Dan's first of two tales covers the lore and supposed paranormal encounters associated with Dublin, Ireland's St. Michan's Church and the dead bodies that reside in the crypts beneath it. Then, we'll venture over Lake Pleasant, New York, and learn about some rumored murders associated with one of the town's founding fathers and the hauntings associated with those deaths. Lynze offers us three different tales this week. Her first is sad and sweet, a tale of a life taken to soon but possibly still here. Then, how strange would it be if strangers outside of your apartment could see a ghost in your home but you couldn't? Lastly, does watching horror flicks at home make you, your family and your personal space more susceptible to spirits moving in with you? What a crazy idea! In the quiet elegance of 1880s Cheltenham, a spectral presence stirred unease in a grand old family mansion in the centre of town. The ghost—described as a tall, veiled woman in black—appeared repeatedly to the daughters of the Despard family, moving silently through the house and vanishing without trace. Witnessed by multiple family members over several years, the haunting became one of Britain's most documented supernatural cases, thanks to the efforts of the newly founded Society for Psychical Research, who jumped at the chance to study a haunted house, first hand. Send us a textVideo Version HEREWhen Keith Linder moved into a quiet Washington home, he never expected to become the centre of one of the most bizarre — and controversial — haunting cases in modern history. Known as the Bothell Hell House, this story includes walls marked with strange symbols, objects thrown by unseen hands, chilling whispers, and one man seemingly singled out for torment. Ghost Adventures investigated — which led many to dismiss the case as false. However, a number of noted paranormal researchers studied the home and argued they got it wrong. In this episode of Into the Fog, I revisit the Bothell haunting and uncover new angles that deserve serious attention — from compelling evidence caught on Xbox Kinect, and physical phenomena that left investigators baffled. Was this man are faker, or truly haunted and simply not believed?I present the evidence and leave it to you to decide. Do share your thoughts on this case in the comments. Believers and sceptics are all welcome to participate (just please be respectful of each other). Special thanks to Keith Liinder for the resources and writings that enabled me to create this episode in such detail. For more on Peter Laws check out:www.patreon.com/peterlawsor www.peterlaws.co.uk
We start this week in Brownwood, Texas where a murder tragic murder may have added additional paranormal energy to a property already rumored to be haunted. Then, is a spirit sending emails from the great beyond? A short and very strange confirmation-type tale that really makes you wonder what's possible. Lastly, we head to Los Angeles to explore the reportedly haunted Sowden House, where some think Elizabeth Short, aka the Black Dahlia, may have been murdered. And that her killer may haunt this location. Then we go to Lynze's side of the show for another three tales. First, we examine the power of the hat man. Can he change us and our destiny? Next up, a creepy haunted house vibe with a construction worker being not-so-alone during his work day. And lastly, the tale of a possible new creature to fear! Step into the shadows as we return to Lincoln Mill Haunted House for their bold and unforgettable Star Wars-inspired event: Darkness Rises. This isn't your typical haunted attraction — Darkness Rises takes the gritty, story-driven horror Lincoln Mill is known for and fuses it with a dark sci-fi edge, paying homage to one of the most iconic franchises in pop culture. The result? A fresh, cinematic experience that drops you into a world where fear and the Force collide. In this video, we break down our full experience inside the attraction. From the powerful use of lighting and sound to the eerie character performances and set pieces that nod to the darker side of the Star Wars universe, Lincoln Mill once again proves their commitment to immersive, high-quality haunt entertainment. We'll talk about how the theme was integrated without feeling gimmicky, what makes this event stand out from traditional haunted houses, and why Darkness Rises could become a fan favorite for both horror enthusiasts and sci-fi lovers. If you're into unique haunts, cinematic storytelling, or just want to see how a Halloween attraction pulls off a well-executed themed experience, this review is for you.

In a trying time where PBS could be defunded and Nelvana go under, we felt it was necessary to tackle a big hitter that served as a cornerstone for the domination of educational television in the 90s. Welcome to another episode of Exploring Humanity Through Sci-Fi. Today, we're taking you back to season one of Surreal Estate, the hit SyFy series that puts a supernatural spin on haunted house real estate. Host Tony Tellado sits down with special guest Tennille Read, who played Megan Donovan, a pragmatic and skeptical med student who inherits a mysteriously haunted house with a life of its own. Tennille dives into what it was like bringing Megan to life—a character torn between logic and the paranormal—as she navigates spooky occurrences, a tangled love life, and a not-so-average real estate agent, Luke Roman. Tennille shares behind-the-scenes stories about the striking set, working opposite Tim Rozon, and how the show skillfully blends horror, humor, and genuine heart. We also get an insider peek at on-set special effects, the challenges of filming during the height of COVID-19 in the hauntingly beautiful St. John's, Newfoundland, and teases about Megan's journey as she confronts both haunted hallways and her own personal crossroads. With a rich background in the restaurant industry, including leadership roles at Baja Fresh, Wagamama, Nando's, and Buddy's Pizza, Burton brings a business-savvy approach to the world of escape rooms. His career has been centered around high-growth, brand-led companies, which made Escapology—a fast-growing escape room franchise with a strong emphasis on brand identity—a natural next step. In this interview, Burton talks about brand-led businesses, disconnect to reconnect, and the future of escape rooms. Brand-Led Businesses “I always want to work someplace where when I get on the airplane, I don't put a piece of paper in my pocket to cover up the logo.” Burton explains that brand-led businesses have a distinct identity that resonates emotionally with consumers, unlike commodity-driven models. He points out that a brand like Disney evokes excitement and emotional connection, while a commodity might be viewed as interchangeable or forgettable. From a leadership standpoint, he emphasizes that it's easier to rally a team around a brand that stands for something. Employees feel a sense of pride when the brand on their shirt is something others recognize and admire. That internal passion, he says, is contagious and helps permeate enthusiasm throughout the organization. Transitioning from restaurants to attractions, Burton notes that although the escape room industry is relatively new, the foundational leadership principles remain the same. “Leadership is leadership,” he says, emphasizing that strong team culture and strategic planning are transferable across industries when they're rooted in purpose and clarity. Disconnect to Reconnect “What escape rooms offer you is the opportunity to disconnect from your device and reconnect with your friends and family.” Burton describes a key differentiator of escape rooms: the opportunity to truly unplug and engage in a meaningful, shared activity. At a time when screens dominate daily life, Escapology encourages people to step into immersive environments that demand teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. This idea of “disconnect to reconnect” isn't just a catchy phrase—it's central to the guest experience. He also addresses common misconceptions that may prevent people from trying an escape room, such as fears of being physically locked in. Escapology aims to overcome that barrier with inviting locations in mainstream retail environments and licensed IP like Scooby-Doo and Batman. These approachable themes lower the intimidation factor and encourage first-timers to take the leap. Once they do, he says, most guests are hooked by the joy and adrenaline of the experience. The Future of Escape Rooms “We want to continue to make things feel seamless, that they just happen… Technology is a great way to do that.” Looking ahead, Burton sees the future of escape rooms becoming increasingly immersive and emotionally resonant. He notes a shift from puzzle-centric gameplay to experiences that prioritize atmosphere and storytelling. Recent games like Haunted House and Pirate's Curse focus heavily on set design and narrative, offering guests more than just a mental challenge—they're stepping into a different world. Innovation will also come in the form of technology integration, but with intentionality. Escapology uses tech to support the story rather than distract from it, aiming for those moments of awe and surprise—like a magic trick that leaves guests wondering how it all worked. As the industry grows, Burton predicts greater consolidation and sophistication, with larger players like Escapology leading the charge by investing in high-quality game development and expanding their franchise model worldwide. It was wonderful to welcome back poet, teacher, writer, & scholar Elizabeth Cantwell this week to explore haunted houses both in film & real life, plus the existential, psychosexual, guilt-filled, Freudian, & supernatural realms of THE HAUNTING (1963), THE CHANGELING (1980), POLTERGEIST (1982), STIR OF ECHOES (1999), & more. I always learn so much when I talk to Elizabeth & we laughed far more than one would think going in given the topic, so this episode instantly became one of my favorites. “MYSTERY, MISMANAGEMENT, and MAYHEM on the SS MORRO CASTLE” #WeirdDarknessRadio WEEK OF MAR 16, 2025==========HOUR ONE: Jeannie Saffin already had a tough life, being born with a birth defect that stunted her mental growth, leaving her with the mind of a child, never getting married and having kids, never dating… but that all pales in comparison to how she died: bursting into flames for no apparent reason. Was Jeannie Saffin the victim of spontaneous human combustion? (The Spontaneous Combustion of Jeannie Saffin) *** Sometimes it's easy to get a girl to go out with you – just be polite and ask. Some men resort to cheesy pickup lines thinking it will help their chances. But one man chose to call upon a woman in a very unusual way… by purchasing a gravestone. (Pitching Woo With a Tombstone) *** If a man demands his girlfriend give up the baby they conceived, otherwise he would no longer be with the woman – what is that newborn's mother to do? Sadly, Emily Dunn made the wrong decision – with tragic results. (The Durbin Baby Murder) *** The transplanting of an organ is almost a routine procedure now in the 21st century – even doing a transplant of an arm or a leg isn't uncommon. But when you talk about transplanting a living head onto a dead body – that's when things get tricky. But Robert White thought it could be done – and even tried doing it. (The Man Who Wanted To Do a Head Transplant) *** Imagine getting onto a plane and once in the air finding out that the pilot wasn't qualified to fly that kind of plane – and that he was only there because the original pilot wasn't available due to being dead. That's what happened in 1934 on the boat, the SS Morro Castle. And it was the beginning of tragedy after tragedy. (Mystery, Mismanagement, and Mayhem on the SS Morro Castle)==========HOUR TWO: In June of 2009 a man calling himself Peter Bergmann checked in to a hotel in Sligo Town. Five days later his body was found on Rosses Point Beach. But Peter Bergmann was not Peter Bergmann – so who was he? (The Peter Bergmann Mystery) *** Sharing stories from people who are frightened by a bump in the night or a strange shadow on the wall in their bedroom is one thing, but when you get professional ghost hunters telling of the scariest experiences they've had, you know it has to be some freaky stuff. (Scariest Experiences of Ghost Hunters) ==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: More of the scariest experiences of ghost hunters! *** I'll tell you about that time when a dam failed – and because of it, people were legally allowed to marry the dead. And still do to this day. (That Time A Failed Dam Led to Marrying Corpses) *** Personal experiences of those who have stayed at the Wolf Creek Inn, plus some hard evidence, seems to indicate that spirits who haunt the place are not only benign in nature, but even protect the guests and owners from other malevolent spirits which roam there as well.
