http://www.attractionchecklist.com - This episode we visit Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom to ride Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin! Recorded on October 29, 2016. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. We joined up with Star Command back in episode #107 when we rode Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters and now it’s time to reenlist as we ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The guide map describe Space Ranger Spin by saying: Fire lasers to defeat Zurg in this shooting gallery-inspired game. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes this as a Spinning, Slow Ride. FastPass+ is available for this attraction. Before we ride, here are five fast facts about Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. 1. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin officially opened in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland on November 3, 1998. 2. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin replaced the Dreamflight attraction. A few small pieces of Dreamflight remain. The hyperspace tunnel is original and two chickens from Dreamflight got an alien makeover and can still be spotted in one of the attraction’s scenes. 3. Frank Welker provides the voice of Emperor Zurg in this attraction and Pat Fraley voices our hero, Buzz Lightyear. 4. If you look closely at the batteries featured throughout the ride, the batteries, Zurg is trying to steal, you’ll notice they say Made In Glendale on them. A nod to Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, CA. 5. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority’s Peoplemover passes right through the Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin building and if you take a break from your laser blasting and look up you might just see it pass by! Let’s go for a ride on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin! After the ride audio, I’ll give you my thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Magic Kingdom. Can you believe we're at Episode 38 already!! I was trying to decide whether we should go to 40 or 50 for Season 1! Haha! I ultimately decided on capping the first season at 40 episodes, so just 2 more to go after this one! We will then take a short break and Season 2 will start in January 2021!! My Special Guest today is Bev Standing! Bev is an extremely talented voice actress, a Territory Controller for Canada with “Gravy for the Brain” and she has a great FB group called “#watercooler voiceover chat.” Having spent a number of years in the CBC studios as a production assistant in Radio Drama, Bev has gained the experience that has taught her to respect the importance of professionalism and timing. Add to that nine years in marketing just to round it off. Some of her training includes VoiceWorx, Second City (Toronto), Pirate Radio, Impatient Theatre (Toronto), and the Toronto Academy of Acting. She has also trained with Pat Fraley, Joan Baker, Mary-Lynn Wisner, Cristina Milizia, Tracey Hoyt, Everett Oliver, J.Michael Collins (just to name a few) as well as numerous courses and workshops with such greats as Susan Hart, Kim Hurdon and Jessie Thomson. I had the chance to take an improv class with Bev at VO North in Toronto in 2019 and it was SUCH a great session. Bev is knowledgeable, funny and so kind. You won't want to miss this great interview! Voice Acting Tutorial - ExpressivenessExpressiveness Definition - the quality of effectively conveying a thought or feeling.Being able to effectively express an idea or emotion is the hallmark of a good voice actor. And the way to do that is by using emphasis. Emphasis Definition - special importance, value, or prominence given to something. If you would like to learn more about joining the Fiverr Elite Group, check out the link here. I posted the definitions because I believe that it is important to be able to define what we do. We must know the rules and how speech can move us and push us towards actions that we would not normally take before we heard it. This is our job as the "Voice Talent" and in this episode, I dive into the 8 means of emphasis. I originally got this idea from Pat Fraley, and an awesome audiobook narrator and coach. As a performer, Pat is well known for creating and performing the evil, bodiless “Krang” on the original “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” animated TV series. Pat has created voices for over 4,000 characters; placing him in the top ten of all time to be cast in animated TV shows. His performances and projects across all entertainment mediums have garnered him awards and nominations for Emmys, Annies, Cleos, and Audies. As a teacher, Patrick is the architect of voice over instruction. Over the past 45 years, he has guided more performers into meaningful voice over careers than anyone in the history of VO Instruction. Patrick began his career in Australia in 1974. After receiving his Master of Fine Arts degree in acting from Cornell University, Patrick moved “down under” where he performed the classics as a member of The South Australian Theatre Company, appeared in Peter Weir’s movie, “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” and toured the outback with his own theatre company. While living in Australia he learned the skill of creating, performing, and teaching voice over. His first job teaching was at Flinders University as a Vocal Dynamics Tutor. It is during that time that Patrick broke down the character voice to its elements, making him the first in the world to deconstruct the character voice, making it teachable to all. When he returned to the U.S., he began his long career creating characters for animation at Hanna Barbara in Los Angeles.

In the history of teaching acting, there are legends whose skills revolutionized the craft and continue to shape the education of great actors to this very day. Legends like, Konstantin Stanislavski, Lee Strasberg, Sandy Meisner, Stella Adler, Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen come easily to mind. Then there is the chapter on voice acting, where you can add Patrick Fraley’s name to this venerable list. As his students, some of whom have become excellent teachers, and others who have become voiceover superstars, begin to share their stories about Pat, history, in its infinite humility, will embrace his contribution as the Fraley Technique. They will happily announce that they learned under his tutelage or that they went to a school where his technique was taught. Fortunately, Pat Fraley is still sharing his wisdom across the country, mounting personalized master classes in voicing commercials, TV and movie narration, promos, animation, audiobooks, and most every other genre in the voiceover sphere. You don’t enter the world of voice acting without hearing his name and a few anecdotes, but history will prove that you missed out on something very special, if you never got to sit in his classroom and feel the sensation of your whole being blossoming like a flower. Patrick Howard Fraley is a true master teacher and an indispensable resource to the industry.
