If you think of cardiovascular blood flow as just a background bodily process, this episode will completely change your perspective. Dr. Fiona Lovely welcomes back the brilliant Cathy Eason, MS, BCHN, for a masterclass on one of the body's most critical signaling molecules. With her deep expertise in human nutrition, physiology, and translating complex biology into clinical insights, Cathy reveals why nitric oxide is a foundational pillar for women navigating perimenopause and beyond. The conversation dives into a powerful, yet often overlooked, concept: that cardiovascular blood flow is our power source. Cathy explains how declining nitric oxide production, which naturally begins to drop around age 40, directly impacts everything from energy levels and brain fog to hormone balance and cardiovascular resilience. She details the fascinating connection between our oral microbiome, dietary nitrates from leafy greens, and our body's ability to create this vital compound. Listeners will gain crucial education on the direct link between nitric oxide, blood pressure regulation, and heart health—a critical topic for women, as heart disease remains the number one killer. Cathy also unveils exciting insights into how supporting this pathway can influence other hallmark menopausal experiences, including sleep disturbances, temperature dysregulation, and even sexual wellness, by enhancing tissue perfusion and nervous system balance. This episode is a compelling call to focus on this fundamental aspect of our biology for both immediate symptom relief and long-term vitality. Find out more about Nitric Oxide at berkeleylife.com! Get ready to have your mind blown by one of the most exciting frontiers in health science. In this episode of the Not Your Mother's Menopause Podcast, I'm sitting down with the incredibly knowledgeable Kyal Van Der Leest, an Australian Nutritionist and Naturopath who is truly pioneering the future of wellness. If you've heard the term "peptides" buzzing around but aren't quite sure what they are or how they could revolutionize your health, especially during the hormonal shifts of menopause, this conversation is your essential guide. We dive deep into the fascinating world of peptides, explaining them not as foreign chemicals, but as the body's own innate messengers that speak its language fluently. Kyal masterfully breaks down how these powerful chains of amino acids act as targeted instructions for healing, regeneration, and repair in a way that traditional supplements and pharmaceuticals simply can't. The conversation gets particularly illuminating as we explore the profound gut-brain connection and how a specific peptide can actually block zonulin—the very protein responsible for creating leaky gut—offering a revolutionary approach to sealing a permeable gut lining. We also discuss why these are often short-term, interventional tools designed to restore your body's foundation so you can thrive long after you've stopped taking them. This is a masterclass in cutting-edge, holistic health that you won't want to miss. You can find out more about LVLUP Health and Kyal here. Thank you to our sponsors for this episode:

In this solo episode of the Not Your Mother's Menopause Podcast, Dr. Fiona Lovely provides a vital and compassionate guide to the Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM). She begins by explaining that the GSM is a spectrum of symptoms affecting the genitourinary tract due to declining estrogen and androgenic hormones (like testosterone and DHEA) during the menopause transition. Dr. Lovely details the common yet often unspoken symptoms, which can include vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, urinary urgency, recurrent bladder infections, and changes in libido and sensation. She emphasizes that these changes are not something to suffer through in silence and offers clear, actionable solutions. We discuss treatment using low-dose vaginal estrogen, a safe and effective option for nearly everyone that directly addresses the root cause of tissue thinning and fragility. Dr. Lovely provides practical application advice and recommends specific formulations. Beyond treatment, she encourages open communication with our sex partners to navigate changing intimacy needs and suggests speaking with employers about necessary accommodations if symptoms affect work. This episode is an empowering call to seek compassionate care and prioritize quality of life, no matter where you are in the menopause landscape. Thank you to our sponsors for this episode:

In this special episode, we're sharing Dr. Lovely's interview from the Women Aging Powerfully Summit with host Leah Vachani. With 20 years of clinical experience in women's physical and mental health, Dr. Lovely pulled back the curtain on Musculoskeletal Syndrome of Menopause (MSM)—a debilitating but rarely discussed condition tied to estrogen loss. Here are the key insights from their conversation. Highlights from the interview: MSM affects 71% of women, yet remains underdiagnosed, with symptoms like joint stiffness, bone density loss, and declining muscle mass. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is protective: Bioidentical progesterone (key for nerve messages to the brain and back) and estradiol reduce pain, improve bone density, and preserve muscle. Protein is a game-changer: Most women eat only 55–75g/day, but keeping protein consumption optimal stabilizes blood sugar, and fights sarcopenia. Movement is non-negotiable: Resistance training and balance exercises (like single-leg stands) prevent falls and cognitive decline—even 60-second movement breaks boost metabolism. Doctor advocacy tips: Ask specifically for contemporary HRT like bioidentical progesterone and topical estrogen, and reference Dr. Vonda Wright's MSM research if met with resistance. Whether you're experiencing MSM, navigating menopause, or facing other health challenges at midlife, this conversation is an invitation to listen inward. The hidden pain of musculoskeletal changes asks us to honor our bodies with better nutrition, intentional movement, and empowered healthcare choices. Dr. Lovely's insights remind us that healing begins when we trust our symptoms as messengers—not enemies—and have the courage to advocate for treatments that align with our biological truth. This is more than a discussion about hormones and joints—it's about reclaiming agency. When we understand the science behind our pain, we transform fear into action. When we prioritize protein and strength, we rewrite the narrative of decline. And when we speak up in our doctor's office, we honor the wisdom of our bodies in a medical system that often dismisses women's pain. The path through menopause isn't about passive acceptance—it's about meeting your body with curiosity, compassion, and the conviction that you deserve solutions. Today, Dr. Lovely welcomes a conversation with Amitay Eshel, co-founder and CEO of Young Goose and host of the Biohacking Beauty podcast. Amitay, an entrepreneur in the biohacking and beauty industries, explains the science behind accelerated skin aging during perimenopause and menopause, focusing on how declining estrogen impacts essential skin components like collagen, elasticity, hyaluronic acid, and cellular autophagy. Highlights from our chat: NAD+ is a foundational molecule for cellular repair and longevity, whose levels decline rapidly with age and are further reduced by falling estrogen, leaving skin "starved". Amitay focuses on an "upstream" method of anti aging with the skin, providing NAD+ precursors like NMN to replenish energy and repair functions, rather than just treating visible wrinkles. Spermadine is introduced as a "magical molecule" essential for triggering autophagy, the body's vital cellular recycling process that renews older cells and boosts collagen production. Women experience accelerated skin aging during perimenopause and menopause due to significant drops in estrogen, leading to rapid declines in collagen, elasticity, hyaluronic acid, and autophagy, contributing to a pro-inflammatory skin state. Young Goose integrates these NAD+ innovations and spermadine into its skincare range, offering a holistic approach to biological aging in the skin. His recovery began with daily sun exposure—a simple shift that dramatically improved his hormone levels, mood, and overall vitality. Gerardo now educates others on the science of light: how UVB, red, and infrared wavelengths support vitamin D production, hormone balance, mental clarity, and even skin health. He also shares why he created the Mitolux lamp—to help people safely access the benefits of sunlight indoors, especially in modern lifestyles that keep us indoors and afraid of the sun. If you've ever wondered whether sunlight could be more healing than harmful, this episode is a must-listen. We talked about anemia in women as a frequently overlooked concern, with dehydration being a significant interconnected factor (did you know? I didn't!) Personalised medicine, based on the mantra "everything is connected, we are all unique, and all things matter" vs. protocol-driven approaches was explored in this chat. We discussed the importance of understanding bioindividuality through the epigenome and individual life history. The conversation reframed longevity as living well and with purpose, advocating for engagement with individual needs. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. A critically important issue on the show today - women's rights in the workplace especially in our menopause transition years. [SEGMENT 1-1] Election Runup 1 Where was all that enthusiasm for Harris we were told about? Colonial Metals Group [X] SB – Benny Johnson Thousands at her rallies. The Left attempted to tell us that Trump rallies were empty. I will discuss blatant lies more in just a bit. And as you already know, there were MANY. We were told that Harris didn't hire anybody, but then I see all the buses… [SEGMENT 1-2] Election Runup 2 [X] SB – Early voting update in PA 700k less than where they were in 2020 350K less than 2022 NC: Trump up over 50% Early voting, Republicans ahead in NC. Never happened Black turnout is WAY down. Same in Pittsburg and Philly 25-30% of those are voting for Trump. [SEGMENT 1-3] Election Runup 3 [X] SB – Andrea Mitchell blames misogyny for Harris loss Make it look respectable. Sponsors That's all the cabal can do at this point, because NOBODY believes Harris can beat Trump. Recap of Trump's history with Democrats You have known for months that Trump can't be beaten. Democrats dumped Biden partially because of Biden, but mostly because the public figured out that they couldn't lie Biden into office again. Nobody believes Biden beat Trump, but they sold that lie. HUGE MISTAKE. Democrats thought by defeating Trump in 2020 he would go away. But he's FAR MORE DANGEROUS today. Notice, they never tried to assassinate him while he was running or even when he served. They did mini-lawfare, and ultimately took him out in the bloodless coup. RFK Jr, Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard… Not dumb people. Trump signs being hidden. But this time is different. You FEEL it, and haven't wanted to jinx it. But if you KNEW that elections were fair, you would have thrown victory parties, and not watch parties. Superstitious, skeptical, burnt by the past, you refused to trust your gut. High achievers, people pleasers and perfectionists are often looking for others to notice, appreicate and validate their words and actions. When that doesn't happen, or doesn't happen as often as you would like, it's common to feel unnoticed, unappreciated, frustrated or even resentful. This episode will help you find ways to feel appreciated-- regardless of others. (Hint: Your feelings come from your thinking, not what others say and do.) Challenging our assumptions about painWhen Jackie Gonzalez was just young, doctors assumed that she was pining for attention when she restlessly tried to rub her feet and describing that she was in constant pain. It wasn't until she was a teenager that doctors and scientists diagnosed her with Erythromelalgia, also known as ‘Man on Fire Syndrome'. It's a rare condition, and even rarer for people to be born with it, like Jackie was. But what if this uncommon ailment could be cured with the help of an even less common animal?Dr. Kaylee Byers sits down with Adele Gonzalvez from the University of Sydney on her work to understand the genetic properties of platypus venom. Researchers indicate that their peculiar toxin could put a halt to chronic pain. How do you feel about structure in your business? Do you love it… or do you feel like you're “allergic” to structure? (Let me know in the comments below!) Whether you naturally gravitate towards structure or not, I invite you to check out these core structure strategies that will help you:
Growing up we hear that we should be conscientious of how WE make OTHER people feel...sometimes at the cost of our own discomfort. This thought process subconsciously facilitates a stifling of our own feelings. And quite frankly, that's nokay. It's time you take notice in how OTHERS make YOU FEEL. Have you ever taken the time to notice how you feel? Music by: AlexGrohl from Pixabay Music_Unlimited from Pixabay AudioCoffee from Pixabay Anton_Vlasov from Pixabay Editing by Sith-Web

For more, head over to: www.franexcell.com/ Little things for big changes Happy Monday to you, or happy any day that you're listening! I wanted to talk about something that I have found to be absolutely transformative in my life and creating changes. It's things that are very very easily overlooked but can really make a huge difference in how you feel in, and about yourself! The reason i'm wanting to talk about it today is because i've had a really big focus on it this year and the difference has been huge. These things become even more important if you're going through a turbulent time, which also makes them easy to ignore or forget about so it does require a little bit of effort on your part. But i'm going to help you make it as easy as possible. Now, what are these THINGS I keep talking about? That will be TOTALLY individual to you. But it's the things that make you feel GOOD. Not just good in general but good about your SELF. The things that make you feel good in your own skin. The things that lead to more confidence. The things that lead to you having a different posture. The things that make you trust yourself more. You see the knock on effects? They're huge. And all the while you're rewiring these feelings of self trust, self compassion, self confidence to be your new normal, and trust me when I say feeling this way spills out onto everything that you do. 2023 is the year of me. But that's just because it's fun to say and reminds me of the focus. It's about habits. It's how you talk to yourself and how you treat yourself and what you know you want and need to feel your best. For me it's things like making sure I get to the gym and spa. Firstly because as soon as I drive into the entrance and see the trees I physically feel my nervous system shift. When I was really going through it before and during my break up it really was my sanctuary. It was my escape. It was where I could focus on me and have the space that I needed to look after myself. I make sure I get there 3-4 days per week. Perhaps you have somewhere like that? Somewhere where you just feel safe and calm and in control. Knowing what you need to do to take care of yourself? It might be a friends house, with family, it might be a place in the woods that you walk to, somewhere with a view that calms you right down? It can be as simple as a favourite cafe. You FEEL the physical shift when you're there. Notice that and notice how you feel about yourself in those moments. Another one for me is getting out on the river on my paddle board. I find being in and around water incredibly regulating and I also feel good that i'm being active. Funnily enough, because it's the polar opposite energy, is making sure i'm in London 2-3 days per week. For me it reminds me who I am. It reminds me of the opportunity and vibrancy that is available to me. It means i'm spending time with people, new friends and old. It makes me feel like me. But I definitely start to tip over the edge after a few days without my green spaces. I've talked about this before but little things like making sure I look after my skin and moisturise every day makes me feel amazing. Using the posh stuff…just because it's Wednesday! In the year of me that's where my money goes too. So every time I buy something I ask myself, is this going to make me feel good? Put simply it's looking after yourself and allowing yourself to know you're worth the effort! For me at the moment it's all about me time, exercise, relaxation and regulation, skincare, But it's not about how you look…it's about how you FEEL…which incidentally changes the way you look anyway ha! I've had a fair few people tell me now that i've got more of a ‘glow' about me…and i'm not mad about it! I can't tell you what a huge effect that has on everything else. Including how you show up with other people. Another thing i've been doing, which I kind of touched on in a recent episode, is allowing myself to be more in the moment. Take things day by day. This has allowed me to open myself up to some things that I would never have been able to do before. And i'm not gonna lie…i'm having a lot of fun with it! Less in my head, more in my body. So have a think about what some of the little things might be for you. It really doesn't matter how small. Practice saying ‘will this make me feel good' before doing or buying things. See how much it changes how you feel about yourself and your outlook. Fx
We've been discussing the term you've probably heard a lot about and yet very few if any tell you exactly how this frequency or vibration issue works. As you should know by now, even modern science tells us that everything has a frequency: your house, your car, your body, your business, your bank account... in our last session we discussed raising your mental frequency. Now let's discuss something vastly more powerful—your emotional frequency. First, it's important to realize that your emotions are “energy in motion” they move the body to action. Emotion is the term we put upon feeling which is the actual frequency. Feelings and frequencies are visceral. You FEEL them in the body. The challenge that most don't realize in Personal Performance and Leadership is that there are only two ways to change a frequency. Change your feeling or utilize sound. “And God SAID...” That's another topic for another day. It's important to realize that every single feeling frequency has a neurological impulse that shoots through your entire physical body. That impulse/frequency either strengthens you or weakens you... there is no neutral. This was proven by the research of Dr. David Hawkins. For instance, one bout of anger (a very low and disempowering frequency) has a disempowering impact on your body for 6 hours. Not a good choice for a reaction in traffic. Love and gratitude on the other hand are scientifically proven to improve your brain, your mood, and your body. Changing your feelings is complicated because your feeling mind is your UCM and it drives 95% of your daily actions. Most of what's lodged in your UCM are unresolved emotional issues, traumas and things that have been handed to us by outside sources early in life. So, if we want to change our emotional frequency, we have to do the work to make the UC conscious. It's work. But it's well worth it. Ask yourself: Where did I learn this emotional reaction? Why is this upsetting me so much? Is this my true feelings or is it something I was given by my parents, clergy, school system, social environment and so forth. Recognition is the first law of learning and transformation. When you recognize you need to change, then you're empowered to change. Until you recognize it you won't. Marilyn Monroe broke through as an actress in 1950 with small, but acclaimed roles in All About Eve and The Asphalt Jungle. She was then a mistress of Johnny Hyde, head of the William Morris Agency. Hyde negotiated a seven year contract with 20th Century Fox and then unexpectedly passed away of a heart attack. In 1951, Monroe had supporting roles in three Fox comedies: As Young as You Feel, Love Nest, and Let's Make It Legal. With her star on the rise, she received several thousand fan letters a week, and was declared "Miss Cheesecake" by the army newspaper Stars and Stripes. In early 1952 as she began a much-publicized romance with ex-Yankee Joe DiMaggio, Monroe revealed she'd posed nude in 1949, thus getting ahead of the scandal and gaining sympathy from the public. She explained she'd been broke and needed the money and was soon featured on the cover of Life magazine as the "Talk of Hollywood." Gossip columnist Hedda Hopper declared her the "cheesecake queen" turned "box office smash." Wanting to improve her acting, she studied hard with Michael Chekhov. Two of Monroe's films — Clash by Night and Don't Bother to Knock — were released soon after to capitalize on public interest. The films showed her range, as Monroe played a fish cannery worker in the former and a disturbed babysitter in the latter. In Howard Hawks's Monkey Business, she played a secretary opposite Cary Grant. In O. Henry's Full House, with Charles Laughton, she appeared in a passing vignette as a nineteenth-century street walker. Monroe added to her sex symbol reputation by wearing a revealing dress when acting as Grand Marshal at the Miss America Pageant parade, and told gossip columnist Earl Wilson that she usually wore no underwear. By the end of the year, gossip columnist Florabel Muir named Monroe the "it girl" of 1952. When Niagara was released in January 1953, women's clubs protested it as immoral. In some scenes, Monroe's body was covered only by a sheet or a towel, considered shocking by contemporary audiences. The film's most famous scene is a long shot of Monroe from behind walking with hips swaying. Audiences turned out in droves. The next month, Marilyn Monroe was the guest of Dean and Jerry's February 24th, 1953 episode.

We've all heard, “You are what you eat.” But what about, “You FEEL what you eat”? Put another way, how much of Americans' struggle with depression and anxiety is due to our diet? To tackle this question, I've invited Functional Medicine Health Coach Amanda Jones to the program. In our conversation, Amanda and I take issue with the Standard American Diet and Western Medicine's conventional approach. Specifically, we ask: Is minimizing symptoms and slowing down disease progression the best we can do? Why do we look for sustainability and root causes in various social and environmental domains, but when it comes to healthcare, we still just treat symptoms instead of discovering the origins of a problem? Why don't we pay enough attention to drugs' side effects? Are uncomfortable and painful symptoms actually a gift? What if a runny nose and high fever are an indication our body is healing itself and our immune system is working well? Can we really expect to heal if we make no changes to our diet and lifestyle? What is the impact of diet on emotional well-being and mental health? Join us to learn how nutrition and lifestyle will level up your emotional well-being!
