Fresh from the floor of CES 2025, I grabbed about 10 minutes each with two brilliant minds in technology and innovation who shared fascinating insights about where we're headed in this AI-driven world for a fast but powerful bonus episode. Andrew Klein, who leads creative technology and innovation at PMCI (Publicis Media Content and Innovation Team), dove straight into how generative AI is becoming increasingly woven into our daily lives. Andrew Klein, SVP, PMCI at CES 2025 He painted a vivid picture of our near future, where wearable AI technology won't just sit on our desks but will travel with us through our days via glasses, earbuds, and head-mounted displays. His most striking observation? "I think we're going to have more conversations with AI, potentially, than we would with people. Especially when you think about digital communication." Klein shared fascinating insights about the emerging convergence of crypto and AI, describing a future where we'll essentially subscribe to different AIs like we currently follow social media accounts or news sources. These AI agents, running 24/7, could serve as everything from market analysts to personal companions. When our discussion turned to the critical issue of trust in AI systems, Klein highlighted how major platforms are starting to prioritize transparency by clearly identifying AI-driven interactions.   Albert Thompson, Walton Isaacson, at CES 2025 This focus on trust was echoed and expanded upon by my next guest, Albert Thompson, Managing Director of Digital Innovation at Walton Isaacson, who had just finished moderating a panel on monetization in immersive technologies. Thompson offered a profound observation that really stuck with me: "The world's currency is not technology, it's trust. And that's everywhere from political candidacy to why three ply toilet paper is better than one. ...And when you start to think about news and information, it's whom do we trust?" Thompson drew a fascinating distinction between generations: Boomers understand how things are made because they come from the Industrial Age, while Gen Z knows how nothing is made - they just want it to work. He predicts we'll return to valuing in-person verification, noting that while deepfakes can fool us online, "the one thing a deepfake can't do is walk in the room and fake you out." The episode concludes with my personal note about the Los Angeles wildfires and information about supporting affected communities, including the Grammy-winning composer of my Insider Interviews theme, John Clayton. Prohibition of cannabis has been about bad science, racism, propaganda, and violence, “ says Arti Finn, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer, APDS.  In this episode, host D-Rich leads a fascinating exploration of the intricate world of legalized cannabis and the political and social landscape that surrounds it.    Our panel of guests share experiences about their presence in the industry, including the challenges they have confronted and solutions they have implemented. During a discussion on the topic of incarceration and the prison system, we delve into the massive role that prisons play in treatment for substance abuse and mental health, the many issues with private correctional institutions, and life after incarceration. And the panel guests emphasize the need for a cultural shift toward more effective solutions, backed by data and results.   Quotes • “I think there's an opportunity for the industry to have an outsized word on criminal justice reform by saying taxes that are redirected from cannabis sales should be put into correctional education. States don't have enough money dedicated to that. Less than 17% of the folks that are incarcerated get any access to programming. So if you want to actually start to regulate the industry, control where the money goes.” (25:35 - 25:59 | Arti) • “We criminalized things that should not have been criminalized, including cannabis consumption. And we did it on bad science. We did it using racism, we did it using propaganda, we did it using violence. And we're continuing to use that violence by putting people in cages for using something that is relatively harmless.” (38:22 - 38:44 | Maggie) • “We miss the fact that the American prison system and jail system is the largest mental health institution we have in the country. There are more mentally ill people in our prisons and jails than there are in all the state psychiatric institutions combined. Also, people who are under the influence of drugs, well, jails are now the largest detoxification facilities in the country. 100 times more people are detoxed in jail than are detoxed in detox centers in the community or in hospital emergency rooms.” (43:58 - 44:36| Andy) • “Talk to your state legislatures, your governor, anyone who's in policy making and really advocate for changing corrections from a place of warehousing to a place of true rehabilitation. And when you start to raise the pressure on government, they step up.” (1:04:19 - 1:04:39 | Arti)   Connect with our guests: Maggie Kinsella - https://coyotecannabisco.com/ Arti Finn - https://apds.works/ Andrew Klein - https://www.ahpnet.com/About/Meet-our-Experts/Andrew-Klein Kyle Moon - https://www.linkedin.com/in/kyle-moon-4404b1170/ About with Southern Soul Livestream - Live Episode Podcast   Witty, thought-provoking, and uplifting, Soul Thursdays is the program that you'll invite friends over to watch every week, where you'll learn about fascinating speakers and get to share in exciting experiences.    Support - Community Exploratory Journalism -  Buy us  A Coffee!  Learn - Register Free Training - Getting Started in BIPOC Podcasting Workshop Shop - Southern Soul Official Merchandise - Buy  Official Merchandise Purchase - Official Show Companion - Soul Thursdays Journal   Register - Join a Live Episode Show - “It's a Whole Vibe!”    Connect with SoulThursdays Website | Facebook  Instagram | Twitter | TikTok

Behind the scenes of the process, Patrick was able to visit with Rentokil's Alex Nigh and other potential acquirers. As a client, what does Patrick have to say about his first hand experience working with the Potomac team? The two debrief on the recent interview with Terminix CEO Brett Ponton in Waco. Since publishing the interview, Paul can't count the times he's been asked what his legitimate opinion is about the relatively new CEO. What is Paul's take on the new CEO and the reestablished M&A team? Patrick learns that the lunch table conversation covered a lot more ground than Brett's favorite color.  Speaking of Terminix's M&A team, Andrew Klein made the trip to Waco for the closing dinner and employee announcement. Having sold his business to Terminix a couple years ago, what advice does “Moses” give on employee transition? Check it out at ProjectBlackBear.com. Also on ProjectBlackBear.com, you can watch a clip of Paul and Patrick's session with Arrow Exterminators' CEO Emily Thomas Kendrick and President Tim Pollard about culture and scale. What are the big things to watch in 2020? "Renablement, rehabilitation and readmission" from a patient perspective and "training compotence, resillience and 'burn out,'" from the practitioner's point of view, according to one of our contributors on this piece. What about Enhanced Recovery, is that still set to be big in 2020? Is it methadone we should be thinking about? Is automation something on our collective horizon? What about the "B word", "Brexit"; will political change in the UK bring opportunity? The ongoing issue in the US of opioid addiction and overuse is discussed. Often called the app store of law, Reynen Court has fast become one of the most talked-about companies in legal technology. Its mission is to make it easy for law firms and legal departments to adopt and manage modern cloud-based software applications without having to trust firm or client content to the rapidly growing universe of vertically integrated SaaS providers. In this episode of LawNext, recorded live at the annual conference of the International Legal Technology Association, host Bob Ambrogi is joined by Andrew Klein, Reynen Court’s founder and CEO. Klein started the company in 2017 after he realized how little had changed in the basic technology infrastructure underpinning even the largest practices – and as a result, how difficult it was for firms to adopt modern technology or achieve genuine business transformation.  A Harvard Law School graduate, Klein was an associate at Cravath, Swaine and Moore when he left in 1992 to start a brewery. In 1995, to raise money for the brewery, Klein applied his experience as a securities lawyer to launch the first-ever initial public offering sold through the Internet.  The success and notoriety of that IPO led Klein to launch Wit Capital, an investment bank dedicated to helping other companies raise money online. The company flourished, recording more than $350 million in annual revenues, and itself went public in 1999. Ultimately, Wit Capital was acquired by Charles Schwab.  After Wit Capital was acquired by Charles Schwab, Klein moved to Amsterdam where, over the next 15 years, he co-founded two asset management firms, Skybridge Capital and Ultra Capital, and, in between those ventures, created and led Spotzer Media, a provider of digital advertising solutions to local businesses. On Saturday, House Democrats released a heavily redacted version of the memo that was created to counter Republican claims that top FBI and DOJ officials abused the FISA program to spy on a member of the Trump campaign. About a year ago we were talking about "Mack" Beggs winning the UIL state wrestling title. Beggs won again this year and still doesn't understand why people are upset about it. The Seattle Times jumped at a "news" tip: there was a Confederate flag flying beneath the American flag in the city's Greenwood neighborhood, and residents were very concerned. Only, it turns out, it wasn't the Confederate flag at all. I'll talk about it today in the "Culture War" segment.  First, Colton Haab, a student in the ROTC program at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, claimed that CNN's town hall event on the school shooting was scripted and that they censored him from asking questions that he had and, instead, insisted that he ask the questions that they gave him. CNN denied it. Then, Andrew Klein, whose daughter attends Stoneman Douglas High School, said that a CNN producer told him the day after the shooting they were looking for people to do interviews who would "espouse a certain narrative which was taking the tragedy and turning it into a policy debate."  Since then multiple parents and students have made similar claims. CNN is still denying it but they do have a long history of doing exactly that, as documented by Michelle Malkin in 2016. I'll talk about this and other continuing fall-out from the Florida school shooting.  Don't forget about the Edwards Notebook and the Veteran's Tip of the Day! All of this and more as time allows. Dave Scott is an extraordinarily talented guitarist who was one of the founding members of TUFF LUCK, and 80's hard rock/metal band that was on the cusp of major industry success. The story of why the band never fully crossed over into stardom is the subject of a critically acclaimed documentary by the same name, and Andrew Klein did an amazing job of telling the story of Tuff Luck.
