The episode discusses the concept of Minimum Viable Continuous Delivery (Minimum CD), which represents a counter-movement to heavyweight frameworks like SAFe. The hosts explore how Minimum CD provides a set of essential practices for successfully building software-based products without unnecessary complexity. The approach focuses on core principles rather than rigid frameworks, making it particularly relevant for embedded systems development. The discussion covers the fundamental requirements for continuous delivery, including automated testing, pipeline-driven deployments, and trunk-based development. The hosts emphasize that while these practices may seem challenging for embedded systems, they become increasingly important as devices become more sophisticated and connected.A key theme throughout the episode is the importance of building trust in the development process through automation, consistent practices, and cultural commitment. The hosts stress that while some practices may seem difficult to implement in embedded systems, the more challenging they are, the more valuable they become when successfully implemented.Timestamps and Topics:00:00:00 - Introduction and overview of Minimum CD00:02:00 - Discussion of Minimum CD as counter-movement to complex frameworks00:03:45 - Continuous Integration fundamentals00:15:35 - Pipeline as the only way to deploy00:27:00 - Production-like test environments00:29:45 - Rollback capabilities for connected devices00:32:25 - Configuration deployment with artifacts00:34:50 - Trunk-based development principles00:39:30 - Automated testing requirements00:41:10 - Maintaining delivered work integrity00:45:55 - Wrap-up and closing thoughtsShownotes:Link to minimumcd.org: https://minimumcd.org/ Reference to Brian Finster as instigator of Minimum CD Reference to Raymond Chen's blog about Windows backward compatibility Reference to previous episode on trunk-based development Reference to interviews with Philip Johnston from Embedded Artistry Reference to interview with Francois from Mend Fault Link to Agile Embedded Slack group You can find Jeff at https://jeffgable.com.You can find Luca at https://luca.engineer.Want to join the agile Embedded Slack? It's been a week of reflection, and so we brought quiet contemplation to the Red Lion pub this week. With the death of Nigel Lawson earlier this week reminding Tories of a time when the Government was bold about tax cuts, Sir John Redwood MP joins Christopher Hope to talk about what the current crop of Conservatives can learn from the late former Chancellor. And as we mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday agreement, veteran Telegraph journalist Philip Johnston reflects on that seismic moment and how its ripples continue now. Plus legendary Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave tells Chopper why he's encouraging men to get their hormone levels checked, and how he believes there should be a men's health minister. Ahead of finally finding out who the next Prime Minister will be, writer Matt Ridley joins Christopher Hope to give his 10 rules for the next Tory leader to live by, and, given the winter we have coming ahead, we're sure either Sunak or Truss would appreciate a how-to-guide. Matt warns Chopper about the dangers of 'crony capitalists' and people who claim to be able to predict the future, and hopes the next Prime Minister can learn a valuable lesson from lightbulbs. Also on the podcast, the Telegraph's chief leader writer, Philip Johnston, delves into history (yes, the '90s now count as history, listeners) to illustrate why he thinks Keir Starmer is more Kinnock than Blair. How to be PM: ten rules for the next Tory leader to live by, by Matt Ridley |Labour heading for certain victory? For this episode of the eTech podcast Ryan speaks to Philip Johnston, CEO of Trackwise PLC. Trackwise is a specialist UK based manufacturer of printed circuit boards. Printed circuit boards are a key component in all electronic equipment but it is a technology that has often been overlooked or undervalued. Much of the UK's PCB manufacturing has moved offshore however Trackwise has kept UK based manufacturing by innovating new products and manufacturing technology. First of all they developed large format PCB manufacturing processes and this found them success in markets such as antenna arrays for communications systems. They then developed large format flexible circuit manufacturing, and by flexible they mean it can bend and flex rather than quickly adapt to a change! So these large flexible circuits are finding more applications replacing wiring harnesses in aerospace and automotive. More recently Phillip and his team have been working with a key customer to improve battery module design by implementing flex circuits to replace the internal harness in the battery pack which interconnects the cells and BMS.To find out more listen to this great episode!Trackwise corporate website - https://www.trackwise.co.uk/Philip Johnston LinkedIn profile -https://www.linkedin.com/in/philip-johnston-66a5471/Ryan Maughan LinkedIn profile – https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-maughan-a2893610/eTech website – https://www.etech49.comFollow eTech49 on social media:LinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/company/etech49-limitedTwitter – https://twitter.com/acexryan

It's Tory Conference week and Liam Halligan is camped out in Manchester, surviving on stale sandwiches and a hotel minibar, to give Allison Pearson the inside track on the party's movers and shakers. The PM's speech may have brought the laughs but both our hosts were left wanting more: no policy announcements, barely a mention of the pandemic, and ‘gaping holes' in his arguments. The full broadcast of Boston Public Radio from Monday, July 16th, 2018. We took on the Putin-Trump press conference in Helsinki and other political headlines with Jessica Tocco, senior vice president at Rasky Partners, and Philip Johnston, president and CEO of Johnston Associates and former chairman of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. Despite the Russia indictments, nothing has gotten in the way of the Trump and Putin powwow. Washington Post columnist and Tufts Fletcher School professor Daniel Drezner joins us for that and more. At the Republican State Convention three months ago, Governor Charlie Baker told delegates that he backs the death penalty for people who kill police officers. The fatal shooting of a Weymouth police officer and a bystander yesterday opened that debate once again: should Massachusetts reinstate capital punishment for people who kill cops? We opened the lines to ask you. TV authority Bob Thompson joined us for his take on the Emmy nominations, Sacha Baron Cohen’s return to TV and more. In another installment of All Revved Up, Reverends Irene Monroe and Emmett G. Price III join us to take on the moral dilemmas of the day, including the reopening of the Emmett Till case. Then, it's another edition of Village Voice, where we discuss poetry and how it can help us to better understand our lives and our times, with presidential inaugural poet Richard Blanco. We opened up the lines one more time to ask you about the latest in the state trooper scandal.

Heinäkuussa vuonna 1982 Yhdysvaltain presidentti Ronald Reagan antoi ilmoituksen numero 4954, jonka mukaan elokuun 14. julistettiin Yhdysvalloissa erityiseksi juhlapäiväksi nimeltään Navaho Code Talker Day, Navajo-koodinpuhujien päivä. Perusteluissa Reagan mainitsi navajokoodin roolin USA:n sotaponnistusten edistämisessä toisen maailmansodan aikana. Tuolloin Tyynenmeren rintamalla Yhdysvaltain sotatoimia häiritsi salakirjoitusjärjestelmän SIGABA:n hitaus. Simon Singh kertoo mainiossa Koodikirjassaan, miten losangelesilainen insinööri Philip Johnston alkoi miettiä parannusta ongelmaan. Johnston vakuutti armeijan viskaalit idean hyvyydestä puhumalla muutaman lauseen navajoa. Hanke käynnistettiin. Ensin piti kuitenkin tutkia, oliko navajo paras intiaanikielistä tarkoitukseen. Toimittajana Pasi Heikura. Kuva: The Miriam and Ira D.
