Remember when trading meant calling your broker and waiting an hour just to find out if your order was filled? That world is gone.JJ Kinahan, CEO of IG North America (parent company of Tasty Trade), shares how the playing field has fundamentally changed for retail traders. With 21 years of experience trading on the Chicago Board Options Exchange and leadership roles at major brokerages, JJ offers rare insight into this transformation.Today's retail traders wield professional-grade tools, instant executions, and information flows that rival institutional capabilities. The most dramatic shift? Options trading is no longer exclusive to professionals. As JJ explains, "Options are giant probabilities" that can be used strategically when traders understand the risks involved. The conversation explores a fascinating retail trading psychology: during market uncertainty (like the recent "tariff tantrum"), traders initially flock to broad ETFs like SPDR and QQQ, gradually returning to individual stocks as confidence rebuilds—starting predictably with Microsoft and Meta. This behavioral pattern offers valuable signals about market sentiment that even professionals watch closely. For new traders, JJ's advice is refreshingly straightforward: start with one contract, know your personal risk tolerance, and understand why you're entering each trade. "The easiest thing in the world is to risk more money. The hardest thing is to risk a lot, lose it, and then get into a bad cycle where you feel you have to make it back."Looking ahead, the trading landscape continues evolving toward 24/7 access, with Tasty Trade launching 24-5 equity trading by June. This shift reflects growing global interest in US markets and the expectation that investors should be able to react to news in real-time, regardless of time zone.Ready to level up your trading knowledge? Welcome to another insightful clip of Market Mondays! In this clip, our hosts Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, along with Ian Dunlap, delve into two crucial topics for investors: the most promising healthcare stocks and Amazon's potential to cross the $200 mark.*Healthcare Stocks:*The healthcare sector is a major component of the economy, offering numerous investment opportunities. Ian Dunlap shares his top recommendations:1. **Eli Lilly**: Known for its robust management and innovative drug development, Eli Lilly stands out as a top pick.2. **Novo Nordisk**: Another strong player in the pharmaceutical space, Novo Nordisk holds significant potential.3. **Amgen**: A notable contender in the biotech industry.4. **Stryker**: Often overlooked but highly commendable for its consistent performance.5. **Vertex Pharmaceuticals**: A dark horse in the industry, worth considering at the right price.6. **Thermo Fisher Scientific**: Highlighted by Troy Millings, this company has an impressive chart and a crucial role in drug production and distribution.*Investment Strategies:*For those looking for a diversified approach, Troy emphasizes the SPDR fund XLV and its Vanguard counterpart as excellent options. Regularly checking the allocations in these funds helps investors stay informed about top-performing healthcare stocks.*Amazon's Potential:*Discussing Amazon, Ian and Troy analyze the company's prospects of breaking the $200 mark. While Ian predicts Amazon reaching this milestone in 2025, Troy is more optimistic about hitting it sooner, possibly by Q1 2025. Factors influencing their views include:1. Amazon's market dominance and lack of significant competition.2. Challenges from competitors like Alibaba, Walmart, and emerging threats from Meta's e-commerce ambitions with Instagram and TikTok.3. The future of Amazon Web Services (AWS) amid increasing competition from Microsoft and Google.Join us as we dissect these critical investment opportunities, sharing valuable insights and strategies to help you navigate the ever-changing market landscape.*Time Stamps:*0:00 – Introduction0:08 – Top Healthcare Stocks to Invest In1:00 – Ian's Top Picks: Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, and Amgen2:20 – Troy's Addition: Thermo Fisher Scientific3:00 – Diversification with SPDR Fund XLV4:10 – Amazon's Growth Prospects5:50 – Competition Analysis: Alibaba, Walmart, Meta's E-commerce Strategy7:00 – AWS and the Future of Cloud ServicesDon't forget to *like, comment, and subscribe* for more market insights, and hit the notification bell so you never miss an update!*Join the Conversation:*Have thoughts or questions about today's episode?

Each week BusinessDesk and the NZ Herald's Cooking the Books podcast tackles a different money problem. Today, it's how index investing changed the game, and what's next. Hosted by Frances Cook. Now don't tell me you forgot it was our anniversary. It's a big one too: 30 years, the pearl anniversary. What's it the anniversary of? Well, I'm glad you asked. January 29 marked 30 years of the world's longest-surviving exchange-traded fund, Standard & Poor's Depository Receipt, mostly known by the acronym SPDR, or as the “spider”. It's now one of the world's largest funds. A little closer to home, March 3 this year marked 20 years since the Standard & Poors NZX50 was launched. That's the china anniversary, for those paying attention. Jokes aside, index investing has been huge for letting the little guy into the market, allowing them to invest in a wide range of companies with less effort. The rewards, without as much risk. But some things have changed over the past few decades. For the latest podcast, I talked to Tim Edwards, S&P's global head of index investment strategy. This episode brought me to tears twice! Which is a good thing because, as Dr. Sina tells us, the liver and tears and the drive to change go together! So, all of my empathetic friends --go ahead and cry. Your liver will thank you!Dr. Sina shares how her body got her attention and caused her to leave her medical career and a surgery residency with lots of debt and no clear path forward. But she trusted herself and went on to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which she loves, and now she is thriving. Dr. Sina describes her first acupuncture appointment where she found herself crying for the first time in years--and how she came to see the need for healing her whole body, mind and spirit. We also talk about the distinction of quitting a job or a profession but never quitting on yourself.Sina gives us some good advice about eating and energy as we shift from winter into spring. Learn why spring is the time of year of the Wood element in Traditional Chinese Medicine and what that means for you? Why the Liver and the Gall bladder are so important as we transition into Spring.Sina also recommends specific foods to support you as your body wakes up from the slowness of winter. “ETF of the Week” became “ETFs of the Week” as VettaFi's vice chairman Tom Lydon discussed the SPDR S&P Kensho Clean Power ETF (CNRG) and the SPDR S&P Oil & Gas Exploration & Production ETF (XOP) for a rare double header for this week's “ETF of the Week” podcast with Chuck Jaffe of “Money Life.”
VettaFi's vice chairman Tom Lydon discussed the SPDR Bloomberg 1-3 Month T-Bill ETF (BIL) on this week's “ETF of the Week” podcast with Chuck Jaffe of “Money Life.
VettaFi's vice chairman Tom Lydon discussed the Utilities Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLU) on this week's “ETF of the Week” podcast with Chuck Jaffe of “Money Life.”
VettaFi's vice chairman Tom Lydon discussed the SPDR Portfolio S&P500 Growth ETF (SPYG) on this week's “ETF of the Week” podcast with Chuck Jaffe of “Money Life.” Growth stocks have rallied recently while value has lagged since mid-June. Advisors are increasingly expressing optimism in the space as well: Bank of America reported that its the first time since August 2020 that fund managers are anticipating growth to outperform value, with 88% expecting inflation in the U.S. will decline in the next 12 months. These perspectives have caused a rotation away from more defensive positions and back to sectors such as technology, energy, banks, and more, particularly given the recession risk outlook and value's historic outperformance exiting a recession versus entering one. SPYG is a low-cost ETF that offers exposure to some of the strongest growth stocks within the S&P 500.
ETF Trends' CEO Tom Lydon discusses the SPDR S&P 500 Dividend ETF (SDY) on this week's ETF of the Week podcast with Chuck Jaffe of the MoneyLife Show. As stock markets plunge after the Fed announcement of a 0.50% interest rate increase and balance sheet tightening in June, investors continue to seek out steady-paying dividend ETF strategies. Analysts believe that income-generating securities are becoming one of the new safe havens as growth and tech stocks continue to fall. SDY provides a potential hedge against inflation by investing in companies that have increased their dividends for the past 20 consecutive years.
ETF Trends' CEO Tom Lydon discusses the SPDR S&P Oil and Gas Exploration and Production ETF (XOP) on this week's ETF of the Week podcast with Chuck Jaffe of the MoneyLife Show. The Russia/Ukraine war have caused market volatility and concerns around the global supply of oil and natural gas. Russia makes up up for 10% of crude oil supply and banking sanctions have meant that the vast majority of it cannot be touched. Increasing energy prices equate to increasing demands on energy companies to increase both drilling and the number of oil wells they have. XOP provides exposure to oil and gas production and exploration.

ETF Trends' CEO Tom Lydon discusses the SPDR Blackstone Senior Loan ETF (SRLN) on this week's ETF of the Week podcast with Chuck Jaffe on the MoneyLife Show. SRLN is an alternative fixed-income idea that can potentially help diversify a more traditional portfolio as well as enhace the possible yield generation while defending against rising interest rates. Senior loans historically have performed better with greater income and less volatility compared to other fixed income asset classes.
Každá z nich má své výhody a nevýhody. Liší se zejména v poplatcích. Přehledné srovnání najdete v tomto článku.„Každému člověku do 30 let doporučuju, stáhněte si pro začátek jakoukoli z velkých aplikací,“ vzkazuje Vávra nejmladším investorům.Lidi ve středním věku se stabilním příjmem, kteří jsou schopní dávat stranou 5000 korun měsíčně, posílá Vávra pro pasivní podílový fond, který investuje pouze do indexu S&P 500, do specializované investiční společnosti, ideálně pod křídly banky.„Jen pozor, motivace prodejců je prodat, kde mám největší provizi. U pasivních fondů je poplatek 0,04 %, což má třeba Vanguard i v kamenné bance. Proto ti ho občas nechtějí prodat. Takže bouchat pěstičkou do pultu, dupat nožičkou a říkat: Já to chci,“ radí Vávra.Nejvyšší servis, ale také poplatky (třeba sedm dolarů za transakci) nabízí brokeři. „Pokud jste zabezpečený padesátník, jste ideální úlovek pro velkou brokerskou firmu, kde vás to s nimi bude bavit a vyděláte pěkné peníze,“ uzavírá Vávra.
