I've got the OSCAR fever, hope you got it too! On a returning ERIC ROBERTS is the MAN we're joined by guest - and ON CINEMA, AT THE CINEMA expert Zach Weiss - to discuss Eric Roberts' recent appearance on the 12th Annual Oscar Special. We go deep on the history of the bizarre franchise created by Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington, as well as its various spin-offs, and try to explain just why the heck people would spend hours of their time watching this stuff (a questions we're VERY familiar with on ERITFM!). Just in case that doesn't whet your whistle we also have a look at an episode of the action espionage TV show BURN NOTICE directed by Renny Harlin and featuring an ALL-STAR cast including Dean Cain, Kristanna Loken, and - of course- ERIC ROBERTS! All this and the latest Eric Roberts news IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT! The post Episode 269 – Eric Roberts is the Man – 12th Annual On Cinema Oscar Special (2025) (/w Zach Weiss) first appeared on Cinema Smorgasbord.

Seufz.

Actor, writer and producer Paul Sidhu is rapidly becoming a major force in independent cinema, having recently top-lined seven different films. He currently stars opposite Kristanna Loken, Gary Daniels and Corbin Bernsen in director R. Ellis Frazier's action thriller, Repeater from Saban Films, in which his hitman character is hired to track down a hacker/whistleblower. The film opens in theaters on December 9 and on VOD, December 13. Sidhu also stars in Uppercut, director Robert Beaumont's upcoming romantic drama about an awkward attorney whose life trajectory is changed by his female boxer client. He also takes the lead in Deep Stage, an action drama about a former professional drag racer and part time drug dealer who is recruited by the DEA to take down a dangerous kingpin. Sidhu stars in, produces and co-wrote another action drama – Escape from Black Water – about an attorney who travels to the other side of the world to find what happened to his missing fiancée, but winds up in a prison convicted of her murder. A native of New Delhi, India who grew up in the Pacific Northwest, Paul was more interested in clinical psychology than drama in high school. Following that path, he attended the University of Washington, where he determined that medicine was his career goal. He later received a Masters Degree in Public Health from Tulane University, where he also graduated from medical school and switched his discipline from psychology to dermatology. As a doctor, he served his residency at the University of Southern California, and soon opened his dermatology practice, which was very successful. It was in Los Angeles, while befriending many people in the local arts community – actors, writers, directors – that Paul achieved what he terms a personal renaissance, which revived a nascent fascination with films and filmmaking. His first film foray as a lead actor, writer and producer was Aakhari Decision, in which he portrays a reluctant assassin who is dragged back into his dangerous profession when he falls in love. Not only did the film get a major theatrical release in India, but it made a cool profit for its investors. Turning to science fiction, he starred in and wrote 2307: Winter's Dream, a futuristic sci-fi action film, set in the 24th Century, in which he portrayed a retired special forces humanoid hunter who is pulled out of retirement to hunt down the leader of a humanoid rebellion.

It's time to be back once again and bring you another recap from the Terminator franchise as we take a closer look at the 2003 film Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. Does this movie deserve the hate that it gets? Is it fair for it to now be on an 'alternate timeline' with the release of Dark Fate this year? How different would this have been if Linda Hamilton returned instead of turning it down? Is there too much comedy in this movie or is it unfair to criticise it? How great is Kristanna Loken? How great is Nick Stahl? Was this movie ahead of it's time by casting a female as the lead villain? How great is the scene with the stripper at the bar? Is this movie comparable to Empire Strikes Back? Does the car chase sequence compare to the one in Judgement Day? Is the SHUT UP guy the greatest character in the entire franchise? Does Arnold Schwarzenegger deserve more credit for his performance in this film? Is the storyline around Skynet becoming self aware great to actually see happening? What is the point of adding in a plot of Arnie killing John in the future? And is the ending of this movie one of the greatest endings in the history of movies? There's a lot to get to so tune in and RELAX and make sure you SHUT UP as you get entertained all at the same time!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Our Summer Blockbuster Extravaganza (#SBE2015) rolls on as we take a look at a pretty silly sequel, 2003's Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines! How lame is it to have Sarah Connor die from leukemia instead of going out in a blaze of glory like she deserves to? What's with all the lame comedy - including "Talk to the hand!" - peppered throughout this film? And how did we not figure out a way to get Robert Patrick in this movie? PLUS: Give it a rest with that boob joke! Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Claire Danes, Nick Stahl and Kristanna Loken; directed by Jonathan Mostow.

Cynthia Rothrock builds a team of elite tough gals made up of Zoe Bell, Kristanna Loken, Vivica A. Fox, and Nicole Bilderback to take down a broad-shouldered Brigitte Nielsen who is hell bent on being the CEO of a bad-guy factory. With the power of plot convenience and inept villains, the team invade "The Citadel" to spring the kidnapped First Daughter and maybe some sex slaves. So as a whole, it's a unexpectedly decent action movie. It's silly and hooky here and there but executes its goals well especially with Christopher Olen Ray's directing. He honors his father well and we hope to see more from him in the future. Individual Ratings: Over the top action:Cheesy effects:Horrendous acting:Laugh-out-loud-ability:Ridiculous stunts:Gratuitous nudity:Memorable one-liners: Overall Ratings: Good Movie Quality: Bad Movie Quality:
