Richard Estep on Fox Hollow Farm: Inside the Serial Killer's Mansion In this episode, we sit down with Richard Estep, paranormal investigator and author of The Horrors of Fox Hollow Farm, to explore one of America's most disturbing true crime stories. Fox Hollow Farm, located in Westfield, Indiana, was once the idyllic suburban estate of businessman Herb Baumeister. But in the 1990s, this home became the backdrop for a series of murders that shocked the Midwest. Young men from Indianapolis's gay community vanished without a trace, until investigators discovered the horrifying truth: the remains of at least 11 victims, and possibly 20 or more, scattered across the property. Baumeister's double life — successful entrepreneur by day, predator by night — unraveled in 1996 when police searched the estate. Shortly after, Herb fled to Canada and took his own life, leaving behind no confession and a chilling legacy. Richard Estep's book The Horrors of Fox Hollow Farm, co-written with current property owner Rob Graves, dives deep into both the true crime history and the paranormal phenomena reported at the estate. In our interview, Estep shares insights from his research and investigations: The chilling discoveries investigators made after Baumeister's death. Survivor accounts of Baumeister's attacks. The eerie activity reported by the Graves family and tenants who lived in the home after the murders. What Fox Hollow Farm teaches us about the lingering impact of violent crime. This conversation isn't just about hauntings—it's about the intersection of crime, psychology, and the shadows left behind at Fox Hollow Farm. Whether you're drawn to the true crime, the paranormal, or both, Estep's perspective sheds light on why this case continues to haunt investigators, families, and readers decades later. Meet Edward Wayne Edwards, the most evil serial killer you've never heard of. In this chilling case-by-case analysis and story of the killer's life, former detective John A. Cameron argues that Edwards was not only responsible for the five torture-murders he confessed to and was eventually convicted for, but for dozens more across the U.S., over decades. Tracing the murderer's life from his beginnings as a misguided boy who witnessed his mother's suicide, Cameron conducted hundreds of interviews, including exchanging phone calls and letters with the killer and interviewing his family. The result is a complex, terrifying, and fascinating analysis of Edwards' travels across the U.S. in the periods of his life: as a young itinerant handy man, an escaped fugitive on the run after a jailbreak, and of all things, an author on tour to promote a book about his life as a reformed criminal, followed years later by his arrest and confession. Each part of this haunting timeline is tied by Cameron to murder cases in the areas Edwards lived, based on his MO and his sick joy in taunting police, attending trials on the cases, and getting people wrongfully convicted for the murders he claims he did. These cases and ties include links to the famed Zodiac Killer, and more.https://amzn.to/41bnxU5Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

Investigation Discovery revisits one of the most sinister killers in recent history, Dean Corll, and features an in-depth interview with his accomplice, Elmer Wayne Henley Jr., marking the first time Henley has spoken about his crimes in over 50 years.Speak with Renowned Criminologist, Dr. Katherine Ramsland who dives into the mind and memory of Henley – and what motivated him to act as Corll's accomplice in what was known as the largest mass murder in US history at the time.Infamously known as “The Candyman Killer”, Dean Corll stalked the streets of Houston, Texas in the early to mid 1970s luring and brutally killing at least 28 young men. Corll operated largely undetectably for years due not only to his unassuming nature in the community, but largely because of the help he received by two young accomplices – Elmer Wayne Henley Jr. and David Brooks. However, in 1973, Henley fatally shot Corll and subsequently confessed to their crimes, leading authorities to Corll's burial ground to recover the victims' bodies. Decades later, Henley speaks now for the first time in 50 years with Dr. Ramsland, offering unprecedented and chilling insight into what led to his complicities in Corll's crimes. Featuring conversations between Dr. Ramsland and Henley from the 60 hours they spoke, THE SERIAL KILLER'S APPRENTICE will offer a wholistic portrait of Henley, his psyche, and the tragedy that still lingers in Houston, Texas following Corll's reign of terror. In addition to Dr. Ramsland bringing extensive experience to unpacking Henley's accomplice and master dynamic with Corll, the docuseries will also offer access to expansive archival footage and insight from victim's loved ones, local authorities, and journalists who are still unpacking the extent of Corll's crimes decades later. This week, in Largo, Maryland, a quiet suburb is shaken, when multiple murders occur, including 2 different pairs of mother/daughters. Both mothers were nurses, and both daughters were teens. An FBI profiler says that none are connected, but the local cops believe it's a serial killer. One crazy break opens up the floodgates of evidence, connecting to a series of home invasions & murders, with some seriously disturbing videos, showing even more depravity!! Along the way, we find out that technically, you can ride a pig, but it doersn't seem like a good idea, that no matter how secure your home is, there is always someone willing to go the extra mile to kill, and that if things seem too weird to be just coincidence, they probably aren't!! Lindsie orders a new washer to fulfill the need of washing everything all the time, which is kind of goals but also concerning. The conversation about Jackson's graduation party leads to coparenting talk and Lindsie still stands by her stance that she'll always make sure her and Will are on the same page for Jackson's sake. A viral story about people going missing in Atlanta after going to an Indeed job posting might be a hoax, but a report about nurses developing brain tumors at a hospital in Massachusetts is very much concerning. They also discuss a father who was found not guilty of manslaughter after accidentally running over his son with a tractor. Lastly, Lindsie and Kristen share their thoughts on the importance of self-care and the struggle to prioritize rest over "hustling"Thank you to our sponsors!Cash App: Download Cash App Today - https://capl.onelink.me/vFut/e2o0vzbq #CashAppPodAs a Cash App partner, I may earn a commission when you sign up for a Cash App account. What began as a typical game day celebration for University of Idaho students would end in unimaginable horror on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Xana Kernodle, a marketing junior, spent the day with friends, including her boyfriend Ethan Chapin and housemates Dylan, Bethany, Kaylee and Maddie at their shared home on 1122 King Road. After parties and celebrations, the group returned home in the early hours of Sunday morning. At around 4am, Dylan heard disturbing sounds. When she cracked her door open, Dylan saw a masked man with bushy eyebrows holding what looked like a vacuum cleaner. The next day, when upstairs roommates wouldn't answer their phones, friends discovered the bodies of Xana, Ethan, Kaylee and Maddie - all brutally stabbed to death. Vicky Ward, co-author of The Idaho Four: An American Tragedy, joins Claire to explore this devastating case. You can find her book here. Known as the "Vampire Rapist" or "Strangler Bill" for his distinctive modus operandi, Wayne Boden would rape, strangle, and bite the breasts of his victims. His rampage would continue in two cities over three years, only caught by superior evidence-gathering and the help of an orthodontist. The book asks the question, "How do we really know our boyfriend or lover when we either don't want to ask the questions not only because we don't want to know the answers for what it will tell us about them, but because of what it tells us about ourselves?"True crime author Alan R. Warren takes you through the details of the case including the dental impressions used in court to convict Boden, a first in Canadian history, as well as Boden's escape from a maximum-security prison. This book is available in Kindle, paperback, and audiobook editions on Amazon.https://amzn.to/4oqaJmVBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

***Make sure to listen for a special announcement about an informational meeting we will be having on August 19 to discuss our trip to Italy. Go to ourtruecrimepodcast.com to register for the zoom meeting.*** Thirteen-year-old Danny Joe Eberle didn't want to get up that morning. It was far too early, and like any kid his age, he just wanted to stay curled beneath the covers. But duty called—just as it had every morning before. It was 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 18, 1983, when Danny Joe dragged himself out of bed, dressed quietly, and slipped out the door. Alongside his older brother, he delivered newspapers. He pedaled into the gray morning light and made his usual stop at the corner convenience store to pick up the day's bundle of Omaha World-Herald newspapers. Like he always did, Danny sat in the parking lot, rolling each newspaper tightly and stuffing it into his canvas bag. What Danny Joe didn't know was that someone was watching. Danny Joe made three stops, three familiar porches in a neighborhood he knew like the back of his hand. And then, the deliveries stopped. So did Danny Joe.
