Welcome to another episode of Monday minutes where we kick start your week. Every Monday in less than five minutes, I think today might be six or seven. And the only rule is that I want you to put it into action, Quickstart your week, kickstart your heart, do whatever you do that gets you going, but just make sure you never get stuck and never get those feet cemented in place because this is about moving forward because it's about progress and not perfection.Last week, I talked about grace in a very heartfelt episode that I felt was needed. And this morning when I was meditating, something kept popping in my mind. I was listening to quantum mechanics and quantum physics. And this thing didn't let me go. And I had this gut intuition that this is what I was going to share. And so now that we have grace, you know what we need the story of you. And one of my favorite songs is by an artist named  SatSang. And it's called the story of you. My second favorite song is called I am. But the reason I say this is because there is no other, you. I need you, your friends need you, your family needs you. Your team needs you and the world needs you because your story is powerful. And so today I would like to share part of my story by reading something that somebody wrote about me. It took me 10 years of being interviewed, pull out somebody write a story about me that I was willing to put on my website because of the level of acceptance and grace that I had worked towards to love myself. And I love myself. And so I'm just going to read this story. If you want to read along. It's on  www.mindofgeorge.com and it's on the about page. But as I read this, I want you to understand that your story is you and I don't ever want you to dim that story or did not light. I want you to shine it bright and far. And so full disclosure, this episode might go over a couple of minutes, it's not a long story, but I'm just going to read the story because it's important to me and your story's important to you in the world. And so I'd like to share mine. This story was written by one of our mastermind members and family members, Eliya Finkelstein. Her website is heyeliya.com. She's the master of storytelling. So Eliya, thank you for interviewing me for three hours and pulling the story out and writing it for me and helping me.Here we go in a single moment as time hung suspended in air, a little hazel eyed boy teetered on the edge of a decision that they'll pivot for him in his own life was about to be monumental for his father. The little boy knocked something off a table. And as it hit the floor and smashed into me tiny pieces, he frozen place, a reflexive move, young children use, or they way the meaning of a new moment.Well, he weighed these questions? What just happened? Did I do something wrong? Am I in trouble? Am I safe? Am I okay? Am I okay? The silence quickly filled with sobs is tiered flowed, freely time collapsing again, because of this simple unknowing, a quest for acknowledgement and a need for answers opened a new void that was filling with fear and more tears as fast as the tears came. So did his father who wrapped his son in his arms to do his great fathers do and answer the questions, a bait, the fear and fill the void. It was an accident. It's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong, Bubs. You are okay. You are not broken. You are okay. I love you. Okay. But as that father built his son up in one of those moments, parents innately know to be crucial in their child's life. He was crumbling inside. The events of his own life, filled his mind. All the times he beat himself up and was angry at himself for doing something wrong, how it turned into the desperation to control each moment of his life to manipulate the situation and to never let his guard down. He realized that he wasn't okay. He had never been okay. Not from the time he himself was a small boy looking for the very reassurance he was now giving his own son. A reassurance that never appeared as a result, his life had been filled with hurt. And in turn, he had been spending his life hurting himself, hurting his relationships and hurting his business. As he stood, rocking his baby in his arms, he realized he didn't love himself the way he loved his son. And he never had, and it was destroying him. As far back as George Bryant can remember, he has searched for someone to tell him he was okay. Born as a baby addicted to cocaine, to a mother who struggled with severe mental illnesses and a dysfunctional family. Life was never okay. He talks openly now of stories of abuse, first physical and sexual of driving his father's Harley Davidson through the door of a shed at four years old of violence, bullying, self harm, eating disorders, screaming for attention, screaming for validation, desperate to feel loved and desperate to just feel.He talks openly about what can only be comprehended as his unwavering will to survive the life the hand he had been dealt. His story from there as one of your accounts, as a cycle of not feeling good enough, driving himself physically harder than should be humanly possible just to prove his worth and then sabotaging his progress only to repeat that process again. It played out in his years in the Marine Corps were an extreme addiction to body image and weight loss led to bulemia, overexercising, compartment syndrome, where he almost lost his legs recovery, a world record, attempt to triathlons, a paleo lifestyle. And then finally his outwardly successful brand, the civilized caveman. Finally, it seemed like he had one, like he was enough, like things were okay, but even then behind the scenes, life was falling apart. Civilized caveman, it turned into another form of addiction for George who found himself addicted to the dopamine and the feeling of being loved. Every single decision he made to scale that business turned from one of helping others to a quest for another way to amass more likes on social media, more comments and more fans.I started to see it as a demon in my life. George says, but it was also a backdoor I was keeping open. Like a backdoor to mediocrity, a backdoor into old patterns and habits and addictions. I knew I needed to get rid of it, but I didn't have the courage. I wasn't willing to own that civilized caveman was my identity and I'd identified myself as it. I wasn't really willing to let it go because I didn't want to stand in my power. I was more committed to being right than I was committed to being good.So George continued to pour in a civilized. Caveman is all addicts do without seeing or knowing a way out. He was allowing it to be his identity, a place of comfort and familiarity. Still things continued to integrate around him in his relationships with others and himself. At the same time, he picked up working as a digital marketing consultant on the side, a move that would serve as the final permission slip that he needed to close the door on civilized caveman. Seeing other succeed was the first time George started to believe in his own abilities. It finally came to a head when the morning after a transformational experience at Iowasca George woke to make the first business decision he ever made completely for himself. He called a friend and handed over his entire civilized caveman empire, the whole company, and simply walked away even then old ways die hard. And his work as a consultant initially went down the same path as everything he had just walked away from. A lot of those demons carried over. He said for about a year and a half, I felt like I was in purgatory. And it was worse than when I had caveman. Being a digital marketing guy who was creating millions and millions and millions of dollars in results. But I was so empty and dead inside because I was just recreating the same addiction. And then one day his small son dropped something on the floor and the world changed for George.I got to witness my story happen and an 18 month old, pure ball of love and perfection. And it broke me. Tell me how a one and a half year old is afraid of doing something wrong.I had 30 years of my life flash before my eyes, all the times that I beat myself up and I was angry at myself. I never needed to be it rocked George to his core, left him empty and void and scared in a whole new way. He realized he hadn't loved himself like he loved his son. Like the ball of pure love and perfection he wants was to who just needed to know if he was wrong or if he was okay.It just took George 30 years to answer that for himself. 30 years to begin to fix what was broken within himself. What most of us never even recognize, let alone face head on. You can put a nail in a fence and if you take the nail out, the hole is still there. Right? That shifted everything for me, because I realized I can't be a father. I can't be a business coach. I can't be a business partner. If an every conversation I'm coming from a place that I'm broken, there's something wrong with me. I'm just going to make everybody's problems worse and repeat the same cycle. If I do that. I knew I needed to dedicate my life to falling in love with myself and documenting the journey. So I fired all of my clients that were once my heroes and I walked away and cut out every bit of cancer that was in my life and filled every leak in my bucket. It was hard, but it was the only thing that would allow me to be in integrity. Integrity is what George walks in every day. It's in every relationship he built with his team, with his customers, his family and himself. You see in the way he shares his stories and the way he builds his business, nothing is forced or faked from fear. George shows up from his heart authentic and humble and real. His business exists as a part of himself now, not as a separate entity and it's stronger for it. His signature framework is as a lighthouse, the quintessential immovable, unshakable solid strong symbol of light and hope and guidance.Every lesson he teaches comes from his journey back to love. And once you know what to look for, you see it everywhere. Fulfillment, sequences, nurture sequences, and out carrying the competition. Even as trademark slogan relationships beat algorithms. All of it, straight from the pages of his own love story. It's why I say nobody has a marketing problem. Everybody has a relationship problem with themselves, their team and their customers informed not order because the biggest shifts in my life happened when I started doing more with less and spending that time with myself, George pauses, chuckles and escapes in a quick moment of reflection. And I can't believe I'm rewarded for being a decent human. So for those of you listening or watching, thank you. For letting me share my story. Eliya, thank you for writing my story. And I want to remind you today that your story is yours and the world needs your story and you are amazing, perfect, loving, complete whole human being. And I'm honored to have you in my world. And I can't wait to hear, see, and feel your story and the impact that it has on the world. And I've gotten a couple comments and messages lately about how I am online or what people see or what you hear in the podcast. And one of them struck me and I understand., I followed you because I thought you were this and now you're this, but then you're back to this. And I realized that I'm documenting my growth in my journey. And that's okay. People that inspire you be around people that pull out the best version of yourself, but never advocate your responsibility or sovereignty to somebody else. My mission for the rest of my life is to be authentic and congruent to who I am. And so there's going to be podcasts that I cry posts, where I laugh ones that I'm scared ones that I may be lost and trying to find myself, but they will all be authentic to where I am in that moment. And I'm sure I'm going to bump my knee and skin, my shins and stub my toe plenty of times, but I'm welcoming that journey of growth and love. And I invite you to do the same.So thank you for being here and this Monday minute, that ended up being around 13 to 15 minutes. Bonus episode for those that you listened, I hope you enjoyed it. Remember, your story is yours and the world needs it. Kickstart your week. Positive mindset. Put progress into motion. Keep moving forward. If you lose focus, come back. If I can do anything to support you, I will be in the Facebook group. And remember that relationships will always beat

This is The Do It For Yourself Podcast.  Each week I sit down with someone who is doing it for themselves and chasing a dream they just couldn’t suppress.  This is often speakers, entrepreneurs, or athletes.  They all share one thing in common, they are overcoming challenges and never giving up.  Someone who is Doing It For Themselves is not selfish in their pursuit, they are simply chasing a dream or working towards a goal because it is something THEY want to do.  They are not forging down a path because society or someone is telling them it’s what they should be doing. This week my guest is George Bryant.  George is an entrepreneur, author, speaker, father, and much more.  I am really excited to bring you this week's episode as I have been a follower of George's for a long time now. When George was a child, he struggled with abuse.  George was bullied as a child in school and this followed him throughout his life.  By the time George got to high school, he could see the writing on the wall.  He knew he needed to make a change, he knew if he stayed where he was, he wasn't going to go anywhere.  The thought of running away popped into his head, but he realized quickly that he would need money to do that.  Option two would be the military.  He could "run away" but get paid while doing it. George made up his mind to enlist in the military, went to the recruiter's office ready to join but was turned away.  The reason....he was told he was "too fat" and would never make it.  George left the office that day, returned six months later, no longer "too fat" and he enlisted in the military.  Just days after graduating from high school George was on a plane to begin his new journey.  George didn't join the military because it was something he was really passionate about, it was more that he could get out of the situation that he was in, AND get paid for it. George lost the weight to get into the military but this was not the first instance he had an issue with eating.  George had an experience when he was 15 when he went to rent a suit for a dance.  Due to George's size, he needed a different size jacket and pants and he was ok with that, but what George couldn't handle was the comments from his mother.  This made him so upset, that he got sick to his stomach and in some way this made him feel better.  George began to realize that when he was upset, mad, didn't matter if he made himself sick, he felt better.  This began a VERY long journey with bulimia.  George went on to struggle with these habits through the military and it compounded with the working out. While George was in the military he realized that he didn't have the privacy to purge that he had before enlisting in the military and it put him into a cold-turkey stop.  That was up until he began to find himself in extremely stressful situations.  George had a situation that forced him into emergency surgery and put him into a wheelchair for 12 months.  This brought back all of his bad habits with eating a purging.  While going through his recovery, George attempted suicide one night and he realized that he needed to make a change, if he didn't get things together he wasn't going to be able to go back into the military, he didn't save any money and he had no skills.  George made a full recovery and returned to the military from 2006 until 2013. In 2013 George had suffered from over seven concussions and had brain injuries.  It was going to take six months for recovery but George had used all of his allotted time already.  George was so worried to leave the military because he didn't know what he was going to transition to but the doctor who he was seeing had to recommend he be medically discharged.   Prior to being discharged, George discovered Tim Ferris's book the 4 Hour Body, and also found the paleo diet.  In the original book, Tim Ferris says to eat clean for one week, and then you were allowed to binge.  As hard as he tried, George couldn't binge and this helped him control something that was controlling him for so long.  Through this process, George began to cook and post these things on Facebook.  George had no idea what he was doing but he knew that people were looking and so he just kept going.  Because George was gaining some traction on Facebook someone suggests that he start posting things on a blog instead of a website.  After months of posting on his blog, someone suggested he take these recipes and put them in an ebook.  George had no idea what he was doing  Even though he was so clueless about what he was doing, George just kept moving forward, posting, selling ebooks and it was working.  There were some hard lessons that George had to learn, such as paying taxes, but it all worked out.  George began building relationships, his website, and his business.  He was all consumed in this and he was loving it.  Given George’s personality, as you maybe can imagine, this relationship with Civilized Caveman and the internet became very unhealthy.  George was living his life for other people and he was now addicted to social media and this company.  It became too much and he knew that it was time to move on.  George felt wrong selling this because he felt like he would be selling an addiction.  George found a friend and told him that he was giving him to the company and that was it.  After deleting his social media for over a year George went through a long period of healing.  George listened to the people around him in order to improve who he was.  He really took a lot of time to work on himself which has in turn helped him build a successful business of helping others.  George has an amazing story and I am so happy to have the opportunity to share it here on the podcast.   George on Facebook George's Website George's Instagram   Do It For Yourself Instagram

On this episode we interview Digital Marketing Expert, Founder of Civilized Cavemen, and New York Times Best Selling Author George Bryant. George's personal journey is a story of triumph through adversity. Specifically, during his career as a marine he overcame a one-year period of rehabilitation after almost losing his legs in Somalia, due to exercise induced compartmental syndrome. After multiple deployments to Afghanistan, he was medically discharged from the United States Marines due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. However, it's George's journey to overcome this adversity that led to his current success as an entrepreneur. During his transition out of the Marines, George began a journey to achieve his health outcomes and documented it all online. Throughout the process, George attracted a following which would eventually become the civilized caveman community. On his way out of the marines, he sold an e-book to his community which earned more money in that one product than he had made in one year as an E6 Marine. That e-book, "The Paleo Kitchen" was eventually published and became a 22-week New York Times Best Seller (hitting #4 globally). It has been this commitment to radical openness that has allowed George to overcome PTSD, bouts of depression, and handle the many ups and downs associated with launching multiple successful business ventures. Some big pieces of advice that George has for aspiring entrepreneurs, it's important to acknowledge that riding on previous success can give you a false sense of security. There are some aspects of previous successes that may help you during your transition, however, what determines your success is the effort that your willing to put into what you are doing every single day. Additionally, if you bring too much ego into business then you are committing yourself to always needing to be right, meaning that others including your customers and your team are wrong, watch out for ego. Lastly, don't be too romantic over your business model to the point that you string an idea along way beyond it's shelf life, to your detriment. George is not a big consumer of other s' content as he is more of an intuitive experimenter who learns by doing. George states that "the enemy of success is when you consume so much information, that you end up not doing anything". In addition, he has been massively successful in his approach, which has helped translate into marketing and consulting opportunities helping companies like Adidas, Men's health, Women's Health, Titleist, Reebok, and Onnit ethically scale. Furthermore, he is a big believer in Gary Vee's belief that ideas are crap without execution. You can find George Bryant on LinkedIn, but according the George, the best place to keep up with his story is on Instagram @civilizedcaveman where George says he personally answers every single DM that's sent his way.

The transformations he has gone through from his military career to PTSD. His struggles with bulimia when he was 15 years old and the abuse that both he and his brother experienced from their parents. The "I have to be the best" mindset he had going into the Marine Corps. How he developed exercise compartment syndrome by overworking his body and what it took to have it treated and to recover. The moment his father was diagnosed with cancer and how George helped him during that time up until his death. His process of acknowledging, embracing, and letting go of shame and other emotions in order to move forward. Why he decided to come out and be authentic at Paleo Fx about being sexually abused when he was a child. How talking and having a human connection to therapy can allow you to let go of old emotions, self-sabotage, and trauma. His own struggles with empathy in specific situations and how he became aware of it. How difficult it was to unravel 30 years of beliefs and create a new, authentic story in a short amount of time. The fact that more people aren't dealing with their inner traumas and depression when they should be. Different experiences people can have while undergoing MDMA therapy including his own. How he's now able to come from a place of love instead of experiencing cycles of anger. The work he does every day and the breakthroughs that have happened because of his daily practices. Why there's no cheating, only choices and it's okay if we fail because later we get to make a better choice. Why he actually doesn't like cooking and how he used it as accountability to help him grow. What's wrong with the Marine culture as far as pain, winning, and leadership. The biggest breakthrough he made this year - accepting that he can't do it all alone. Power Quotes From The Show "Human connection is the remedy but the first step is to discover an authentic connection to yourself. It's about who you are at the core; not who you think you are or pretend to be but unapologetically who you are at the core." - @CookingCaveman http://bit.ly/wfpodcast "Talking, in general, is the most underutilized and important facet of any healing. I don't care if it's with a therapist, a mirror, or your dog. How do you neutralize fault, shame, blame, and guilt? It's really, really simple. Those emotions only have power over you as long as you allow them to stay your head." - George Bryant "There's this illusion that once you've done the work, you can let go of everything but that's not true at all. You learn how to coexist with the feeling to the point of where it's no longer toxic but neutral. As I go through my life and have all of these experiences, every one of these experiences is like a new neighbor moving into my neighborhood. The truth is that I really hate some of those neighbors and when I resist them, they resist back stronger. When I can love my neighbors by simply acknowledging their existence, they become neutral and I can choose not to listen to them or give them power for just 30 seconds before I take it back. It's a daily practice." - George Bryant "If there are any thoughts that we have in our brain, mind, or being that are taking up real estate or affecting an emotion that's anything but neutral, that only reason that it's capable of doing that is because there's only one person that knows that it's even happening and that's us. These thoughts keep us disconnected, in self-sabotage mode, and we stop ourselves from telling anybody because we want to be right about our stories and it's uncomfortable to go to the other side. However, the moment you can take a thought and speak it into the universe, it neutralizes the charge because it's no longer just yours; now it's everybody's." - George Bryant   Links From Today's Show George Bryant LinkedIn Facebook Twitter Civilized Caveman Facebook Instagram YouTube The Paleo Kitchen by George Bryant and Juli Bauer Civilized Caveman Lifestyle Facebook Group George Bryant aka Civilized Caveman on Bacon and Have We Gone Too Far? I sat down with George Bryant for a "Fireside Chat" during our three-day intensive workshop in Miami in March. It is impossible to not be inspired by George's passion, resolve and genuine love for his customers. His process for engagement is priceless and his rapid-fire delivery of value, makes a talk with him, one to replay over and over again. "We mapped out a customer journey to understand people' decision-making points, to understand their pain points, solve them, and then give them things that didn't require them to buy, but actually help them create a solution on their own, then our product became a supplement to that routine." The 3 things customers need: - Permission to take an action. - To feel safe doing it. - A promise that you will hold them accountable. Tyler Merrick is attempting to save the world, one pack of gum at a time. A serial entrepreneur, Merrick is the founder and CEO of Project 7, a premium gum, mint and candy brand built around a core social mission. Launched in 2009, the company donates a portion from each purchase to support seven areas of need in the U.S. and across the globe, including hunger, homelessness, clean water, and anti-bullying initiatives. Merrick initially envisioned Project 7 as a “Newman’s Own 2.0” brand for commodity goods, including bottle water, coffee and snacks, each aligned with tangible giveback. In an interview included in this episode of Taste Radio, he explained that the bold concept ultimately missed the mark and, in his words, became “the most expensive cause marketing campaign in America.” The lessons from its failure, however, provided key insights for Project 7’s rebirth and repositioning. “After time, we found out that there wasn’t anything special about the products," he said. "It hurt a lot to learn those hard lessons. [We realized] we’ve got back to a core product, so we focused on gum. And we’ve got to make it about a product first and foremost.” While Merrick may want you to chew more gum, George Bryant would prefer a more Paleo approach to your snacking habits. The founder of Civilized Caveman, a website and blog focused on the paleo lifestyle and diet, Bryant is also the author of New York Times best selling book, “The Paleo Kitchen.” Bryant joined us for an interview at BevNET Live Winter 2017 where he spoke about his advocacy for paleo eating and opened up his journey from the military to his current role as a influential voice in the food world. Also included in this episode: a conversation with Genius Juice co-founder and CEO Alex Bayer, who discussed the trials and tribulations of his coconut smoothie brand, which has undergone several pivots since its launch in 2013. In this week’s edition of Elevator Talk, we caught up with Laura Jakobsen, the founder and "chief rioter" of Tea Riot, a innovative brand of tea and juice blends. Show notes: 1:26: Green Milk and Crunchy Sauerkraut -- The hosts consume, crunch and confabulate over snack and drink samples sent to the office this week, including BOS Rooibos, Delighted By Dessert Hummus, Seedlip, Farmhouse Culture Kraut Krisps, Iconic Protein Coconut Matcha, Good Citizens Shells and White Cheddar, Sejoyia Coco-Thins, Big Red and Kay's Naturals Pass the Peas. 12:58: Interview: Tyler Merrick, Founder/CEO, Project 7 -- In an interview recorded at NOSH Live Winter 2017, Merrick joined John Craven, Carol Ortenberg and Mike Schneider for a discussion about Project 7 and the brand’s genesis, early struggles and relaunch, and how he attempts to align the brand’s mission with current ingredient and marketing trends. 36:29: Interview: George Bryant, Founder, The Civilized Caveman -- Mike Schneider and Carol Ortenberg sat down with Bryant at BevNET Live Winter 2017 where he opened up about his life and career and how his struggles with depression and an eating disorder shaped his belief system. Bryant also opined that “people don’t buy from brands, they buy from people” and that “the more dehumanized brands are, the less likely they are to survive.” 52:51: Interview: Alex Bayer, Co-Founder, Genius Juice -- Alex Bayer is the founder and CEO of Genius Juice, a brand of coconut-based smoothies. We spoke with Alex about his journey as an entrepreneur and how he'd managed the brand's evolution and maintained focus amid constant challenges. 1:05:18: Elevator Talk: Laura Jakobsen, Founder, Tea Riot -- We first met Laura Jakobsen at BevNET Live Winter 2015. She's the founder and "chief rioter" of tea and juice brand Tea Riot and took part in the event's New Beverage Showdown 10 competition. We caught up with Laura again at BevNET Live Winter 2017 where she discussed the genesis, growth and wins for the brand.

Today’s guest George Bryant is the co-author of the New York Times best-selling cookbook, The Paleo Kitchen, and the man behind the Civilized Caveman, the top paleo blog in the world. George and Nicholas dig deep today, talking about changing out internal perspective to not only have success but to also be able to handle our success. They discuss the self-limiting challenges that many face and how to overcome those obstacles in order to expand your experiences that will then define your success.    Time Stamped Show Notes [3:10] Building trust quickly: Authenticity. [6:43] Commitment: The one mentality that has stuck with George over the years. [11:25] The Four Rules, eliminating the lies of who you aren’t and surrendering your “ideals”. [18:08] Seeking out what you fear most. [20:02] The Power of Radical Honesty. [29:30] The Fear of Success and Self Sabotage: Silencing Your Inner Critic. [44:30] You're “WHY’ is greater. [63:02] Being uncomfortable.                                                         Takeaways: “Commitment is not feelings.” It doesn't matter if you’re tired, if you don’t feel good, if you don’t want to. As George said in his example of caring for his son, despite how George feels in the moment, he said, “I have to get up and tend to his (his son’s) needs. That’s commitment.” “What is happening in this moment right now isn’t definite, it just is. And what happened a moment ago can’t be changed. But what I choose to do in the next moment is going to define my results one week from now, one month from now, and one year from now.” Your improvement just needs to be 1% better than what you are currently doing and you will see your results increase. The Four Rules: No Fault, No Blame, No Guilt, No Shame. Why? Because the truth is if someone says something that upsets you, it has nothing to do with them and everything to do with you. You get to decide and make a choice of how those words, situation, circumstances will affect you. You are the one who will choose whether or not to put the fault on others, to pin blame, to carry the guilt, or to feel the shame. It is 100% your choice on how things impact you. “You’re not in a monogamous relationship with food, there isn't any cheating only choices. Choose not to put it in your mouth next time.” What you see as ideal isn’t actually the best for you. You can only see as far as you’ve grown. The biggest fear in being authentic isn’t that people will judge you, it’s that you actually might succeed. When we hold on to the things we are subversively self-sabotaging. Because many think that if they don’t show up as their authentic selves they don’t have to commit to success. We are actually afraid of freedom and peace, and society supports that. If you actually accept who you are you can conquer the fear.   If you enjoyed this podcast then make sure to get our free Testosterone boosting checklist here (www.thebilliondollarbody.com/checklist   Thanks for listening, Nicholas Bayerle PS: Haven’t connected with us on Instagram yet? Food matters. Eating food is one of the most intimate things that we’ll ever experience in life. You are literally taking something from outside of yourself and deciding (consciously or unconsciously) to make it a part of you. If we’re asleep to the real power of food, we won’t realize that every-single-thing we eat is changing every-single-cell in our bodies. Your genes, your DNA, your upwards of 100 trillion cells, are all in action to convert that chosen food into more you. Now, here’s the real kicker of the situation… You get to CHOOSE what you’re made out of. You can make yourself out of the most vitalizing, storied, health-giving foods in the world - or you can make yourself out of Honey Buns, Fruit Loops, Cheetos, and Skittles. Grass-fed steak, bananas, or bagels… the choice is always up to you. Now, that can be incredibly empowering, or incredibly scary depending on where your mindset is at. Navigating this world of food today takes a special kind of awareness and heart. That's why we brought on our special guest today, because he’s all heart, he developed awareness through experience, and he can make you a meal that will bring tears to your eyes (like that single tear rolling down your cheek seen only in a movie scene). Our guest today is New York Times bestselling author George Bryant (also known as the man behind Civilized Caveman Cooking). Today is going to be a real treat because the Civilized Caveman himself is here to share his story and his secrets with you. We’re going to talk about our crucial relationship with food, overcoming eating disorders, deeply impacting the lives of others, recipes that will change your life, plus a whole lot more. In this episode you'll discover: How you can be a master in the kitchen in a lot less time than you think. Why a “degree” is not the solution to helping people. Why the food you make yourself and your family matters more than anything. What a triggering event means in relationship to eating disorders. What some of the symptoms of bulimia really are. How George was able to finally overcome bulimia (this is a powerful story!) Why authenticity, congruency, and vulnerability are essential to long-term success. How to make S.M.A.R.T. commitments to yourself and others. Why it’s important to speak up in order to gain support in our lives. How our relationship with food shapes our life. Why an obsession with eating healthy can also be problematic. How our perception of food creates our experience of eating. What some of the Civilized Caveman’s favorite recipes are (you don’t want to miss this!) Items mentioned in this episode include: * Onnit.com/Model

We've already topped Food Network and a bunch of other apps to take #1 in "Food & Drink" category, and we are even in the Top 10 overall! It is just shocking and humbling, and we'd just really like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for you support and for believing in real food. If you've downloaded the app already, we'd love for you to leave a review. And if you haven't checked it out yet, we're offering it at just $.99 for just a short while longer! We'd love to hit #1 overall, and need your help to do that! Again, thank you so much for your support, we cannot tell you how much it means to us. Alright, on today's show we have Dr Alan Christianson. You may know him from seeing him on CNN, the "Today Show" or "The Doctors," along with many other places. He is a specialist in the thyroid, and the author of "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Thyroid Disease." To top it all off, in his spare time he's into mountain unicycling! On today's show we talk about: What you need to know about your thyroid. Why you might consider eating protein in the morning. What's it's like to be a semi-pro off-road unicyclist.

On this episode, George Bryant of the uber-popular blog, Civilized Caveman, opens up to Camille about 10+ years of erratic weight issues (has been 150-250 lbs), coming out about his struggles with bulimia, eating paleo as an active duty marine in Afghanistan, and the amazing emotional and physical transformation that he has had through eating paleo and connecting with a community of people who love him. A story of transformation that men and women alike will love. Oh, George also gives us the 411 on how to eat paleo everyday with less than 30 minutes of prep. Episode eight of Live. Love. Eat. has now been posted!  In it I had the enormous honor of speaking with George Bryant, an enormously kick ass soul and dear friend of mine, who also happens to be super famous and to run the website Civilized Caveman Cooking Creations, as well as the new e-Cookbook, Caveman Feast. In this episode, George and I discuss his history with eating disorders, the damaging effects of weight regulation in the military, what it means to be a man with body image issues, the lessons a recent car accident taught George, and why he no longer cares about looking hot.
