Andrew's wedding was last week, so we're digging into the ARGonauts Vault (tm) for some Very Special Episodes! This week, enjoy another episode of Fraidy Dog Spook-Em-Up, a mini-show where Marn makes Andrew watch a horror movie (usually for charity) and then we talk about it on a podcast! This one was technically recorded as part of an Extra Life donation goal, and we watched Wes Craven's Scream. Join us as we explore Andrew's mixed feelings on meta-horror, Marn's bad TV show recommendations, and more! Recommendations: The Art of Scream: Horror Logic Done Right Contact Us! Hi everyone! As you may or may not remember, our last episode was all about Very Special Episodes. This is a phenomenon that took place mostly in the 70s, 80s and 90s — a normally enjoyable and family-friendly half hour sitcom would all of a sudden become a cringe-inducing PSA.... Hey there folks! Today’s show is all about Very Special Episodes. I’m not sure if this is just a US thing or if our friends in other countries also experienced these horrifying plots shoved into half hour comedy shows, but just in case you aren’t familiar with the term: “Very special episode” is an advertising term originally used in American television promos to refer to an episode of a sitcom or drama series which deals with a difficult or controversial social issue.... TRANSCRIPT:Just a reminder that Very Special Episodes come to you every 11 episodes & they’re a bit more casual, behind the scenes, off topic, and I always have a good time ;)Today is a Very Special Episode, which means I’m sharing my favorite things at the moment and answering YOUR questions! And then toward the end of the episode I’m going to share an important tool for tapping into your intuition so your business can grow and you can just feel all-around amazing.Let’s start with favorite things.Favorite things:These past few weeks have been, let’s just say, intense... And I’m recording in real time right now so, if you’re listening to this near the publish date - April 22nd… then maybe you feel this too.We actually just found out that our tiny chihuahua mix Iki may have to get surgery so my ears are perked for healing magick or pet-centered magick to help him heal. If you know of anything, please DM me on Instagram...Anyways, I’ve really been relying on my self-care and taking time for the things that have been speaking to my heart.I finally found a massage therapist that’s walking distance from our apartment that is fantastic & specializes in working on local people instead of tourists. That feels pretty big. Favorite Thing #1: This One Wild and Precious Life: The Path Back to Connection in a Fractured WorldMy most favorite thing right now is Sarah Wilson’s new book, This One Wild and Precious Life: The Path Back to Connection in a Fractured World. This was a book that I was so sad to complete.I’ve been a Sarah Wilson fan girl for years. I found her with her I Quit Sugar movement & empire, and then was blown away by her book, First, We Make the Beast Beautiful: A New Story about Anxiety. The audiobook is free to listen to This One Wild and Precious Life if you have a scribd account so please, go listen. Favorite Thing #2: Simple Shui Group ConsultI’m taking a feng shui group course with episode 34 guest, Amanda Gibby Peters of Simple Shui. It’s good. It’s a deeper than surface level dive into feng shui with lots of room to asked personalized questions about our spaces. And I wanted to share on one of the lessons. She gives an entire lesson to CLUTTER.We all know it’s not good. But we all have it, right?? (Or at least most of us.)Some practical tips Amanda gave was to ask these questions before buying something or bringing something home:Will this fill an immediate need?Do I have the time & energy to maintain this?Am I willing to let go of something else to get this?So good. Favorite Things #3: Somatic DecolonizationThis last month I hired Lettie Sullivan of the Goddess Ministry to lead my team through somatic decolonization work. It’s been something that’s become blaringly obvious that it’s needed in the last couple months & I was so grateful to hire her at the end of March because a lot of shit got kicked up this month. Having Lettie to guide us in real time was really really useful. If anyone hasn’t really dug into anti-racism work feel free to steal Lettie’s advice & read or listen to My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies. It’s a beautiful, compassionate, heart-opening book. There are so many good quotes too, so here are a few.“A key factor in the perpetuation of white-body supremacy is many people’s refusal to experience clean pain around the myth of race. Instead, usually out of fear, they choose the dirty pain of silence and avoidance and, invariably, prolong the pain.” ― Resmaa Menakem“Years as a healer and trauma therapist have taught me that trauma isn’t destiny. The body, not the thinking brain, is where we experience most of our pain, pleasure, and joy, and where we process most of what happens to us. It is also where we do most of our healing, including our emotional and psychological healing. And it is where we experience resilience and a sense of flow.” ― Resmaa Menakem“Especially want to draw white Americans’ attention to this. White fragility is a lie, a dodge, a myth, and a form of denial. White Americans can create culture that confronts and dismantles white-body supremacy. Any suggestion that they are unable to rise to this challenge is a lie. White Americans are anything but helpless or fragile; they are (of course) precisely as capable as other human beings. But they need to refuse to dodge the responsibility of confronting white-body supremacy—or the responsibility of growing up.” ― Resmaa Menakem“We will not end white-body supremacy- or any other form of human evil- by trying to tear it to pieces. Instead, we can offer people better ways to belong, and better things to belong to. Instead of belonging to a race, we can belong to a culture. Each of us can also build our own capacity for genuine belonging.” ― Resmaa MenakemAnd obviously, check out Lettie’s work and many offerings at www.lettiesullivan.com or @goddessministry on Instagram. Questions:What is the #1 biggest mindset work everyone should do during a launch? Does it change from your first launch to later launches?Mindset is #1 thing to work onWe create assets ahead of time so the magic of the launch is in the mindsetFirst launch you don’t know what to expect. Yet you have expectations & goals. You can fuck yourself up with future launches if you don’t reset your mindset after a “failed” launchYou talk a lot about systems and automations, I’m wondering what the easiest automations are for someone who is just starting to get systems into place in their business? Are there automations I can start doing today?Easiest first one is a Lead Magnet & automated welcome email series!Where do I find a good VA or online business manager? I’m having such a hard time finding the perfect person and I don’t know where to look.My favorite ones are:Ask for referralsAligned FB groupsAsk your audienceI have a ridiculously thorough guide within the Alchemical Business Intensive for hiring and it has been SO FUN to have those in the group who are ready for their first hire to manifest their dream VA or OBM!!Magical answer:Work on your resistance to being supported or sisterhood woundsFeng shui: Love & relationships gua & Helpful people guaHow can I make sure my business isn’t getting fucked over by the IG algorithm?Consistent postingMay have to modify your message if it’s overtly sex relatedSuggest growing email list or content marketing or YouTube rather than relying on companies with ever-changing algorithmsAnd to close this out...8 Phases of the Moon:If you haven’t yet, I really recommend downloading our free guide, the 8 Phases of a Numinous Launch. It’s all about how you can use the moon’s phases for each of your launches to empower you and make sure you are taking time to also reset and recoup after a crazy season in your business. This month, I’ve been guiding the women in the Alchemical Business Intensive through rituals based on each phase of the moon. And multiple women have come to me saying they feel so much more intuitive and connected to not only nature and the world, but also to their business and their mission because they are taking this time to really connect with the moon on a somatic level. So I highly highly recommend downloading the 8 Phases of a Numinous Launch because this stuff is important, guys. This could totally transform your next launch. And I’m all about making your business more efficient and productive, but such a big part of that is taking time to reset. Just like the moon does. And you can get that guide at thedirtyalchemy.com/phases. And again, it’s totally free so you don’t have an excuse not to download it. Go do that now.So thank you so much for joining me for another Very Special Episode. Next week we have a really exciting episode where I’m interviewing Natalie Olson, the Numerology Chick, about how to use numerology in your business, and I promise you don’t want to miss that. So make sure you subscribe to the podcast. And while you’re here, I invite you to rate and review the podcast, this helps other magical business owners find us, and I will be so grateful to you for doing that. That’s all for today, see you next Thursday!

We’ve been doing the BAAMP podcast for over 6 months which is mind-blowing & so fun! When I started this podcast I had no idea where it would go, and it blows my mind to think we now have thousands of downloads and that so many of you come here to tune in every week. And I just love that there are so many of you out there using your magical businesses to change the world. We’re like this big beautiful magical community of people and it’s so cool having this chance to connect with you through this platform. So, thank you :)So for anyone new here, Very Special Episodes are where we deviate a little from what we usually talk about. We’re still talking about spirituality and entrepreneurship and how to use your business as a magical practice (duh) but with a fun turn from our standard teachings and interviews. We do Q&As, behind the scenes, what I’m loving right now — basically whatever you’ve requested to hear about.Okay, so starting with things that I have been loving right now...1. Robot Vacuumhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079QYYGF1/Lovingly known as our third pet, EufyMy favorite purchase of 2020Black Friday $100 purchase2. Rich As F*ck: More Money Than You Know What to Do WithBy Amanda Francishttps://www.amazon.com/Rich-As-More-Money-Than-ebook/dp/B08QY57GFY/I read this book as a part of her book club when she was writing it & had a very magical $30K unexpected check from an uncle I haven’t talked to in a decade.I realize that this may be a very strange result, but if you watch her IG Stories then you know that unexpected checks & money coming from crazy places & ALSO creating stable income streams are really common for people that participate in her work.+unexpected client referrals out of nowhere. Like 3 big referrals in 1 week.I went into it saying “This is going to change my life.”(which is something that I do going into any program I buy)And committed to taking the book & the journal exercises that are included in each chapter very seriously.Big bonus is that her approach is super feminine. Which is amazing for women business owners - creating businesses & making decisions based on DESIRES versus the “right” or “standard” or even “rational” way of doing business.Go binge it. It’s a quick & fun read. It’s worth it.3. Prepping for the Alchemical Business IntensiveOne final thing I’ve been loving… I have been having SO much fun preparing to start the Alchemical Business Intensive. You know when you fall in love with someone and you just can’t stop thinking about them? And even when you’re hanging out with your friends or doing other things all you really want to do is be back with that person? That’s how I feel about this program.I keep looking back at the sales page and just feeling so excited for the 10 women who are going to begin this journey with me in March, and I can’t wait to see the impact they’re going to have on the world. And it just feels so good and so powerful - and so juicy!! - to be reading through the applications that have been rolling in and feeling so connected to these women and their magical & spiritual businesses already. And I can’t wait to get to work. The program caps out at 10 women, so if you want to become part of this program, you can learn more about it on our website @ https://thedirtyalchemy.com/abi. Now, let’s take a look at some of the questions I’ve gotten from you recently…A lot of these questions came in from our Facebook group, Business as a Magical Practice, or on instagram @thedirtyalchemy.If you want to ask questions for the next Very Special Episode, which will be episode 44, you can post them in the Facebook Group or DM them on instagram.Okay, so.QUESTION 1: What should I do if one of my previous offerings doesn’t resonate with me anymore, but I know that it could continue helping other people?QUESTION 2: Should I pay for a tool to get followers on Instagram? Which is the best one?QUESTION 3: How many offerings should my business provide to my audience? I have so many ideas for great programs and I don’t know where to start.QUESTION 4: How do I know if my business is in the right place to Alchemical Business Intensive? I’m a mid-6-figures business owner and my team is just me and a virtual assistant. Yes yes yes. This is the PERFECT place to come into the ABI!You’re at a place where you have the funds to scale, to build a team, to spend on advertising, and you just need support and guidance on stepping into that CEO role & the nuts and bolts of the systems! The very minimum requirement for the Alchemical Business Intensive is that you have an offer that you love that you have already sold to people. If you don’t have a business or don’t have an offer or you haven’t sold anything in your business… this isn’t for you. You’ll be better served in a more beginner course that’s just teaching you how to get started online or how to sell! Also, this is for women selling services or online programs - so coaches, astrologers, web designers, or other online service providers, and people leading memberships, online courses, trainings, or masterminds. So… not local businesses or e-commerce stores that focus on serving a small geographic location or that only sell physical products. If you’re transitioning from one-on-one to online programs. This is perfect for you.If you have launched before but want to make it BIGGER without hustling or burning out, this is perfect for you.If you love love love your offer & you want to get it to way more people, this is perfect for you....And, just so you know, the first few people who apply and are accepted into the program will get a marketing strategy session with me, which is a 1:1 meeting that lasts a few hours, where I dig into your marketing & business strategy before the program even begins. That’s my thank you to you for being one of the first women to join this container and for taking the chance to infinitely scale your business & letting me be your guide on this leg of your journey. So if you want to take advantage of this special bonus offer, all you have to do is go to https://thedirtyalchemy.com/abi and apply to the program. Then we’ll have a 1:1 call to see if it’s a mutual fit. And if it seems like a great fit for both of us, we can go ahead with digging into your business and marketing plans and see what you can work on.That’s all I have for this week, friends! If you want to see more of what we’re up to planning for the Alchemical Business Intensive or just in general, head over the @thedirtyalchemy on Instagram. It’s no joke that I’m dropping wisdom in IG Stories. I’m committed to giving transformative business lessons there most days in Feb - you can watch all of those in the ABI and ABI 2 highlights too.Feel free to comment that you came from the pod because I just love engaging with you guys and having the chance to learn more about you and your badass business.Until next week... bye!

After a looooooong hiatus, everyone's favorite nostalgia-based podcast returns with two bonus episodes that will (hopefully) set the tone for 2020. In the second of these Very Special Episodes, actor/ special guest David Nugent joins Jonny and Darin for a lighthearted look back at the Steven Spielberg-produced, Richard Donner-directed THE GOONIES. But is this 1985 kids' classic a welcome blast from the past? Or a forgotten treasure that should've stayed buried? Join us for a chat, you Goonie!

In the first of these Very Special Episodes, Jonny and Darin dive into Frank Oz's DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS. But did this Steve Martin/ Michael Caine-starring comedy "classic" con our gracious hosts into thinking it's actually a quality movie? Or is the movie honest with its intentions?

“Double Date”(January 31, 1994) Whoa. Blossom was famous for two things: hats and Very Special Episodes. And while its gay episode is suspiciously lacking in hats, it seems like its several Very Special Episodes rolled up into one. In addition to featuring Joey Lawrence’s character as the recipient of a love letter from his male teammate, it also features teaching moments about childhood racism and butt touching (respectively). Does it work? Kinda no, but it’s interesting how much it packs in and how it treats its coming out moment like it’s no big deal… which it isn’t, comparatively. Sometimes, Very Special Episodes are not about drugs, or bigotry, or teen sex. Sometimes, they’re about cross-promotion and visits from Very Special Guests. It’s important that you know which kind of VSE you’re going into when you sit down to watch. Otherwise, you might end up waiting constantly for something bad to happen in your own one-man production of “Waiting for Soleil (Moon Frye).” Join a very nostalgic Chelsea and a much-less nostalgic Andrew as they plunge deep into the secret world of a teen witch and her mortal friends and hostages. Thunderclap! Show: SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH “No Place Like Home,” Season 4, Episode 1 Air Date: September 24, 1999 Special Guest Star: Britney Spears Find it: on Hulu Snack: Deluscious Cookies and Milk (from Lauren and Corey) Further Reading: 15 Musical Guests You Forgot Were on “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch” 15 Magical Facts About Sabrina, The Teenage Witch | Mental Floss Tickled | HBO Documentary “You Drive Me Crazy” music video | YouTube
This is what it sounds like...when love dies. Sweet Valley High goes full soap opera and Marissa talks through the pain with teen television drama aficionado Katie LaDue. Oh, and file this one under "Very Special Episodes" because the topic of facing one's own mortality made us accidentally get a little real. Oops!
Today's episode of Box Not Included is a Very Special Episode. Jade and Hamish discuss times when tv shows have tried to tackle serious, controversial and topical subjects both well and ... not so well. While "Very Special Episodes" are synonymous with 80s American family sitcoms, we look at ways all genres of television has tackled subjects such as gun control, death, homophobia, addiction, abortion, the AIDS crisis and more! Our audio and theme music provided by Graham Waller at grahamwaller.com. Graham is also part of GlitterWolf, whose debut album Spectrum is out now!
