The mind is often a primary target for Satan's attacks. He seeks to plant seeds of negativity, including thoughts of abuse, jealousy, and even suicide. Remorse is another powerful emotion that Satan exploits, causing individuals to feel deep regret and sorrow. When someone experiences remorse, it can quickly transition to depression, among other things. This feeling can make that person a danger to society and themselves. We all experience periods of mental setbacks, so it is crucial to take care of our mental health. Therefore, never take pleasure in someone else's misfortune; ask God for forgiveness if you've been hurt and have unforgiving thoughts or actions. It's important to forgive the person who wronged you. If you have wronged someone, ask God for forgiveness and strive to change your ways to live a pleasing life to the Most High. Galatians 6:7 says, "Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow." Check out this week's episode! If you were standing in front of a Judge being tried for your actions - would you act with humility, or would you be obnoxious and rude? In what ways would your behavior impact the judge and his decision to punish you or to let you off the hook? Most of us know that one day we will stand before Allah, but what we don't realize is that our deeds are examined before the day of judgment. When is that day and how will you be seen in the court of the Almighty?

Colin Dexter was a splendid writer. His creation Inspector Morse is superb on the page and just as gripping on television. I used to meet Colin in the pub on Banbury Road in Oxford, The Dew Drop. He was great company and almost completely unaware of his success and star quality. I recorded this conversation in his house after the publication of The Remorseful Day. He was relaxed and very happy to look back at his life in education and crime writing.

Esther 6:12-14 ESV 12 Then Mordecai returned to the king's gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered. 13 And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not overcome him but will surely fall before him.” 14 While they were yet talking with him, the king's eunuchs arrived and hurried to bring Haman to the feast that Esther had prepared. REMORSEFUL BUT NOT REPENTANT The tide turned around completely between Mordecai and Haman. Mordecai removed his sackcloth and went back to the king's gate. On the other hand, Haman, having been extremely embarrassed, went to his house mourning and with his head covered. His world has been crushing down. And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. The once circle of proud boisterous pagans became a ‘pity party' for Haman. Then , these wise men, along with his wife Zeresh, said to him, “If indeed this Mordecai before whom you have begun to fall is Jewish, you will not prevail against him. No, you will surely fall before him!”[v. 13 NET] They realized Haman's big mistake. But, Haman was just sorry for not getting what he wanted. He was remorseful but not repentant. Remorse is primarily sorrowful for the consequences of our sins. Repentance is primarily sorrowful for sinning against the love and holiness of God. Remorse drives us away from God, leaving us feeling guilty and unchanged. As Paul explained, “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.”[2 Cor 7:10] We could fail God. God doesn't expect us not to slide and fail. However, should we sin, we should not only be remorseful but repentant. As David expressed, “For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”[Psa 51:16,17] ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

A bigtime plate of humble pie got served to me in a very embarrassing evening that was supposed to be a joyous occasion. I'm going deep here in the authentic department to share a not so fun situation where I learned (and still learning) some very valuable lessons. I'm not proud of this at all - but I wanted to share this lesson in being humble, to take your "medicine" when you do something wrong, when you need to fix things inside yourself for better things to happen, especially to help your relationships with those you love. Even as I type this, I am tearing up and knowing I have a lot of work to still do. Thanks once again for putting up with me and my journey through life. Thanks for listening. 'The Incarnation, Birth, and Infancy of Jesus Christ', written by St. Alphonsus Liguori, offers us a fascinating opportunity to reflect upon Jesus' childhood, and in a way that clearly emphasizes His humanity. As we go into Advent, this is a fantastic resource as we prepare for Jesus' birth! However, what I'd like to point you toward today is a very particular reflection, on a topic that can be so easily overlooked in our spiritual lives -- the impact that our sin has on God! Join us as we walk through ways we can better humble ourselves before God, and truly be remorseful for our sin, especially before receiving the Eucharist...
Your brain has a mind of its own and has one primary goal: to feel good. Did you know that your brain will control you subconsciously to do anything at all costs to avoid pain or displeasure? Your brain wants to feel happy, and happy feelings come from certain chemicals produced inside. Maybe you've heard of some of them: dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. Those chemicals get automatically triggered when you do something enjoyable. Other chemicals get automatically triggered when you do something…unenjoyable. Or painful. Or uncomfortable. Cortisol is what's known as a stress chemical, and your brain produces it to send a signal to the rest of your body that danger is close, so be on high alert- ready for a fight, or to run away, or to hide. It's a really useful chemical. But it doesn't feel good. And too much of it will make you feel worse and worse. Researchers have discovered that people feel physically and emotionally miserable when they experience those things. Even the IDEA of doing something unenjoyable triggers those unhappy chemicals. For example, the experience of being rejected by a friend is one of the most painful experiences anyone can have. Your brain is so keen on avoiding rejection that it can imagine scenarios and situations that might lead to feeling that awful feeling. It will anticipate people's reactions to things like your hair, your clothes, and the things you say, and before you even get around someone else, the chemical is already pumping. Remember, your brain wants to feel good and avoid feeling bad, but your brain can't do both at the same time—it has to prioritize one over the other. So, avoiding pain typically wins. Unfortunately, feeling good from the good chemicals gets turned off unless you become more aware of what's happening in your brain and become intentional. Here's where we get to the good news: Scientists have discovered that you can actually hack your brain system to be happier and healthier. You can choose to do certain activities to trigger happy chemicals to start flowing intentionally. We like to call them Natural Highs. A Natural High is an automatic response your brain has when you intentionally do something that you find enjoyable. Things like: Reading a good book Dancing to your favorite song Hanging out with your best friend Playing with your dog Practicing your guitar Riding your skateboard Telling a joke Creating a new video Baking chocolate chip cookies Bring a gift to a friend Going for a run Ironically, artificial substances can make you feel good, too. Certain substances like alcohol and drugs will flip a switch to turn off the bad chemicals and turn on the good. Unfortunately, they don't work for very long. On the one hand, the high doesn't last long. It expires. The uncomfortable feelings return. On the other hand, your brain gets tricked into believing it needs those substances to avoid feeling bad and feel good…all the time. Then, when the high stops making you feel good, most people feel…worse. Guilty. Remorseful. Maybe even rejected by their friends and family they love. Those are awful, miserable feelings, and since your brain has developed a pattern, it starts to believe that the only way to feel good again is…yep—more substances. It eventually reshapes how your brain functions and cuts off some of the critical developments your brain needs later in life, really important things like how to learn, make good decisions, stay motivated towards important goals, and connect with people you love. Back to the good news: you're in charge of how you feel more than you probably realize. By choosing to do something you enjoy, you feel more…joy. The more often and consistently you choose to do enjoyable activities, the more your brain will crave more…enjoyable activities. So here's the question: What brings you joy? What are your Natural Highs?

What is the difference between guilt, remorse, regret, and repentance? GUILT is a prison that will keep you perpetually bound and unchanged. REMORSE enslaves you in sorrow that engulfs you emotionally and leaves you feeling sad, depressed, hopeless, and unchanged. REGRET is self-pity that is focused more on your own personal loss than on the pain or loss you caused to others or to the heart of God, and it leaves you unchanged. REPENTANCE is a quality decision to change — and when genuine repentance occurs in a person's heart and mind, you can be sure the Holy Spirit will release His power to effect change in that person's life and lead him to freedom! Are there any areas in your life in which you have felt guilty, remorseful, or regretful — but unchanged? Could it be that you've never really made a firm decision to change, and that's why you've had no enduring victory in these areas of your life? If you've confused tears with repentance, now you know that you don't have to depend on your emotions to repent. If God is dealing with you about something that needs to change in your life, you can repent right now at this very moment, regardless of what you do or do not feel. God is waiting for you to make a decision!

Emotion overflowed in the first week of testimony as the court saw video that showed what happened before, during and after George Floyd's death. Bystanders testified that they wanted to do more to save the Minneapolis man. And Derek Chauvin's former Minneapolis police superior said kneeling on a handcuffed, prone person does not fall within training.
If someone is happy and received something that they did through hard work be happy for them.Do not bring someone else down because you are feeling sad and not productive.

Bible Transcript:. "When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death. And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor. Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it! ” Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. Matthew 27:1-5 NKJV

Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ”

We're talking about ghosts and earthly wealth today. Yeah, sometimes these'll get existential. I don't know what to tell you. Overthinking MTG is a podcast where our host, HamHocks42, takes a look at a random card from Magic: the Gathering and talks about it for at least 10 minutes. Often, though, he ends up yammering about whatever's on the top of his mind that the card reminds him of and a half hours passes and it turns out all he's done is share his thoughts on recent news related to Commander, Magic: the Gathering Arena, Modern, Pioneer, Standard, or humorous anecdotes from his kitchen table jank days. If you want to get involved, you can absolutely join the conversation or request specific cards over on Discord: https://discord.gg/yefBNBu Also, our host live streams on Twitch every weekday morning: https://www.twitch.tv/hamhocks42

A couple of reports from the courts yesterday got me thinking.First, the decision to let that Ponzi scheme low-life David Ross. This is the guy who robbed investors of more than $100 million and made out it was all a mistake. Not a whiff of remorse.Well, he's getting out early next year, more than four years has been cut off his sentence and you can bet your backside he's parked some of that cash, somewhere. He'll be sweet. Now, compare that to the case of Jayden Breakwell. This is the 18 year-old who failed to stop for police, got chased, crashed, and killed a 64 year-old man.He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and reckless driving, but he is trying to express his sorrow. Now you might have thought they were crocodile tears, but there were tears, he apologised to the victim's family and he admitted it was his fault. We're putting him away for almost three years. The question to me is, will we gain from that? Will putting an 18 year-old who truly seems to recognise he was stupid and reckless in prison and surrounding him with career criminals in a toxic environment actually serve society?I'm not for a minute suggesting there shouldn't be consequences. He refused to stop, got into a chase and ended up killing a man.But will prison make an 18 year-old who realises he was dumb and arrogant into a better person, a more useful and constructive member of society?Do we need protecting from him, more than we need protecting from a career crook?A man with an attitude of entitlement who deliberately and methodically preyed on the elderly, and who'd probably do it again if he got the chance?Just thinking out loud.
Most pencils are equipped with a device that enables forgiveness. Are you? When an apology has the word "if" in it, you're not really sorry. Remorseful people "know." Do you need to forgive someone who has hurt you? Write out your feelings on a piece of paper (if you can't directly contact the person); however, it's better to forgive them directly. Do you have anything to apologize for? Go do it! Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org Born to the nobility. Married to Euphrosyne, the daughter of a nobleman; the two led a pious life in the world. One day while hunting, Conrad ordered attendants to set fire to some brush in order to flush out the game. A strong wind carried the flames to nearby fields, forests, towns and villages, and Conrad fled in panic. An innocent peasant was imprisoned, tortured into a confession and condemned to death for the fire. Remorseful, Conrad stepped forward to confess, saving the man. He then paid for the damaged property, selling nearly all he owned in order to raise the cash. Conrad and his wife saw the hand of God in the dramatic events, and chose to give the poor everything they had left. They then separated, she to a Poor Clare monastery, he to a group of Franciscan tertiary hermits. Conrad lived such a life of piety that his reputation for holiness spread quickly. He had the gift of healing. Visitors destroyed his solitude, so he fled to a the valley of Noto, Italy in Sicily where he lived 36 years in prayer as a hermit. Legend says that when the Bishop of Syracuse visited him, the bishop asked if Conrad had anything to offers guests. Conrad said he would check in his cell. He returned carrying newly made cakes, which the bishop accepted as a miracle. Conrad returned the bishop‘s visit, and made a general confession to him. As he arrived, he was surrounded by fluttering birds, who escorted him back to Noto.
