However, given what we do know about this vital system, there is potential for yoga practice to provide significant support for its healthy function. Tiffany unpacks how the lymphatics act as both a “clean-up crew” for the circulatory system and an “information highway” for the immune system, along with other key roles, and shares implications of recent lymphatics research. She specializes in Meditation, Therapeutic Yoga, Alignment Based Yoga, and Vinyasa Flow Yoga. I am joined by the founder of Yoga Medicine, Tiffany Cruikshank. Tiffany is an international yoga teacher and wellness expert known for fusing the two worlds of eastern and western medicine together to help professional athletes, celebrities, and normal people alike create more vibrant lives. Max Out Insights: • Approach Yoga with a purpose and intention in mind. That could be something general like whatever you have going on today or a deeper transformational approach by going deeper. • Notice our capacity to not have to interpret and judge, be in a neutral zone in which allows us to have a less reactive and less emotional stance, so we can see more clearly and navigate without being torn by the emotions. • Relax and take it easy focusing on the breathing and wellbeing, things that allow you to do whatever it is that you're doing in a better way with a higher physical capacity. • Practice active recovery, there's such a big difference between recovering and lying on the couch. Actively facilitate your mind and body to get you back on your full power. Max Out Quotes: • “Our body is always in constant change and movement, yoga allows us to take control of the steering wheel.' • “Learning to relax and take it easy is a fundamental aspect of athletics and Yoga.” • “Frequency is more important than duration.” • “Find something simple that you enjoy, you'll be way more likely to repeat it.” • “The things you can repeat more frequently have a more profound impact long-term than the rest.” Connect with Tiffany: Check-out how to take your daily concentration, health and mental being to another level with https://yogamedicine.com/

Tiffany Cruikshank is a woman of many talents in the world of wellness. As a trouble maker in her early teens, she struggled to find purpose and meaning in her life. During that time, Tiffany discovered yoga and met an herbalist at a wilderness camp who would take her on plant walks, where she fell in love with learning how to use the environment around us to heal. Tiffany is the founder of Yoga Medicine, a community of teachers focused on fusing anatomy & western medicine with traditional yoga practices to serve the medical communities. She’s trained thousands of teachers around the world, has graced the cover of over 15 magazines, is a regularly featured expert in many major media outlets, the author of 2 books and has over 150 classes on various topics on YogaGlo.com. With her background in Acupuncture, Sports Medicine and Women’s Health, Tiffany has worked with professional athletes & celebrities, run her own clinics, and created & ran the Acupuncture program at Nike WHQ in addition to teaching yoga there. Tiffany also founded & runs 2 nonprofits, one conducts research on yoga’s therapeutic benefits and the other supports a shelter for women rescued from trafficking in Delhi, India. Today Tiffany and I discuss Chinese Medicine, the idea of bringing the whole person into balance to allow the body to be more resilient, and how yoga can be a great tool for teens as well as adults to combat stress and support both our mental health and our hormones. Thank you so much for joining me today! I loved Tiffany’s suggestion to become the observer and to befriend our thoughts and judgments. By making peace with the layer of ourselves that judges everything, and empathizing with ourselves first, it makes it easier for us to empathize with the world around us. Now, for the past few episodes, I’ve been flying solo, reviewing cues and the anatomy behind several poses. Today, I’m going to be interviewing a friend, colleague and someone whom I respect a great deal, International Yoga teacher, speaker and writer, Kat Fowler! I worked with Kat a few years ago as we were both working with yoga teacher Tiffany Cruikshank at one of her teacher training programs in NYC. I remember meeting Kat for the first time and I was so tremendously impressed! She had such a way about her, one that I noticed right from the start: Calm, knowledgeable, a real team player, approachable and a teacher who had a broad understanding of the practice and lots of teaching experience. I am thrilled to have her on the podcast today! Listen in and hear all of the wonderful teachings she has to share! Find her on her website at https://www.katfowler.com/
If I'm being honest, my fangirl dreams have come true and Tiffany Cruikshank is my guest on the show! I'm thrilled to have her on and we talk about how she transitioned from an acupuncturist to yoga. Tiffany has a well-known school called Yoga Medicine that provides yoga teacher trainings that fuses anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics to work alongside medical professionals for students'/patients' well-being. I really admire her way of how she blends Eastern and Western modalities together and we dive in to that as well. She even gives some credibility to goat yoga...I hope you enjoy this session as much as I enjoyed recording it!Learn more about Tiffany:Yoga Medicine + Seva FoundationInstagramTwitterFacebookMUSIC:So Beautiful by KronicleFRIENDS OF THE SHOW:Brett Larkin Online YTT: Have you been thinking about enrolling in a yoga teacher training, but don't have the time? Tiffany is a renowned yoga teacher and the founder of Yoga Medicine. She's also a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and ran an acupuncture clinic at Nike headquarters for years. Tiffany offers her unique perspective on how to modify our diet, asana, breathwork, and meditation for spring. She also (very patiently) answers my questions about the ways that Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine overlap. This is a great ep for all the complementary medicine geeks in the crowd (like myself). Shownotes: yogalandpodcast.com/episode44/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
