In addition to this, the show has reportedly offered Anthony Mackie the lead role of John, while Kumail Nanjian was once considered as well. * Chapelle show - The New York Times Last fall, Dave Chappelle asked his fans to boycott his old Comedy Central sketch show, “Chappelle’s Show,” in order to put pressure on ViacomCBS to rectify his grievances over a contract he signed as a young comedian, and prominent streaming services agreed to pull the show at his request. The tactic seems to have worked. As a result of that public pressure, Chappelle, in a video posted early Friday on his Instagram, said he was paid “millions of dollars.” And “Chappelle’s Show” is now returning to Netflix and HBO Max. “When you stopped watching it, they called me,” Chappelle, 47, said in the clip. “And I got my name back, and I got my license back, and I got my show back, and they paid me millions of dollars. Our awesome producer here in the Afternoons, Josh, has done something pretty radical for him: He's vowed to give up sports for an entire year, but it's probably not for the reason you think! Here's what he had to say when he took to his social media:"So this is crazy for me, but I’m just going to go for it. Starting February 1st, I’m quitting sports for 1 whole year in search of a more intentional life. From February 1st, 2021 to February 1st 2022, I’m avoiding sports all together. A sabbatical of sorts.This includes the NBA (Mavericks), MLB (Rangers), NFL (Cowboys), NHL (Stars), and my new found love of the WNBA (Wings). Also the NFL, NBA, and MLB draft. *contemplates this decision as I’m writing this* Really trying to go cold turkey. For anyone who knows me, you know sports is one of the biggest things in my life and has been for as long as I can remember. Sports has the unique ability to allow us to escape from real life for a while and be unified in our favorite teams, but I need to prove to myself that I don’t NEED sports to be happy. I’m excited/scared/nervous for the days ahead. My hope is that you’ll join me in prayer that the Lord will honor this time and provide sweet opportunities to be more intentional and present in what is around me.But in the meantime, my plan is to pursue deepened relationships with not only my friends, but to be more present at home with my wife and my little girl. I’ve been able to feel myself missing memories being made because I was so wrapped up in being mad at the Mavericks

Episode 261: Leading Through The Eyes of Your Intrinsic Self I am bringing you therapeutic resources throughout this already intense year, so you and those you lead can face reality at every turn. Because we are in unprecedented times, it is impossible to process everything all at once. Right? Look at the list. The pressure and stress with running our businesses and managing our lives are still ever-present and intense. We are in the middle of a forest with the COVID-19 pandemic, which means our lives and our children’s lives are far from normal. Grieving the loss of over 400,000 people in the United States alone. We are exhausted, and unclear of the speed vaccines will be rolled out. We are recovering collectively from the attack on our United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. We are adjusting to a new administration ushered in with the memorable Inauguration of President Joseph R. Bidon, Jr. and V.P. Kamala Harris last week. And on and on: growing inequity, systemic racism, its effects, climate crisis, etc. We plan to move steadily with you through it all with meaningful conversations. Listening to how others are working their way through these times validates your experiences, can spark coping ideas, and facilitate an attitude adjustment when needed and necessary for self-growth. But does it aim high enough? Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s businesses are hurting, big time. And his creditors will soon come knocking for $300 million – or more – that he owes. And lastly, the Biden administration is calling a halt to deportations while they figure out what’s going on at the Homeland Security Department. It’s a big relief for immigrant families. THESE ARE THE STORIES YOU NEED TO KNOW: The new message from the White House is that things may get worse before they get better, but help is on its way. President Joe Biden used his first full day in office yesterday to go on the offensive against the coronavirus, the New York Times reports. He promised to make aggressive use of executive power to tame the worst public health crisis in a century. In a two hundred-page document called the National Strategy for the Covid-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness, the new administration outlines the kind of centralized federal response that Democrats have long demanded and Donald Trump refused. To carry it out, Biden signed a dozen executive actions in an afternoon White House ceremony. The Biden plan is in some respects overly optimistic and in others a little timid, according to the Times. His promise to inject one hundred million vaccines in his first hundred days is aiming low, since those hundred days should see twice that number of doses available. Because the approved coronavirus vaccines require two doses, Biden is promising only to vaccinate fifty to seventy million Americans. Biden bristled when a reporter asked if the goal should be higher. He said QUOTE Come on, give me a break, man ENDQUOTE. The Biden team has been quick to point fingers at the Trump administration’s failures, the Times reports. Jeff Zients, the new White House Covid-19 response coordinator, said QUOTE What we’re inheriting is so much worse than we could have imagined. The cooperation or lack of cooperation from the Trump administration has been an impediment. We don’t have the visibility that we would hope to have into supply and allocations ENDQUOTE. Fair enough, but the new administration can’t expect a long honeymoon. Biden himself acknowledged that the death toll will probably top five hundred thousand next month. Trump Businesses Bleeding Revenue Soon we’ll be able to take a break from covering Donald Trump, but this story is too juicy to pass up. According to the Associated Press, Trump is returning to a family business ravaged by pandemic restrictions. Revenue is plunging more than forty percent at his Doral golf property, his Washington hotel and both his Scottish resorts. Trump’s financial disclosure released as he left office this week was just the latest bad news for his empire. It came after banks, real estate brokerages and golf organizations announced they were cutting ties with his company following the storming of the Capitol. The disclosure showed sizable debt facing the company of more than $300 million, much of it coming due in the next four years, the AP reports. The disclosure report shows only revenue figures, not profits, but the hit to Trump’s business appeared widespread. The National Doral Golf Club outside of Miami took in $44.2 million in revenue, a drop of $33 million from 2019. The Trump International Hotel in Washington, once buzzing with lobbyists and diplomats, generated just $15.1 million in revenue, down more than sixty percent. Trump’s Turnberry club in Scotland took in less than $10 million, down more than sixty percent. Revenue at the family’s golf club in Aberdeen also dropped by roughly the same proportion. The financial blow from former business partners cutting ties to Trump could be sizable, the AP says. The PGA of America canceled a tournament at Trump’s Bedminster club in New Jersey. Several banks said they would no longer lend to the company. And New York City said it would be canceling contracts with the company, including those running skating rinks and a golf club in the Bronx. Revenue at that course, the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, fell twenty percent last year to $6.4 million. Maybe he should downsize. Try mini golf. Homeland Security Pauses Deportations The Biden administration has ordered US immigration agencies to focus their energies on threats to national security and public safety, the Washington Post reports. The policy shift ends a four-year stretch during the Trump administration that exposed anyone in the United States without papers to deportation. Acting Homeland Security Secretary David Pekoske issued a memo hours after Biden’s inaugural setting strict limits for arresting and deporting immigrants while the department reviews its policies. He also imposed an immediate hundred-day pause on many deportations, to take effect no later than today. Pekoske is in charge as the Senate considers the nomination of Alejandro Mayorkas, the former deputy DHS secretary during the Obama administration, according to the Post. The memo is the first step in a broader plan to find a different solution for the eleven million undocumented immigrants in the US, many of whom are essential workers, have lived here for years and have children who are citizens. Congress has not passed a major citizenship bill since 1986. Biden has unveiled legislation that would allow millions to apply for citizenship. The Post says that during the review period, DHS said it will impose sensible priorities for enforcing civil immigration laws. Starting February 1st, immigrants eligible for deportation will fall into three categories: National security threats, such as spies or terrorists; border crossers who arrived on or after November 1st; and aggravated felons currently serving time for crimes such as murder or drug trafficking, after they are released from prison. Immigrants who voluntarily waive their rights to remain in the US, after seeking legal counsel, may be deported. Biden has said it was a QUOTE big mistake ENDQUOTE to deport as many people as the Obama administration did. Biden will announce additional immigration actions on January 29th. This country is desperate for sanity on immigration. Maybe we’ll finally get it. AND NOW FOR SOME QUICKER QUICKIES: Two suicide bombers detonated explosive vests in a crowded market in central Baghdad yesterday morning, killing at least thirty-two people in the biggest such attack in several years, according to the New York Times. ISIS eventually claimed responsibility, although it’s supposedly been defeated. The Washington Post reports that Lieutenant General Charles Flynn, the brother of disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn, was involved in a key meeting during the US Army’s response to the US Capitol insurrection. What’s more, the Army falsely denied this fact for days. How strange! Maybe Congress will figure it out. The Biden administration fired the National Labor Relations Board’s general counsel, Peter Robb, on Wednesday night, ending the tenure of a figure seen as a foe by worker advocates and labor unions, according to the Post. Biden will now need to nominate a replacement, who must receive Senate confirmation. May we suggest Scabby the Rat? Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is proposing to give former Donald Trump two weeks to prepare his legal case for his second impeachment trial, Politico reports. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not yet transmitted the article of impeachment to the Senate, but said yesterday she would do so QUOTE soon ENDQUOTE. Let’s get it over and done. TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan Michelle Hurd on Raffi, Stewart, and Sir Patrick Star Trek and its cultural importance is not lost on one of its newest stars, Michelle Hurd. The veteran actress, who plays Raffi in Star Trek Picard, understands what the iconic series means to its fans in a very personal way. During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the 53 year old Hurd recalls her memories of watching the Original series with her father, actor Hugh Hurd. ”It was really important [to my dad] that we see ourselves represented in the arts. So literally, when I got the job, I was like: 'Oh my god — Uhura was literally involved in the first biracial kiss ever on television. The first woman of color, in a position of power, on a TV show like this. So when you think about the stories that were told [on The Original Series], using aliens and sci-fi to tell stories with themes like inclusion and immigration, I absolutely acknowledge and own my role in it. I'm so excited about it” Hurd went on to mention her joy in playing Raffi, a flawed character in an organization like Starfleet. ”not only am I a woman of color, but I can tell that story about all of us who have struggled similarly. Who have some demons. And, in doing so, show that — not all of us are bad people. We're all out here trying to do our best. We're all human beings, with stories worth telling.” Evan Evagora talks Elnor, Stewart, and Frakes In “Star Trek: Picard”’s fourth episode,  “Absolute Candor”, we are introduced to the latest addition of the Rag-Tag group of rogues - the young, angsty warrior-hero - Luke Sky… ...wait-a-minute… Elnor. Elnor actor Evan Evagora sat down with SyFyWire to discuss his role on the series, and how some of Trek’s most important stars eased him into the franchise. Of  Elnor, the young sheltered Romulan warrior raised by a group of Romulan warrior-priestesses, Evagora says ”He's like a moody teenager, but every time he snaps, he has the potential to kill someone. That's how I played him. What if a moody teenager could just do whatever he wants whenever he flips out?” Evagora  recalled that, much like his character Elnor, he set off on an unprecedented adventure when he left his home in Melbourne Australia for Las Angeles California - and like the Romulan swordsman, he had wise guides. The young actor recalled his introduction to the series lead and Hollywood icon, Sir Patrick Stewart, saying The first time I met Patrick Stewart, I was terrified. It was the worst first meeting. And my first day of filming I was sooo nervous. Patrick took me aside because he could see the nervousness in me. But it's not like he told me a story about being nervous or anything like that. He has this way of making you feel at ease. Him and Jonathan Frakes, they’re very similar that way. They make you feel comfortable on the set. And when you’re comfortable, you can really lose yourself in the moment and the character.” Jeri Ryan’s Return! “Absolute Candor”’s final, and arguably most exciting reveal, was the reintroduction of Seven of Nine? The Hollywood Reporter took the opportunity to catch up with Seven’s real-life-counterpart, Jeri Ryan to discuss what’s changed, and what’s stayed the same, since her last Star Trek appearance. Ryan commented on the difference between UPN’s “Star Trek: Voyager” and CBS ALL ACCESS’ “Star Trek: Picard”, saying ”The scale of these sets, the costumes, it’s crazy. It’s like you’re doing a feature film every week.[...]In one of my scenes, where I had to go in and work a console, we go in for the first rehearsal and I had to touch buttons and the screen actually does something! And I totally flipped out, like: ‘Oh my god, actually having buttons that work!” Though Ryan is no stranger to  trek, she still had first day jitters, telling the Hollywood Reporter ”My first scene, the big scene, was the one you see in the trailer, when we’re in his office/ready room. That was my first day on set. It was daunting — not just because it was Patrick — but because I was still petrified — or ‘Patrick-fied’ — of if I could find the character again. I was still trying to figure out who she was.” Though she was “Patrick-fied”, another TNG alumnus helped ease her back into the role. ”I was so fortunate because Jonathan Frakes was directing my first episode. So with that, I knew I was in good hands. [Frakes], more than anyone else, would get the importance of revisiting and being true to these characters. Because the challenge for me is: Where has she been for nearly 20 years? Finding her voice was the hardest thing for me; when I read the first script — I just couldn’t hear her voice anywhere.” LeVar Burton For Picard Season 2? Is your favorite “Next Generation” character making an appearance on “Star Trek: Picard”. If your favorite is Geordie, LeVar Burton has good money on it. At least that’s what he told Straight.com, or The Georgia Straight, during a call from Vancouver’s FanExpo. Burton said ”Star Trek has always been one of the most positive and hopeful visions for the future of humanity, and for that reason, among others, I've always embraced it.” before offering his predictions regarding a Picard/LaForge reunion. ”I'm not a betting man, but I would wager good money that you'll probably see all of the Next Gen cast at some point or another, just not all at the same time. Besides, I understand that Hugh Borg [Jonathan Del Arco] is very, very prominent in Picard. And, you know, Geordi gave him his name. I think we’ll have to explore that at some point.” Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Shane Hoover Steam Accounts Get Linked To ARC Accounts Arc Games has announced a new feature aimed at making life easier for its players who use Steam for their gaming. Previously, in order to play Star Trek Online or Neverwinter through Steam, a player would have to navigate multiple layers of login screens. First you had to login to Steam, then you had to login to an Arc account to get into the game. Starting February 18th for a few users, and expanding to all users by February 20th, Steam users will be able to link their Steam account to their Arc account.  After launching the game and providing your Arc account credentials, the accounts will automatically be linked. Once the process is complete, players will only need to authenticate to Steam to get into either Star Trek Online or Neverwinter. Abraham Lincoln Costume Giveaway For a brief time this past week, Star Trek Online was giving away a new cross-faction costume based on its 10th anniversary celebrations. From February 13th to February 17th, all players were able to claim “The Emancipator” costume. As seen in-game on the 16th President of the United States, this costume gives players tailor options for the Long Coat, Bowtie, and Top Hat. From dapper top-hatted Gorn to brightly colored circus ringmasters to whimsical looking Borg drones, it seems like hats and tails are everywhere right now.   Notable PC Patch Changes This week saw a number of systems improvements appear in the weekly Patch Notes for PC players. The Ship Vendor UI was updated to provide additional details on the effects of ship scaling on ship statistics, as well as a new indicator for any current ship mastery progress.  Similarly, the player Drydock UI now displays whether you’ve completed a docked ship’s mastery. The development team has also opened up the Kelvin Timeline Constitution starship to use all standard Federation bridges.  Hero Collector’s Awaited STO Ships Coming In May If you remember late last year, Hero Collector announced two upcoming ship models based on Star Trek Online - the Gagarin-Class Federation Battlecruiser and the Chimera-Class Federation Heavy Destroyer. Well, StarTrek.com and Hero Collector have officially announced that these new ships will become available in May. Each ship will be priced at $22.95. If you haven’t added STO to your ship collection already, these ships are a great chance to get started. EVENTS Captains on Consoles won’t have long to wait before they can join in the 10th Anniversary celebrations. To begin, use the Event UI itself to instantly transwarp you to Q’s location on ESD. After Q assigns you three random space or ground locations to scan Omega Particles, use more free transwarps to get you there faster. Just take a few minutes to pick up some game missions that begin in systems where Omega Particles appear. Then, when a location appears in your Omega Event list, you can use the mission hailing UI to transwarp immediately to that system. Just remember to leave the mission right away so it’s not removed from your active mission list. Here are a few of the systems you can reach this way, and which episode or optional mission arc will get you there. SilverScript has brought it to our attention that there has been an issue with Medicare Part D’s billing. For those you that do not know, SilverScript is a Medicare Part D drug plan which is through CVS Caremark. They have brought it to our attention that anyone that selected to have their premium drafted for their Medicare Part D drug plan from their Social Security check or Railroad Retirement check may not have had the premiums drafted properly. They found that the issue with the premiums started February 1st. We do not know any information as to how the problem started or who was affected by this issue. Most people may not have noticed due to the fact that the premiums are fairly low. This issue has not affected everyone however it has affected all carriers. SilverScript will be sending out information in the next two weeks explaining where the mistake was made with how your premiums were processed. Starting February 1st 2019, Medicare Part D premiums were not being taken out properly. They have since identified the problem and have fixed it; however, their systems are not allowing them to go back and take back premiums. Do not be alarmed if you receive a notification in the mail from your Medicare Part D provider in the next 2 to 4 weeks that’s going to share with you more details on what happened with their systems and how they have since corrected the issues. They are also going to include an invoice for the premiums and you will need to mail a check directly to your provider. Do NOT send it to Medicare or your agent or broker. You must be on the look out for this notification because if your Medicare Part D provider sends this invoice and receives no payment, they will consider your Medicare Part D plan in default and they will term or cancel your plan. This will not affect your Medicare Supplement premiums in any way. These two plans are totally separate and it will not affect your coverage or your premiums. Those are safe. That's left a lot of developers scrambling to get themselves set up in time. Because… Connect wants unique IDs for every service. That means, even if you don’t have or work for a company, it’s quite possible you may have an iTunes and App Store account, iCloud account, developer account, Apple Books account, Apple Podcast account. And if you do work or contract for a company or several, maybe more than one of some of those. Hell, I do. WDW Opinion Ep. 30 - Our Ultimate Day at Walt Disney World A few weeks ago we told you about a new tour coming to Walt Disney world. The 12 hour tour could accommodate up to six guests and would run $12,000. We questioned the reasoning behind it as it was made to seem like a simple VIP tour with unlimited FastPass+ and the ability to eat anywhere on Disney Property. For that alone the price is not worth it at all. But we are slowly starting to hear that the way Disney was describing the tour was merely just options you could select from. What this tour actually is, is an open book of sorts. Meaning if you ever wanted to experience something at Disney World or do something at Disney World that is typically off limits then this is the tour where Disney could make it happen for you. Maybe you’ve always wanted to get a tour backstage or walk through an attraction before it opens, maybe you even want to meet a certain Disney Cast Member. This tour can make almost anything happen, within reason and time constraints. Once booked Disney will work with you to try and get all of your requests squared away. This got us thinking, what would our ultimate Disney Day be? If we could, what would we do to take advantage of this tour. How would we break it out and what events would our ultimate Disney day consist of? That’s what we’re going to share in this segment.
