Arian shares how he taught and what he learned as a global pandemic hit close to home.Arian White is a third generation educator and Los Angeles Native.  Eager to see the best of what education had to offer around the globe, Arian spent the summer of 2009 at the Chinju National University of Education teaching English to elementary and middle school students in South Korea.  After becoming aware of the academic rigor and prestige of International schools, in 2013 he spent two years teaching elementary school at the prestigious Cap Cana Heritage School in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The Cap Cana Heritage School is consistently ranked as one of the top 5 educational institutions in the country. While in the Dominican Republic, he was also a Professor of English at Universidad Iberoamericano.                  When Arian wasn't spending his summers overseas, he worked at various Summer Camps, including working as a counselor at UCLA's Summer Camp at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center.  In 2010, before STEM and STEAM were educational catchphrases, Arian worked at Destination Science helping students learn about science through play.  By the end of his time there, he was the site manager overseeing the daily operations, programs, and personnel for their Beverly Hills site.     Most recently, he teaches at a predominantly African American public school in Los Angeles where he hopes to help close The Achievement Gap and share some of the best practices he's learned around the world with his community.  Because of his abilities as an effective instructor in his first year with the district, he was awarded the "2018 Los Angeles Unified School District Rookie of the Year Award" in a district of roughly 900 schools.  Currently, he also runs a Pan-African STEAM camp called Camp Sankofa. Arian earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his Master's degree from the University of Southern California. Are you ready to get UnstuckAF? Join us for our virtual conference, Wanna Be Startin Somethin: Visit WeAlign, our online community, and learn more about the Align Approach that leads the overwhelmed to overcome. Or find us on social media: Instagram, Facebook, Tik TokAs mentioned: Johnathan Livingston Seagull a story by Richard Bach

For this sixth episode of our third season,  the description comes from our guest, Linda McLachlan. Linda is a coach, a consultant, a podcaster, and one of the reasons UnstuckAF exists, as Coach Orlando shares in this conversation. These are Linda's thoughts on her podcasting journey:Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.~ T. RooseveltI started my podcasting journey (my first Akimbo workshop in 2020) with a knapsack full of ‘should' and ‘needs'.I should know what I want to say, I should be ready to say it, I should already know a lot about podcasts and I need a microphone, I need a better laptop, I need more gear…Looking at that list now, I know this was a way of hiding behind my ‘lack' and ‘not good enough'. That belief that something outside myself would give me the ability to do and share with the world what was/ is already inside of me. Curiosity, perseverance, life experiences uniquely my own and a deep desire to speak, listen and learn from others.Did those other things come along the way? The knowing how /what I want to say and to whom? The gear? yes, bit by bit. But not before a gradual acceptance of my ability to share myself through speaking aloud, into a recording device and hitting publish. Our right, our ability and self-belief that we have something of value to share.  Maybe it's not always unique but it's of this time.  It's for the eyes, ears and hearts of those our work will reach. The light in the darkness, the laughter through sadness.Strike the match.Join Align Performance's online community: WeAlignAlso, connect with us on social media:InstagramLinkedInTikTokFacebook And to learn more about how we do what we do and how we do it, visit our site.

Kareem Cook is a founder and Managing Director at Towerview Capital Management (TCM), a private equity firm specializing in leveraged buyouts of middle-market companies focused on preventative medicine, healthier products, and healthier lifestyles. Having acquired Naturade in 2012, a leading nutraceutical company that sells vitamins and supplements, he has assumed the position of Chief Marketing Officer within the company. Influenced by obesity, diabetes and heart disease in their own families, Kareem and co-owner Claude Tellis have repositioned Naturade to address the diet related illnesses epidemic in underserved communities by providing “Whole Foods quality products to a Walmart consumer.” They have been profiled in Fast Company, Forbes, Ebony, Black Enterprise and many other publications for the work they are doing to address the health crisis. Naturade's products are currently distributed in Costco, Target, Walmart and 15,000 additional stores including Whole Foods Market (Sept 2021) Prior to founding TCM, Kareem co-founded Healthy Body Products (HBP), a healthy beverage and snack distribution company based in Los Angeles. HBP was the first company to place vending machines exclusively serving healthy snacks and beverages in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). HBP was instrumental in the banning of junk food in LAUSD and later in banning the sale of junk food in the state of California. Within two years of the company's founding, HBP was awarded the contract to supply all of the high schools and middle schools in Los Angeles, totaling over 130 schools. Kareem and his partner Claude Tellis (Duke '95) were invited by President Bill Clinton and Governor Mike Huckabee to present to the Alliance for a Healthier Generation in Arkansas on HBP's story and best practices. Kareem earned his BA from Duke University in 1994 and his MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in 2000. Links: www.naturade.comhttps://wholefoodsmagazine.com/supplements/news-supplements/naturade-on-a-mission-with-magic-to-effect-change/https://wholefoodsmagazine.com/supplements/news-supplements/naturade-on-a-mission-with-magic-to-effect-change/ Instagram: @naturadelife @livevegansmart @kareemcook9
