've Already Won" and then talked about a book called Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan and Benjamin Hardy. Over the last couple of week I was able to listen to the Gap and the Gain and thought this would be an excellent topic to talk about here. The Gap and the Gain is an incredible way to help keep you focused on the gains that you have made in life and not the gaps that you think you have in life. Wherever your focus is expands so being more aware of the times when you are hung up on the gaps, or the gains you are making, even the incremental ones can add up to massive success in your life! Make sure to grab the Gap and the Gain on Amazon or Audible if this episode is a topic that you find interesting and helpful.

She is the queen of list building and online course creation in the US. Her business weights more than 70 million dollars. She trained almost 50 000 persons with only 8 online courses. She is my mentor, and she kindly accepted to come over to my podcast for her very first interview on a French podcast. She is Amy Porterfield.  If you don't know who Amy is, go listen to her podcast Digital Marketing Made Easy Podcast, it's one of the biggest US podcast, and it is full of golden nuggets for anyone who wants to build a business online.  I launched my very own podcast, thanks to Amy. It is also thanks to her that I created my online course. And these two things became my new job. A job that I love, that I can do anywhere, and whenever it suits me. There are few people that really impacted my life, let me tell you that Amy Porterfield is undoubtly one of them.  Today I asked her to tell us about a topic that we both love : list building, and especially how to grow your email list.  Be prepared to take notes, this episode is very special. To be honest with you, it's the episode I'm the most proud of since the beginning of the Marketing Podcast - and this is number 129.  Amy does not give us just "classic" tips that you can find everywhere, she gets into the real thing, she goes deep, she gives actionnable advices, and she share her very own strategies. When you know that several hundreds of thousands of people gave her their email address, when you know that she adds almost 2000 new address in her list every week, you can bet she has one thing or two to teach us about list building.  Now you got it, Amy is American, we recorded this episode in English, it's the very first time I do that on my podcast. So you can either choose this episode, fully in English, or you can choose to listen to the episode in French (it's right before this one). By the way, I want to thank from the bottom of my heartCatherine Benmaor who is a professional voice over and the host of the beautiful French podcast Souvernirs d'Enfant  for the huge voice over work she did on the French version of this episode. Catherine, without you none of this would have been possible. A huge thank you

Have you ever heard of Imposter Syndrome? It's that feeling like you don't belong and that you're a fraud and not good enough. If you have any interest in online marketing strategies, creating digital courses, selling with webinars, or growing your email list… you KNOW the name Amy Porterfield. I don’t think I’ve met anyone in the business of online education who hasn’t actively listened to (and taken notes from) her Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast and/or taken one of her signature programs.⁣ For context, I met Amy at a dinner in spring 2018 at a time when I knew I had a valuable skill set—being able to build successful personal brands online—but I was over trading time for money and knew there had to be a way to package my knowledge. ⁣Amy’s Courses That Convert (which has evolved into Digital Course Academy) was the first online course I actually “took.”  ⁣I want to give credit where credit is due, and Amy’s content not only helped me pivot my business model, but it also changed my perception of the online education industry. Online education could be incredibly valuable, actionable, and high quality, and it set the bar for the standards I now keep. ⁣I used her framework to build my first course, The LinkedIn Laws, and I have been successfully scaling my business since that time. And that brings us full circle to this week’s Beyond Influential, because I had the very big honor earlier this year of being featured on Amy’s Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast, where I shared my best tips on how to grow your email list using LinkedIn, and today, I’m excited to share that episode with you! Having an amazing product or service is all well and good, but without having an audience to sell it to, you will have to put in a lot more effort into getting the word out. You can spend time trying to sell directly on social media platforms, but a much more reliable and effective way to market your products is using something you own, namely your email list. An email list allows you to get in front of your audience without fighting the algorithm or relying on a platform that is outside your control and that could disappear on you overnight. This episode also features incredibly valuable (and practical!) Instagram list-building strategies from Instagram expert for entrepreneurs (and Ep. 53 BI guest) Jasmine Star, as well as Amy’s most effective tactics for Facebook!  Even if you don’t currently have an email list, it’s easy to get started. This episode covers why you must have your own email list, lead magnets and other ways to get people to join your list, tips and best practices to grow your list using LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, and more!   Don't want to miss an episode (or valuable free resources!)? Success leaves clues, my friend. I wanted to do this podcast because for a long time I didn't really actively search for people who inspired me to be a better human. Yes, there were always examples of women in my life that I could look up to, but I wasn't thinking consciously about how the women playing incredibly big games in their lives approached their lives and when I discovered women like the ones I'm going to talk with you about today, I discovered that there was a world of possibilities that I had closed myself off to. At the very end of this podcast, I'm going to share with you what all these women have in common. It's like a checklist for you to follow to get what you want in life. My hope is that I share a little something today that inspires you to up your game in an area of your life. Maybe you have a new motivational podcast or an Instagram account to follow as a result and something I say or they say, we'll hit you just right. It's going to hit you in a way that hopefully will inspire you to take action like you never have before. One of the things that each of these women have in common that I'll tell you right now is that they take care of themselves and they manage their time better than 99% of the population and I am all about managing time and reducing overwhelm and stress in our lives. If you find yourself saying, "I wish I had more time," or you tell yourself that you'd "get to that project, if you had some more time," then it's time you downloaded the busy lawyers quick start guide to getting five hours back each week. If you want to play bigger in your life just like these women have that I'm going to talk about download that guide. Not only will you have more time, but you will also feel better about how you move through your day and you can get it free by clicking here: https://www.dinacataldo.com/89 There you can also learn more about the women leaders I'm speaking about: Sarah Blakely, CEO of Spanx; Selena Soo, CEO of Impacting Millions; Amy Porterfield, host of the Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast; and Brooke Castillo, host of the Life Coach School podcast. I am really excited to be talking about today's topic, which is mostly about my weight loss journey. I wanted to do this episode because it's  New Year, and so many of us want this year to be the one that we change and experience amazing things. One of those things is self-care! A lot of times, we give so much to our families, friends, our job, and school, but you cannot pour from an empty cup. Sometimes you may go without sleeping or eating, and all of the comforts you are used to just so you can take care of everybody else. Often, when you are in survival mode, self-care is not on any list that you have. In this episode, I am going to be talking about my belief about self-care and how it has helped me in my weight loss journey.  When Remy was diagnosed with autism and epilepsy, I thought a lot about the future. What would it look like for Remy? Would she be able to be independent, or would she even make it to adulthood? One of the biggest concerns of mine is that I am going to die before she does. Any parents want to die before their kid, but when you have a child with autism or special needs, you don't want that to happen because you don't know what will happen to them without you there. When you have someone, who could potentially be taken care of their whole life, the typical 18-year mark to adulthood extends to the length of time your child will be alive. So with that fear, we have to think of financial support, who will take care of them, if they will be put in a home, and we worry that no one will take care of them or love them like we would.  We need to focus on how to take care of ourselves so we can be there for our kids as long as possible. The importance of self-care is one of those things we know is true but is so hard to practice. How do we take care of ourselves and love ourselves when we have so much on our plates?   Over the years, since I've had children, I've been able to lose weight after each pregnancy. But it was especially hard once I had Remy to re-lose the weight again. When I had decided to start dieting again, Remy began having seizures, and I didn't feel like I could keep it up. I'd been on many diets before but fast forward five years, I hadn't lost weight, I was the heaviest I've ever been and completely miserable.  I realized that I was using food to numb myself. It is really stressful to be a mom of four, and to watch your daughter have seizures all the time. But I realized that if I kept going and didn't keep myself in check, I wouldn't be around to help Remy as she got older. How I was feeling and the state of health that I was in, there is no way I would be able to take care of her if I didn't do something about it.  For the first time in my life, I decided to practice self-love and to tell myself that it was okay even if I had let myself go and gain a bunch of weight. By loving and forgiving myself, it made me appreciative of the body that I have. I've never appreciated my body in my life. I began to appreciate it because I had acted unconsciously for the last seven years and my body still functioned. I was thankful that my body let me do damage to it and that it was still working. All of us special needs moms devote ourselves entirely to taking care of everyone else. We don't take care of the most important thing that gives us the ability to take care of others, which is our bodies, minds, and our happiness. I had a couple of breakthroughs with this journey. I listened to two different amazing podcasts, which helped me to realize that I can accomplish my weight-loss goals.  I was successful enough to lose 20 pounds, but over the summer, I still struggled to lose anymore.  It was over six months that I lost 20 pounds, but I wasn't very successful in the summer in my effort to increase my weight loss. It caused me to realize that the problem lay in what I was thinking. I would feel envious of different women that I saw on TV that seemed like they had everything they needed, and that was why they were successful at their weight goals. But I began to listen to the thoughts that I was thinking, and I realized that I have access to the same resources that other women do. The only difference is my mindset. My thoughts when I compared myself to other women had become a belief, and when it becomes a belief, it becomes the truth.  The biggest thing that I have learned is that you cannot lose weight by being unconscious. You have to pay attention to what you are eating and why. Once I knew that all of the things I had previously been thinking were lies, that's when things started to take off. When you question yourself enough, the autopilot of your mind gets rid of old food habits. I am so excited to say that I was able to lose 55 pounds!! I'm so happy because the food doesn't control me anymore. I lost fifty-five pounds, and I am still going. I work out three to five times a week, I am stronger, and I feel amazing. I started by just making small changes and working on my mindset.  In this episode, I also include a description of what my own diet looks like and how it's worked for me. If losing weight is on your list of things to do for the New Year, go check out the Losing 100 Pounds podcast. I know because I have done it! I believe that this year is going to be your year, it will be a new start, and I know that you will be unstoppable. Make this year different, and please let me know how it is going! We need to love ourselves so that we can be better parents for our kids!  If we do not love ourselves, we will not be healthy enough to take care of our children or live as long as we could to be around for them.  Shaming yourself will only make you feel worse. By feeling shame about how much weight you've gained, or how you've failed at your goals in the past, you are allowing yourself to have a negative mindset that won't improve the situation. You have been through a lot, and it is okay to love your body for still being there for you.  The real work comes when you change your mindset. If you do not change your perspective about weight loss or other goals, you will not be able to change the patterns that you have been in. Mindset is the most important thing to retrain.  You cannot eat unconsciously and expect to lose weight.  If you are not aware of when or why you are eating, you will not be able to recognize your unhealthy habits or patterns and be able to adjust them accordingly.  When you start talking to yourself and questioning all those thoughts, they lose their power and just go away. Our thoughts are conditioned to believe that we have to binge eat or that we aren't strong enough to resist dessert. Still, by challenging our own minds, we begin to train them to believe something else.  Links mentioned in the show Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast with Amy Porterfield.  https://www.amyporterfield.com/2018/11/239/ Losing 100 Pounds Podcast with Corrine Crabtree.  https://www.phit-n-phat.com/blog/ Connect with me Email: jody@jodywarshawsky.com FB Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/608571542825070/ FB Page https://www.facebook.com/acceptingtheunacceptable/ Instagram https://www.instagram.com/jodywarshawsky/ Website https://www.jodywarshawsky.com

I never want you to feel as though I'm  over here making it happen without stumbling along the way, so perhaps some of the things I'm sharing with you today will make you feel a little less alone if you're dealing with something similar.   We're talking everything from dating and loneliness, to procrastination and criticism, and I definitely feel out of my comfort zone putting this out there.  Seems to be the running theme lately

Episode Highlights: Jordan Harbinger: It’s all about who you know - not just connecting up but up, down, and laterally. Your network is the most important resource you have. Short term  - your network is great, long term - your network is crucial. How Jordan defines networking - helping people without the expectation of return and in a scalable way. When people help you and keep score they’ll write you off when you don’t reciprocate. Never think about networking transactionally. If you think everyone is taking advantage of you, it’s probably you. If someone won’t help you, even with small things, they’re probably taking advantage of you. Amy Porterfield: Who you know is important to a certain extent, but what you know is also important. People always need things done, so figure out what those things are. How Travis developed a relationship with John Lee Dumas and then got Amy Porterfield on the show. How Amy became friends with Marie Forleo and why she didn’t pay for that friendship. How to get started adding value to others. If you’re an evangelist for what someone is doing you can’t help but notice them. A person of influence is not going to tell you how they want you to support them. Jeff Hoffman: Who you know is more important because you don’t know everything. You’re not as smart as you think you are, and you’re not good at 12 things, you’re good at one thing. If you’re a founder/CEO/Manager you should schedule days to be out of the office to build your network. Why Jeff engages strangers all the time. How Jeff got a Universal Studios executive to come to be a partner in his independent studio. Most people neglect networking because they’re too busy being inefficient to stop and take time to be more efficient. 3 Key Points: Networking is not all about schmoozing people ahead of you, you should be well-connected with everyone - up, down, and laterally. There is not a difference between networking and real relationship building. Don’t build your network when you need it, build it way before you need it. Tweetable Quotes: “The only things people can’t take away from you are your skills and relationships.” -Jordan “You don’t have to be Richard Branson to offer value to people.” -Travis “Your heart has to be in the right place, it’s never about making something happen for you, and then magic happens.” -Amy “The only way to build anything of significance in life is to build a team.” -Jeff Resources Mentioned: Visit Travis’ website at Buildyournetwork.co (http://www.buildyournetwork.co/) Learn more about mentorships and masterminds for FREE at freemmcourse.com/enroll (http://www.freemmcourse.com/join) Download Meet Your Hero at travischappell.com/hero (http://travischappell.com/hero) Explode Your Network at travischappell.com/explode (http://travischappell.com/explode) For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy (https://www.acast.com/privacy)

Christian Woman Leadership Podcast

How does a social worker with no formal business training end up owning and running a business that supports her family? And what are some of the challenges and the benefits along this journey? You’ve heard from other business owners and women in leadership, but today, Holly interviews me about my own business journey. We’re kicking off a few episodes focused on leadership in business, so we thought it would be fun for you to hear a bit of my backstory, how I ended up where I am today, and the lessons I've learned along the way.   Direct Sales: My first business was with a direct sales company shortly after graduating college and beginning my social work career. I was invited to a scrapbooking party and ended up becoming a consultant. I continued this business for about 3 years. After this, I joined a different company which focused on wellness, and quickly found that it had a more profitable business model. I was able to work with that company for over 9 years and earned consistent income. That business allowed me to go from working full-time as a social worker to eventually being at home full-time. My Passion: One of my passions has always been writing. I started my blog in 2006 and continued it, though sporadically, over the next 9 years. However, at the end of 2015, I started to feel burnt out from direct sales, and the desire to write and reach women became stronger. I felt that God was putting it on my heart to pursue the writing again. So I stepped back from my business at the time and began focusing on my blog. I learned everything I could about online business, growing an email list, gaining traffic to my blog, and creating income from a blog. I became a podcast listener and took in as much as I could to help me with my blog. I also took courses to grow my understanding and skills as well. Over the next year, I implemented a lot of what I was learning and began seeing results. I loved writing and connecting with the women I was reaching. Most of all, I loved helping others.   Starting My Own Business: As much as  I loved working on my blog and connecting with the women there, we got to a point where I was going to either have to go get a job, resume my direct sales business, or start something new. It was then that I realized that I had a lot of skills and natural strengths that I had used and/or learned by working on my own blog. Not only that, but other people would actually pay me to do a lot of those things for them as a virtual assistant. So in January 2017, I officially began my business Morningstar Media Services as a virtual assistant. Soon I transitioned into being on online business manager, as I was offering support in a variety of ways as well as strategic input into my clients’ businesses. Later, I niched down to focusing on working with business owners who have (or want to have) a podcast to help grow their business. Business Lessons Learned: I could not have gotten to where I am today without the impact of mentors. I learned a lot from various mentors during my business journey, and I share about 3 of them: Sheila, Kindel, and Julie. Business Challenges: Learning how to promote my business without being obnoxious Learning how to hear the word “no” and be okay with it Managing my time and schedule Business Wins: Hitting my first advancement Being able to provide a consistent income for my family Reaching my goals more quickly than expected when I began Morningstar Biggest Business Lessons: Business is all about relationships. The reason that my business took off as quickly as it did is due to the relationships I had developed online during the previous year and a half--with no agenda. I’ve learned the importance of taking your wiring into account when deciding what business or opportunity to pursue. As an introvert, there are certain things that come much easier for me than others. When I shifted to doing work that was more in line with how God had designed me, I felt better and was able to make a bigger impact. Through all of my business ventures, the goal has always been to help people. But the vehicle I’ve used has been different in different seasons. Don’t hold back what you know--your skills, passions, and natural strengths that God has given you. To not use these things is actually dishonoring to God. None of it is luck. Business is a journey, and there are times when things will go really well, and other times when you want to give up and throw in the towel. You have to be willing to follow God’s leading, even when it doesn’t make sense to you. Always continue learning and developing your skills.   Leaders Are Learners: I share my favorite resources for learning and growing a business, most of which are podcasts. #7: How to Get More Facebook Fans

Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 10, 2013 37:41

This session is Part 1 of a 3 Part mini-training all about Facebook marketing.  On this episode of the Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast, we are diving into Facebook Marketing.  Specially, I'm going to give you three strategies that are working RIGHT NOW to attract more quality Facebook fans. Why are Facebook fans important?  Well there are a few reasons.  First, when you grow a big community of loyal fans on Facebook, your chances of getting seen and heard inside Facebook increase.  It's really just a numbers game. The more fans you have talking about you, liking your posts and sharing your content, the more often people on Facebook will see your content. You want an army of raving fans talking about you - and Facebook can do just that! Also, your Facebook fan count acts as social proof.  That means when someone comes to your Facebook page and sees you have a few thousand fans (or more!) they think, "Ok, this company is legit."  Crazy, I know.  But true!  We want to become fans of pages our friends and peers like.  The more fans you have, the more new fans you can get. In this episode, here’s what we’ll cover: In this episode, I share with you three super simple, but highly valuable, Facebook fan attracting tips.  Implement these and start seeing more fans overnight. Simple as that! Strategy #1: The Facebook Like Box A Like Box helps you attract Facebook fans that are genuinely interested in you and your business. Here's why you should add a Like Box to your website: Your website audience is a warm audience and are very likely to follow you on Facebook too. It's easy to implement (takes less than 5 minutes!) and is one of the more effective ways to grow a quality fan community. The Like Box will  get you more fans, but NOT move your existing website traffic over to Facebook. Strategy #2: Target Friends of Fans with Facebook "Like Ads" A Like Ad can be shown to the friends of your fans and does not require any special copy or images. It's easy to set up, inexpensive and extremely effective! Here's why "Like Ads" work like gangbusters: These ads are the simplest ads to set up, and the cheapest too. When you attract fans who are friends with your existing fans, you are more likely to attract a "quality" fan. When you run Like Ads, your exposure, reach and impact on Facebook increases quickly. Strategy 3: Increase Your Engagement Here's how engagement will help you attract more fans: One of the most common reasons why people on Facebook struggle to get more fans is that they don't have any engagement on their Facebook page. When you don't have engagement you won't be seen in the news feed and the news feed is where all the action is on Facebook. When you get people talking about you on Facebook (liking your posts, commenting and sharing your content) your exposure organically increases (meaning you don't have to pay for the engagement, it just happens natuarally).  When your exposure increases, your fan base increases. I will show you how to make sure you never have another moment where you say, "I can't think of anything to post on my Facebook page today!" On this episode of the Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast, I interview Anne Samoilov, on the topic of online launches. I consider Anne to be an online launch expert, and while that's not a title she would likely give herself, it's very fitting. Anne has worked on several big online launches including Marie Forleo's B-School launch that you have may heard me talk about in episode 3. It's a strategic and smart strategy to think about the promotion of your business in terms of launches, and I wanted to interview Anne because she has a unique, holistic look at launching anything online that I know you'll find helpful. In this episode, here’s what we’ll cover: How Anne defines launching (it's not what you think!) A common misconception regarding launches How to set a foundation for a successful launch How having the right systems in place can free you up to be creative How to make sure you're targeting the right people And so much more!
