He teaches his audience the difference between chemically-extracted and expeller-pressed seed oil, facilitating informative dialogue about healthy fats. With a Detox Project-certified hummus brand, Chris ensures his chickpeas are glyphosate-free, delivering healthy products to consumers. But why is glyphosate herbicide showing up in non-GMO and organic foods too? In this episode of the Fast Lane with Sara Jayne podcast, Sara Jayne speaks with Henry Rowlands of The Detox Project about testing people for chemical exposure, health problems caused by glyphosate, the history of glyphosate, and the importance of making chemical exposure a personal issue. This episode provides valuable insight into how chemicals affect us and what we can do to change the current system.  Episode Highlights: Henry describes The Detox Project, which started as a testing organization. They concentrate on hair testing. They test for agricultural pesticides. They do testing on lots of people in different populations. The other side of their work is about food testing to check for pesticides in food products.Henry grew up on an organic farm in rural Wales. He created his own platform, Sustainable Pulse, to publish articles about pesticides.Glyphosate was designed in the 1960s to clean out metal pipes. In the 1970s people began using it as a weedkiller. It changed agriculture forever because it became easier to kill weeds and produce the same crop over and over on the same land.In 2015 it was found that glyphosate causes non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.Glyphosate causes many different problems. It's a chemical that everyone should know about because it's something found in the majority of the population.93% of the population have this chemical in their bodies. The main argument for using glyphosate is that we're getting larger yields to feed the growing population. However, in reality, that's not true because we don't just eat wheat, oats, soybeans, and corn. The seed/chemical cycle has caught up farmers in this specific business system. It's a system that benefits only the chemical companies.Using these chemicals has nothing to do with the amount. It's all about regular use. Ask if the weeds are really causing you a specific problem. In lawsuits, the EPA has shown to be working with the chemical companies. The EPA does not do any safety testing on toxic chemicals. Many people don't think they're personally affected. They tested politicians in Europe and then saw a huge change in agricultural policy in the EU.Hair testing empowers people to try to avoid the chemicals that will actually cause them a health issue in the future.Learn how to get a testing kit online through The Detox Project website. They focus on finding out about the exposure and doing the research on where the chemicals are.The ultimate aim to educate as widely as possible. 3 Key Points:Hair testing can help you learn about your long-term chemical exposure.Glyphosate is a widely used pesticide that causes numerous health problems. When thinking about chemical exposure, what’s important is what you’re exposed to on a regular basis. Resources Mentioned:Sustainable PulseThe Detox ProjectHenry Rowlands LinkedInFast Lane FacebookFast Lane on Apple Podcasts

Glyphosate has been around initially, believe it or not, since 1980. At that time, things like autism, Alzheimer's, and obesity were really low on the radar but year by year, they have increased as we continued to use this chemical. How could one chemical cause such a diversity of diseases? It is because it destroys our immune system, digestive system, and even our mood. You have to pay the rent, the electricity, and the water bill. So, every single day, your body actually has a daily need for different bills to be paid with nutrients and minerals. If those bills don't get paid, then those services get shut down. Most people have never paid their bills every day and they have no idea of what real health looks like until we show them and it blows their minds." - Dave Sandoval   Experiencing Freedom With Purium "If you're not free from disease, illness, or being beholden to a system of medicine or just any system, then you're not truly free. I believe that freedom is the most powerful motivator it's just we haven't tapped into it in so long. When people work with Purium and can live where they want to live, work the hours they want to work, wake when they are rested, rest when they're tired, eat when they're hungry, take the days off they need, make the money they want to make and choose the people that they work with, they start to experience true freedom." - Dave Sandoval   Cleaning The Inside Of Your Body From Glyphosate "When people ask me, 'Well, why do I have to clean the inside of my body,' I ask them whether they shower, brush their teeth, or wash their hair and how often. Once you start cleaning the outside of the body, you're not going to think of it as something that you can do once and then walk away. Just like the first time you took a shower, you didn't say, 'Oh, I'm clean now. I don't need to do that again.' When you start to develop external hygienic habits, you don't stop them so why would you stop an internal hygiene practice?" - Dave Sandoval     Links From Today's Show  Join the Wellness Force Team and partner with Purium for our July 7th 2020 kickoff. Welcome back to episode 405 of the Whole View. (0:27) Today Stacy and Sarah are talking about a super interesting topic submitted a listener. Which, if you didn't know this already, we love it when you email us. Sarah shared some behind the scenes information on where listener questions come from. There are Stacy's requests, listener questions, and the really challenging listener questions. The question in discussion in this episode is one of those really hard ones that has been in the queue for a long time. Sarah was able to pull together the information for this show because she actually did a lot of research on this topic for her gut microbiome book. And of course, Sarah did extra research to address the many facets of this challenging question. Stacy is excited about this science rich show.   Listener Question Is the EWG's dirty dozen list based on strong science? (3:37) My husband listened to two episodes of the Skeptoid podcast on organic vs. conventional farming. Mr. Dunning said that we are being duped into paying extra for organic produce. It is sprayed with larger amounts of pesticides than those used in conventional farming and the organic pesticides have been shown to cause disease. My husband believes Mr. Dunning because he provides references and appears to be liberal and non-biased in other podcasts.   I have been purchasing organic produce according to the Environmental Working Group's dirty dozen list. It says on the Activist Facts website that "There’s really only one thing you need to know about the Environmental Working Group when it comes to its studies of toxins: 79 percent of members of the Society of Toxicology (scientists who know a little something about toxins) who rated the group say that the Environmental Working Group overstates the health risk of chemicals. I am walking around with holes in my shirts, and I haven't gotten the air conditioning fixed in my car, so that I can afford organic food. Am I wasting my money? I feel like I cannot trust anyone but you.   Preface Stacy wanted to refer listeners to listen back to previous episodes for information on how both Stacy and Sarah have evolved the way they purchase and prioritize their own foods within their budget. (5:06) Neither Stacy nor Sarah buys everything organically. Nothing that Stacy and Sarah are going to discuss in this episode is intended to be a judgment on you or your family or what you did in the past or what you are doing now. This is all education so that you can be empowered to make the choices that are best for your family at the correct time for you. Where Stacy's family is today, ten years later, is a lot different than where they were ten years ago. The goal of this episode is to help you so that you can walk away and ask questions. There is a larger philosophy that each family needs to adapt to what works best for them. No one is perfect. If you are starting in your journey, you don't need to forego the necessities to have organic food. There is a way to prioritize your budget in a way that is consistent with what your family believes in. Healthy living choices are so personal.   Foundational Choices & Next Level Choices Sarah wanted to emphasize that there are foundational health principles. Nutrient density diet, eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, getting enough sleep, managing stress, and living an active lifestyle. Then Sarah thinks of the next level steps like adding some biohacks, supplements, purchasing grass-fed beef, and organic fruits and vegetables. We need to first make sure that we are focusing on the foundational principles and adding in the next level choice if and when it makes sense. Eating organic is beyond the basic principles, but is overall a better choice. The EWG's overall approach is in many ways more rigorous than the American regulatory agencies. The EWG tends to align with the European Union, Health Canada, and these other regions of the world where the criterion for approving a chemical or pesticide is firmer. In America, the thought process is that chemicals are assumed fine unless proven bad. In Europe, a chemical is not ok until proven safe.   Conventional Evaluation of Pesticide Safety The FDA's safety assessment for chemicals in foods have a variety of criteria. (13:11) They look at acute chronic and subchronic toxicity, carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, reproductive and developmental toxicity, neurotoxicity, and immunotoxicity. Pesticides also go through additional impact evaluation on the environment and ecology. The vast majority of the studies evaluating the effects of pesticides show problems to human health only with occupational exposure, rather than the much lower exposure the majority of us would have simply by eating produce from crops treated with these chemicals. However, there are some challenges with this. We can see high exposure in rodents causing all kinds of problems. The assumption is that acute exposure is not the same as low dose chronic exposure.   Where the Standards Differ One of the challenges that we have in evaluating pesticides is that our exposure is already so vast. There are no humans that don't already have multiple points of exposure to pesticides. There are studies that are linking the chronic low dose exposure to pesticide residues that have correlated pesticide exposure in the food supply with a number of health issues. In the United States, there are 72 pesticides that are routinely used that are completely banned or are in the process of being completely phased out in Europe. Of the pesticides used in USA agriculture in 2016, 322 million pounds were of pesticides banned in the EU. Twenty-six million pounds were of pesticides banned in Brazil and 40 million pounds were of pesticides banned in China. Pesticides banned in the EU account for more than a quarter of all agricultural pesticide use in the USA. It is important to understand that the European Union is looking at the same science as the EPA. And they are making a different judgment based on the strength of the data. We have a challenge that our metric is, 'is it toxic' and 'does it cause cancer'. WHO Guidelines for Safety of Chemicals in Food are much more thorough, and add to the above. They include general system toxicity, allergy and hypersensitivity, and GI Tract Considerations (includes microbiome).   Pesticides and the Microbiome (Sarah’s Biggest Concern) Microbial diversity is generally considered to be the most important measurable criteria for a healthy microbiome. (24:31) The more different species you have, they tend to keep each other in balance. The bacteria basically control the growth of each other. We are also looking for the growth of these really important probiotic strains. In addition, we are looking for completely absent levels of pathogens. We are also looking at the balance between the two main phylum of bacteria in the gut. It is important to understand that rodent studies are actually really good studies for understanding the gut microbiome. We would want to eventually be able to do a similar study in humans. But what Sarah wants to emphasize is that these rodent studies are a really good model for understanding what is happening in humans. Let’s go through some of the most commonly-used pesticides in agriculture for food crops. Permethrin is a broad-spectrum chemical often used as an insecticide for cotton, corn, alfalfa, and wheat crops—unfortunately, it’s also lethal to bees. It’s also used to treat lice, ticks, and scabies.  For more on this, visit this link here. PEM has higher antibacterial activity against some beneficial bacteria, (including Lactobacillus paracasei and Bifidobacterium). Than against pathogens (such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, which only respond to higher concentrations of PEM). Carbendazim (CBZ) is a broad-spectrum benzimidazole fungicide, widely used in agriculture. In mice, 28 days of exposure to CBZ resulted in gut dysbiosis. It suppresses the growth of some of the most important probiotic families while increasing the growth of some problematic families of bacteria. And it decreases bacterial diversity. To learn more about this pesticide, see here. Epoxiconazole (EPO) is a broad-spectrum fungicide often used on grain crops, and that works by inhibiting the metabolism of fungal cells. It reduces the production of conidia—the asexual spores of a fungus that facilitate reproduction. In rats, EPO for 90 days decreased the relative abundance of Firmicutes and increased the abundance of Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria, while also selectively enriching Lachnospiraceae and Enterobacteriaceae. To learn more about this pesticide, see here.   More Commonly Used Pesticides Imazalil (IMZ) is a systemic fungicide used to combat fungi on vegetables and fruit (especially citrus), as well as tubers during storage. (30:39) In mice, IMZ exposure (at doses of 100 mg per kg of body weight daily for up to 14 days) reduced the cecal relative abundance of Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Actinobacteria, while also reducing microbiota richness and diversity. The IMZ-treated mice also exhibited colonic inflammation. In another study of mice, low-dose, environmentally relevant exposure to IMZ (0.1, 0.5, or 2.5 mg per kg of body weight daily) for 15 weeks resulted in gut microbiota changes. These changes included reduced mucus secretion, decreased the expression of genes related to cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CTFR) in the ileum and colon, and generally disturbed intestinal barrier function. Stacy shared her perspective on how she looks at this information. Think through the way how these pesticides are more heavily used on grains. Chlorphyrifos (CPF) is an extremely common organophosphate pesticide used to kill insects and worms, by interfering with acetylcholine signaling and disrupting their nerve processes. It’s commonly used on fruit and vegetable crops, as well as vineyards. This is one that was going to be banned in the USA, but Scott Pruitt reversed the planned ban. You can learn more about this here. Sarah shared on this study, this study, this study, and this study. This information should stimulate a reevaluation of the use of these chemicals in the food supply. Diazinon is an organophosphate insecticide used on a variety of crops—including fruit trees, rice, sugarcane, nuts, potatoes, and corn. You can learn more about this pesticide here. It causes different changes in male rodents versus female rodents. The researchers speculated that these differences—with male mice experiencing the most severe changes—were due to sex-dependent gut microbiota profiles present before treatment. You can read more about this study here.   Two More Commonly Used Pesticides Propamocarb (PMEP) is a systemic fungicide used to control root, leaf, and soil diseases caused by oomycetes (water molds) by interfering with fatty acid and phospholipid biosynthesis and therefore changing the membrane in fungi. (41:41) It can accumulate in fruit at high levels, thus reaching humans.  You can find more information on this pesticide here. In mice, 28 days of exposure to PMEP (at levels of 300 mg/L in drinking water) induced gut dysbiosis and changes in 20 fecal metabolites, including SCFAs, succinate, bile acids, and TMA. You can read more about this study here. Glyphosate is a broad-spectrum herbicide that can kill both grasses and leafy weeds. It works by inhibiting an enzyme (5-enolpyruvylshikimic acid-3-phosphate synthase, or EPSP synthase), which is used by bacteria, archaea, fungi, algae, some protozoans and plants to synthesize folates (vitamin B9), ubiquinone, menaquinones (vitamin K2), phenolic compounds, and the aromatic amino acids tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine. The pathway this affects doesn’t exist in animals, which is part of why glyphosate has historically been considered to have low toxicity in animals.  Now that we understand that we have at least as many bacterial cells living within our body as we do human cells and that those bacteria are essential to our health, the relevance of glyphosate exposure comes into focus. Many bacterially-derived compounds that benefit human health are produced via the shikimate pathway. One rat study evaluated the impact on the microbiome of two weeks of glyphosate consumption, and showed a dose-dependent increase in fecal pH attributable to a reduction in acetic acid production, implying the metabolomic impact of glyphosate exposure.   More on Glyphosate It's not that glyphosate is necessarily directly impacting our cells, but it is dramatically impacting the gut microbiome at levels that we are already being exposed to in the food supply. (48:50) In studies in poultry, cattle, and pigs, glyphosate exposure increases the ratio of pathogenic bacteria to probiotic microbes, reducing Bifidobacteria, Lactobacillus, and Enterococcus while increasing Salmonella and Clostridium. In a long-term rat study, the impact on the gut microbiome was evaluated following nearly two years of glyphosate exposure via drinking water at three different doses. Glyphosate caused a large increase in the Bacteroidetes family S24-7 (associated with obesity and inflammation) and a decrease in Lactobacillus species in females (more modest changes in males). It also altered the Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes ratio to one more closely associated with chronic disease. The authors concluded “our data suggests that the exposure to an environmental concentration of [Roundup] residues could have a role in the current epidemic of gut dysbiosis”. This occurs even at levels well below the US ADI of 1.75 mg/kg body weight /day.  There is no strong dose-response. Sarah wants to emphasize that our glyphosate exposure in food is quite high. It is definitely above the cusp for an impact on our gut microbiome composition. The FDA has a report where they have been mandated to measure glyphosate residue in the food supply. In their 2016 report they measured measurable levels of glyphosate residues in 63% of corn food crops and in 67% of soybean food crops. However, they did not say how much residue was there. The 2018 report goes to a dead link now. A Swiss study of foods purchased at a grocery store showed that legumes had the highest concentrations of glyphosate residues, up to 2.95 mg/kg. United Kingdom government testing of glyphosate residues in wholegrain bread showed levels up to 0.9 mg/kg. A study of foods purchased in Philadelphia, USA metropolitan area showed 59 percent of honey samples contained glyphosate residues, and 36 percent of soy sauce contained glyphosate residues. Third-party testing of popular breakfast cereals, crackers, and cookies by the Detox Project and Food Democracy Now! showed alarming levels of glyphosate residues in all products. Roundup Ready GMOs have the highest level of glyphosate residues. Studies prove that our current levels of exposure are sufficient for measurable amounts of glyphosate to get into our bodies.  One study showed that 44% of city dwellers in 18 countries in Europe had detectable glyphosate residues in their urine, despite Europe’s more aggressive campaign against GMO foods. A pilot study in the United States of America evaluating 131 urine samples from across the country detected glyphosate residues in the urine of 86.7% of them. The highest observed detection frequency in the Midwest was at 93.3% and the lowest in the South at 69.2%.   How to Look at this Science The EWG is looking at this much more broad group of criteria and they are taking a very similar standpoint to the European Union. (58:09) A small effect is still an effect and we need to be concerned about it. When Sarah does a deep dive look to look at the impact on the gut microbiome this is where Sarah sees the biggest area of concern. Sarah thinks it is especially important because it is not currently part of the criteria by the FDA and the EPA for whether or not these chemicals are going to be approved for use. This is the thing that Sarah really thinks needs to change. The good news is that a healthy gut microbiome and high fiber consumption can actually protect us from absorbing a lot of these pesticides.  There have been studies that showed that lactobacilli can help reduce how much pesticide on our food gets into our bodies.  There are also studies that show that higher fiber consumption can at least partially reverse the gut dysbiosis. As we get back to the heart of this question, there are studies that show that the answer is no. High vegetable consumption is still really important because it does support a healthy gut microbiome, to begin with. And a healthy gut microbiome is going to protect us in a lot of ways. For example, they can protect us against heavy metals. Even if we can't afford organic to not let that dissuade us from eating that high vegetable consumption because of this. Sarah sees this as an exciting two-way street. Even though pesticide residues are impacting the composition of our guts, the composition of our gut is influenced by more than just that. It is influenced by how many fruits and vegetables we eat, mushrooms, nuts and seeds, variety, how much fish, how quality the olive oil is that we are consuming, etc. All of these things help to determine the composition of our gut microbiome. Doing all of these foundational things becomes more important when we are not necessarily in a position to be able to seek out and afford the highest food quality. It is still really important to eat a vegetable-rich diet. That's why Sarah wants to classify all of this science as the next level. The foundational principle is still eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, even if our only access to that is conventional. Beyond that, yes the Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen lists from the EWG are a wonderful tool. Not that Sarah agrees with everything the EWG has said, Sarah thinks that these are spot on in the sense of trying to minimize our exposure to pesticide residues.   How to Limit Pesticide Exposure Stacy feels that the podcast referenced and the information they are sharing aren't so far apart. (1:02:10) Sarah and Stacy discussed a point shared in the documentary Food Inc. that really hit this information home. We do the best that we can with what we can, and become educated on what other things we can do to support healthy living. Nothing is ever perfect. Prioritize the foods you purchase and do the best you can. It is not good to stress about these things. The dirty dozen list includes strawberries, spinach, kale, nectarines, apples, grapes, peaches, cherries, pears, tomatoes, celery and potatoes The clean fifteen list includes avocados, sweet corn, pineapple, onions, papaya, sweet peas (frozen), eggplants, asparagus, cauliflower, cantaloupes, broccoli, mushrooms, cabbage, honeydew melon, and kiwifruit. If you are going to get something off the dirty dozen conventional, look at ways that you can wash that food very well or ways you can peel the food to remove the majority of the pesticide residue. USDA certification is very expensive, so a lot of small family farms are growing organically, but don't have the certification. Talk to farmers and find out how they are growing their food. Stacy can't handle the sight of bugs in her fresh vegetables. Eating fruits and vegetables is a good thing. Perfection is not the goal. Neither Stacy nor Stacy eats 100% organic, they both do the best that they can. Sarah has found that the prices at her local farmer's market are best. Develop relationships with your local farmers, and shop at the end of the market. Stacy subscribes to Hungry Harvest, which has a waiting list right now. Sarah prescribes to MisFit Market, there is also one called Imperfect Produce. One of the things that Sarah loves about her subscription is the surprise element of it, which forces her to get creative with her meal planning. At Stacy's house they meal plan when their box arrives, based on what they received. Stacy shared more information on their meal planning process as a family, and how focused they have become to make sure they are not wasting food. Building relationships with your local farmers is a point that Stacy echoed from Sarah. Buying things in season or frozen can also be a helpful way to save money. Stacy's organic box is at least 30% off had they purchased those items at a grocery store regularly. The thing that Stacy most loves about Hungry Harvest is that they give back to the community.   Closing Thoughts Stacy thanked Sarah for all the research she did for this show! This week's Episode of the Between Meals Podcast was created in partnership with MegaFood®. I'm proud to work with brands who care about the health of their consumers and the planet. As always, all opinions are my own.    When it comes to climate change, to combat the catastrophic impact on the health of the earth and humans, it starts from the ground up.  Literally -- we are talking about SOIL! While farming and herbicides may not seem like a conversation that is relevant to most of you, I urge you to stick around. We need to be looking at how we are feeding our soil, so it can continue to feed us. Just like the human body has the microbiome of the gut, the soil has its own microbiome and without a healthy microbiome, the rest of the organism - the earth - it cannot thrive! In this episode of the Between Meals Podcast I am joined by Sara Newmark, VP of Social Impact at MegaFood. We are chatting about regenerative agriculture and the impact it has on climate change and the environment, our health and why you should care. Additionally, I have shared on the website in the past, about the impacts of glyphosate on the health of our body and the health of our soil and we touch on the efforts being made to ban the use of glyphosate, what you can look for and all the many ways you can get involved both in supporting regenerative agriculture and banning glyphosate.   In this Episode We Discuss: What regenerative agriculture is and why it matters. How is agriculture and farming related to climate change? How will regenerative agriculture improve soil health? What will happen if nothing is done to improve the health of our soil What are the impacts this can have on the environment and our health? The most common regenerative agriculture practices. How regenerative agriculture can help companies meet sustainability goals. Pending legislation supporting regenerative farming practices. What is the Healthy Farm Standard? What are some of the things MegaFood is doing to support regenerative agriculture? MegaFood's efforts to ban the use of glyphosate and how this initiative relates to regenerative agriculture  How can you get involved in the regenerative agriculture movement and in banning the use of glyphosate in your food and so much more!!!   More about MegaFood's Commitment to Social Impact Initiatives: MegaFood is B-Corp certified, which enables the company to make progress in solving the needs of a world in nutritional crisis. While MegaFood has always aligned with the social impact standards, with the formal B-Corp Certification in 2017, MegaFood has also implemented the following strategic social impact initiatives:   Revised corporate bylaws to include social, environmental and economic diligence, ensuring the company stays on course, regardless of short-term and/or financial factors.   Established its Healthy Farm Standard program, aimed at improving our agricultural system by building carbon-rich soil and increasing the nutrient density of food. This new open standard will help farmers track and improve outcomes and help reach shared goals to ultimately support the health of our soil and build thriving communities.   Began development of a global verification standard for food grown in a regenerative way in partnership with The Carbon Underground and Green America, that results in improved soil health, improved human health, and a reduction of the threat from climate change. This work builds upon the Regenerative Agriculture Initiative that has over 150 companies, organizations and scientists as signatories.    Became the first supplement brand to obtain glyphosate residue free (GRF) certification for its entire line of products. The certification was granted by The Detox Project, an independent research and certification organization, after MegaFood submitted its products to an independent, third-party laboratory for testing and was found to have met The Detox Project's stringent standards. More recently, the brand has partnered with Environmental Working Group (EWG) and several additional food and nutrition brands, including Ben & Jerry's and Stonyfield, to petition the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ban the use of glyphosate as a desiccant before harvest. With this petition MegaFood aims to raise awareness of the potentially unsafe levels of glyphosate residue found in our foods today.    Integrated social impact as a crucial role in company-wide performance evaluations.    Additional Resources:   http://tasty-yummies.com/what-is-glyphosate/   You can learn more about Megafood's social impact work and efforts to ban glyphosate: https://www.megafood.com/category/activism/glyphosate-free-what-about-food.html   Learn more about MegaFood's farm partners: https://www.megafood.com/meet-our-farmers/friends-of-megafood.html Learn more about the petition to ban Glyphosate:https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/megafood-seeks-ban-on-use-of-glyphosate-as-a-desiccant-through-epa-petition-300722355.html   To read and learn more about the Healthy Farm Standard:https://www.megafood.com/healthy-farm-standard.html

Recognizing the need to address different health issues, Microbe Formulas have produced natural supplements as a protocol for better health.  The co-founder, Dr. Jay Davidson is a returning guest who has extensively shared ways on how to detox parasites in a previous episode. Phase One In teaching us the entire protocol for better health, Dr. Jay Davidson initially explains that phase one is focused on drainage. It is also to prepare the body and minimize symptoms as you move forward.  “As we get more people to follow this protocol, we realize that there are some added things that we needed in here. Primarily the drainage support is what changes everything,” said Dr. Jay Davidson. “When we’re looking at drainage and how to repair the body, you want to look at what are all the drainage pathways.” Dr. Jay Davidson says that ideally, two or more bowel movements a day is needed to heal the body. Because when you start moving into supporting the immune system, going after pathogens, detoxing and pulling the chemicals out, it’s a lot easier for those pathways to get clogged up. As soon as those pathways get clogged up, that’s when symptoms happen. “Phase one we look at supporting the intestinal tract, liver bile duct, and kidneys. If the colon backs up, it backs everything up. If the liver bile duct is backed up, then it backs up what’s above that,” Dr. Jay Davidson explains. “What’s above that is the lymphatic system, and then we look at organs and tissues. And one of the important organs is the brain.” Listening To Symptoms I have always stressed in past episodes that it is vital to listen to our body. Symptoms are there to give clues on what is going in. Dr. Jay Davidson says that for example, headaches, brain fog, cognitive type issues, and insomnia can signify that something is amiss.  “We know there’s usually something backed up in the chain of drainage. Whether it’s the colon, liver bile duct, lymphatic system or all of the above for it to clog up,” Dr. Jay Davidson said.  He adds, “The liver bile duct is one of the most important that I see what holds people back from getting well clinically. And the more attention you give to the liver bile duct, the better off we’re going to be.”  BioActive Carbon Products Dr. Jay Davidson mentioned that a product in phase one is BioActive Carbon Foundation. It is there to support quite a bit of thing. The BioActive Carbon always get their attention for binding. But more importantly, the BioActive Carbons help to give carbon and hydrogen to the body and oxygen as well. “So, if you look at how the body is made, 96% is carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Under 4% is minerals,” said Dr. Jay Davidson. “The BioActive Carbon is giving the base bone of our body support. It is also doing other things like binding and detoxing the pathways.” Activated Charcoal If we go out and buy activated charcoal or an activated carbon charcoal type supplement, Dr. Jay Davidson says it could come from a lot of different sources. Incidentally, activated charcoal is a long chain carbon and there are different chains of carbon. “In the BioActive Carbon, we have small, medium and long. The long sit inside the GI tract. So, the liver processes toxins.  Phase one and phase two detox is how it processes chemicals. Phase 3 is drainage,” Dr. Jay Davidson explains.  He adds, “The healthy way is that these by-products then get dumped into the bile. Bile holds on to toxins and pathogens live in there as well. It causes stagnation and causes things to get thick and affects our GI.” BioActive Carbon Iodine When bile is recycled, Dr. Jay Davidson says it will bring along that by-product of the chemicals and toxins with it. Activated charcoal has been known to help bind on to the bile. It is a long chain carbon. When activated charcoal binds on to the bile, the body then eliminates it through the feces. “We utilize BioActive Carbons in many instances. And we modify the molecule based on what the needs are,” said Dr. Jay Davidson. “Bioactive Carbon Iodine is a new product of ours, designed to bind on to bad halogens like chlorine or bromine specifically. It grabs on to those halogens that typically displace iodine.” Dr. Jay Davidson also explains that if you take a lot of iodine, it can cause a thyroid storm. Because the iodine will turn the thyroid on. It’s needed to heal the thyroid. But if you have strong autoimmunity, you want to balance the minerals out. Understanding Mitochondria A lot of people do not know how mitochondria affect our overall health. Dr. Jay Davidson says mitochondria has been talked about a lot. But it’s rare to find stuff that works to open that up. “When you look at mitochondria, they produce ATP in the cells. And when the mitochondria are blown out, we don’t get the cellular energy,” Dr. Jay Davidson said.  He adds, “Until we get the cellular energy up above where the chronic infection and toxicity is, we’re not going to re-establish that. As soon as you stop detoxing, it’s going to start creeping back up. You have to re-establish cellular energy, so you don’t have to take stuff forever.” Biomolecular Oxygen According to Dr. Jay Davidson, biomolecular oxygen is stabilized oxygen. Dr. Jay Davidson has been using it whenever he does coffee enemas once a week. “I put a tablespoon of molasses in there to hold it in easier. Then I add the BioActive Carbon minerals and biomolecular oxygen. Ten drops of each. You can nebulize it if you have lung issues,” suggests Dr. Jay Davidson. Fulvic Acid Dr. Jay Davidson also claims that his team has been able to stabilize the oxygen inside the fulvic acid or extracts of the fulvic acid molecule. So, not only is it delivered in the body, but it also sustains. “Another thing you can look at is perfusion index percentage. It is a better marker to look at overall health. That’s the health of your arteries and the ability for the blood to penetrate the tissues and get absorbed,” Dr. Jay Davidson said.  He adds, “If a protocol will help those who are chronically ill, a protocol also takes your health to a whole new level even if you’re not in the chronic illness side.” Coffee Enema To those who want to try a coffee enema, Dr. Jay Davidson recommends getting organic, non-pesticide sprayed coffee beans. Light or air roasted coffee is best. “It’s not green coffee, but it’s not a medium or dark roast. We go for light or air-roasted because it has more things we want health-wise, especially that the liver will benefit from,” reveals Dr. Jay Davidson. “It increases detoxification, raises glutathione, increases bile production of the liver and increases purging of the bile.” Here are the steps on how to do a coffee enema: Put a tablespoon of ground coffee per cup of water. If you do a 4-cup solution, put four tablespoons of ground coffee in water. You can add essential oils or molasses — the reason why Dr. Jay Davidson adds the molasses in his coffee enema is actually to make it easier to hold it in. Boil coffee on the stove for 20 minutes and hold the enema for 15 minutes. “When you hold coffee in, it speeds up the blood flow. Blood usually goes through the liver every six minutes. When you do a coffee enema, that shrinks to 3 minutes,” Dr. Jay Davidson said. BioActive Carbon BioTox BioActive Carbon BioTox is for ammonia, mold, fungus, and candida.  Dr. Jay Davidson says it helps to regulate oxygenation up. It is also a perfect supportive formula for cellular energy. “You can take BioActive Carbon Biotox and BioActive Carbon Foundation before and after a coffee enema. The BioTox not only is in phase two but can also be in phase zero or the energy booster pack because it helps the mitochondria,” said Dr. Jay Davidson. Gallbladder Flush To restore health, Dr. Jay Davidson gave these simple protocol: Don’t eat fat for the day. Stop eating at 2 pm. Drink some Epson salt around 6 pm and 8 pm. It’s going to cause diarrhea, and it will clear the intestines and move stuff quick. Take some olive oil and fresh grapefruit. Mix and drink it. Lie down and fall asleep. Olive oil causes the bile and gallbladder to purge. Start drinking Epson salt in the morning as well to flush colon.  Eating Right Dr. Jay Davidson is no different from the other experts we had on the show as far as food is concerned. He says good diet is essential. Because it is the foundation. “You can’t out supplement a bad diet. Make sure you are eating clean and healthy,” said Dr. Jay Davidson. “Beyond that, you can look at the supplements and what you can do to help support the liver.  He adds, “We have a formula called Kidney Liver Detox. But a lot of supplement companies have kidney formulas and gallbladder bile duct type formulas as well. Apart from that, also eat food with bitters in them.” Phase Two Dr. Jay Davidson says phase two is necessary because the big toxicity epidemic has created an environment to attract the body to parasites. He believes that the idea wherein we are going to be sterile from parasites is not reality. Because we’re not eliminating every single critter in the body or parasite. “Parasites will absorb toxins and heavy metals. So, when you’re doing as a parasite-type cleanse, I recommend at least 90 days,” said Dr. Jay Davidson.  He adds, “People with chronic illness or health issues could be much longer. Bottom line, when it comes to cleansing, persistence, and consistency is the name of the game. Also, do a longer initial cleanse and then modify the maintenance.” Mimosa Pudica Seed Mimosa Pudica Seed is one of the products under the Microbe Formulas label. Dr. Jay Davidson says it is the formula one, followed by the BioActive Carbon BioTox. Dr. Jay Davidson also clarifies that BioTox could be in phase zero or energy booster pack. It is an organic ingredient and they have a special way to grind it down that is effective. It is also a great gut grabber and gut scrubber. “We know we can’t be all things to everybody. But the things we up out with, we want to be able to make changes in people’s lives and come out with the best stuff,” Dr. Jay Davidson said.   Bio Dr. Jay Davidson D.C., PSc.D. completed his undergraduate studies at University Wisconsin La Crosse Majoring in Biology with biomedical concentration and chemistry minor. Enjoy the show!  Video Version: https://youtu.be/7V0wjEk5nbQ Dr. Jay Davidson Website: https://drjaydavidson.com/ Coffee Enema Website: http://drjaydavidson.com/ultimate-coffee-enema INTRO QUESTIONS:  Your wife, Heather, was diagnosed with Lyme Disease at a young age, and like so many of us went from doctor to doctor with no real answers! Walk us through your journey and how you became interested in Autoimmune issues? I listened to your talk at the Candida Summit, and you mentioned that you felt like fasting played a big part in Heather’s healing, and helped with a lot of her inflammation right off the bat. Can you explain how this all works together? There are so many people like your wife, and like me who are so discouraged because no one can tell them what is wrong with them and what they can do to fix it! What do you say to these people? Tell us about Microbe Formulas, how did you develop this, and who do you recommend this program to? So many of our listeners struggle with thyroid and autoimmune issues which you talk about in your book “5 Steps to Restoring Health Protocol”…without giving TOO much away, what can you tell us about these steps? Your Autoimmune Revolution is coming up on November 5, what can our listeners expect from this event?   LISTENER QUESTIONS: Q1 - 28:42 Q:I moved into a new house about two months ago. Shortly after I moved in, I had a leak under the sink and a couple days later I noticed a bunch of mold. I cleaned the mold really well with bleach water, and aired it out, but I was really grossed out. I’ve noticed that since this happened (about a month ago), me and my husband have both been feeling a little off. I wouldn’t say that we are sick, but we are both tired all the time, slightly nauseous…just not fully ourselves. Do you think this could be related to the mold, or is this all in my head? How can I test to determine what’s going on and know for sure? -Ashley in Greensboro Q2 - 31:21 Q: I got really excited when I saw that Dr Davidson is coming on the podcast because I checked out his website and saw that he talks a lot about Lyme Disease. My son got a tick bite about two weeks ago, and I am wondering if there is anything that I can do to prevent Lyme Disease from developing. When and how can I start testing to see if he has Lyme Disease, and what signs should I be looking for? -Christie in Arizona  Q3 - 33:00 Q: I loved your podcast with Dr Eric Z about essential oils! I learned so much, and am all about the natural remedies. I struggle big time with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus. Some days I feel great, and some days I can’t get out of bed. For the past five years, I have been from Doctor to Doctor and tried every medication under the sun. I am getting concerned about the damage that these medications are doing to my organs long term. What are some things, such as the essential oils and natural supplements, herbs that you recommend that I do, to help manage my symptoms, and if I really wanted a miracle, to keep them from getting worse? I am willing to try anything at this point? -Patrice in Delaware Q4 - 37:04   Q: I have not been feeling well for the past couple of months. I went to the Doctor and had my bloodwork done and they said that everything looks normal. I consulted with Dr Google, and found that many of my symptoms line up with Adrenal Fatigue….I can wake up after sleeping 8 hours and feel exhausted! Besides that, I have gained about 10 lbs over the past couple of months, without changing my diet, my back is sore when I am not exerting myself, and I’ve noticed that if I sit still for longer than a couple minutes, my feet fall asleep and get tingly. Do you think this could be signs of adrenal fatigue, or just a coincidence? Can you talk more about Adrenal Fatigue, what causes it and how I can get back to feeling like myself? -Grace in Lynchburg Q5 - 40:37 Q: I have recently gone super hippy, as my husband calls me. I use all natural house hold cleaners, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, skin products, makeup, you name it! The only two things I haven’t been able to ditch are hairspray and perfume! My hippy friends give me a bunch of guilt about using both of these, but I can’t find natural alternatives to either that I really like. In your opinion, is this something I should be stressing, or is it not a big deal, since 99% of everything else that I use is so natural? -Carrie in Lexington Q6 - 42:49 Q: If you asked me five years ago what Autoimmune disease is, I would have no idea! I hadn’t even heard of the phrase. Now, I could tell you about at least five friends who are struggling with it in some way. What do you think is causing the epidemic to rise so fast? Or do you think people have always been struggling with it, but just didn’t know how to identify it or give it a name? -Alex in Northern Virginia --------------------------------------- To learn more about the principles of intermittent fasting, purchase Chantel's book, Waist Away: The Chantel Ray Way NOW by visiting http://amzn.to/2CVmTgs YouTube Channel Link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCteFjiVaY6n0SOAixcyZbWA Like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TheChantelRayWay     Things we love: https://chantelrayway.com/things-i-love-2/  Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheChantelRayWay   ***As always, this podcast is not designed to diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any condition and is for information purposes only. Soy: Perfect Food or Evil Imposter?

Live Right Now

Live Right Now - Episode 009 – Soy: Perfect Food or Evil Imposter? What’s square, white, jiggles, weighs about eight ounces, can make you gag, and often can clear a room in ten seconds? The answer is, tofu, or soy bean curd. This often-maligned product has been known to strike dread in the hearts of the bravest culinary souls, paralyzing them in fear at its mere mention. (Not wholly unlike the feeling you might get when receiving notification of an IRS audit.) Flash back to the flower children of the mid and late 1960s, when a rumor wafted through the grease-filled air that the Golden Arches folks used a sinister form of fibrous soybeans as filler in their burgers. “Ai-ee! Hack! P-tooey! We’ve been poisoned!” In retrospect, what we should have protested instead was the saturated-fat-laden bovine tallow used to deep-fry those golden, salt-covered French fries. (Just as an FYI, though, McDonalds and Taco Bell have indeed been using soy products as filler for decades. Nevertheless, don’t expect to see the International House of Bean Curd popping up soon.) So how many centuries have people been eating tofu? Tradition has it that tofu was invented by Liu An (179–122 B.C.), a prince of the Han Dynasty, supposedly while searching for a substance to help him achieve immortality. But way before then, in 2838 B.C., Chinese Emperor Cheng Nung developed soy cultivation. Soybeans did not, however, grace American soil until Samuel Bowen brought it to the continent and Henry Yonge planted the first soy crop on his farm in Thunderbolt, Georgia, in 1765. Did Henry know when he sowed the seeds of soy he would be saving us from the sorrow of serious sickness and senility? Somebody let a snake loose? New findings are out about tofu and soy products, however, and as I painfully sift through the mountains of information on the subject, I have to ask myself, “Is it actually—gasp!—bad for us?” After decades of aggressive research and marketing and touting the wiggly curd as a miracle cure-all for many of humanity’s maladies, I wonder, alas, is the honeymoon over?  Is mass tofu-phobia justified? Can tofu really make your brain shrivel and encourage dementia and breast cancer? What’s with that? For a substance that has been providing nourishment for humans for so many years, this Rodney Dangerfield of food is getting no respect. But what I’m placing in your to-go bag is whether we should be alarmed about these new studies regarding the safety of eating tofu, or is this junk science? Is it safe to continue making tofu a foundation of our diet? Ignorance may be bliss, but information is a powerful tool, so let’s look objectively at both sides of the issue, and, as my Mom would have said, “Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.” We need to encourage more funding for further studies and season our own judgment with a generous helping of knowledge. I'd like to emphasize that in every study I looked at showing beneficial effects, the study was either sponsored by the soy industry, or the authors had some kind of financial ties to the soy industry. Follow the money, as they say. When asked about the validity of tofu-phobia, the Indiana Soybean Board responded passionately with this reassurance: “Wendell, I think the important thing is that overreacting and taking things out of context is the biggest problem...Asians have been eating soy foods for centuries and undoubtedly there is no evidence that they have less cognitive function.” Yes, but they were not GMO! And, contrary to what you may have heard, Asians do not consume large amounts of soy. They use small amounts as a condiment (about two teaspoons daily), but not as a primary protein source. And the type of soy they consume is traditionally fermented soy. Soybean crops are also heavily sprayed with chemical herbicides, such as glyphosate (Round-up), which researchers have found to be carcinogenic. The herbicide has been the subject of controversy for years once it became known it causes serious health problems, including endocrine disruption, allergies, asthma, autism-spectrum disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, rhinitis, obesity, leukemia, lymphoma, and other forms of cancer. One of the primary reasons it would be wise for you to avoid soy is more than 90 percent of soybeans grown in the United States are genetically modified. Since the introduction of genetically engineered foods in 1996, we’ve had an upsurge in low birth weight babies, infertility, and other problems in the U.S., and animal studies have shown devastating effects from genetically engineered soy including allergies, sterility, birth defects, and offspring death rates up to five times higher than normal. Soybean crops are also heavily sprayed with chemical herbicides, such glyphosate which a French team of researchers have found to be carcinogenic. Glyphosate, the world’s most widely (vilified) used herbicide linked to Monsanto’s Roundup Ready genetically engineered crops, has been found at alarming levels in a wide range of best-selling foods across the U.S., Food Democracy Now! and The Detox Project announced Monday. The results published in this report are from the first independent glyphosate residue testing of popular American food products performed using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), the regulatory recognized “gold standard testing methods at an FDA registered laboratory. These newest findings also come as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) postponed hearing which were due to explore glyphosate’s link to cancer in humans. Last year, 17 leading global cancer experts from the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) sparked a firestorm when they classified glyphosate as a class 2A “probable human carcinogen. On the heels of the growing controversy surrounding glyphosate’s safety, this unique testing project  that started in 2015, has so far found alarming levels of glyphosate in General Mills’ Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran and Frosted Flakes and PepsiCo’s Doritos Cool Ranch, Ritz Crackers and Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita Chips, as well as many more  famous products at levels that present significant risks according to the latest independent peer-reviewed science on glyphosate. Detoxproject.org Soybeans — even organically grown soybeans — naturally contain “antinutrients” such as saponins, soyatoxin, phytates, trypsin inhibitors, goitrogens and phytoestrogens. Traditional fermentation destroys these antinutrients, which allows your body to enjoy soy’s nutritional benefits. However, most Westerners do not consume fermented soy, but rather unfermented soy, mostly in the form of soymilk, tofu, TVP, and soy infant formula. Mercola.com Fermented Soy Probiotics versus Unfermented Many types of fermented foods are very good for our gastrointestinal tracts, helping to keep points A through Z flowing and in good working order, which is imperative for optimum health. Soybeans are among those foods that are best whether fresh or fermented. Fermented non-GMO organic soy products such as tempeh and miso are much easier for our Earth Suits to digest than processed silken tofu products. Tempeh, a fermented soybean product that comes in cakes, is made from whole soybeans and has a nutty, smoky flavor and is similar to mushrooms in texture. At our home we us it to cook sloppy joes, barbecue, Cajun “steaks,” Caesar salad protein, spaghetti sauce, taco filling, and chili. The grandkids love it, and sneaky chef that I am, I don’t tell them how good it is for them! Four ounces of cooked tempeh contains 17 grams of protein, a mere 204 calories, 15 grams of carbohydrates, and 8 grams of (good) fat. Plus, it’s full of calcium, iron, zinc, and fiber. It’s so much better for you than the same size portion of steak, and doesn’t contain artery-clogging saturated fats, antibiotics, and growth hormones so commonly found in factory farmed beef. A plethora of reasons to make soy the center of our diets abounds. In 2001 in San Diego, California, at the Fourth International Symposium on the Role of Soy in Preventing and Treating Chronic Disease, a mutually agreed-upon conclusion was reached: Non-GMO, organic Soy may possibly have a positive effect on cognitive function. Two preliminary research studies presented at the symposium showed that soy actually improved several aspects of cognitive function, especially verbal memory. Hopefully, this good news will alleviate any concerns you’ve had about the soy-and-dementia issue. The Soy Board reminds people to keep things in perspective. The negative effects were found only in an epidemiological study; however, animal studies suggest just the opposite—soy has beneficial effects on cognitive function.” Hmm? This is somewhat contrary with what Dr. Lon Wright of the Pacific Health Research Institute presents. He has conducted a study of 3,734 middle-aged Japanese-American men that indicates that eating tofu more than twice a week may be linked to dementia. White’s theory is that the phytoestrogens in tofu interfere with the brain’s estrogen receptors and keep the brain from properly using estrogen. His article appeared in an edition of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition. But listen to this:  He says, “I would be violating a cardinal rule if I said my data says you shouldn’t eat tofu [or other soy foods].” Ah-hah! White emphasizes this data can’t be turned into sweeping conclusions, and the findings must be considered preliminary. And according to Beverly Creamer, staff writer for a Honolulu advertiser newspaper, “It’s the first time scientists have labeled a dietary risk factor for the disease that affects 2 percent of the nation’s sixty-five-year-olds and up to 16 percent of eighty-year-olds.” Finally, White’s study was based on processed tofu, which is not fermented, and which could be considered another endorsement for the fermented forms of the bean or edamame. Here’s more spice for the health stew: University of Minnesota scientist Mindy Kurzer, Ph.D., who does extensive research on the humble bean, assures us that there are no data connecting soy and cancer. “There is a theoretical risk that processed soy might promote breast cancer in some way,” Kurzer added, “but it’s purely theoretical at this point.” Forgo the ubiquitous protein bars made with protein isolate. Side effects of soy protein isolate: In animal studies, soy isolate has been linked to allergies, thyroid problems, and even brain damage. Soy has been labeled one of the top seven allergens for people to avoid, as soy isolate is found in a lot of processed foods, including bread and baked goods, soups and sauces, and breakfast cereals and protein bars. There have also been several studies on soy protein and age-related dementia, although many of those studies have been inconclusive. Wellnesstoday.com Perhaps the problem is our American lifestyle. Otherwise-healthy Asians who come to live in America ultimately succumb to the same health maladies as native-borns. Is it the pineal gland-trashing fluoridated water, the pesticides, food coloring, preservatives, fungicides on our produce, or our overly polluted environment? Or is it a disconnection from earth. Consider the negative findings. Until then, open your mind as well as your mouth to the healthy virtues of unprocessed, non-GMO, organic soy products, but don’t go overboard and follow the American mantra, “More is better.” Most of the time, less is more. In fact, Lyme disease and heavy metal toxicity are correlated to parasites. Much as we can’t completely get rid of parasites, my guest, Dr. Jay Davidson will teach us how to do a parasite cleanse and why it is essential to do so.    Sick Wife   Dr. Jay Davidson shares that it was his wife who was sick with Lyme disease at the age of 7. She was given medication since she had many other health issues until she was 18 years old.  They met in college when they both went to chiropractic school. Dr. Jay Davidson’s wife was still struggling with Lyme disease until their daughter was born while he had massive parasite issues. Medications didn’t do much, so they both sought out natural alternatives.    “Lyme disease has several strains. It is a bacteria and loves to drill into tissues and joints. Because it does not necessarily flow into the bloodstream, it is often undetected,” said Dr. Jay Davidson.   He adds,”Lyme disease has an interesting defense mechanism. Upon taking antibiotics, it can change forms. When it develops into a cyst, it becomes resistant to the antibiotic. It also has an autoimmune effect.”   Causes of Lyme Disease   Medical literature lists the cause of Lyme disease is commonly from infected black-legged ticks. The same ticks can also transmit diseases to animals.    According to Dr. Jay Davidson, because the ticks are so small, the bites are hardly noticeable. The insect’s saliva has an anesthetic-like substance. That is why one would initially not feel the bite.    Curing Lyme Disease   Symptoms of Lyme can be anything from flu, aches, and fatigue. Severe symptoms include chronic pain, nerve system problems, and even Bell’s palsy. Other symptoms include inflammation of the eyes and liver.   However, Lyme disease can be cured when it is detected early. Dr. Jay Davidson says the key to finding a solution for Lyme disease is understanding how it works and how it affects our body.    “You don’t have to manage it. It is just because you’re not peeling down the layers. We are given an immune system that is amazing. All we have to do is to identify all factors,” Dr. Jay Davidson said.   He adds, “Our immune system can get over Lyme. Often, it is triggered by emotional stress and mold exposure. Essentially, Lyme is a clinical diagnosis and not a lab test diagnosis.”   Parasites And Its Effects   Dr. Jay Davidson believes that parasites are such an epidemic. It is because there is not much effort to teach people about parasites. That is why he advises his patients to do a long parasite-type cleanse to empty out the stuff that’s in us. Then remember to do a cleanse once every six months for maintenance.    Dr. Jay Davidson further explains that bugs love trauma. And when there’s trauma, the immune system gets suppressed. Hence, there’s a chance that bugs can flourish.    Health conditions like pelvic pain, ovarian pain, bladder pain, pain during intercourse and labor pain are just some of the examples where bugs can be prevalent.  This is because the immune system diminishes in those areas of surgery. Apparently, bugs go there because it is an easier environment to take over.    “Anything you are doing to kill parasites, you’re going to do two things—kill the parasites and release heavy metals,” said Dr. Jay Davidson. “So it is also important to have some binders. It is so simple to do but effective.”   Heavy Metals Toxicity   According to Dr. Jay Davidson, heavy metals toxicity is the direct impact of the parasite. Symptoms include anything from headaches to fatigue. We can get infected through our environment, food and even the water that we drink.   The most common heavy metals are lead, mercury, aluminum, arsenic, and cadmium. One way of reducing the risk of having heavy metals toxicity is by changing our dietary habits.    “If you have heavy metals toxicity, your body is more likely to keep those parasites around. Parasites absorb heavy metals. Mold spores can live inside parasites. If parasites are around, we would never be able to detox heavy metals,” explains Dr. Jay Davidson.    BioActive Carbon Supplements   The body is pretty much water and carbon. That comprises approximately 96% of molecules in the body. Dr. Jay Davidson adds that when you have carbons to donate, those are building blocks for the cells.    So to help get rid of toxins in the body, Dr. Jay Davidson offers two kinds of supplements—BioActive Carbon 1 and BioActive Carbon Plus.  Both are available on his website.    BioActive Carbon 1 is a supplement for heavy metals and environmental toxins. It is not from activated charcoal and instead, comes from multiple sources of humic acid and fulvic acid.    BioActive Carbon Plus, on the other hand, is a systemic biotin binder. This means it can support binding biotoxins like mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are usually associated with ammonia from bacteria, mold, parasites, fungi, yeasts, and viruses.   “It binds toxins very well. So if there is an excess of toxicity in the body, it could potentially cause irritation, and you can feel agitated or anxious,” Dr. Jay Davidson said. “Vast symptoms can occur when you start detox too fast. Start with half a capsule twice a day for one week or two. But usually, one capsule twice a day is the recommended dosage.”    Formula 1  This supplement is a support for anti-parasite. It contains a combination of three herbs that contain organic neem, organic vidanga, and organic clove.    Dr. Jay Davidson suggests that it is advisable to do periodic cleansing every six months.  He assures that his supplements are safe because they do not use fillers or additives. It is also GMO-free, gluten-free.   “Periodic cleansing keeps the numbers down. The goal isn’t to kill every single bacteria, parasite, and virus in our body because our body is vastly made up of these things,” said Dr. Jay Davidson.   Bio Dr. Jay Davidson D.C., PSc.D. completed his undergraduate studies at University Wisconsin La Crosse Majoring in Biology with biomedical concentration and chemistry minor.
