Volvemos a Italia, y en la presente ocasión en nuestro programa “EL TIEMPO EN TU DESTINO” visitamos una ciudad de la región italiana de la Toscana, nos referimos concretamente a Pisa. Situada a poco más de 100 kilómetros de Florencia, tiene mucho más que ver que la famosa Torre Inclinada. Presenta innumerables ejemplos de un estilo arquitectónico particular, el románico pisano, caracterizado por el uso del mármol blanco. Dinámica y animada por la importante historia que desprenden sus murallas, Pisa nos recuerda inmediatamente a la Torre Inclinada, símbolo de la ciudad y el monumento italiano más conocido del mundo. Junto con la catedral y el baptisterio, la Torre de Pisa forma parte del conjunto de «Milagros» que denominó Gabriele D’Annunzio, de ahí el nombre Piazza dei Miracoli, que define perfectamente el lugar que los alberga. Gabriele D'Annunzio was an Italian writer, journalist and poet who wrote himself irrevocably into history in 1919. In the chaotic aftermath of World War One, D'Annunzio led a small band of irregular Italian forces to the Free City of Rijeka (Italian name Fiume), and seized it in the name of Italian irredentism. D'Annunzio proclaimed the Free City to be the new Italian Regency of Carnario, with himself as Comandante and Duce. My guest's stories about what happened in The Regency of Carnaro during its short existence make Anthony Burgess' descriptions of London in A Clockwork Orange sound gentile, with sex, drugs and a glorification of violence impossible to ignore.Though the Regency quickly fell apart, D'Annunzio's bombastic political style rolled the pitch for the fascist takeover of Italy in 1922, with Benito Mussolini proclaiming D'Annunzio "The John the Baptist of Italian fascism". My guest today is Lucy Hughes-Hallett. Lucy is a British historian who has written books about a variety of different historical figures, including Cleopatra, Sir Francis Drake, Achilles, and our subject today. Her book on Gabriele D'Annunzio is The Pike, for which Lucy won the 2013 Samuel Johnson Prize for Nonfiction, and the Costa Book Award.

On today's episode we're diving into Yoga Nidra, which translated literally means yoga sleep. While it's not literally sleep, evidence suggests it can be a powerful tool for improving sleep quality and falling asleep faster, among many other things. That is the subject of a piece by our guest, titled "The Thin Line Between Waking and Sleeping in Athletes: A Call for Yoga Nidra in the Sporting Context." Selenia di Fronso is a PhD researcher affiliated with the Department of Medicine and Aging Sciences, within the Behavioral Imaging and Neural Dynamics Center, University “G. d'Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara, Chieti, Italy. She focuses on sports psychology, including things like mental imagery, stress management, and mindfulness. While this is an opinion piece, it heavily references the existing literature on Yoga Nidra, especially in medical contexts. She's primarily calling for greater investigation of how Yoga Nidra could be applied in athletic contexts. A 2010 Pain Management Task Force report from the Office of the Army Surgeon General listed Yoga Nidra as a “Tier 1” modality for pain management. Evidence from Occupational Therapy settings suggests that Yoga Nidra can significantly improve time spent asleep (above and beyond traditional sleep hygiene interventions) for patients suffering from sleep disorders. Clinical studies have shown that yoga nidra meditation is associated with positive physiological changes, including improvements in several hematological variables, red blood cell counts, blood glucose levels, and hormonal status. Two neuroimaging studies have shown that yoga nidra produces changes in endogenous dopamine release and cerebral blood flow, a further confirmation that its effects on the CNS are objectively measurable. The practice has also been shown to reduce psychometrically measured indices of mild depression and anxiety, although these benefits were not shown in an experimental study to extend to severe depression or severe anxiety.

José Asunción Silva Gómez (Bogotá, 27 de noviembre de 1865 - Ib., 24 de mayo de 1896) fue un poeta colombiano, uno de los más importantes precursores del modernismo y, según otro sector de la crítica, uno de los escritores más importantes de la primera generación de costumbristas . Se considera que su obra de mayor relevancia es El libro de versos. Se suicidó a sus 30 años dándose un tiro en el corazón con un revólver Smith & Wesson, y se cuenta que se encontró el libro El Triunfo de la muerte de Gabriele D'Annunzio, a la cabecera de su lecho. Su suicidio se debió a su escasez de dinero, entre otras variadas causas detalladas por expertos y conocidos suyos y del medio social bogotano de la época. Una carta del escritor Emilio Cuervo Márquez describe cómo él, constata que Silva gastó sus últimos centavos en la compra de un ramo de flores para su hermana, con un cheque girado el mismo día que se quitó la vida.

Die Stadt an der Adria hat auch eine absolute Legende der Klaviertechnik zu bieten, das Klavierhaus Fabbrini. Musikchefin Ursula Magnes berichtet. Inmitten einer kleinen Industriezone hat das Team von Odradek ein kleines Wunderwerk entwickelt und aufgebaut. Zur 10 Jahr Feier hat Pianist Artur Pizarro gestern Abend ein Rezital gespielt. Artur Pizarro hat für Odradek Records das Klavier-Gesamtwerk von Sergej Rachmaninow aufgenommen. Gestern Abend spielte er Ludwig van Beethovens Appassionata, die 12 Etüden von Chopin op. 25 und eine Ballade seines portugiesischen Landsmannes José Vianna da Motta. Ein Fest des Klavierspiels – darüber hinaus ist Artur Pizzaro ein unglaublich sympathisch humorvoller Kommunikator. Als kleine Überraschung sang vor dem Konzert ein junger Bursch das weltberühmte neapolitanische Lied Santa Lucia. In der letzten Strophe heißt es „Tu sei l'impero dell'armonia!“ – so ähnlich verhält es sich auch mit Odradek Records. Mittlerweile gibt es eine Vielzahl weiterer Projekte und Start Ups, die unter OdraTec firmieren. Und wer sich über den Namen Odradek Gedanken macht, landet bei Franz Kafka und dessen Erzählung „Die Sorge des Hausvaters“. Die Vision und Mission Odradeks und seiner Gründer sind jedoch keinesfalls unverständlich und widersprüchlich. Es geht um Kunst und Künstler. Allein diese zu fördern und auf den Weg zu bringen, dafür steht das Unternehmen Odradek. Man darf gespannt sein, was in den nächsten 10 Jahren an neuen Projekten entstehen wird. También os vamos a contar la historia de uno de los poetas más importantes de la historia, el alemán Friedrich Holderlin, que después de entender que el hombre moderno se adentraba en la tragedia de vivir en un mundo inhabitable tras la desaparición de los dioses tras los cambios propiciados por la Ilustración, pasó por un psiquiátrico y acabó encerrado en una torre de Tubinguen durante 37 años. Hoy nos adentramos, una vez más, en los abismos de la locura, y deberemos tener cuidado de que uno de sus tentáculos no nos acabe atrapando y sucumbamos, quien sabe, si a lo sublime que se esconde más allá de los delirios de mentes privilegiadas.

This week Seb and Verity are crossing the Atlantic (virtually) again for a chat with tour manager, production manager and co-founder of Music Runs, Tom Carlson. Gabriele D’Annunzio und sein Versuch, mit einer Handvoll Freischärler die Stadt Fiume ‘heim‘ nach Italien zu holen, waren eines der Lieblingsthemen der Berliner Tageszeitungen im Jahr 1920 und ein wiederkehrendes Sujet auch hier im Podcast. So schillernd die Dichterherrschaft über die Kvarner-Bucht ausfiel, so prosaisch war indes ihr Ende. Unter dem Druck der Alliierten hatte die italienische Regierung in Rom im Grenzvertrag von Rapallo alle Ansprüche auf Fiume fallengelassen und dessen Umwandlung in einen von Italien wie von Jugoslawien unabhängigen Freistaat zugestimmt. Empört erklärte D’Annunzio daraufhin in grotesker Selbstüberschätzung seinem Vaterland Italien den Krieg – und wurde durch dessen reguläre Truppen in einer ‘Blutigen Weihnacht‘ entwaffnet und aus der Stadt vertrieben. Auch ohne Uniformen der staatlichen Armee schafften sie doch militärisch Fakten und bereiteten den Anschluss des auch von Litauen beanspruchten Gebietes an Polen vor. Die Freiheit vom 12. Viviamo sempre come se fosse il nostro ultimo giorno: questa è l’essenza stessa del piacere! Le frasi sul piacere ci raccontano appunto cosa significa godersi ogni attimo, anche se questo potrebbe avere delle conseguenze più o meno piacevoli. Alla scoperta del piacere Piacere. Possibile che un semplice termine sia in grado di richiamare alla mente immagini inebrianti, scenari fantastici e volti così tanto amati? Sì, se il piacere di aver visto, toccato, amato cose e persone è ancora così tangibile e così vivo in noi. Il termine piacere può assumere tanti significati quanti sono i contesti in cui esso è utilizzato: può indicare l’estasi di un momento, l’incanto per aver fatto una nuova conoscenza e, persino, la gioia per aver ritrovato qualcuno o qualcosa che si credeva di aver perso. Provare a definire il piacere, del resto, non è proprio un’impresa semplice perché ognuno di noi ha una certa sensibilità, magari anche molto differente da quella altrui. Ciò che per alcuni può rappresentare il piacere, infatti, può non esser visto allo stesso modo da altre persone. Il piacere, al pari di sentimenti come gioia, felicità e passione, può ben diventare l’essenza stessa della nostra vita purché la sua ricerca non diventi spasmodica. Molti, infatti, ricercano il piacere facendo ricorso a sostanze stupefacenti oppure arrivando a stordirsi con alcolici e imprese al limite del legale: ma perché rovinarsi la vita quando si può essere felici anche con poco? Mangiare, bere, ammirare un tramonto, innamorarsi, camminare mano nella mano, scrivere, leggere o dipingere sono attività semplici e banali ma che possono condurre a un immenso piacere. Il piacere: gioia effimera o duratura? Quando stiamo bene con noi stessi e in compagnia degli altri, quando trascorriamo del tempo in piacevole compagnia oppure se ci deliziamo con un bel pranzo luculliano, il tempo sembra scorrere davvero molto velocemente. Se stiamo bene, infatti, vuol dire che abbiamo raggiunto una nuova consapevolezza. Quando raggiungiamo l’estasi, quando arriviamo a toccare il piacere con mano, la vita ci sembra di colpo più bella, degna di essere vissuta pienamente. Il celebre Vate, l’illustre D’Annunzio, considerati uno dei massimi cultori del piacere, ben sapeva quanto esso potesse allietare i giorni dell’essere umano. Il piacere, non a caso, ci è quasi offerto dalla natura su di un piatto d’argento e a noi non resta altro che stendere la mano e afferrare tutte le gioie che essa vuole offrirci.

He uses the set-up of the play as an analogy for multinational companies that have different ‘living stories’ in multiple locations.
