Welcome to Paranormal Spectrum, where we illuminate the enigmatic corners of the supernatural world. I'm your host, Barnaby Jones, and today we have a very special guest joining us:What originally started out as a group of friends excited about trying their hand at paranormal investigating in early 2021, led to what Phantasm Paranormal has become today. The passion and excitement that came from this curiosity of the unexplained is the reason that Aaron and Mike Welter officially founded Phantasm Paranormal as a team on 9/23/21. We are now entering our 4th season as an official team and going strong! Phantasm currently has 8 team members. We are based out of Oshkosh, WI but our team members are throughout Wisconsin from Appleton to Green Lake to Milwaukee. We are also open to new members if the fit is right! Our Phantasm team members all have a lot of love and passion for what we do. Paranormal investigating is only part of who we are though. We LOVE to help locations and other teams where we can and spread paraunity as much as possible. We are passionate about saving locations and supporting the spirits that reside in them. One aspect that we really have been working on heavily is teaching the paranormal to new investigators who might be interested in trying it themselves. We are also working more on hosting events where people have the opportunity to spend the night investigating with our team and are even able to use our paranormal equipment during the night to aid in their investigation. We love what we do and we love to see others experience it themselves! We are open to doing what we can to support the paranormal community. Collaborations, paranormal tours/events, guide work, etc...We would love to work with you! We have a lot of fun things coming in 2025.Follow us on social media for more information!!https://www.facebook.com/groups/674805537191940Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/@PhantasmparanormalwisClick that play button, and let's unravel the mysteries of the UNTOLD! Ruth was born in Paris, France, in the 1960's, to parents who were in the armed forces and were stationed there. For most of her career, she has been a Civil Servant, working predominantly investigating theft and fraud and latterly harassment, bullying and discrimination. She is also an accredited and very experienced Workplace Mediator. She has a fascination for the paranormal which has lasted a lifetime - and read extensively on the subject looking for answers after living in two seriously haunted houses with poltergeist activity in her formative years. Her investigative mind means she is fascinated by the endless possible answers to the questions posed by people experiencing phenomena, and dreamed for years of writing her own books on the subject. When she partially retired in 2016, she found the time to start writing, and has so far produced three works on the subject - The Ghosts of Marston Vale January 2017, The Almanac of British Ghosts December 2017 and The Roadmap of British Ghosts January 2019. By interviewing witnesses herself, she hopes to add to the data available so that someone, somewhere, one day, will be able to answer the question - "Do ghosts exist? Mental Asylum in Georgia, It Was the World's Largest Mental Hospital. Haunted Or Not? A truly creepy and scary place. When it was first opened it was known as the Georgia Lunatic Asylum. Back in 1837 Georgia lawmakers authorized a “Lunatic, Idiot, and Epileptic Asylum.” And it was built and opened in 1842. The first "patient" arrived in December 1842. They reported that he died of “maniacal exhaustion” shortly thereafter. Located in Milledgeville Georgia, on approximately 2,000-acres. The property still echoes "with the memory of the patients who were treated and mistreated at Georgia's state asylum". The Asylum is mostly empty and in much need of repair. The old asylum is not reported to be open to the public. There is a new section in operation called the Central State Hospital. According to OnlyInYourState.com, "This spooky asylum is one of the creepiest places in Georgia and has so much history behind it." Be sure to Like the Show's Facebook Page. The Most Haunted Location in America? Gettysburg, Pa - Part 2: Jennie Wade and the Dobbin House. Is Gettysburg Pennsylvania, the Most Haunted Location in America? Join us for a discussion about Jennie Wade and The Jennie Wade House, Plus the Dobbin House Tavern. Are they Haunted or Not. Are they hauntings or not? Jennie Wade was reported to be the only civilian to be killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. Did the moving of her grave lead to her reported ghostly sightings? Plus, Plus the Dobbin House Tavern. Reverend Alexander Dobbin and his wife Isabella Gamble immigrated to America and settled in what is now Gettysburg. In 1774 they commenced construction of a farm and the Dobbin House, for use as their dwelling and as a Classical School, today's equivalent of a combined theological seminary and liberal arts college. The Dobbin house was reported to be a slave hideout and part of the "Underground Railroad". It was used for hiding runaway slaves on their perilous journey to freedom on the "Underground Railroad." After the battle it served as a hospital for wounded soldiers of both the North and the South. As a result it is said to be haunted with numerous reports of ghostly sightings. Chapter 11 - Aboard the Hogwarts ExpressQ1 - How do you like the name Mad-Eye?Mrs Weasley took a piece of buttered toast from a stack on the kitchen table, put it into the fire tongs and transferred it into Mr Diggory's mouth.Q2 - have you guys ever had a mountain pie?“Your father thinks very highly of Mad-Eye Moody,” said Mrs Weasley sternly. “Yeah, well Dad collects plugs, doesn't he?” said Fred quietly, as Mrs Weasley left the room. “Birds of a feather.”Q3 - Which is your favorite Weasley?Q4 - What is your favorite part of the books?Q5 - You don't know a ton about Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, but which would you rather go to?“But Hogwarts is hidden,” said Hermione, in surprise, “Everyone who's read Hogwarts: A History, anyway.” “Just you, then,” said Ron. “If a Muggle looks at it, all they see is a moldering old ruin with a sign over the entrance saying DANGER, DO NOT ENTER, UNSAFE.”Q6 - Is this sign keeping you out?Q7 - What do you think of the summoning charm?Q8 - Would you wear Ron's robes?Chapter 12 - The Triwizard TournamentQ1 - Do you like Peeves?Q2 - What's the best prank you ever pulled?“Now slip me snug around your ears, I've never yet been wrong, I'll have a look inside your mind and tell you where you belong!”Q3 - Thoughts on Dennis Creevey?“There are house-elves here?” she said….”Certainly,” said Nearly Headless Nick, looking surprised at her reaction. “The largest number in any dwelling in Britain, I believe. Over a hundred.”Q4 - What are your thoughts on Hogwarts having house elves?A man stood in the doorway, leaning upon a long staff, shrouded in a black traveling cloak. Every head in the Great Hall swiveled toward the stranger, suddenly brightly illuminated by a fork of lightning that flashed across the ceiling. He lowered his hood, shook out a long mane of grizzled, dark gray hair, then began to walk up toward the teachers' table. A dull clunk echoed through the Hall on his every other step. He reached the end of the top table, turned right, and limped heavily toward Dumbledore. Another flash of lightning crossed the ceiling. Hermione gasped. The lightning had thrown the man's face into sharp relief, and it was a face unlike any Harry had ever seen. It looked as though it had been carved out of weathered wood by someone who had only the vaguest idea of what human faces are supposed to look like, and was none too skilled with a chisel. Every inch of skin seemed to be scarred. The mouth looked like a diagonal gash, and a large chunk of the nose was missing. But it was the man's eyes that made him frightening. One of them was small, dark, and beady. The other was large, round as a coin, and a vivid, electric blue. The blue eye was moving ceaselessly, without blinking, and was rolling up, down, and from side to side, quite independently of the normal eye - and then it rolled right over, pointing into the back of the man's head, so that all they could see was whiteness.Q5 - Is this her best description of someone that she's given so far?“It is my pleasure to inform you that the Triwizard tournament will be taking place at Hogwarts this year.” “You're joking!” said Fred Weasley loudly. The tension that had filled the hall every since Moody's arrival suddenly broke. Nearly everyone laughed, and Dumbledore chuckled appreciatively. “I am not joking, Mr Weasley.” he said, “though, now that you mention is, I did hear an excellent one over the summer about a troll, a hag, and a leprechaun who all go into a bar —” Professor McGonagall cleared her throat loudly.Q6 - What are your thoughts on the Triwizard Tournament and what do you think they'll have to do in it?Q7 - Neville falls through a trap step…why does Hogwarts have these?

This week we dive into tales of ghost ships from folklore and legends and real life history. Some of these ships have been found simply abandoned and there crews were never seen again, others have been discovered with their crews dead and still manning their stations, others are timeless legends of spectral vessels that have been seen through the ages. Pack your speedo and arm floaties for this one.
SCARED TO DEATH IS EXPLICIT IN EVERY WAY. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHILE LISTENING.The first of Dan's stories this week is the more documented of the two. Dan will be taking everyone to the late 1930s, and to the Greater London area of England, to examine the haunting of Alma Fielding. In 1938, Alma Fielding, a 34-year-old housewife in Thornton Heath, a southern suburb of London, went to the press complaining of a poltergeist having invaded her home. Many, many people witnessed intense paranormal activity centered around Alma. The second story is the tale of a 19th century South Carolina woman who seems to have suffered an incredibly tragic death when she was accidentally buried alive. Does the ghost of Julia Legare still haunt her family's tomb on Edisto Island, South Carolina? Lynze's portion of the show is made up of four small stories: a skin walker, a ghost, a self driving school bus and the woman in the mirror! Enjoy! New Merch: Super cool new Swamp Monster tee in the merch store this week. It features a rather large hairy beast with red eyes, lurking in the dark forest shadows, a very dark and moody depiction. Will Dodson and Kristopher Woofter, co-editors of American Twilight: The Cinema of Tobe Hooper join me to talk about Texas, chainsaws, massacres and the career of TCM director Tobe Hooper. The far-reaching conversation touches on politics, film techniques, history and the disputed authorship of the Hooper directed/Steven Spielberg produced blockbuster Poltergeist. Learn more about their excellent book at its University of Texas Press page (https://utpress.utexas.edu/books/woofter-dodson-american-twilight) and check out Woofter's horror research hub The Hauntologist (https://www.thehauntologist.com/). The original TCM is streaming on Shudder here (https://www.shudder.com/movies/watch/the-texas-chain-saw-massacre/425866499d2b1164). The Tobe Hooper-directed Peter, Paul & Mary Doc is here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDa2718k15o). Hooper's early short film The Heisters is here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3qpHOwAb2I) I believe that this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmyaT8OSXh4) is the Hooper/Funhouse interview Kris mentioned. Evidentally Hooper's name is pronounced "Toby" and I look like a total idiot in front of these two eminent horror movie scholars.
I give a small explaination as to why i FAILED at recording last week, and then we dive into what familiar spirits are, and the Hoffman Poltergiest.
In this episode of “The Creature Files,” author Todd Calgi Gallicano and his co-hosts discuss a sighting of the yowie in the Australian outback, then turn their attention to the intersection of folklore and the paranormal. Hang on...It's time to go tumbling down the proverbial rabbit hole!
Jo and Jonny discuss the Enfield haunting.
