Martin Butcher, he simply loves running. Martin will have a go at any distance from 5k to 96 miles...and he does. Martin describes himself as a lucky runner who has got to do so many things through running.Martins interest in running started as a result of a venture scouts trip of a lifetime to climb Mount Aconcagua (22,838 ft) in Argentina in the year 2000, and the fitness bug was caught. From Argentina to the Dunfermline half marathon in 2003 and the running journey continued from there to the present day.A massive part of Martins running journey is the connections and friends Martin has made. It's no surprise that Martin is a founding member of #teamlifeWe speak a lot about the West Highland Way during the chat, Martin has a deep love for that specific Scottish trail, but he will also happily run a mile in 4mins 52 10 days after running 53 miles!Supporting others who run is another passion of Martins, and he quite happily drives back and forth between checkpoints making sure his runner (and others) is fuelled and ready to go for the next section of the event.Martin describes his favourite event as the West Highland Way of 2023, and it's an edge of the seat listen as he describes the highs, lows and occasional diva moment along the way!Favourite film and book for Martin...Forrest Gump is the answer to both, maybe Forrest inspired the world famous Butcher Sprint, all is described by the man himself in this episode.A well kent face on the Scottish running scene, Martin is never shy to share a smile, a cuddle and words of encouragement to anyone who might benefit from one or all three.Inspirational too in so many ways for friends, family and people he may never even know. Martin is there for ya!An example...Paul Snelling Martin's cousin caught the bug after seeing what Martin was up to, and Paul is in the middle of running 31 marathons in 31 days raising funds for Zurich Community Trust. Even the great Wayne Gretzky has spoken of Kyle's “greatness.”Despite being born with a rare condition known as congenital amputation, that has left him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end near his knees, he learned early on with the support of his family, to live life independently and without prosthetics.Kyle thrives on physical challenges and following a few rough middle school football seasons; he went on to become a champion wrestler, CrossFit Certified Instructor and gym owner, competitive MMA/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter, world record-setting weightlifter, and skilled mountaineer. In 2012, Kyle became the first quadruple amputee to climb – actually bear crawl – the 19,340 feet to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro without the aid of prosthetics. His 10-day ascent was widely covered by the press, followed on social media, and raised money and awareness for wounded veterans as well as Tanzanian schoolchildren. Upon his return, Kyle won his second ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) award for Best Male Athlete with a Disability.Four years later, he reached the summit of Argentina's breathtakingly beautiful and sometimes deadly Mount Aconcagua – the highest peak in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres, standing at 22,838 feet. Following that epic summit, Nike featured Kyle in the powerful commercial “Unlimited Will,” which debuted globally during the 2016 Olympics, was viewed by millions around the world – and was part of the series that AdWeek named the most memorable of all commercials during the 2016 Olympics.Kyle has not let his success be defined by anything or anyone but himself. He has lived his life striving to do more, learn more, push harder, go further—and to inspire others to do the same by sharing his story and living by example. Tatiana Stupak (piano) started learning the piano at age five, studying at the Special School of the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg, and after that, for a further five years, continuing at the Conservatory itself. She is the winner of international music competitions including the Leipzig Bach competition. Tatiana is very well known in Cyprus, having played piano at more than 80 events in the last few years, both as a solo pianist and accompanying other musicians. Since 2018, she has played piano solos at The Big Choir Project concerts. She has developed a second major interest since early 2019: mountaineering! Her goal is to climb the 7 highest mountains of 7 continents. Having had no previous climbing experience, she succeeded in reaching the summit of the highest mountain in Europe (Elbrus) and Africa (Kilimanjaro). Just recently she climbed Mount Damavand, the highest peak in Iran and Western Asia and the highest volcano in Asia She plans next to climb the highest peak in South America, Mount Aconcagua in Argentina while playing music and she is attempting to get in the the Guiness Book of records; she loves adventures of all kinds. For example, in 2018, she took a hot-air balloon flight in Cappadocia; in the summer of 2019, she did her first sky-dive, at Kingsfield Airfield in Cyprus. She also took a trip to frozen Lake Baikal early in 2020, where she played the Russain Gusli instrument. And she leaned free diving in 2020 as well, and proved it, by being filmed playing a piano on the bed of the Mediterranean. She like to combine her musical talents with her adventures, whenever possible. She arranges charity concerts for children and for the church, and brings famous musicians from Russia, for example from the Bolshoi Theatre. She opened the Tatiana Stupak School of Music in 2018, where students can enter for examinations set by the Royal Schools of Music and by Trinity College. Students may also take part in public concerts, to gain experience in performing before audiences. In 2018, Tatiana won awards on being chosen in competition, as Russian Cultural Woman of the Year in Cyprus. In the summer of 2019, having organised fund-raising concerts on several occasions for the Institute of Neurology and Genetics, she was invited to play piano solos at a concert at the Presidential Palace, where President Anastasiades presented her with an award on behalf of the Institute. She has been interviewed many times on Cyprus radio and TV channels. Early in 2020 she was interviewed on the subject of children and music, and the interview was shown on Smile TV; previously she appeared live on TV ONE's charity show, DanSing for You, not as a pianist, but as a dancer. Most recently, she was interviewed by RIK1 TV, and the interview was broadcast in July 2020. Also during 2020, over a period of a few weeks, she made live broadcasts on the Internet, giving illustrated talks about ten classical music composers. Tatiana maintains two YouTube channels: one for herself, and another for her music school. http://tatianastupak.com/biography (http://tatianastupak.com/biography) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPa-fpO17yX0y1aN51Yu_WA (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPa-fpO17yX0y1aN51Yu_WA)

If you say to someone, "You have a mountain to climb", you mean that it will be difficult for them to achieve what they want to achieve. One of my best friends, Nate Redman, took this metaphorically and literally by recently climbing Mount Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the Western and Southern Hemisphere at ~ 23,000 ft (6,961 meters) in Argentina! In Leap of Fate Pod 88, I have a candid conversation with Nate as he takes us through the totality of his journey and shares photos from his summit climb (they are amazing!):1. 13+ months of planning, training, preparing for this grueling 3-week expedition to reach the summit.2. The highs, lows, challenges, and success he experienced on the 3-week climb3. Reflection now that he has accomplished climbing Mount Aconcagua. Aconcagua is a mountain in the Principal Cordillera of the Andes mountain range, in Mendoza Province, Argentina. Aconcagua is one of the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on each of the seven continents. It is second in height after Mount Everest. The first known attempt to reach the mountain's summit was made in 1883, but the attempt failed. In 1897, Swiss mountaineer Matthias Zurbriggen became the first known climber to successfully reach the summit. The altitude on Aconcagua is so extreme that a number of hikers have died from altitude sickness while trying to reach the summit. Climbers also face the challenge of high winds resulting from frequent storms. For anyone who wants to hear an amazing story of perseverance, overcoming adversity, mind over matter, and mountaineers wanting to climb Mount Aconcagua or any mountain, this is the pod for you!Enjoy yall!Nate's IG: https://www.instagram.com/nredman1104/Support the show (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrmJ8rY4ivAKnN3zG0W-1_A)

How will a team help you to get to the top? Find out today. In March of 2018, one of my extended team members and business coaches said, “Robert, I have an idea and I want you to come along.”  When I asked him to tell me more, he said, “I want to climb Mount Aconcagua in December, and I want to know if you’re in.”  I told him I’d never heard of Mount Aconcagua. Before that point, I’d always been an avid backpacker and hiker; I loved the outdoors. So after researching it, I learned that he was talking about a 14-day expedition to climb the tallest peak in South America! I thought to myself that there was no way I could do that—I couldn’t be disconnected from work for two weeks! Long story short: I did it. But how does this relate to real estate and life in general? From the photos we took on the climb (see 1:58 in the video above), you can see three of my friends and I hiking from Camp 1 to Camp 2 on the ninth or tenth day of the climb. The conditions were extreme, and the pictures look pretty epic. However, what you don’t see behind the scenes are the 30 people who helped my team get to that point. We had three expert mountain guides from Aventuras Patagonicas helping us get to the top—we didn’t realize how many people were involved with making sure we had an amazing experience, like the medical team, the porters, the mules, the kitchen staff, and so on. “Having a team of professionals to help is the best way to get the most people to the top.” That’s why this story is relevant: Only a  team of professionals can help you get to the top. Buying a home can be a big, scary decision, and if you don’t have the right team on your side as you climb that particular mountain, you won’t have someone to ensure your experience is excellent and that the decisions you’ve made were good ones. The same is true for selling property, liquidating your assets, and then transitioning to a different home so your family can have a better quality of life. About 90% of agents in Orange County are solo agents who take on all the sundry parts of the home buying or selling process on their own. Could I have climbed the mountain with just one person? It’s not impossible, sure, but having a team of professionals helping is the best way to get the most people to the top. I don’t personally believe that I could have climbed to the top of my own mountain with just one person; it would have made the situation so much more challenging (and potentially unsuccessful). My team absolutely helped me get there. The bottom line is that when you’re buying or selling a home, there are a lot of moving parts to the process. You’ll want to work with an agent who will hold your hand from the beginning to the end and who also has a team on staff to make your experience efficient, pleasurable, predictable, and successful. So if you’re thinking about buying or selling a home in the Orange County area and you’d like to learn more about how my team and I can help you get to the top of your own real estate mountain, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’d love the opportunity to work with you.

Oprah Winfrey called Kyle “one of the most inspiring young men you will ever hear about.” Arnold Schwarzenegger described him as “the real deal,” “a champion human,” and “one of the most inspiring people” he’s ever met. Even the great Wayne Gretzky has spoken of Kyle’s “greatness.” Despite being born with a rare condition known as congenital amputation, that has left him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end near his knees, he learned early on with the support of his family, to live life independently and without prosthetics. Kyle thrives on physical challenges and following a few rough middle school football seasons; he went on to become a champion wrestler, CrossFit Certified Instructor and gym owner, competitive MMA/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter, world record-setting weightlifter, and skilled mountaineer. In 2012, Kyle became the first quadruple amputee to climb – actually bearcrawl – the 19,340 feet to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro without the aid of prosthetics. His 10-day ascent was widely covered by the press, followed on social media, and raised money and awareness for wounded veterans as well as Tanzanian schoolchildren. Upon his return, Kyle won his second ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) award for Best Male Athlete with a Disability. Four years later, he reached the summit of Argentina’s breathtakingly beautiful and sometimes deadly Mount Aconcagua – the highest peak in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres, standing at 22,838 feet. Following that epic summit, Nike featured Kyle in the powerful commercial “Unlimited Will,” which debuted globally during the 2016 Olympics, was viewed by millions around the world – and was part of the series that AdWeek named the most memorable of all commercials during the 2016 Olympics. Kyle has not let his success be defined by anything or anyone but himself. He has lived his life striving to do more, learn more, push harder, go further—and to inspire others to do the same by sharing his story and living by example. Though he tailors his speeches to his audience, his messages are centered on building a life driven by purpose and meaning, the importance of the undying pursuit of dreams, and the belief that no obstacle is too great and nothing in their lives can keep them from accomplishing their goals. Whether you're a buyer or seller, you need a team to help you achieve your real estate goals. How will a team help you get to the top? Before I answer that question, allow me to share a quick story. In March 2018, one of my extended team members—my business coach—told me he wanted to climb Mount Aconcagua, the tallest peak in South America, later that December and wanted to know if I'd come along. I'd always been an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, but I'd never heard of Mount Aconcagua, so I told him I'd have to learn more about it first.  After doing a little research, I learned that climbing Mount Aconcagua would be a 14-day expedition. That's when I thought, “There's no way I can do this.” I couldn't just disconnect from my life for 14 days. Then, he told me that it would actually last 20 days.  Long story short, I did it, and the reason why was the team that was assembled to guide us on the expedition. There's an important lesson here that applies to buying or selling a home.  To put this into perspective, you can see a picture of me and three of my friends at 1:45 in the video hiking from camp one to camp two on the mountain. This was around day nine, and it gives you a good idea of how extreme the situation was. You might look at this photo and think, “Wow, what an epic picture,” but what you don't see is the 30 others that helped my team and me get to that point. We had three expert guides assigned to us to make sure we got to the top, but we didn't know there would also be many others who were in charge of making sure we had an amazing experience.  “You want to work with an agent who has a staff dedicated to making sure the experience is efficient, pleasurable, and successful.” From the medical team to the porters to the mules to the kitchen staff, we had so many people helping us get to the top, and we wouldn't have been able to get that photo without them.  Buying a home can be a scary decision, but it's also very exciting. However, if you don't have the right team on your side, you won't get from where you are to where you want to be. You also won't have a good experience. The same goes for sellers, whether you're liquidating your assets or transitioning into a bigger home.  No matter what, these are big mountains to climb, and it's important to understand that 90% of all agents in Orange County are solo agents. They do everything themselves. Could I have climbed Mount Aconcagua with just one other person? It's not impossible, but most people get to the top because they have a team of trained professionals helping them every step of the way.  I don't think I could've made it to the top with just one other person; the team is what helped me. There is a lot that goes into buying or selling a home, so you want to work with an agent who has a staff dedicated to making sure the experience is efficient, pleasurable, and successful. You also need a team that works with extended team members like title and escrow officers, handymen, contractors, etc.  So if you're thinking of buying or selling in Orange County and you want to know how my team and I can help you get to the top, don't hesitate to reach out to me. We'd love to work with you.

"We live in a society that we think we have to reach the summit" "Climb as hard as you can but relinquish the fact that you've ever arrived."  It will never be enough to fulfill you. "The world will not be tailored for your every need." "We are softening the edges, we need to learn how to mentally deal with things." "We need to choose conscious suffering." "Voluntary hardship" The power of meeting veterans in an airport on a way to giving motivational speeches "It shifted, it wasn't about me."  The message helped veterans not commit suicide. "It's B.S. to think anyone is self-made.  We all need help."  The ripple effect. Why climb? "I want to experience the world.  Just did scuba dive at the Great Barrier reef." Crawling 19,340 feet in just ten days... Climbing Mount Kilmanjaro "Focus on that next three feet in front of you..." Just the next step.  Before you know it, you put your head up and you're at your destination Reminds me of Alison Levine -- "Just put one foot in front of the other and take that next step. Just keep going." "I don't know if I have enough in the tank, but I'm going to keep going." "The 3 feet in front of you is the only thing that matters" "Anything is possible is a lie... My history with today’s guest, Kyle Maynard, goes back a decade or so to my banking days when I heard him speak at an event and left completely inspired. Imagine my surprise when I met him again two years ago and got a chance to talk with him at Lewis Howes’ Summit of Greatness event. I’m so glad that we were able to get him on For the Love of Money and share more with all of you!   Many of you have likely heard about Kyle and his epic story. But for those who don’t know, he was born with a rare condition called congenital amputation that left him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end around his knees. He credits his parents for helping him navigate life with this challenge (without prosthetics) and for encouraging him that anything was possible. And wow, did he ever prove that there were no limits – so much so that others felt his “disadvantage” was actually an unfair advantage!   In Kyle’s younger years, he found success in both wrestling and football, but most recently he became famous for becoming the first man to climb (bearcrawl) Mount Kilimanjaro. Today he continues to thrive on physical challenges, however he’s added an extra focus on photography and film.   Kyle shares his incredible story and “No Excuses” philosophy in the hope that it inspires others to banish their excuses and make the world a better place. My hope is that his story inspires you to do the same.   --   Question Highlights: What was it like to climb Mount Kilimanjaro? Is filming/photography your new rush? How many times a year do you speak? What does your hustle look like now? What common threads do you see between those who are successful and those who are not? Where are you going to take this newfound love for photography and film? What’s one of the best business decisions you’ve ever made? How can people get past their BS excuses? Now that you’ve raised your speaking fees, do you see a difference in the quality of events that you speak at? What cause(s) do you care the most about and what causes should we be more aware of?   In This Episode We Talk about:   Kyle’s childhood journey growing up with congenital amputation Using doubts to fuel you to be and do better Kyle’s success in athletics (wrestling, football, crossfit) Kyle’s Mount Kilimanjaro climb (bearcrawl) The importance of quality relationships (the “beer test”) What it means to do the “deep work” The value in creating a structure for decision-making Learning from your excuses How and why Kyle raised his speaking fees And so much more…   Kyle’s Thoughts…   “The map is not the territory.” – Alfred Korzybski   “Focus on the deep work.”   “Create a structure so you don’t have to make the same decisions all the time.”   “There is no end to our excuses.”   “No excuses give you the freedom to try.”   -- Kyle Maynard is an entrepreneur, speaker, best-selling author, award-winning extreme athlete, and the first man to bearcrawl to the top of the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro (19,340 feet), and the summit of Argentina’s Mount Aconcagua (22,838 feet), the highest peak in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres.   Born with a rare condition known as congenital amputation, that left him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end near his knees, he learned early on to live life independently and without prosthetics. Kyle thrives on physical challenges and is a champion wrestler, CrossFit Certified Instructor and gym owner, competitive Mixed Martial Arts fighter, world record-setting weightlifter, and skilled mountaineer.   He is on a mission to make the world a better place and to inspire others to do the same by sharing his story and living by example. Kyle Maynard (@kylemaynard) is a motivational speaker, bestselling author, entrepreneur, and ESPY award-winning mixed martial arts athlete, known for becoming the first quadruple amputee to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Aconcagua without the aid of prosthetics. Oprah Winfrey called Kyle "one of the most inspiring young men you will ever hear about." Arnold Schwarzenegger described him as "the real deal," "a champion human," and "one of the most inspiring people" he's ever met. Even the great Wayne Gretzky has spoken of Kyle's "greatness." Despite being born with a rare condition that left him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end near his knees, he learned early on with the support of his family to live life independently and without prosthetics. Kyle thrives on physical challenges and, following a few rough middle school football seasons, he went on to become a champion wrestler, CrossFit Certified Instructor and gym owner, competitive MMA/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter, world record-setting weightlifter, and skilled mountaineer. How difficult would your day-to-day tasks become if you were missing just one of your arms? How about both? What if you were missing all four limbs? Now, after you surmount your everyday challenges regarding getting dressed, feeding yourself, typing etc (without prosthetics mind you), go compete in football, excel at wrestling, then go climb (check that, bear crawl) up a mountain, wait, make it Mt. Kilimanjaro. Yeah, this is just SOME of what Kyle Maynard has accomplished. Listen as I interview quadruple congenital amputee Kyle Maynard, who has conquered more physical-related challenges and obstacles than most people able bodied people, Kyle is an entrepreneur, speaker, best-selling author of the book No Excuse, he was the focus of a moving ESPN documentary called “A Fighting Chance.” has appeared on Oprah, HBO Sports, ABC's 20/20, He was on the University of Georgia wrestling team, he is an ESPY award winner, the first quadruple amputee to climb to the top of the highest mountain in Africa at 19,340 feet, and the summit of Argentina’s Mount Aconcagua at 22,838 feet. Find out how the environment Kyle grew up in affected his positive mindset despite his physical setbacks. Kyle talks about how his parents “Jedi-mind tricked” him into believing that he was capable of doing the same things his able-bodied peers could do. Their confidence in him was a key ingredient to the success and independence he steadily built.   In the interview, Kyle describes some of the darker periods of his life when he wasn’t sure if he wanted to continue on. He says, “I’m fortunate and lucky at the fact that I didn’t make a more permanent decision to end my life at that point.” Every day we’re faced with a choice– do we want to live within the confines we’ve set for ourselves or do we want to try to surpass them? “If we’re fixed to what we know, we can’t grow,” Kyle says.  “I used to say anything is possible, but I don’t really believe that,” he continues. “I believe a better way to state that is to know your limits but never stop trying to break them. But that only happens by, ironically, not knowing your limits.”  Kyle’s story serves as a reminder that we so often define our lives by what we don’t have. Perhaps instead we should start focusing on what we do.      Show Notes 0:05:28 How he types 50 words per minute ...without hands 0:06:43 Kyles 1st experience with resilience as a kid 0:06:48 Hie parents jedi mind trick to get him tough 07:39 Learning how to wrestle, an education in failure 09:57 His first goal in wrestling 11:39 For BJJ grappling nerds only. 0:13:48: The power of belief 18:25 Why no arms and legs is his greatest strength 23:47 His parents “bounce” moment 26:23 Great story where he talks about the first time dressed himself 34:09.
