It's America's largest home, its grounds were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, and it's now the setting of a Hallmark movie! We're talking about Biltmore Estate–“the closest thing Americans have to a royal fairytale castle,” as the Travel Channel puts it. How did this privately owned estate evolve from a bachelor's country home to one of America's most visited houses–and wineries? What near miss did George and Edith Vanderbilt have with the Titanic? What role did Biltmore play in supporting the community during the Great Depression, WW2, and the current Hurricane Helene recovery efforts? And how does the movie “A Biltmore Christmas” manage to pay homage to both the history of this national landmark and also some of our most beloved Christmas classics? Bethany Joy Lenz was born in Florida and grew up in Texas, which is where she first got involved in the performing arts, carrying on a tradition she inherited from her grandparents. Her family eventually headed to New Jersey, where her Southerness drew the wrong kind of attention from some of the girls in her class, but she made it through the experience and eventually landed on the hit TV show One Tree Hill. Now Joy is living in Nashville, writing and performing music, editing a publication called Modern Vintage, and hosting a podcast with her One Tree Hill co-stars called Drama Queens. If that's not enough, she's starring in the new Hallmark Original Movie, A Biltmore Christmas, which is based on a trip back in time to the famous North Carolina estate, and she's working on a book about her years spent in a strange cult. This is Gary Templeton's eleventh writing credit, although his first for Hallmark. His other credits include movies like "Corduroy," and "Frog Goes to Dinner." Skyler Samuels plays Grace. Skyler has 32 acting credits and this is her second Hallmark appearance. She got her start in s how's like "Drake and Josh," "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and "That's so Raven." Kapil has 21 acting credits including the entire run of "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" as well as 16 episodes of the "Night Court" reboot. This is his first Hallmark appearance. Watch the Trailer for "My Dreams of You" Our Thoughts on "My Dreams of You" What We Liked Firstly, big kudos to Hallmark for embracing diversity with "My Dreams of You". One of the film's strengths is its casting. We were thrilled to see an Indian American actor, Kapil Talwalkar, in the leading role. It felt fresh and exciting, breaking from the typical mold of Hallmark leads. Plus, let's not forget Cecilia Lee, who shone as Allura and, for us, stole the spotlight in every scene she was in. Speaking of characters, we appreciated Skylar Samuels as Grace. It seems Hallmark might be grooming her for the spotlight. From her earlier roles in shows like "Drake and Josh" to her Hallmark mystery stints, she's proving to be a rising star. As for the plot, Dream Central was a fascinating concept. We loved the big swings Hallmark took with this idea, even if it got a bit confusing at times (we'll get to that later!). And how adorable was that rain-soaked kiss? It brought a genuine sense of romance and progress to Grace and Michael's budding relationship without fast-forwarding to unrealistic love declarations. What We Wished For Now, onto our wishes. The movie didn't come without its flaws. We found that it suffered from a lack of clear direction in the storytelling. The dual dreams and real-life struggles theme felt a bit overstuffed. Dream Central could have easily carried the plot without needing both leads to chase professio...

or..."It's Not Always Easy to Be a Smithsonian"-- Well, this gang is a bunch of total suckers for old Hollywood. We do live in L.A. and Palm Springs after all. And we also fall for a movie with a good budget. This one had that--or at least was HELLA sponsored by THE BILTMORE ESTATE! DID WE MENTION THE BILMORE ESTATE?! Which Beth hasn't been to, Richie has been to, Paige has been outside of, but which her grandmother deemed too expensive so instead they went to the Grove Park Inn. So it was nice to spend time there. We also all love a good time travel! So if you haven't watched this one, we recommend it!This one still didn't have enough seals for Richie. If you don't get that reference you may have missed our episode on "Mystic Christmas...."Speaking of unsolicited recommendations, we also made some recommendations in this episode. Mostly for time travel romance novels, including A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux, Rhapsody in Time by Judith O'Brien, Green Darkness by Anne Seton, and if you've been meaning to get around to read the 800 page behemoth that is Outlander here's your reminder. These are also wonderful escapist holiday present ideas! Richie also recommended Terminator. Less romantic but you know. Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. It's finally here! The Thanksgiving long weekend AND of course, A Biltmore Christmas. Mary and Sarah sit down to chat through the most anticipated Hallmark Christmas movie ever. Did it live up to expectations? What's the story of Biltmore anyway? How should we #redpenrewrite it? Have a listen....but as a preview #morepolaha !! Bring on the movie within a movie!! Lucy Hardgrove (Joy Lenz) is a screenwriter who lands the job of a lifetime when she's hired to pen the script for a remake of the beloved holiday movie, His Merry Wife! First filmed in 1947 at beautiful, historic Biltmore House, it has long been considered a Christmas classic. When the head of the studio isn't satisfied with the ending Lucy wrote because it deviates from the original's feel-good conclusion, he sends Lucy to Biltmore Estate for research and inspiration. While there, she unwittingly discovers the ability to travel to the 1947 set of His Merry Wife! through the help of an hourglass. After shaking off the initial shock of this turn of events, Lucy embraces this as her chance to uncover the truth about the movie's original ending. While on set, she and Jack Huston (Kristoffer Polaha), one of the film's stars, spend time together and become close. But her sudden appearance has set off a chain of events that put the production in jeopardy. Before she can return to the present, Lucy must make things right or threaten to alter the future forever. Starring Bethany Joy Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha.

Happy fa la la la holidays everyone! It's that time: Thanksgiving week the busiest movie week of the year is done and we survived! Fifteen movies later, A Biltmore Christmas absolutely decimated every movie that came before it. Lifetime scored a five with Christmas at the Chalet with Teri Hatcher, but fell off a cliff with Laughing All The Way. UpTV continues its streak of great movies with Mistletoe Connection. Hallmark Movies and Mysteries did okay but not great with Season for Family. Hallmark did well for the week of their double features, my personal favorites being Catch Me If You Claus, Our Christmas Mural, Letters to Santa, and Holiday Road. Christmas in Notting Hill and Haul Out The Holly: Lit Up were also fun and lighthearted. And then there was GAC. Is there really anything else to say? Catch all my thoughts now!
Chinggay and Patty speed through eight movies in under a week and weed through the naughty ones so you don't have to watch them. Fast forward through holiday mediocrity and more couples in trouble and hit pause for a surprise makeout scene. We see Patty's most beloved tropes from across the Pond demolished, and Chinggay gives in to Love, Actually-inspired schmaltz. The clear winners of the week are Hallmark's go big or go home fare: a zany neighbourhood comedy and time-traveling Bethany Joy Lenz with 1940s Kristoffer Polaha in “A Biltmore Christmas.”Our Christmas Mural (Alex Paxton-Beesley, Dan Jeannot)Catch Me If You Claus (Italia Ricci, Luke Macfarlane)A Season for Family (Brendan Penny, Stacey Farber, Benjamin Jacobson, Azriel Dalman)Christmas in Notting Hill (Sarah Ramos, William Moseley)Letters to Santa (Katie Leclerc, Rafael de la Fuente)Holiday Road (Sara Canning, Warren Christie)Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up (Lacey Chabert, Wes Brown, Stephen Tobolowsky, Melissa Peterman, Ellen Travolta, Seth Morris, Jennifer Aspen)A Biltmore Christmas (Bethany Joy Lenz, Kristoffer Polaha, Jonathan Frakes, Robert Picardo)Thanks to Pietro Lazatin for our music and Paola Lazatin for our cover artFollow us on Twitter: @makeithallmark and on Instagram: @butmakeithallmark

It premiered originally on Jan 27, 2019 on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Earlier this year, Polaha gave an interview with Just Jared. Regarding an 8th installment he said “We love telling those stories and whatever the network decides…it's inconclusive,” also adding “there's always been conversation about number eight, [but] there's no like official word.” Kristoffer Polaha stars as Detective Travis Burke. He has an impressive 77 acting credits with his first dating back to 2001 as Dylan in the teen vampire drama “Angel.” On deck for Polaha: “Harlan Coben's Shelter” and the highly anticipated “A Biltmore Christmas” for Hallmark. Related: "A Winning Team" Hallmark Movie Review Jill Wagner plays Professor Amy Winslow. She has 31 acting credits including 6 episodes of the MTV prank show Punk'd and it looks like her first Hallmark movie was “Autumn Dreams” from 2015. Related: Jill Wagner in a clip from Punk'd Robin Thomas plays Amy's dad Graham Winslow. Want to talk about impressive resume, this guy has 137 acting credits listed on IMDb. I recognized his face immediately from the old soap opera “Another World” where he played Mark Singleton from 1983-1985. I have absolutely NO IDEA how I remembered him considering I was 8 years old. He's also been in a movie I was too young to watch called “Summer School” from 1987, “Who's the Boss?” “Fuller House” “Damages” - tons of others.
Oh we're definitely talking about Kris Polaha's tragic hairstyle in this movie. Check out that heated debate in our Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group. Or, email the show at meganandwendy@gmail.com to tell us what you thought of this week's Kristoffer Polaha soccer movie. Megan and Wendy review Hallmark Channel's "A Winning Team" starring Kris Polaha and newcomer Nadia Hatta. About "A Winning Team" Kristoffer Polaha plays Ian. Everyone knows who Polaha is. He was in last year's “We Wish You a Married Christmas” and had a cameo in “Haul Out the Holly.” He will star in the highly anticipated “A Biltmore Christmas” later this year. According to his IMDB, he has a ton of upcoming work including "Harlen Coben's Shelter." Nadia Hatta plays 3-time World Cup soccer champion Emily. According to IMDB she is best known for her role in a series called “Away” on Netflix. This is her first Hallmark movie. She was also a VJ at MTV Asia. You may have recognized Adil Zaidi as Ian's friend. At the time of recording, he hadn't been given credit on IMDB. He typically plays a lot of “friend-of” roles in Hallmark movies. I wouldn't mind seeing him as a lead. This was written by Ronee Uyeshiro. This is her first writing credit. Jason Furukawa directed. He has 13 directing credits including last year's “A Magical Christmas Village.” Filmed in Vancouver during winter - which made this spring movie hard to film, especially the outdoor soccer scenes.
