I have got a lot of work to do. I have got a lot of work to do./aiv GAH duh LAH duv WURK tuh DOO/ ①of (機能語で /uv/ )It's one of the best./its WAH nuv the BEST/ ②have (機能語で /uv/ )You have been through a lot./yu(v) bin THROO uh LAH(t)/ ③at (機能語で /ut/ )He's good at playing tennis./hiz GOO du(t) PLE in TE nis/ ④to (機能語で /tuh/ )I need to do that./uh NEE duh DOO thut/(T-flapping) ⑤as (機能語で /us/ )As soon as possible/uz SOO nuz PAH si bol/ ⑥and (機能語で /un(d)/ )You and I are friends./YOO uh NAI er FRENz/ ⑦can (機能後は /kun/ )I can do that/ai kun DOO thu(t)/ ⑧should (機能語で /shu(d)/ )I should keep that./ai shuh KEEP thu(t)/ 今日の練習を通して、機能語はボトムエリアで短くぼそっと曖昧に発音されるために、ほとんどの場合においてuh という音に変わってしまうということがおわかりいただけたのではないかと思います。仕組みを理解して音に慣れていただくことで、リスニング力もUPに繋がるので、是非意識して練習してみてください。 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/drdenglish/message

She adopted the name Cat Power for her first band in 1992, and has since used the name as a moniker for all of her musical endeavors. Raised in the South primarily by her grandmother, Marshall showed interest in music at an early age, and was influenced by blues and rock'n'roll. In the early nineties, Marshall relocated to New York City, and became acquainted with Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth after opening at a show for Liz Phair. Shelley subsequently drummed on her first two albums, Dear Sir (1995) and Myra Lee (1996), both somber indie rock records featuring sparse instrumentation. After releasing several blues and folk rock-influenced albums throughout the late 1990s, Marshall released The Covers Record in 2000, which included a cover of "Sea of Love" that was featured prominently in the film Juno (2007). She released three more albums, You Are Free (2003), featuring collaborations with Dave Grohl and Eddie Vedder; The Greatest (2006); and Jukebox (2008). Marshall has had several endeavors in modeling, and has been cited as a muse of Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld. She made her acting debut in the film My Blueberry Nights (2007) in a minor supporting role alongside Jude Law. Her most recent record, Sun (2012) was released to critical acclaim, and entered the Billboard 200 at number 10, making it her first top-ten album in the United States. LINQUA FRANQA BIO: Linqua Franqa is a cultural worker and emcee from Athens, Georgia. Their sophomore album, Bellringer, is also their PhD dissertation in Language and Literacy Education at the University of Georgia.

One of the hardest things for driven people to do, is to learn when to adapt and persevere and when to move on. Today's guest shares a few stories about how he learned those lessons. As a young kid, he found an early passion for Soccer. It wasn't tallent alone though, he put in the work; hours on the field in practice. Through the sport, he learned a lot about himself; he liked to see and understand the big picture. The perfect spot to get that view was Goalie! That dedication and commitment eventually turned into Olympic prep, which further led to an invite to the Ivy League to play at Brown! On Senior day, his parents drove 14 hours to see their son play; only to see him on the bench, in favor of a younger, taller, Freshman Goalie. He was gutted. Contemplating leaving the team, he reached out to an athlete friend for guidance; the advice was simple, talk to the coach, see what he could do, needed to do, to be on and in the team. Received well, he followed that guidance, did his part, and was eventually rewarded with opportunity when the team needed him. A number of years into professional life, working in the natural products industry, he was given a huge promotion from managing 1 line of business to 15. The workload was crushing. Days stretched into weeks, and into months. He came home every night drained. It was literally killing him. With a Mortgage, Wife, and two daughters, a driven person doesn't just quit, but, as he noted, "If you can't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anyone else". For him and his family, he needed to find the right vein for him. With a background in startups, investing and mentoring, a slight pivot from Natural Supplements to the nascent Cannabis Industry was his next eon. With the synergies and success that followed, it proved to be the correct choice with the huge impact his company has had on the Cannabis Industry. Please enjoy the Founders Journey of Patrick Rea, Co-Founder of CanopyBoulder. Professional Summary: In 2013, Patrick founded CanopyBoulder, a seed-stage, mentorship-driven business accelerator and investment fund focused on data, fintech, software, and IoT in the cannabis industry as well as hemp/CBD businesses. Prior to CanopyBoulder, Patrick spent 15 years in the natural products industry in roles including M&A, strategic management consulting, venture finance, B2B media, e-commerce, CEO coaching, and entrepreneur mentorship. For five years, Patrick was a consistent presence on The Arcview Group's selection committee and in 2014 acted as Executive Editor for ArcView's State of the Legal Marijuana Market report. He frequently runs panels at industry events, and has served as a judge for multiple Marijuana Business Conference & Expo Pitch Slams. Patrick graduated with two degrees from Brown University where he played Division I soccer, and resides in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two daughters. Patrick embraces all that Colorado has to offer to build relationships with his investors and portfolio CEOs, often inviting them to join him trail running, hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding in the foothills outside of Boulder. Keegan Peterson is Founder and CEO of Würk, the leading human capital management company for the cannabis industry. Keegan founded Wurk in 2015 after recognizing that cannabis businesses didn’t have access to the same scalable HR technology solutions as mainstream companies. Cannabis companies were repeatedly being dropped by workforce management vendors and Keegan saw the opportunity to build an HR and Payroll platform specifically to serve the rapidly growing cannabis industry. Under his leadership, Wurk now serves hundreds of clients across 33 states, including some of the largest publicly traded cannabis corporations in the nation. Würk now pays one in ten employees in the cannabis industry. Prior to founding Wurk, Keegan spent over a decade working for high-growth HR technology companies, developing a deep understanding of how to build and scale software solutions that automate critical HR functions of business operations. Keegan is active in lifting up other entrepreneurs in the cannabis space. He is a mentor at Canopy Boulder and Canopy San Diego, a mentorship-driven, early-stage investment program for startups in the cannabis industry, with a focus on ancillary products and services. Keegan is an outspoken public advocate and thought leader for the cannabis industry and is associate producer on the 2018 documentary Weed The People, which aims to educate mainstream audiences about medical cannabis as a human rights issue.

Stacey is the CEO and co-founder of Law Wurk. With Law Wurk, you get fast legal work done by their network of legal freelancers.
For many business owners, Payroll & Benefits management are a common core part of starting a business. Employees & Taxes need to be paid, laws need to be followed; those are the basics. There are any number of vendors offering those services who will come knocking at your door the moment you register a new business. That's just not the case in the Cannabis Industry. A chance encounter on a Southwest Flight led today's guest to ring up a friend running a successful dispensary, only to find they'd been dropped by 6 payroll companies to service their 100 employees. Layer on complex legal structures, regulations, and tax codes. These are the seeds of what is an especially big problem for the Cannabis industry this is. It takes a special kinda person to want to start a company to solve those problems. Please enjoy the Founder's Journey of Wurk Founder & CEO, Keegan Peterson. Corporate Summary: Wurk exists to help underserved businesses fortify, comply, and thrive in the face of uncertain regulatory environments. Designed specifically for the cannabis industry, our platform and managed services, allows employers to protect and streamline their operations, while providing an environment where people are a priority every step of the way. The intuitive solution automates the most complicated and risk-prone processes associated with Human Resources. For more information visit enjoywurk.com. The Top Entrepreneurs in Money, Marketing, Business and Life
Emily Paxhia. She’s the founder of Poseidon Asset Management and she shifted her focus entirely to the cannabis industry, in 2013. Since that time, she’s taken her experience of researching markets, companies and strategic opportunities and turned them entirely to the world of cannabis. Her focus on understanding where the market is headed rather than where it has been, has been critical to developing a diverse portfolio of companies that span the sector. With over 15 years working with Fortune 500 companies—developing products, resolving strategic errors and addressing new target audiences—her work has been fundamental to stewarding her companies’ portfolios along the paths to success. I was off today and had been working on other mundane things since this morning. I decided to put off posting Madonna's Vintage II until tomorrow so I could take a disco nap instead. A couple of hours later, I was woken by the crackling sound of lightning and the booming blast of thunder that would leave a trailing echo behind it. I thought this must be the end of times or the Queen herself had summoned me back to my computer. To be certain, I got up and went back to work on this post. There ain't nothing like Madonna's bullwhip coming down on you when you're falling behind while in her service. The original two sets of this year's birthday offering were going to be from a pair I had already posted back in 2010. I was going to update them with a couple of new bootlegs and call it a day. After I kept coming across so much new stuff, that all changed. However, this final set does represent many of the original songs taken from those two sets. It starts off with a few new bootlegs, but then quickly evolves into a deep and dark progressive circuit set. Many of the songs are lesser-played versions of past hits or previously unauthorized and if they were, were never included in the official release. This all builds up to the finale with Bit Error's EDM mashup of Like A Virgin, which works surprisingly well. Party Favorz wants to extend a very warm and happy birthday to Madonna Louise Ciccone. We are eagerly anticipating something new by year's end [fingers crossed]. Now everybody else, get to WURK!
