There are transitions in life that bring a lot of pain, sorrow, and trauma. These transitions of loss are the most difficult to navigate, and for that reason, I invited Marie Crews to be my guest today. In 2017, Marie lost her son suddenly, less than 2 years after her mother's unexpected passing. Even in her darkest hours, she refused to let grief define her.    In this episode, Marie shares: How does writing help uncover patterns and beliefs people don't even know they're carrying? What role do hidden beliefs play in emotional pain? And how can someone begin to rewire them to build clarity, confidence, and self-trust? How can people who feel the guilt and pressure to grieve “the right way” give themselves permission to grieve differently? Why are all-women's retreats such a powerful space for healing, and what happens there that can't happen in everyday life?   Her persistence in rising from profound loss, combined with years of coaching experience, uniquely qualifies her to guide women with compassion, courage, and hope. She does this all through Retreats and workshops that are centered on helping women process loss.   Connect with Marie: Website: www.mariecrews.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/marieeurecrews TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@empowermentandgriefguide   CONNECT WITH DEBI Do you feel stuck?  Do you sense it's time for a change, but are unsure where to start or how to move forward? Schedule a clarity call! Do you ever feel like your voice as a dad is getting drowned out at home? Screens. Sports. Social media. School pressure. Constant noise. It can feel like the world is shouting—and your influence as a dad is shrinking.   In Part 6 of our From Overwhelmed to Intentional series, we talk about how to be clear when the world is loud. You may not be the loudest voice in your child's life. The good news? You don't have to be.   In this episode, we cover: Why competing with culture is a losing strategy How to lead your kids' hearts, not just their habits The difference between reacting and reframing What Jesus modeled about peace, clarity, and influence How to create "vacuum pockets" of peace in your home Why you don't have zero control—even when it feels like you do   If you've ever thought, "I'm losing my influence," this one is for you. Some mornings arrive with more weight than words can carry. We poured coffee, opened Psalm 139, and traced a line of hope through the idea that every day was known before it began—and that God is present in the details, especially the broken ones. From missed expectations to major setbacks, we explore how the Author's steady hand can turn hard chapters into places of growth, wisdom, and quiet courage. You'll hear honest questions to locate actions that aim the heart toward hope: returning to Scripture, choosing a promise to repeat, and letting music lift your gaze. Along the way, we keep the tone warm and grounded, weaving practical encouragement with a faith that is neither naïve nor cynical. If you've wondered whether God notices the small details or the big failures, step into this five-minute reset and find steady ground. Here is the youtube link to God is in Your Story.                   https://youtu.be/ryD3D9X2mykWe would love to hear your comments. What if it's too late? If you've ever looked at your marriage, your relationship with your kids, or your past mistakes and thought, "I'm too far gone," this episode is for you.   In Part 5 of our From Overwhelmed to Intentional series, Kent and Lawson talk to the dad who feels discouraged, stuck, or haunted by guilt. You'll hear why it's so dangerous to add "forever" to temporary pain, how to stop speaking hopelessness over your home, and what it looks like to do the slow work of rebuilding trust. You can't control someone else's heart, but you can do your part to create the kind of environment where healing can grow.   Even when it may feel like things have veered too far off the tracks, God has a plan to redeem. I am so happy to have my friend, Peter Bedard joining me again on the Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast.    Meet Peter Bedard. Peter Bedard has an MA in consciousness studies and has extensive training in hypnotherapy and alternative health.  He is a celebrated author, consultant, international speaker, and healer. After a near-death experience, Peter was faced with the greatest challenge of all.  Namley, living a life in severe physical, emotional, and spiritual pain and anxiety. The former dancer soon discovered that the anger, frustration, and anxiety that he felt, because of his injuries, were not only keeping him in pain.  Instead, they were waiting to teach him the greatest gifts of his life. Convergence Healing. This is a amazing, proven 10-point process. Peter explains noninvasive, life-altering practices to help you permanently heal your mind, body, and spirit. His process to heal chronic pain is without prescription medicine. Peter has also written 2 other books that he spoke about on the podcast.    Read more here.       Peter’s Takeaways. “You can heal!  When we heal on all levels of our being, we can create a healing plan for ourselves that is doable and actionable. Every pain, whether it is physical, mental, or spiritual, must be addressed on all of those levels. A broken bone needs to be healed physically AND mentally in the mind.” “A broken heart needs to be healed emotionally on the spirit/energetic level AND in our physical bodies. To neglect any part of the healing process is to neglect ourselves and to force the problem into other parts of our lives.” “Someone newly sober and not drinking, must address the “emptiness” they feel physically and not fill that emptiness with cigarettes or sugar. They must give their body a new way to process the pain that the addiction was hiding and they must address the wound in their heart that was caused by the drinking…not to forget the wound that potentially prompted the drinking.” In Closing. Above all, Peter has helped thousands of people overcome pain and the fearful shadow it has cast over their lives. As a result, he helps his clients to live a life to their full potential.  While at the same time, by integrating the lessons of pain, including  physical, mental, and spiritual lessons into balanced living. Lastly, Peter will share his process of doing so. This includes his process for “Steps for Creating the Life You Want.” Thank you Peter for sharing your story with us.  Conversations + Connections = Community Making the world a better place.  One Story at a time.  What's Your Story? What if trying to be the hero in your home is actually hurting your kids? In part four of our From Overwhelmed to Intentional series, Kent and Lawson unpack a subtle but critical distinction every dad needs to understand: the difference between being an example and being a hero. Many dads feel crushing pressure to be perfect, to have all the answers, and to never mess up. Others check out completely because they feel unqualified. Neither path leads to biblical, healthy fatherhood. In this episode, you'll learn: Why Scripture calls dads to be examples, not saviors How being "the hero" can quietly tether your kids' faith to you instead of Jesus Why humility, repentance, and presence matter more than performance How to disciple your kids even when you don't feel spiritually equipped You don't need to be flawless to lead well. You need to be faithful, present, and pointed in the right direction. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the pressure of fatherhood, this conversation will help you breathe, recalibrate, and lead your family with confidence and clarity.   Want to shape the direction of the show this year? Hello to you listening in Marion, Ohio!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. They say that when Marco Polo returned from his decades of travels through Asia along the Silk Roads, he had gems sewn in his cloak to prove the fantastical nature of his stories.Where might we find the fantastical, the unexpected gift in our stories? What did we bring home from our journey? What was the agent of change? How were we transformed? And does any of it matter to someone else? “It's strange to think that there might be things we know that people who live one hundred years from now would like to know. We forget to say them.” [William Stafford]The story we bring back from our journeys is the gift of grace that was passed to us as we journeyed through our fears, doubts, and failures bringing us from There to Here.Story Prompt: What insight, glimpse of wisdom, shiver of compassion, or wee bit of knowledge have you received as you walk the story of your life? Write that story and share it out loud. You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! Are you leading your home, or just reacting to whatever happens next? If you feel like you're always playing defense, this episode is for you. In Part 3 of our series From Overwhelmed to Intentional, Kent and Lawson get painfully honest about the difference between reacting and responding, and why that gap matters in fatherhood. You'll hear how great leaders put "thinking" between the moment and their mouth, why your intent isn't the same as your impact, and how repentance can actually remove pressure from your kids. You'll also get a practical reframe for the busyness trap, especially when family schedules start running the house. Sports, activities, money, time, energy. They have been married thirty years and have five sons and one daughter-in-law. He lives in Louisville, Kentucky.   Lawson Brown is husband to his high school sweetheart, a father of two young adult daughters, has been a business leader since 1995, and is a former Marine. This week in part 2 of our series we're calling "From Overwhelmed to Intentional," Kent and Lawson get super practical about communication with your kids, especially in the teen years.   You'll be challenged to consider why "Why won't they listen?" might be the wrong question, how your posture and timing matter more than your volume, and why listening is not weakness, it's leadership leverage. Lawson shares a real story from a weekend with his daughter in New York that reframed how he shows up in deeper conversations. Kent breaks down how to season hard conversations with grace (Colossians 4:6), ask questions that are not "gotchas," and trade control for influence so your kids learn to listen to God, not just comply with you.   If you want the kind of relationship where your kids, no matter the age, want to talk to you, this is a deposit worth making.   Want to shape the direction of the show this year? That was the advanced technology of the time. That's antiquated and we need to change our educational system to fit today's needs, today's workers, to today's businesses." "We need to go back to prioritizing trade schools and trade certificates in high school so that when we graduate our high school seniors, they are prepared. They are workforce ready and prepared for life and prepared to be full members of society." "Pushing everyone to college is not an option that we should be waiting around for as the best option. There are definitely professions where a college degree is necessary, but it's not necessary for everyone. Most students, if given a real alternative that allows them to contribute to society and pay their bills, would choose that path. We need to give them that option." "Challenges are there to shine a light on your powers. No superhero ever became a superhero without overcoming a great challenge." "Life is happening for you, not to you. And so look at your challenges, look at any negative thing that's happening in your life and see how it could turn out for your good, see how it could be actually a blessing in disguise." You'll also get a sneak preview of our brand new series which will cover the next five weeks: From Overwhelmed to Intentional. If you feel stretched thin, reactive at home, or like you never have enough time, this series is built for you.   Here's what's coming over the next five weeks: Time: You don't need more time. You need clarity about what matters most in this season. Communication: If you want to be heard, you have to hear. Leadership vs reacting: Stop getting caught off guard and start leading on purpose. Welcome to the first Monday in January of 2026.  Happy New Year!  I can’t think of a better way to start the year than with my guest Celeste Barbier. Meet Celeste. Celeste Barbier is a Professional Vocalist, Ordained Minister, and Certified Expert Sound Healer. She is also a women’s group travel curator & leader, and public speaker.  And,  hopefully future published author based in Oceanside, California. Known for a versatile repertoire spanning more than a century of music, Celeste brings warmth, precision, and emotional resonance to corporate events, private celebrations, weddings, and memorials. In doing so she creates experiences that feels both elevated and deeply personal. In 2019 and 2020, Celeste released two professional albums, with one original song gaining strong traction leading into 2020. During the COVID era, she became a daily content creator, beginning with “Quaranteatime,” a series of brief uplifting segments, and expanding into her one-hour show “Celeste's Quest For Her Best Life,” streamed through outlets including The Quarantine Network (TQN) and Palapa TV. In 2022, a profound personal healing experience catalyzed her expanded path in sound healing. She became a Certified Expert Sound Healer and hosted her first sound bath on 11/22/22. Today, she and her wife René Cosby (Reiki Master) offer Resté Sound Healing experiences and curate Resté Getaway For Women.  This is a transformational group travel rooted in relaxation, exploration, culture, and connection. Resté Getaway for Women offers curated, luxury, all-inclusive women-only vacations to unique, once-in-a-lifetime destinatins. Coming in March will be a trip to Thailand.  They focuse on exclusive experiences designed for women by women, rather than being a typical travel agency. They create boutique travel events emphasizing discovery and connection, distinct from general women’s retreats or destination ideas.  In January 2026, Celeste begins her role as Director of Meditation & Music at Seaside Center for Spiritual Living in Encinitas. Celeste’s Takeaways. “My ‘why’ is to create spaces where people feel safe to soften, reconnect, and remember what matters — through voice, sound, and presence. In an era where the country feels more divided than ever, I'm devoted to the common denominator: music and healing that reunites people across all backgrounds. Healing in the form of connection, peace, nervous system regulation, nostalgia, and remembrance of who we are and why we are here: to love one another.” In Closing. Celeste joined me when I was in the LA Talk Live Studio in 2016.  In fact, here is a link from our show:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKChhMnT8A8. Thank you Celeste for sharing your story with us.  Conversations + Connections = Community Making the world a better place.  One Story at a time.  What's Your Story? Wolfgang Hammer - The Power of Story - [Invest Like the Best, EP.447] My guest today is my friend Wolfgang Hammer. Wolfgang is a successful film producer and executive who helped create House of Cards and ran several major studios, including Lionsgate, CBS Films and Miramax. He's now building a new kind of film studio with support from Mitch Lasky and Marc Andreessen. Wolfgang also helps founders and CEOs use storytelling to better understand what they do, and why it matters. In many ways, this conversation is a manual for how to find that story and communicate it in a way that resonates. Wolfgang shares the questions and tools he gives leaders to help them do the same. Our conversation explores how stories work, what great ones have in common, and why understanding your own story can be transformative. We talk about the three layers every story must have — the external, the emotional, and the philosophical — and how they apply to building companies and leading people. So many CEOs — at both startups and massive fortune 100 companies — have Wolfgang to thank for changing how they think and talk about their business, and I hope this episode gives you the tools to do the same. Please enjoy my conversation with the great Wolfgang Hammer.
