Neel Bhatt (Empire Podcast) and Lizzie Swindells return to Flixwatcher to review Neel's choice Crazy Stupid Love. Crazy Stupid Love (2011) is a romantic comedy drama written by Dan (This is Us) Fogelman and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. It stars Steve Carell as Cal Weaver. A middle-aged man who suddenly finds himself single after his wife Emily, played by Julianne Moore, says she has had an affair (with Kevin Bacon's David Lindhagen) and wants a divorce. On one of his nights out he meets serial womaniser Jacob, played by Ryan Gosling in photoshopped perfection. Jacob teaches Cal how to dress and speak to women to up his romantic game. Law school graduate Hannah, (the effervescent Emma Stone) is having her own romantic troubles with her wet drip boyfriend. Crazy Stupid Love succeeds where so many romantic comedies fall in being both romantic and genuinely funny, in this case actually laugh out loud. It also gave us the ‘laughing Ryan Gosling' GIF. Riffing on popular culture and referencing both Dirty Dancing and The Karate Kid and with a sweetness at its heart recommendability for Crazy Stupid Love was very high. Equally high was repeat viewing and small screen which gives an overall rating of 4.79. This means there is a new top film on the Flixwatcher leaderboard! Congratulations Crazy Stupid Love! This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas start knocking off local shopping malls, using Fil's Santa outfit from the cinema. The pair pose as a surly Santa and his oversized Elf, who by day try to stay sober enough to ask the kids what they want for Christmas, and by night rob the stores blind. It's the final week of NAUGHTY or NICE, and our Patreon backers were given the choice between two films from 2003 – BAD SANTA (Naughty) or ELF (Nice). Our listeners went 3-for-3 in the naughty camp, and decided to go for the drunken Santa Heist Movie! What could go wrong?Fresh off the success of Ghost World, Terry Zwigoff was tapped by Executive Producers Joel and Ethan Coen to turn their loose idea, that was adapted by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, into a big screen Christmas classic, starring Billy Bob Thornton. The only problem was, Bob Weinstein was the real boss, and he made things annoying for everyone. Join us, as we talk how this film was made, who the Coen's original envisioned starring in the film, and how there came to be three different versions of the film. And there is plenty of love to the scene stealing duo of two late-great actors, John Ritter and Bernie Mac. "I'm on my f***ing lunch break, OK?"If you enjoy the podcast, leave a Rating and Review! In this episode of 92NY Talks, join Kiefer Sutherland, Meta Golding, and Enid Graham — the stars of Paramount+'s new series Rabbit Hole — with Executive Producer John Requa for a conversation with SiriusXM's Jessica Shaw. Rabbit Hole is a gripping technological thriller for our time — posing dark, looming questions about who pulls the strings in our society. They discuss the inspiration for the series, how they ratcheted up the suspense, stories from behind the scenes, and more. The conversation was recorded on March 22, 2023, in front of a live audience at The 92nd Street Y, New York.

Take a trip back with us to 2015 as Will Smith stars for the first time alongside Margot Robbie in the heist drama Focus. Directed and written by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the team behind movies like Crazy, Stupid, Love. This stylized movie brings Will back front and center as a smart stylish con-man who by happenstance befriends and falls in love with Margot Robbie's character. Will this movie be a blockbuster fave and able to stand on it's own in a genre dominated by Ocean's Eleven or will it be a movie theatre regret and crash as it drifts in and out of various lanes? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/loyaloats/message

Jungle Cruise is a 2021 American fantasy adventure film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from screenplay written by Glenn Ficarra, John Requa, and Michael Green, based on Walt Disney's theme park attraction of the same name.[1] Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, the film stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Édgar Ramírez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti, and follows the captain of a small riverboat who takes a scientist and her brother through a jungle in search of the Tree of Life. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jungle_Cruise_(film)
On the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are suiting the hell up and getting our dang groove back in the Glenn Ficarra and John Requa film from 2011, Crazy, Stupid, Love. Here's what I would give to have Ryan Gosling take me to a Beverly Hills shopping center and give me a complete makeover: Either/both of my kidneys. Either/both of Steven's kidneys. My entire life savings. My world-famous lasagna soup recipe. The cure for the common cold. All of my hopes and dreams. My extensive and indisputable research into the existence of a new and terrifying race of otherworldly Bigfoot monsters, otherwise known as Sasqualiens™. Give me a call, Ryan. Let's set this up. My number is 555-ILOVEYOURABS. Look, he dresses up Cal, makes him look like a badass, and gives him the confidence to be his best self. Sure, he sleeps with more people than he might be comfortable with, but by the end, he comes to realize that what he wants most in life is his family back. Jacob falls in love with Hannah (but who hasn't fallen in love with Emma Stone, am I right?), ditches his philandering ways, and learns to appreciate having a steady and loving presence in his life. What we all get out of this is a film that's got a damn hilarious story, crazy rewatch value, and a decent amount of Kevin Bacon. Does it get any better than that? WE'RE BACK!! After an unusually long break between episodes, we return as an unemployed pair wanting to fill the void in these strange times. In this episode we immerse ourselves in the ultra cool facade of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa's crime comedy, 'Focus'. While Dani drools over her Will Smith deep dives on YouTube, we chat about this movie's escapism, discuss why this is a strangely unique role for Margot Robbie, and ponder why two expert thieves are constantly being stolen from.
¡Alerta spoilers!

"Crazy Stupid Love," directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, focuses mostly on "Love." This was a surprisingly smart but still comedic exploration of adult relationships (and those that aspire to adulthood). This Movie Monday podcast also includes a bonus review of "Glee in 3-D."
