Pufnstuf (also known as Pufnstuf Zaps the World) is a 1970 American comedy fantasy musical film produced by Sid and Marty Krofft Enterprises and released by Universal Pictures. It is based on the children's television series H.R. Pufnstuf, a show that features a cast of puppets on a "living island."   The NeverEnding Story is a 1984 fantasy film co-written and directed by Wolfgang Petersen (in his first English-language film), and based on the 1979 novel The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. It was produced by Bernd Eichinger and Dieter Giessler, and stars Noah Hathaway, Barret Oliver, Tami Stronach, Patricia Hayes, Sydney Bromley, Gerald McRaney and Moses Gunn, with Alan Oppenheimer providing the voices of Falkor and Gmork (as well as other characters). It follows a boy who finds a magical book that tells of a young warrior who is given the task of stopping the Nothing, a dark force, from engulfing the wonderland world of Fantasia.   At the time of its release, it was the most expensive film produced outside the United States or the Soviet Union. It was the first in The NeverEnding Story film series. It adapts only the first half of the book, and consequently does not convey the message of the title as it was portrayed in the novel. The second half of the book was subsequently used as a rough basis for the second film, The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter (1990). But once again, cutting corners leads to an underwhelming result. So they pick up the pieces and revamp the toy line as the ‘90s begin... We look at the Netflix She-Ra series along with our expectations for an animated series. We also discuss the online poll to have Alan Oppenheimer to voice Skeletor in the new series. I know I say this a lot, but this one was a real thrill for me. This week, my conversation with Skeletor himself: the one and only Alan Oppenheimer! If Alan's career only included his work on He-Man and She-Ra (where he also played Man-at-Arms, Cringer/Battle Cat, and Mer-Man) and The Neverending Story (Falkor, G'Mork), his reputation as a legend would've been secure. But he was involved with so much else. If you grew up in the 80s and watched any cartoons, odds are you heard his voice more than you know. He had regular roles on The Smurfs (he was Vanity Smurf), Transformers, Wuzzles, The Original Ghostbusters, Centurions, Rambo, Bionic Six, BraveStarr, and so many more. On this episode, we chat about his early career, The Neverending Story, a soup-to-nuts discussion of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and that show's enduring legacy.

Bob and I play a game of connect the dots between Westworld, The Terminator, Blade Runner and Austin Powers. Wait, what? Austin Powers! Yes! Austin Powers? Just wait for it, you'll understand. Released in 1973 by MGM, written and directed by Michael Crichton, and starting Yul Brynner, Richard Benjaman, James Brolin, Alan Oppenheimer, Dick Van Patten, and Linda Gaye Scott, "Westworld" is in many ways the forerunner to the modern "machines take over the world and wipeout all humankind" thriller. There are many original ideas contained in the film and some derivative ideas (see notes below). Overall we like it, but we have some issues with it as well.
