Sometimes, it takes a life-altering moment to expose how broken certain systems really are. Being diagnosed with cancer is terrifying on its own, but when that's paired with financial exploitation and desperation, something inside you changes. You stop waiting for help and start figuring out how to build something better—something that doesn't just serve you but protects others from the same pain. It's not about inspiration; it's about necessity forcing bold action. Brandon Aversano, Founder and CEO of Alloy, turned a cancer diagnosis into a mission-driven business. Frustrated by the shady gold-selling process, he launched The Alloy Market to bring transparency and fairness to an outdated industry. With experience at JP Morgan Chase and JetBlue, he blends financial smarts with a customer-first mindset. His platform makes it easier and safer for everyday people to sell gold without getting ripped off. Brandon's story is proof that hardship can spark real innovation. Stay tuned! Stefanie opens the show by talking about being sick and watching the movie Funny People. This leads her to remember when she was younger and lived across the street from Judd Apatow and Adam Sandler. After that, the ladies discuss the new Jon Hamm Apple TV show, as well as the hazing controversy surrounding him from his college days. Before they wrap, Lynette and Stef go over a few more things they've been watching and Stefanie talks about a friend's birthday dinner she was too sick to attend. And thanks for supporting today's sponsors: Get your Alloy prescription today Visit MyAlloy.com/FCOL today for $20 off your first order! #AgeGracefullyNutrafol.com enter FCOLGIFTFollow us on all social media channels @FCOLpodcastWatch guest episodes on Youtube: Youtube.com/@FCOLpodcastJoin our Patreon page for an additional episode every week: Patreon.com/FCOL

This week Melanie and I have so many post-live show thoughts...about air travel, about the fun we had in Arkansas, and about all the basketball we've watched since we've been back at home. We also marvel at the ways our college baseball fortunes improved over the course of the weekend. On top of that, Melanie discusses the perils of losing your wallet, and it's also her turn for Five Favorites.
