In this episode, GG Hawkins is joined by writer-director duo (and real-life couple) David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano to discuss their new film I Don't Understand You, a genre-bending dark comedy starring Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells. The film follows a couple on a babymoon in Italy that spirals into chaos and violence. Craig and Crano share their process of fictionalizing their own adoption journey, balancing collaboration as married filmmakers, and navigating international co-productions. They also dive into the mechanics of shooting stunts, working with passionate collaborators, and sustaining a creative life while parenting. In this episode, No Film School's GG Hawkins and guests David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano discuss... How personal experiences shaped the emotionally charged and comedic tone of I Don't Understand You Transitioning from individual careers in acting and theater to collaborative filmmaking Tips for making international co-productions smoother, especially in Italy The logistics and artistry of filming stunts that are both shocking and funny Balancing parenting and directing, and how being a parent reshapes storytelling instincts Hiring passionate collaborators to elevate areas where you may feel less confident Why directors should consider editing or DP paths for a more sustainable career Memorable Quotes: "My films are like my ex-wives — I'm glad they exist and I never want to see them again." "We just decided early that on set, we would shoot everything and figure it out after." "Directing is like being eaten by crows — no one wants all of you, but everyone wants three bites." It's not unusual for real-life experiences to serve as an inspiration for a movie. That's the case with "I Don't Understand You," a collaboration between David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano, who wrote and directed the comedy horror starring Nick Kroll, Andrew Rannells and Morgan Spector. In this episode, hear from the directors and what led them to make the film, as well as both Kroll and Rannells. Speaking of horror, Stephen King has long been king of the genre, but some of his less-than-scary stories have made for some great film adaptations, such as "Stand By Me" and "The Shawshank Redeption." The latest, "The Life of Chuck" starring Tom Hiddleston, is gaining a lot of buzz as one of the top films so far this year. About the show Streamed & Screened is a podcast about movies and TV hosted by Bruce Miller, a longtime entertainment reporter who is now the editor of the Sioux City Journal in Iowa and Terry Lipshetz, a senior producer for Lee Enterprises based in Madison, Wisconsin. Welcome to Flashback Friday! We're bringing back two great films that we covered at SXSW, because you will be able to see them on the big screen (and we highly recommend that you do) during the Frameline Film Festival in San Francisco (from June 19th -June 29th)!A House Is Not A Disco captures a year in the life of the world's most iconic homo-normative community: Fire Island Pines. Director Brian J. Smith and producer Jeremy Truong share the difficulty of staying focused while you're being offered margaritas during filming, how climate change became an important part of the story, and the concept behind "food for bottoms".I Don't Understand You is a narrative film that follows an American couple on the verge of adopting a baby as they find themselves stranded in rural Italy without transportation or language skills. And of course, chaos ensues. This interview is with producers Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett from Pinky Promise Films. We get into starting a production company during the heart of the pandemic, their decision making process for new films, how being a young company is an advantage in an ever changing industry, and what a difference it makes to work with really cool people.Purchase tickets to see these films here!Follow A House Is Not A Disco on IGFollow director Brian J. My sleep is different than most. According to a sleep study, my body won't/doesn't allow my brain to reach REM sleep. When I sleep there is just darkness, there is no dream state. I married my dream, so I can't dream more, right? Last night out of a sound sleep, I heard what I can only describe as a prize fighters “rounds bell”. I heard it clang three times just as if it was truly in our bedroom. I sprang right up out of bed and said out loud… “what the hell was that?” Lori didn't hear it. So, it went sleep, darkness, bell clang three times, awake. No dream, no visual remembered. Notice, too, I never asked for whom the bell tolls, for I know it tolled for me. I just want to know why! Turns out Ozzy Osbourne had some sense about him when he recorded Crazy Train...who knew?!Do you ever feel like you are on the crazy train? Here are a few things you can do - 1) Understand - YOU are not alone 2) Search for the root of your doubt, anger, uncertainty (control, not getting what you wanted, etc.) 3. Talk to someone & tell them you are struggling - just getting it out there is HUGE 4. Take a new approach to studying scripture (art, journal, translation, listening, etc. ) 5. Talk to God more - not less - tell Him what you are struggling with, why and ask Him to show up and show off for you. You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. – Psalm 56:8Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne LyricsAll aboard Ha ha ha ha ha ha haAy, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ayCrazy, but that's how it goesMillions of people living as foesMaybe it's not too lateTo learn how to loveAnd forget how to hateMental wounds not healingLife's a bitter shameI'm going off the rails on a crazy trainI'm going off the rails on a crazy trainLet's goI've listened to preachersI've listened to foolsI've watched all the dropoutsWho make their own rulesOne person conditioned to rule and controlThe media sells it, and you live the roleMental wounds still screamingDriving me insaneI'm going off the rails on a crazy trainI'm going off the rails on a crazy trainI know that things are going wrong for meYou gotta listen to my words, yeahHeirs of a cold warThat's what we've becomeInheriting troubles, I'm mentally numbCrazy, I just cannot bearI'm living with something that just isn't fairMental wounds not healingWho and what's to blame?I'm going off the rails on a crazy trainI'm going off the rails on a crazy trainHa ha ha ha ha ha haThe ledge, ha-ha, the edgeSource: Musixmatch

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Monday! This week's theme for the podcast is: Top 5 Most Unpleasant EmotionsThis week I am going to be chatting about what I feel are the top 5 most unpleasant emotions that we all experience at one time or another. The emotions I chat about today are all ones we have experienced in our lives, but may have struggled to overcome on our own. I want to share with you a few steps/ideas each day on how to overcome the burden these emotions bring & what to do moving forward. Here are some notes from today's episode:Loneliness is one of those emotions that can catch you by surprise. Because you can be doing fine, have great relationships, but there can be a gap, a disconnect, between you & everyone else.Loneliness is one of the most unpleasant emotions because it's such a weighted feeling of isolation & feeling disconnected. Generally the person wants to be socially involved, but there is something that gets in the way. Whether that is lack of people or events to be apart of or low self-esteem & not feeling worthy enough to be involved with the chosen people or apart of the desired events. And obviously, loneliness can hit those that depend heavily on social interaction to keep their mindsets right & attitudes positive, but it's still something that can easily affect everyone. And I would say that loneliness is a state of mind, not necessarily the act of being alone. Because being alone isn't necessarily a bad thing, we all need time away from everything else. But because it is a state of mind, those feelings of emptiness, being alone & not worthy or unwanted by others that could help us break out of that loneliness, can really dig deep & become more permanent that it needs to or should.Unfortunately, if loneliness is not treated, it can become a symptom of depression, drug-use, increased stress, poor decision-making & suicide.Let's talk about some ways to combat loneliness because just living through it will not cut it. You need to make a conscious decision to change your mindset & figure out how to experience loneliness less & less.Today I'm going to give you 5 steps to overcoming loneliness.Step 1: Understand You're WorthyStep 2: Invest in Quality RelationshipsStep 3: Engage in Volunteering/Helping OthersStep 4: Try New Activities to Meet OthersStep 5: Get Help From a CounselorPlease share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @realpositivegirlpodcast or @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi!Have any questions, comments or feedback? This conversation is about BEING STUCK IN A RUT. You know the story. You (or they) once we’re in good shape, you’ve been fitter, leaner and healthier previously, but things have slipped and you find yourself without the drive or momentum to get yourself out of the hole. We’ve all been there. But here’s the interesting thing - most people will say “I’m just stuck in a rut. I know what I need to do, but…”. What follows is varied, but typically has some aspect of past experience when they once lost weight or were in better shape. Oh, there will inevitably be a few ‘facts’ they hold as gospel, which no longer hold water based on latest nutritional science. This is the essence of the Podcast today. Understanding the Psyche, Context and Unique Solution to getting out of THE RUT. Intuitively we all know that holding extra weight is a function of over eating over a long period of time. As such, and combined with past experience and mis-informed knowledge, we mostly have just one modality of losing weight. The way that worked before. "If eating too much got me here, then I just need to do the polar opposite. Starve myself of food and the things I enjoy and I’ll get results.” There’s one big problem with that. The motivation to get out of the enjoyable (but dissatisfying) rut, for most people, sounds awful. Sheer suffering. No fun. Punishment. After all, I need to be punished and suffer to right the wrongs, and to develop, right? Let’s explore this conversation together. You’ll enjoy where this one goes... Here’s what we discuss: 1️⃣ A little Exercise Banter - Love/Hate relationship with Leg Day, and Fav Leg Exercises. Includes some mention to APR-19 #HyperWorkouts Getting Stuck In A Rut (20:45 onwards) 2️⃣ I know what to do, but… - What this means, the hidden messages and common beliefs and excuses 3️⃣ Is what you know the only way? - Or is it the most unenjoyable and aggressive way? Your one modality? 4️⃣ How naive confidence get’s in the way - Seeking advice, but not willing try different approaches. The value of an open mind. 5️⃣ Are you asking how, or are you seeking inspiration? - Or is it something different? 6️⃣ Understand YOU then choose the Approach - How your psyche, personality, emotional and physical needs need to play into diet selection 7️⃣ Key questions to ask yourself - In answering these questions, the right short term diet and long-term habit changes will present themselves 8️⃣ Follow the ‘diet rules’, but invest in understanding the mechanism - The diet style is dependant on you. But the goal should be to be liberated with the knowledge of why it works. 9️⃣ Key pieces of advice for long term weight loss and weight management - Six ideas that underpin ongoing weight management whilst enjoying life In-Show References: Losing Body Fat For Good article & Podcast version Steve’s 5 Week 14lbs Cut AdapNation’s guidance to optimal nutrition - IIFYM+ Thrive article series Addictive Foods Podcast(2 parter) AdapNation Food Diary - 100’s of home-cooked meal ideas #HyperWorkouts - Free expertly written training blocks, including APR-19 Guys and APR-19 Ladies! 3 Pillars to Lean Muscle Growth Podcast ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you like this and other AdapNation episodes, please don't forget to subscribe to the channel, as well as leaving a 5 star review and letting friends and family know of this Podcast on Social Media. Thoughts on some of the struggles when you believe in the Qur’an alone. The road is tough. There is no point in waiting for people to catch up. If friends and family don’t understand, that is normal.
