Journey through the complexities of "Dirt" as we dissect tracks like "Them Bones" and "Damn That River." We'll discuss Jerry Cantrell's vision, the band's interconnected relationships, and the raw, intense lyrics that define the album. From the haunting reflections on mortality to the visceral imagery of anger and pain, this chapter is a deep dive into the powerful themes that make "Dirt" stand out. Our book of the week is Them Bones, a delightful mix of mystery, laughter, and the supernatural that leaves you feeling like you're in Mississippi right alongside the characters. Laugh along with Becki and Carolyn as they talk about Carolyn's incredibly diverse writing career that has taken her from the bustling newsroom, where she once covered an armed robbery on horseback, to publishing over 80 novels. She has also gone undercover in a prison and danced the night away with some surprising partners. Don't miss this fun interview! CLICK HERE to sign up for the BOOK CLUB! Episode covered for the podcast is episode 51 ""Them Bones, Them Bones, Them Funny Bones." Written by Larry Parr and directed by Rick Marshall/Alan Bunce. Original airdate October 8, 1991. In 1992 Grunge was the only genre of music on the radio and in college dorms around the US. Alice in Chains were riding high (literally) on the success of their first album Facelift and hit single Man in a Box. After a successful opening stint with Van Halen and a best selling EP, Sap, Jerry Cantrell, Layne Staley, Mike Starr and Sean Kinney were ready to rise to the top of the grunge/metal scene. But drugs, particularly heroin, were having a detrimental effect on the band which produced an album full of darkness, self-hatred and sickness. With titles like Sickman, Junkman, Down in a Hole, Hate to Feel, and Godsmack it's obvious Layne Staley is in pain but he delivers some extraordinary performances throughout the record.Selling over 6 million copies with over 6 million singles as well, Alice in Chains couldn't really capitalize on all that success as they couldn't afford to take Layne Staley out on the road for fear of him being arrested or ODing. Still, with hits like Would?, Them Bones, Angry Chair & Rooster, this record will always be remembered, though it should be seen as a cautionary tale.Ugly American Werewolf in London WebsiteYouTubeTwitterInstagramLInkTreewww.pantheonpodcasts.comCheck out our sponsor RareVinyl.com and use code podcast to save 10% off all orders!Want to win front row seats to Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets in the US?Enter here to win tickets and a chance to be on a Pantheon Podcast: https://pantheonpodcasts.com/nickmasonGet tickets here: https://www.thesaucerfulofsecrets.com/

Few can forget the first time they hit play on Alice In Chain's Dirt and Layne Staley's voice slapped you across the face as we launched into Them Bones. An iconic record from one of my favorite grunge bands from the 90's, Alice In Chains was hit by tragedy with the death of Layne Staley and even founding bassist, Mike Starr. Join me as we reminisce about this dark, heavy and brooding album.
RockerMike and Rob discuss Fishbone. Fishbone first assembled in 1979 with John Norwood Fisher (bass), his brother Philip "Fish" Fisher (drums), Angelo Moore (vocals, saxophones and theremin), Kendall Jones (guitar), "Dirty" Walter A. Kibby II (vocals, trumpet), and Christopher Dowd (keyboards, trombone, vocals). They achieved their greatest commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, after which they went through many personnel changes. From 2003 to 2010, John Norwood Fisher and Angelo Moore were the last remaining original members of the band. In the 2010s, all the other original members except Kendall Jones rejoined the band for various reunions and anniversary activities. In November 2020, Kendall Jones joined the band on stage for the first time since 1993 for a performance of "Them Bones" by Alice In Chains for a tribute to the band arranged by the Museum of Pop Culture. https://www.facebook.com › fishbo...Fishbone | Facebook Twitter › FishboneSoldierFishbone https://www.instagram.com › fishbo...FISHBONE (@fishbonesoldier) • Instagram photos and videos https://open.spotify.com › artistFishbone - Spotify - Web Player #musicvideo #musicstudio #musiclover #musiclife #musicindustry #musiclovers #musiccover #musician #fishbone #musicproducer #musicproduction #musicians #musicislife #musicartist #musicphotography #musicvideos #Music @fishbone #Punk #drummer @drummers @spotify Please follow us on Youtube,Facebook,Instagram,Twitter,Patreon and at www.gettinglumpedup.com https://linktr.ee/RobRossi Get your T-shirt at https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/gettinglumpedup And https://www.bonfire.com/store/getting-lumped-up/ https://app.hashtag.expert/?fpr=roberto-rossi80 https://dc2bfnt-peyeewd4slt50d2x1b.hop.clickbank.net Subscribe to the channel and hit the like button This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/getting-lumped-up-with-rob-rossi/id1448899708 https://open.spotify.com/show/00ZWLZaYqQlJji1QSoEz7a https://www.patreon.com/Gettinglumpedup --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support

Gary and Pastor Matt Clark continue their two-year trip through the Bible. This week we read Ezekiel 35-46, with the focus on Ezekiel 37, “Them Bones.” Pastor Clark and Gary Duncan talk about how the story of them dry bones applies to us today.
While 1991 is regarded as the true launch of the 1990s alternative explosion into the mainstream, the sheer volume and diversity of music that followed in 1992 might lay claim to the crown as the most interesting year of the decade. The mainstays of 80s college rock were alive and well, with albums by R.E.M., Bob Mould's new band Sugar, Faith No More, The Cure, The Lemonheads, Sonic Youth, Soul Asylum, and many more. The ubiquitous "grunge" sound was fully ensconced in radio and MTV with Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, and Screaming Trees added to playlists, while more aggressive sounds emerged from the likes of Rage Against the Machine, Helmet, Pantera, and White Zombie. Underground scenes cracked the mainstream as well, as industrial and electronic acts such as Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, The Orb, Curve, Aphex Twin, and others made significant noise, and the growing UK shoegaze scene produced records from Lush, Catherine Wheel, Ride, Moose, etc. And this barely scratches the surface, as hip-hop saw the release of the decade-defining albums The Chronic by Dr. Dre and Check Your Head by the Beastie Boys, as well as albums by Arrested Development, Ice Cube, Das EFX, Redman, The Pharcyde, and more. And that barely scratches the surface. Songs In This Episode: Intro - 1992 Medley (Them Bones by Alice In Chains, Wish by Nine Inch Nails, Unsung by Helmet, Somebody To Shove by Soul Asylum) Outro - Miles Iz Dead by The Afghan Whigs Support the podcast, join the DMO UNION at Patreon. Escucharemos No Excuses, Would?, Down In a Hole, Rooster, Man in The Box, Nutshell, Them Bones, Heaven beside You y Another Brick In The Wall Pt.2 + Bonus tracks. Coming in at number 6 on Rolling Stones greatest grunge albums is the second full length record from Alice In Chains, "Dirt". Joining Bakko in this episode is Chris Akin of the Classic Metal Show. Chris and Bakko go track by track and tell the story of Dirt. Dirt is the second studio album by the American rock band Alice in Chains, released on September 29, 1992, through Columbia Records. Peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart, the album was also well received by music critics. It has since been certified four-times platinum by the RIAA and gone on to sell five million copies worldwide, making Dirt the band's highest selling album to date. It is the band's last album recorded with all four original members, as bassist Mike Starr was fired from the band in January 1993. The album spawned five singles: "Would?", "Them Bones", "Angry Chair", "Rooster", and "Down in a Hole"; all with accompanying music videos. Dirt was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. The music video for "Would?" was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for Best Video from a Film, as the song was featured on the soundtrack to Cameron Crowe's 1992 film Singles. https://www.cmspn.com/theclassicmetalshow/

Covers! Bands like to do them! Sometimes they're good, even! But most of the time they're not. On this week's episode we're talking a dive through some notable covers from and by your favorite heavy metal bands. We're talking about recent covers from Inter Arma and Behemoth as well as some old 'uns from bands like Evergreen Terrace, Brujeria, and Metallica. (This fuckin' Suicide Silence cover of AIC's Them Bones will make you furious) We're also talkin' bout unemployment benefits, Ghost lawsuits, Shadow's Fall, pro audio grifts, Jordan's kitted out Supra, and ODD EDITORIAL CHOICES when reporting a death. Sit down a spell and enjoy a good AND nice episode. Music featured on this episode: Arsis – “Sunglasses at Night” Have something you wanna say to us? Alice In Chains seemed to walk a line between the grunge era and metal. It's difficult to sum up this band in a few works. Instead, follow along with us https://youtu.be/zTuD8k3JvxQ

TRACKLIST DES MORCEAUX ENTENDUS Sickman – Alice in Chains Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns – Mother Love Bone Singles – Trailer Peggy Sue – Buddy Holly Rain when i die – Alice in Chains Rooster – Alice in Chains Would – Alice in Chains Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr. Stigmata – Trailer Them Bones – Alice in Chains Go – Pearl Jam The Nona Tapes Spoonman – Soundgarden Smells like Teen Spirit (live) – Nirvana Mike Patton&John Zorn live No excuse – Alice in Chains

El álbum generó cinco sencillos: "Would?", "Them Bones", "Angry Chair", "Rooster", y "Down in a Hole". Las canciones del álbum se centran en la depresión, ira, comportamiento antisocial, consumo de drogas, guerra, muerte y otros temas emocionalmente cargadas.

When you think of the Seattle Sound, certain sonic hallmarks likely come to mind. As we explore in Episode 2 of The Opus: Dirt, however, Alice in Chains occupied a unique space in this musical landscape. The band didn't ease its fans into the sound of Dirt. The opening notes of "Them Bones" jolt you directly into an aggressive energy and there's barely room to catch your breath over the length of the LP. But at the heart of this sensory assault lies an intricate web of virtuoso musicianship and dynamic vocal harmonies. The chunky, muscular guitar riffs and multi-layered vocals created a sound that spurred a generation of imitators. On this episode of the music history podcast The Opus: Alice in Chains' Dirt, host Adam Unze dives into the unique backstory of the album's composition and discovers why its particular musical alchemy set it apart from the other monster hits of the grunge scene. Joining him on the journey are Baroness' Gina Gleason, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, City and Colour musician Dallas Green, Layne Ulrich of Taipei Houston (and son of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich), and Goon's Kenny Becker and Andy Polito.Don't forget to like, review, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts to be notified of each new episode of Season 18. Also, check out the Consequence Podcast Network for information on all our shows.Fans of The Opus can also pick up an official Opus hoodie or T-shirt at the Consequence Shop.
