Episode 313: It can be difficult to navigate the delicate nuance of balancing conscious masculine energy with thoughtfulness and consideration for your partner's (and your own) feminine energy. Men lose credibility with women often through not be present to the needs of their partners. Join Madelyn as she discusses the ways men lose credibility with the women in their lives, as a guest on Dominick Quartuccio's & Bryan Stacy's The Great Man Within Podcast. Show Notes: The Great Man Within Podcast can be found here: https://www.doinnerwork.com/podcast Bryan & Dominick focus on spiritualizing healthy divine masculinity in proper balance with the feminine. Dominic was on the podcast, Episode 283: Making Your Love Darker and Your Goals Lighter - maddymoon.com/dominick-quartuccio A free companion PDF to this episode is available - maddymoon.com/freegift The five ways men lose credibility: Hesitation, a man who wants to lead and is a little bit afraid. If her belief is that she can't trust the masculine, to prove her wrong, do it with fervor. Don't ignore her concerns - listen and hear. Lead strongly and with conviction. Lack of integrity on what you can and cannot handle. Make the space for yourself and your needs, so that you can fulfill those needs and be present when you're with your partner. Not following through. If you have wounds about someone not being there when you needed it are so easily reopened by not being available when you are needed, but conversely can also be healed by simply being present. Respect both your time and the time of your partner. Failing to go unconscious in transitions. The moment your bodies are no longer connected after sex, can your keep your spiritual connection? Defending yourself rather than listening to her. The feminine has been shushed, poked, prodded, limited, beaten, sold, raped, separated, mutilated, and silenced since the beginning of humankind. When you listen to her and start to change the paradigm of how these interactions go, you are healing the feminine." When you partner is presenting you with a complaint, search for where they are right. Episode 242: Madelyn Moon speaks a great deal about the Divine Feminine and Masculine energies...but what do these two energies truly represent? And more specifically, what is the masculine? There are so many misconceptions out there about what the Divine Masculine looks and feels like. Madelyn explains why the Divine Masculine is not about obsessive hustle and aggression in this episode. In this podcast series, Maddy Moon will be diving into the Divine Feminine, Divine Masculine and Polarity in Relationships, one podcast at a time. If you've been yearning to learn how to tap into this Yin/Yang, Moon/Sun, Alpha/Omega and Shiva/Shakti energy... this is the perfect series to tune into. Join B-School here: http://share.marieforleobschool.com/stlNH An update with her relationship with Matt. Why January had feminine energy and February had masculine energy for Maddy. One of the top priorities in our lives is foundation/stability. What is the toxic masculine and what is the pure masculine? Water (feminine energy) needs something to be able to be contained. The container represents the masculine energy so the feminine can flow. River analogy to explain feminine and masculine energy. Masculine is presence and depth. It’s the part of you that’s never changed. The beautiful bright light that is in the center of your chest. This light is always there - it does not change. It’s like God - it’s so deep. Masculine is the lack of movement — it’s meditation; logic; structure. Why people get confused with masculine energy. “The pure masculine is not obsessive hustle.” Why we're confusing men with the masculine. “We need to do this work to realize that the masculine energy is not scary.” Whoever in the partnership who is in the masculine space needs to be able to hold the feminine energy. Whoever is feeling the most is in the feminine and whoever is in the depth is in the masculine. Direction on how to come together with these energies and how you can harness this energy for yourself. Sometimes when we’re raised by harsh fathers, we confuse the masculine for being harsh. How we can heal our masculine views. Our masculine is responsible for showing us what we need. How meditation, acro yoga and breathing can help heal our masculine. Episode 239: Madelyn Moon speaks a great deal about the Divine Feminine and Masculine energies...but what do these two energies truly represent? And more specifically, what is the feminine? How do we feel it on a daily basis? How do we know when we are in alignment with our feminine? How do we "step into" our feminine when we are feeling extra masculine? Is it safe or acceptable to be in our feminine if we are working in a male-dominated workplace or society? These are all great questions that Maddy gets asked on a regular basis. Let us know your key takeaways by commenting below! Show notes: What the feminine is and what it is not. The feminine is energy — the flow; the movement. Water as an analogy for feminine energy. The toxic versions of feminine energy: victimhood, powerless, weak, manipulative, needy, withholding, overly emotional, co-dependent, jealous. Why you should “reveal your heart” and what this means. Underneath the toxic femininity is a longing and processing grief. “The feminine is chaos.” Some people are born with a masculine physical body but with feminine emotional body or vice versa. Why Maddy Moon thinks that you most likely do not have as much masculine energy as you think you do, but rather because you’re raised in a world with masculine energy. Why we want to be in our femininity energy. “Use your body to move slower.” To get a list of my top 100 favorite books FOR FREE, go here: https://maddymoon.com/freegift To get a free 30-day trial of Audible + 1 free book, go here: http://audibletrial.com/mindbodymusings Learn more about how to connect to this sacred goddess energy at one of my retreats: https://maddymoon.com/events Connect with Maddy: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/madelynmoon/ Mind Body Musings Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/mind-body-musings-podcast/id866031519?mt=2 Coaching: https://maddymoon.com/coaching/ Get your free gift >> Maddy's 100+ Favourite Books List: https://maddymoon.com/freegift [Tweet "When was the last time you connected with your sacred goddess energy? #mindbodymusings #podcast"] {RETREAT} The Feminine Surrender: A Weekend Haven for Restoring Trust, Love and Expression is approaching. Episode 222: You may have learned somewhere along the way of life that showing your emotions is not safe. Maybe you were told by your father, ex boyfriend or friends that you were “too sensitive” repeatedly. Maybe there were whispers that you were some “crazy chick” who cried about everything. Maybe you were told to not be so emotional all the time. These comments, especially directed at us in childhood, can cause resistance in our entire spectrum of emotions as we get older. What happens is, you may start to naturally feel sad but you fight it off, doing everything you can to not be that “emotional girl” and you hide away your heart’s truth, confusing yourself and making everyone around you worried that they can't trust you to share how you really feel. When you hide away your emotions, you are hiding away your intuition. The same woman who often tells me she doesn’t know what she likes anymore is the same women who gets mad at herself when she’s having a very “emotional day.” Ironic, yes? If you want to feel what a “yes” is in your body and what a “no” is, you MUST feel your feelings. This is how you become closer to what feels like expansion versus contraction. Both your emotions and your intuition are ways your body speaks to you— but you cannot have one without the other. THIS is what “the feminine flow” really is. Why your emotions move you deeper into the divine feminine. “Your relationship to your emotions is your relationship to knowing who you are and what you want.” Where “too emotional” comes from. How our nervous system is affected when sometimes tells us we’re “too emotional.” An explanation of the first stage masculine - very unconscious. Netflix Trailer: Hannah Gadsby Nanette The two most popular complaints that I hear. “When you cut off your emotions because of these negative stories and limiting beliefs, you cut off your intuition.” Your emotions and your intuition are both related to your heart space and your gut. Why we complicate everything when we don’t allow ourselves to feel. The masculine is essentially consciousness — the constant. The feminine is essentially energy — the flow. Why we risk more when we’re younger. How trauma is created and how it can be released. What do you do when people around you don’t like your emotions? Why it’s important to look at how you show your emotions. Why the masculine feels that the feminine can’t be trusted. Why the feminine feels that the masculine can’t handle us. The importance of revealing how you feel and how this makes you more trustable to the masculine. "We reveal how we feel to people who we feel safe with." "The more we help each other feel safe, the more we feel safe." One of the most important questions to ask your partner. “If you’re not connected to your heart, it is abuse.” “Sharing and revealing is the healing.” Connect with Maddy: Facebook (and/or “follow” my profile HERE) Instagram Mind Body Musings Podcast Coaching Get your free gift >> Maddy's 100+ Favourite Books List HERE [Tweet "Who taught you that being "too emotional" was a bad thing? #mindbodymusings"] {COACHING} Desire to create an online business with your passion for helping others? Episode 200: It's evident in our society that women have been exposed to two extremes with their sexuality, both which lead to sexual shame: exploitation and repression. The media has been exploiting women's sexuality for decades as a way to diminish and demean its true power down to a crisp. As a result: men have treated unmet desires with violence and ownership, women have used their bodies as a form of manipulation to get what they want/don't want, and sex has been involved in the marketing of just about everything from cars to perfumes to food. We have been constantly reminded in commercials, movies and ads what a woman's sexuality should look like...but absolutely nothing about what it feels like. On the other hand, many of us across the world have had our sexuality repressed from a lineage of unhealthy relationships with sexuality or through religion. In many religions, a woman's sexuality is her most prized possession and once it's "taken" it cannot be replenished. Again, there is too much focus on what sex should look like (in this case, within the context of marriage), but not enough on what it feels like. When young girls learn at an early age that men only want them for their bodies and they must hide away their sexuality to stay safe, they grow up with trust issues not only with others but certainly with themselves. They want to hide away their sexuality, avoid eye contact, use body manipulation (binge eating or starving) as tactics to feel in control, and they lose their ability to stay present with another human, especially when being intimate. Most importantly, they lose touch with what a "yes" really feels like and what a "no" really feels like...within the bedroom and the real world. I believe it's time we dive deep into these topics on the Mind Body Musings Podcast. Show notes: Why it's so important we collectively decide to promote not only body positivity in our families, but also sex positivity. “Do not cause a man to stumble.” Growing up in a conservative Christian household, I was told this biblical verse a lot. Unfortunately, the only context in which I remember it is in regards to my feminine body. Some examples of how my negative relationship with sexuality were reinforced growing up, including: having signed contracts in my closet and bedroom, the massive pile of Christian dating books blocking my doorway and the True Love Waits Program. One of the reasons why many women have held back from speaking about their experience with sexual abuse is because of their inner thoughts like "I asked for it" and for feeling responsible for what was done to them. When you are taught as a young girl that you are in control of a man "stumbling" (and it's your responsibility to ensure he doesn't) you begin to think that it's truly your fault when you experience advances. Backpedaling: speaking your truth and then taking it back out of fear. My first real relationship was with a man who was insecure with his body and constantly projected his own unhealthy sexuality onto me. The story of my first kiss when I was 13 year olds and how it ended with me bawling in the garage out of shame and fear. We are doing sexual healing for hundreds of generations-- not just ourselves. This is why this work is so big. Sexuality is directly linked to creativity. When you stifle one, you stifle the other. Why it's time to come together as men and women to build something together (listen to the episode I did with Josh Trent about this HERE) "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" >> Why this kind of language is so detrimental to everyone's ability to trust. Body manipulation / disordered eating is directly related to your relationship with your sexuality. A few things you can begin to do to heal your sexual shame. Episode 169: In today's episode of the Mind Body Musings Podcast, I'm going to dive into a topic that has yet to be shared on the show. I want to talk about the process of grief- and more specifically, grieving your idea of what could have been...not the reality. You see, many times we can go through traumatic experiences and cling on to what we thought we could have had "if only" this, this and this didn't happen. And it's these thoughts that lead us to feel guilty. "If only I didn't mess up in this way" or "If only I had known better." On the flip side, we may feel guilty not because we wish we would have worked harder, but we feel guilty for being "stupid" enough to fall into a bad relationship in the first place. Have you been in an emotionally abusive relationship in your past or possibly the present? If so, I'm guessing you know what I'm talking about. Episode 124: In this episode of the Mind Body Musings Podcast, I'm going to teach you 6 ways to manifest what it is that you want. Dreaming of a supportive relationship? Desire to move to New York City? Find yourself day dreaming about a promotion? Know you're capable of more but you're feeling "stuck" in your career, relationship and finances? Manifestation, or The Law of Attraction, is a practice in which you do your part to meet the universe halfway. A common misconception is that with manifestation you just sit around and do nothing but think about a brand new car. Meh, that's not really the case. You have to work both on your mindset and your actions. As you think, visualize and concentrate on what it is that you want, you will cultivate a positive energy that will, in return, attract what it is that you desire. Here is a list of 6 ways you can begin manifesting today! Episode 121: In this episode of the Mind Body Musings Podcast, I go over some of the key concepts I've been learning in the incredible book, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. If you've been following my Instagram stories lately, you saw all of my highlighted notes in this book. After finishing, I thought to myself, "Why not make a podcast about some of the juiciest, helpful gems I discovered in this book?" And so here we are! If you're feeling "thin, sort of stretched, like butter over too much bread" like Bilbo Baggins, than this podcast is going to be perfect for you. Stop wasting your precious energy and time on the wrong values, using the wrong metrics to measure them and saying yes to all of the wrong things. Your life is finite, and it's crucial you learn how to be selective in what you give your attention to, and what you give a f* about. Also, I don't cuss on my podcast so no worries if you have sensitive ears. Episode 100: YAY! Today I am celebrating 100 podcast episodes of the Mind Body Musings Podcast. Can you believe it?! To celebrate, I wanted to do something special so I had Caroline Dooner come and join me, but instead of interviewing her, it's me that gets to be in the hot seat! Caroline does an amazing job interviewing me about what I've learned during the last 100 episodes, but she also dives deep with her questions, asking about my life philosophy, favourite dessert (of course) and so many other things. This definitely has to be one of my favourite episodes because of Caroline's unique collection of questions and how organic our conversation was. Enjoy! Episode 86: In this episode of the Mind Body Musings Podcast, I talk about five challenges you can give yourself as you go through orthorexia recovery. I know from so much personal experience that one of the most difficult things about recovering from orthorexia (or any eating disorder for that matter) is branching out, trying new foods and giving up control. I'm going to challenge you to try one or all five of these challenges sometime this week...grab a friend, go out to eat and give up control. Episode 81: In this episode of the Mind Body Musings Podcast, I introduce you to 10 inspirational intentions for the New Year. I believe the New Year is one of the craziest times of the year, especially in the media, as everybody is promoting their exercise programs, diets, training courses, or products. People use this as a time to encourage their followers to DO more. To CHANGE more. I have something to say about that. I don't believe the New Year is a time for you to set impossibly high standards for yourself, which will inevitably lead you feeling sad and "failure-like" when you can't reach them. Instead, I think you should create intentions for yourself to become more of who you are already, by coming out of the muck and all of the fog that's been surrounding you for the last year. I believe the New Year is a great time to de-clutter, de-stress, and be with yourself. Don't you agree? Here are my 10 inspirational intentions for the New Year... Show notes: Let go of anything no longer serving you Say NO more Acknowledge your inner critic Become what it is that you want Date yourself Experience more intimacy Simplify (don’t keep anything you don’t like, don’t do anything that’s pointless) Serve Don’t take anything personally (and take things less seriously) Be more, do less Do you have some that I missed? Please share in the comments below! [Tweet "Here's why you should focus on making intentions during the New Year instead of resolutions"] Additionally, HERE'S a video I recently made about why you shouldn't have a weight loss goal this New Year.
Episode 76: Goals can be great. Really. They can serve you by launching you further in your career, relationships, success and health. But what happens when you become attached to the outcome of those goals? What happens when you are so focused on achieving a particular goal that you miss out on something much greater? Or you miss out on an opportunity that would bring you so much more joy? I have spent plenty of time stressing about making my goals come to life, and as a result, missed out on some amazing chances to experience true bliss. I don't want that to happen to you! Listen to this episode of the Mind Body Musings Podcast for more insight on how your own goals could be sabotaging your current happiness, and how you can let go of the attachments you have to the outcomes. Episode 68: In this episode of the Mind Body Musings Podcast, I discuss 3 ways to positively influence recovery by using the power of your mind and only your mind. Nope, you don't have to do anything other than changing the way you view what's going on around you. The amazing thing about this is that your mind is the only thing you CAN change. Episode 35: Hey hey what's up everybody! I just returned from my trip to Kauai and I immediately decided to create this podcast with a message that I find very important. One of the most difficult things for people to resist when they are cultivating body freedom is the desire to fall back into old patterns of being "healthy" in the eyes of others. Or, they could be in a very impressionable state where simply hearing about healthy food or exercise makes them want to jump back on a treadmill and eat some kale. If this is you, listen in to today's episode to discover five ways to break free from unhealthy health. Here's what I discuss in today's podcast: Experiencing body freedom in Kauai What it means to be unhealthy when striving for health Stop labeling yourself Speak up when others label you Respecting your story Doing what makes you feel exceptional Remember that life is short. Episode 32: Drew Manning, a natural fitness junkie and devoted personal trainer, had never been overweight in his life. His clients on the other hand, ranged in weight as well as motivation. Drew had a difficult time understanding why they couldn’t seem to make the same kind of progress he himself had experienced and why they continued to crave junk food, something Drew never had a problem with. In his attempts to understand the psychological aspects of weight loss and junk food, Drew decided to do something pretty drastic. For six months, he radically let himself go. He stopped exercising and ate nothing but the typical American diet of fast and processed foods. Not surprisingly, he ended up gaining 75 pounds and found himself sharing his story nationally on Good Morning America, The Dr. Oz Show, and The Tonight Show. After gaining weight, Drew devoted the next six months to losing the weight as quickly as he had gained it. What started as a physical challenge became an emotional and mental wake-up call as he set out to become fit again. In his book Fit2Fat2Fit, Drew reveals the practical takeaways and profound insights of his yearlong journey. With startlingly honest stories, Drew shares his vulnerable experience with everybody that is willing to learn. Here's a recap on what we talk about in this episode: What Drew decided to do when he was tired of the disconnection he had with his clients The biggest challenges Drew faced putting on 75 pounds The typical American diet Drew adopted during his weight gaining venture The science behind food quality There are a lot of ways to get a six pack without being healthy (...so, so true) Creating humility and empathy by being judged by others The gluten-free Fit2Fat2Fit Drew's honesty about dysmorphic thoughts and how he's developed more contentment Top tips for a successful transformational journey Drew's number one tip for strengthening the mind body connection (this is a good one!) Episode 26: Today I’m talking with a strong voice in the body image industry who’s goal is to help women feel worthy, beautiful and powerful instead of always “not enough.” Erin Brown started this journey because she wanted her daughter to grow up surrounded by women who don’t devalue any part of themselves as unimportant or wrong. Being overweight at a young age, she had to deal with the cruelty of schoolmates and a plunges self esteem as time went on. After finding out she was pregnant with her first child, she knew things had to change and the process would be long but well worth it. After a 90 pound weight loss, she made it her life mission to inspire women to live their best lives and not be burdened with a need to chase an ever-changing ideal. Here's some insight into today's show: Erin's inspiring weight loss story & wanting to improve her self worth Two small changes anyone can make who is needing to lose some weight for health reasons How Erin and I are listening to our bodies when it comes to breakfast (spoiler- I don't eat what you probably think I eat!) Episode 25: In today's podcast, I talk about five really important practices for cultivating body respect and undoing a dysmorphic mindset. There are rituals and habits we perform or think about subconsciously that contribute to a negative outlook on your unique and utterly awesome body. These practices are a mixture of physical things, mental things and things you actually need to commit to from this day forth. Some have to do with the mind, others have to do with the body. Altogether, these five practices come together to form a nudge in the right direction in regards to how you love and respect your body. Please enjoy this episode, and start putting these five practices into practice today. In this episode, I talk about: I Had the "Perfect Body" & I Still Wasn't Happy in MindBodyGreen The importance of respecting and honoring others’ bodies Dressing the body you have now (pay attention to the call to action!) Episode 24: Today we’re talking with a man that’s on a mission to challenge pretty much everything that’s mainstream in regards to health and nutrition. He knows that the government is misleading when it comes to nutritional factors such as cholesterol, saturated fat, and dairy, and similarly, he also believes the media is preaching the wrong message in terms of fitness and what it means to have a strong mind body connection. Justin Janoska does not pick sides when it comes to different diets such as vegan, paleo, atkins and the likes because he believes every single body is made differently and therefore must be treated with individual care and attention. Justin’s approach revolves around reconnecting people back to nature; how our ancestors lived by embracing a sound and basic relationship with the most nutritious foods available to us- foods that are critical to the health of our genome. With this goal in mind, he created his blog Engineer your Genome where he provides guidance and concrete health information as well as individual coaching. Here's what we talk about today: Why the gut is your "second brain" and how to populate more good bacteria Cruciferous vegetables and the importance of consuming plenty of micronutrients Why no single food will EVER make you "fat" Competition prep and unhealthy dietary restriction All the wonderful things about eating fat Being balanced in your nutritional choices and eating based on activity levels Why social media is a double-edged sword Wanna link up with Justin? Episode 23: Joe Salama is the President of Paleo Publishing, publisher of The Paleo Miracle: 50 Real Stories of Health Transformation, the Producer of the Ancestral Food Summit, contributing writer for Paleo Movement Online Magazine, and one of the Administrators of the International Paleo Movement Group on Facebook. Jason Goldberg is a writer, blogger, mud racer, martial artist, and a heavy metal transport specialist. He mentors newcomers to the Paleo lifestyle through his "Paleo Padawan" program. His first novel, Pilot Error, will be published in early 2015. He lives on the East Coast with his son, Joseph, and a sun conure named Woodstock. Together, they crafted the Tao of Paleo, a creative book that teaches you in a playful manner how to eat, sleep, play and exercise the way humans are supposed to. They give you the tools you need to create the right mindset and attitude towards a paleo lifestyle. These guys are awesome. I can't wait for you to listen in. Here's what we discuss in today's episode: What the "tao of paleo" means How being dogmatic, judgmental and stressed is not a part of paleo Why eating a paleo diet is beneficial for purposes other than just weight loss, and is backed by concrete science Top 3 mistakes people make when starting a paleo diet Gluten free products- are they really paleo friendly? Episode 22: "Just because you have a hot body, doesn't mean you have a hot life." Scott has counseled thousands of women on overcoming eating disorders, body image troubles and self-esteem issues. Scott believes that a total mind AND body approach is the key to transforming not just your physical appearance but your overall mental and emotional health as well. With this approach he has enabled his clients to transform not just their bodies but their LIVES with his inside out approach rather than the conventional outside-in approach that is predominantly used by the diet and fitness industry. I really resonate with Scott because he has been teaching a message that I’ve only just started preaching this year and that is: fitness does not necessarily mean leanness. Though Scott knows how to accomplish both of these goals, he is direct in his approach and always puts health first. He doesn’t cultivate imaginary expectations in his clients, but instead he gives them the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in being the best version of themselves. Here's what we discussed in this episode: Why being a health coach is just as much about the mental side as it is about the physical side Why it's a huge red flag when a coach tries to make your health and nutrition complicated. It should be simple, dangit! Episode 20: Jordan Younger is a 23-year-old health and lifestyle blogger living in Los Angeles. When she isn't writing about health on The Balanced Blonde, you'll find her on the yoga mat, in the kitchen, hiking the Malibu canyons and overseeing her clothing line, TBV Apparel. She is currently working on a book and an app that are also focused on the principles of leading a balanced, healthy lifestyle. I was really wanting to talk with Jordan after hearing about her on Good Morning America when she left her vegan lifestyle to pursue a diet that was more tailored to her needs. She received such harsh backlash from some of her followers, that I couldn't even imagine how tough that transition might have been. It's hard enough to make life-changing decisions on your own, but it's so much more tough when you're in the spotlight and people expect certain things from you. I'm really excited to release this episode because I think EVERYBODY will learn something that can be applied to their own life and experiences. Jordan is so incredibly open and honest, that I think she'll say many things that will stick with you. Her story is not one that you want to miss. Here's what we discuss in this episode: Why Jordan originally started veganism and how being labeled started to control mindset towards food, as well as her life The "aha" moments she experienced that really opened up her eyes to her anxieties about non-vegan foods, weight gain and animal ethics How the beliefs we create in our head overtime lead to invisible, counterfeit consequences Jordan's number one tip for those seeking recovery The importance of yoga for mind body awareness Follow Jordan on all her great social media channels: http://www.thebalancedblonde.com/ Instagram Twitter Facebook Pinterest I also had the utmost pleasure to be on her blog for a segment she's been doing called the Recovery Series. You can read that interview I did with her here: http://www.theblondevegan.com/2014/09/19/recovery-series-5-madelyn-moon/ I really opened up about my own recovery for this interview, so I hope you enjoy learning a little more about my own food freedom process. I would have had this interview with him LONG ago, but I wanted to get a little more comfortable with podcasting before I talked with him on my show to ensure that it was the best episode possible :) I can confidently say, I don't think we will disappoint. In this episode, I discuss with you why you should stop saying you don't have the "willpower" to do something, or you don't have enough "self-control" to look like a fitness model. It's not about self-control, will power, discipline, or any of that. It kills me when people look at models and put themselves down because they don't have the inner "drive" to look that way. It couldn't be any further from the truth. It's actually because you have priorities. And I admire that. Now, it's your turn to admire yourself for that.
