We (Quinn) has been avoiding this question for quite a while. I even wrote a few thousand words about it a couple months ago and didn't publish it because it was a bit of a downer. But that's kind of malpractice in a way because we promised we don't shy away from the hard stuff even if the goal is to help you understand what you can do about it. Just like there's never really an optimal time in your life to get married, or have a baby, or get arrested, there's never a good time to talk about bird flu, which means it's always the right time to talk about bird flu, and especially when you've got the best of the best on the line.What can I do about bird flu? That's today's big question and my returning guest is the wonderful Dr. Nahid Bhadelia. Dr. Bhadelia is the founding director of the BU Center on Emerging Infectious Diseases. She's a board certified infectious diseases physician and an associate professor at the BU School of Medicine.She served as the Senior Policy Advisor for Global COVID 19 Response for the White House COVID 19 Response Team in 2022 and 2023, where she coordinated the interagency programs for global COVID 19 vaccine donations from the United States. Nahid was also the policy lead for Project NextGen, a 5 billion dollar health and human services program aimed at developing next generation vaccines and treatments for pandemic prone coronaviruses. Send us a textDr. Nahid Bhadelia, MD, MALD is a board-certified infectious diseases physician who is the Founding Director of BU Center on Emerging Infectious Diseases ( https://www.bu.edu/ceid/about-the-center/team/nahid-bhadelia-md-mald/ ) as well an Associate Professor at the BU School of Medicine. She served the Senior Policy Advisor for Global COVID-19 Response for the White House COVID-19 Response Team in 2022-2023, where she coordinated the interagency programs for global COVID-19 vaccine donations from the United States and was the policy lead for Project NextGen, $5B HHS program aimed at developing next generation vaccines and treatments for pandemic prone coronaviruses. She also served as the interim Testing Coordinator for the White House MPOX Response Team. She is the Director and co-founder of Biothreats Emergence, Analysis and Communications Network (BEACON), an open source outbreak surveillance program. Between 2011-2021, Dr. Bhadelia helped develop and then served as the medical director of the Special Pathogens Unit (SPU) at Boston Medical Center, a medical unit designed to care for patients with highly communicable diseases, and a state designated Ebola Treatment Center. She was previously an associate director for BU's maximum containment research program, the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories. She has provided direct patient care and been part of outbreak response and medical countermeasures research during multiple Ebola virus disease outbreaks in West and East Africa between 2014-2019. She was the clinical lead for a DoD-funded viral hemorrhagic fever clinical research unit in Uganda, entitled Joint Mobile Emerging Disease Intervention Clinical Capability (JMEDICC) program between 2017 and 2022. Currently, she is a co-director of Fogarty funded, BU-University of Liberia Emerging and Epidemic Viruses Research training program. She was a member of the World Health Organization(WHO)'s Technical Advisory Group on Universal Health and Preparedness Review (UHPR).  She currently serves as a member of the National Academies Forum on Microbial Threats and previously served as the chair of the National Academies Workshop Committee for Potential Research Priorities to Inform Readiness and Response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A (H5N1) and member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Current State of Research, Development, and Stockpiling of Smallpox Medical Countermeasures.Dr. Bhadelia's research focuses on operational global health security and pandemic preparedness, including medical countermeasure evaluation and clinical care for emerging infections, diagnostics evaluation and positioning, infection control policy development, and healthcare worker training. After three years, and the death of millions of people, the World Health Organiziation's Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced an end to the emergency. He made clear that the pandemic is not over and measures to prevent COVID-19 spread need to remain in place. And, a government app encourages Iraqis to report immoral behavior on- and offline. Also, in Serbia, two separate shooting sprees in two days have left 17 people dead in the Balkan country where gun violence is rare. Now, Serbia's president wants "practical disarmament" of the country, which has some of the most guns per citizen of any country in the world. Live from the Heart of America—I'm Steve Gruber—ready to deliver an inclusive and diverse discussion on the most important topics of the day—giving you better analysis and insight that anyone else—shining a spotlight on the cockroaches of the swamp—and delivering truth and justice just when hope was starting to fade—   Here are the 3 Big Things you need to know to start today—   Number One— Retirees lost almost a quarter of their 401 k's in 2022—BUT Joe Biden keeps bragging about the great economy—seems new polling doesn't find Americans very happy!   Number Two— It seems the Green New Deal Warrior Sweet Pete Buttigieg—Little Mayor Pete—really prefers to spend a lot of time—and your money flying on private US jets—instead of coach—   Number Three— The Department of Energy has sparked quite a storm by concluding the entire global Covid-19 pandemic originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology—   Of course I have been telling you that since February and March of 2020—and I played you some of those clips yesterday—   But while I was among the small minority—that was quite clear on the obvious—those on the left really didn't think the lab leak was much of an idea at all—and in fact they went to work—smearing, insulting and tearing down anyone that suggested the Wuhan Virus came from Wuhan—if you have forgotten—I found a whole reel of reminders—   And while we are remembering how it was, its also a good time to remind you that Joe Biden said he would get to the bottom of it—and he would take care of any guilty party—no matter who it turned out to be—    As it turns out however—old Joe didn't do much of anything and still has not demanded answers from President Xi in China—and has not demanded that US scientists have access to the information we need to finally put this whole origin question to rest—   Make no mistake I put this whole origin question to rest 3 years ago—and I told you the Covid-19 virus was in America sometime prior to Thanksgiving 2019—I still believe that is accurate—and its just a matter of time before that is confirmed as well—   Now I cannot say that the leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology was intentional—it would seem to me that it would be more powerful if it was intentional—BUT then again, maybe triggering fear, panic, lockdowns and the destruction of the economies of several countries would have been the goal—and goal that in large part was achieved—and that America and the rest of the world are still dealing with—   So again— I will let that one sit—until I have some definitive proof that it was or wasn't intentional—   I will repeat what I think is the most likely scenario and this is something I have been saying for 3 years as well—   It is most likely in my mind that someone was contaminated when they left the lab—and headed to the infamous Wuhan wet-market to eat live toads, and BBQ Pangolin—which is an endangered anteater—that should be left alone in the first place—but hey it might be good on the barbie—anyway if a contaminated person mingled at the wet-market, that could easily have been ground zero—or any of a hundred more locations for food and drink on the streets—   But despite the FBI concluding in 2021 that the pandemic came from a lab leak in Wuhan—and now the Department of Energy arriving at the same conclusion—those inside the swamp just won't give it up—   They simply will not admit—that we have had this nailed for 3 years and they have been lying, protecting the Chinese Communist Party and cashing in on billions of dollars for the now admittedly failed mRNA injections—and like I reported yesterday—in the UK in 2022, 92% of the Covid fatalities had two jabs or more of the so-called vaccine—I would call that a failed effort and a failed drug—   But I digress—lets get back to some major league gas-lighting coming out of the swamp—

And how can reaching people with Covid-19 vaccines help provide them with access to a broader suite of health and social services, as well? Ted Chaiban is the Global Lead Coordinator for COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery at UNICEF's COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery Partnership. Most recently he served as the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at UNICEF.

My last international trip before Covid lock down was early March 2020. That was in Mexico City.  Now 2 years later, I've taken my first international trip to Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Monaco, and Italy.  It was a bit weird, but exciting at the same time to finally see European customers, partners and colleagues in person.  Some of them, it was the first time we see each other in person.
