Hvilken trening anbefaler kardiologen for å styrke hjertet? Paul talks with Duke University professor and cultural anthropologist, Rebecca Stein, about her insightful work on the ways in which activists are using social and digital media to challenge, resist and expose the crimes of the Israeli state against Palestinians, as well as the challenges they face from the state itself—committed to distorting or manipulating actual documentary footage—to deny the crimes themselves. As Rebecca reveals, the state's military and often with the support of the larger Israeli society ultimately do so to further achieve violent colonial and imperialistic ends, the unsufferable costs of which are endured by Palestinians daily. This is the fourth episode of The Dark Room's "Palestine in Perspective" series, which from here on in (with possible exceptions) be available in audio format only. Learn more about Professor Stein here, including her most recent book Screen Shots: State Violence on Camera in Israel and Palestine. *** CREDITS Producer - Paul Salvatori Writer & Host - Paul Salvatori Sound Editor - Peter Bull Music - Paul Salvatori

In Family Papers: A Sephardic Journey Through the Twentieth Century (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2019), Sarah Abrevaya Stein weaves a narrative tapestry whose threads are drawn from the archives of one Sephardic family, with roots in the city of Salonica, then in the Ottoman Empire, now Thessaloniki in Greece. The story begins with one of the prominent Jewish citizens of that thriving port city, then follows the family in its dispersion through nine countries across three continents during the most tumultuous and violent years of the twentieth century. This fascinating book is not only a masterful work of archival research but of storytelling. Professor Stein deftly portrays the vivid personalities that comprise the family, even as she teaches valuable lessons about the Sephardic culture in which they were firmly implanted. Professor Stein also ponders important questions about the nature of personal, family, and cultural memories, and the importance of the vanishing art of written correspondence -- and the way history, properly told, can restore and revive buried narratives, and the relationships that gave them life. The result is a masterwork of historical narrative, and a story beautifully told. David Gottlieb, a member of the teaching faculty at Spertus Institute in Chicago, received his PhD in the History of Judaism from the University of Chicago Divinity School in 2018. He is the author of Second Slayings: The Binding of Isaac and the Formation of Jewish Memory (Gorgias Press, 2019). Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Synopsis In a surprising cold open, young Martin Stein stands in line to buy a Beebo doll for his daughter Lily. Unfortunately, there is only one left and five year olds can’t wait until February! Young Martin channels his inner Oliver Queen and snags the last Beebo doll. As he is running from the crowd of “barbarians,” he instantly becomes this week’s anachronism when he is transported to Vinland and encounters real barbarians. Leo, the Legends new resident therapist, has decided to hold grief counseling sessions with a Professor Stein puppet. Perhaps this was a bit in poor taste, and luckily for Jax, his session is interrupted by an anachronistic time quake. After Martin Stein showed up in Vinland with a Beebo doll, Leif Erikson conquered North America in 1000 AD. The Legends head to 1000 AD on a recon mission and discover young Martin held captive. Jax frees him and they return to the Waverider to discover the anachronism has somehow gotten worse. While the team try to decide how to best retrieve the Beebo doll, Agent Sharpe decides to check-in and offer her condolences on the loss of Dr. Stein. It’s a Beebo Day miracle! The Legends and Agent Sharpe do their best to blend in with the locals and find the Beebo doll. Mick finds it first, along with some booze, attracting the attention of Freydis. According to her, Beebo hungers for a blood sacrifice, so the plan is to burn Mick Rory alive. As everyone gathers around the pire, Leo prepares his cold gun and quenches the fire at the last minute. Nate and Amaya try to steal Beebo during the diversion and accidentally squeeze him. A battle ensues over Beebo and Rory ends it by burning the Beebo doll. Lightning strikes and Damien Darhk appears dressed as Odin. The Legends return to the temporal zone to form a plan just as Jax leaves to return Martin to his rightful place in time. Zari convinces Jax to look for a loophole, so he writes Martin a letter and instructs him not to open it until November 28, 2017. Unfortunately, Martin has seen Back to the Future. With the Tim Bureau unwilling to help, the Legends come-up with a plan to stop Darhk and diffuse the anachronism. Just as Darhk is about to disappear, Sara tries to follow him and is transported directly to Mallus’ lair. Sharpe pulls her out to rejoin the team. Jax learns Martin still dies in 2017 and travels back to 1992 to confront him. He explains to Jax (again) that he lived a life full of adventure and now Jax needs the chance to live his. After the two shake hands, he returns to the Waverider and breaks the news to Sara that he is returning to 2017. The Legends surprise him with a Christmas send-off and Sara returns him to Central City 2017. She returns to the Waverider and finds John Constantine hiding in the shadows with an ominous message. EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS: Season 1 Episode 11 “The Magnificent Eight” (Date: 15 Apr 2016) Article:http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/04/14/legends-of-tomorrow-things-you-may-have-missed-in-the-magnificen/ Magnificent 7 reference: We talked about the movies and source material earlier Salvation, Texas: Salvation, Texas, was the name of a town featured in a 2006 Jonah Hex story. In that tale, the town wasn't run by criminals, but by a particularly controlling sect of nuns. Kuberts Barbershop sign: One of the storefronts in Salvation features a pretty familiar name to DC Comics fans: Kubert. In this instance, it's likely a nod to Joe Kubert, whose work on Jonah Hex comics helped to craft the look of the character's early years. Kubert, of course, also worked on a lot of classic Hawkman stories, meaning that his influence has been felt quite a bit on Legends. Jonah Hex: While Hex's origin is that of a post-Civil War bounty hunter, he's had some time-travel adventures himself. In the DC Comics Universe, when he found himself flung to the far future after the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. G. Wells: The child Stein saves in the episode is actually a young H.G. Wells, whose The Time Machine is widely regarded as one of the earliest and best novels on the topic of time-travel. ---- But we all know Warehouse 13 told the TRUE story of H.G. Well. (Shannon, that's for you!) John Wayne reference: Ray comes up with another great alias... Turnbull: Turnbull, the man who's responsible for the sacking of Calvert, Oklahoma, is a Jonah Hex villain from the comics. He was also the villain in the Jonah Hex movie played by John Malkovich. Hannibal Hawkes: Hannibal Hawkes isn't just the Old West hero Nighthawk, but in modern stories it was revealed that he was, indeed, one of the many lives of Prince Khufu/Hawkman. Klemmer & Sons sign: One of Salvation's storefronts is that of "Klemmer and Sons," apparently the business owned by Phil Klemmer's family. Klemmer is a writer and producer on Legends of Tomorrow. Geddes Drugstore sign: One of the signs in town is for an apothecary named D. Geddes, a nod to David Geddes, who directed last week's episode titled "Progeny. Snart and Rory want to return to 2016 while Sara struggles with the fact that Rip would sell the team out to save his own family since Rip may have sent Jax on a “Deadly Years’ type suicide mission that he should have taken himself. Kendra tries to get a captured Carter to remember their lives together while Ray anguishes over what might happen if Carter does remember (thanks to a conversation with Savage). Professor Stein figured out that to save Jax and de-age him, he had to send him back to 2016 – thereby screwing Snart and Rory over in their desires to return. Upon arriving at the Vanishing Point, Rip is arrested and Savage is sent back to his time as the Time Masters have been in league with Savage the entire time.

Still in 1975, the team infiltrate a warhead auction for terrorists under the belief that Savage will be there. Savage becomes aware of their presence and orders them killed. A fight breaks out between the team and the terrorists. They all escape, but not before a piece of Ray's suit is left behind. Angry at the recklessness, Rip points out what happens and how the technology of Ray's suit will create super weapons that lead to the destruction of Central City in 2016. The team splits up, with Professor Stein, Jackson, and Sara retrieving the missing piece of Ray's suit, while Ray, Snart, and Rory go in search of the dagger that kills Kendra and Carter in their first life. The dagger turns out to be in the home of Savage, who imprisons the men and forces them to call the rest of the team. Kendra and Carter go after Savage, while the rest take on Savage's men. During the fight, Savage kills Carter with the dagger, revealing that only Kendra can wield it to kill him. Kendra is injured and the team is forced to retreat and plan a new strategy.

Ronnie and Professor Stein turn into Firestorm and destroy the singularity, but at the cost of Ronnie's life. Six months later, Barry is now working on his own to avoid hurting any more of his friends and family; Cisco works in the police department alongside Joe and his metahuman task force, and Caitlin works at Mercury Labs. The city holds a ceremony honoring the Flash for his work in saving the city where they give him the key to the city. At the ceremony they are attacked by Al Rothstein whose strength and size manipulation prove too much for Barry to handle on his own. He is convinced by Joe and the others that he needs help in taking down certain metahumans and Barry defeats Al by allowing him to absorb too much radiation. In his dying breath, Al tells Barry that he was sent to kill him by someone named Zoom. Barry also receives a hard drive from Eobard Thawne containing his confession to killing Nora that finally proves Barry's father's innocence. They throw a party where Henry tells Barry that he won't stay in Central City, thinking that it could hold back Barry's duty as the Flash.

Great chance to talk with 2 TV writer producers who are at the top of live action television and animation. Both will be at Long Beach Comicon this weekend and have great insight on the current superhero explosion television is experiencing. Writer- Exec Producer Marc Guggenheim talks about Arrow Flash. Given the success of both shows, it's no surprise that it was annouced this week that the characters Atom, Professor Stein and Black Canary are being devolped for their own future CW TV series. NOTE- This conversation took place before the announcement , but Marc did give insight about the success of introducing these new characters and in theory about expanding the DCU TV universe on The CW. Animation writer exec producer Greg Weissman looks back at Gargoyles, Young Justice, Spectacular Spider-Man, his current work with Star Wars Rebels, and the realities behind producing comic book/toy adaptaions for kids television.

After a big explosion, you have to be prepared for the "Fallout". Even though Professor Stein and Ronnie Raymond have now been separated, General Eiling will stop at nothing to get FIRESTORM and use it as a weapon. He should be easy for Flash to stop, right? Not so fast! He's got some secret weapons up his camouflaged sleeves. Jay and Josh get nuclear on this week's episode of Scarlet Velocity: A Flash Podcast!
Wow! What a ride! Chase Magnett, reviewer for comicbook.com, joins me this week to discuss Episode 14, Fallout. Firestorm's origin continues as Ronnie and Professor Stein get separated into their own bodies. Caitlin and Ronnie get a proper reunion. Iris starts to get suspicious. And in the last seconds we got another excellent tease of of everyone's favorite psychotic, telepathic gorilla! Music by Dani pe Net Twitter: @FlashFanatics Facebook: FlashFanatics
The STAR Labs crew tracks down Ronnie and learns that his body is actually being controlled by the late Professor Stein. Not only that, but Ronnie's cells are filled with energy making himself a ticking time bomb that the STAR Labs crew needs to diffuse before it's too late! We've also got a full dose of Flash Facts in this episode of Back in a Flash. Music by Dani pe Net Twitter: @FlashFanatics Facebook: FlashFanatics
