What does it mean to be in the moment? In yoga practice it's about doing what you're doing while you're doing it...and noticing anything that gets in the way of your presence: stray thoughts, criticism, overthinking, anxiety, resistance, you get the idea. This backhanding practice will keep you in your body and in the moment by helping you focus, face those "extras", and feel what's going on right now...and chances are, you'll get up off that mat feeling taller, lighter, and in a better mood. Enjoy!

Hey, it's Cha Wilde, and I'm so excited to be outside with you today, feeling the sun, the breeze, and all the magic of nature while we move through this yoga session together. Introduction and Setting the Scene Today's practice is a celebration of simplicity and success. For me, success is wearing a bikini, feeling the sand between my toes, and just being able to take care of myself. Let's dive into that energy as we connect with our breath, our bodies, and the world around us. 00:01:51 - Warm-up and Vinyasa Flow Let's start by warming up with some familiar moves—Downward Dog, Cat-Cow, and leg lifts. Feel your body wake up with each inhale and exhale, and connect with the earth beneath you and the sky above. 00:13:34 - Standing Poses and Balance Now, into our standing poses: Warrior, Triangle, Tree. Let's play with balance—not just physically but mentally, too. It's okay if you wobble; balance is dynamic and constantly shifting. 00:25:09 - Backbends and Stretches Moving into some deeper stretches and backbends like Camel and Locust Pose. This is where we find that beautiful dance between effort and ease. Listen to your body, push where it feels good, and relax where you need to. 00:31:29 - Inversions and Restorative Poses Let's flip our perspective with Shoulder Stand and Plow Pose, followed by some restorative goodness—Supta Baddha Konasana and, of course, Shavasana. Find your comfort and let yourself melt into gratitude. 00:35:07 - Closing and Reflections We'll end with a moment of gratitude. Take a second to reflect on the simple pleasures and blessings that make your day brighter. For me, after this session, it's paddleboarding and preparing for a fun photo shoot. I hope you continue to enjoy your day in a way that lights you up. Namaste! ------------------------ ✨ Welcome to Cha Wilde's YouTube channel dedicated to healing. Well, this is an unusual episode!! Since I released a podcast episode last year about my group class planning process I've been getting more and more questions about my unique teaching style.  It's been described as Buddha Dharma Meets Corrective Exercise With A Little Vinyasa In The Middle For Some Fun. It's a specific style that has been cultivated over almost 20 years of very full time teaching, and I especially love the way it lands online and in an audio format.  So this episode is a short explanation, and then a full length practice! You might find it interesting to listen to even if you can't or don't want to do the physical part of the practice. Not only do they explain the alignment and differences between an updog and a cobra pose, but they also break down prone backbends, kneeling backbends, standing backbends, and supine backbends. They stress the importance of sequencing progressively and finding balance, and they encourage teachers and students to explore the many benefits of the lower range of motion backbends. Backbends can be found all over the movement world. Emily and Sean work to describe what is the best way to generalize what a backbend is, and the key is it starts with your spine ;) We start our lives in spinal flexion, and after we come into the world a new range of motion opens up to us, spinal extension, also known as lordosis or a backbend. This episode really dive deep into spinal anatomy so we can specifically talk about all the elements that can encompass a backbend. This is a recording of a live yoga class, a private 1:1 session, in which I'm guiding a woman in her 20's (she's a beginner in yoga) through a series of hatha yoga poses. She has back pain from working at a desk all day, slouching. She would like to improve her social confidence and charisma. She's been hunching over to protect herself and hide. This class was intuitively created to help her (and you) strengthen the muscles in the back of the body and gently open up the front of the body for the purpose of improving posture. This is an all levels hatha yoga class. Caution for those with back injuries -- move into these poses gently and ease off at any sign of pain or pinching. Twisting as we go along, we explore Revolved Low Lunge, Revolved Runner’s Lunge, Revolved Crescent and Revolved Pyramid. Backbends appear throughout class and allow us to use the space and suppleness that have been created in the sides of the body. Hamstring and posterior chain work weave throughout the class as well and show up as Dolphin Pose, One-Legged Dolphin, and Bridge. Our peak pose appears after we have rested back on the mat - Reclined Revolved Extended Big Toe Pose; just an offering, of course, if you wish to deepen the reclined twist. Daily Hatha Yoga This hour long daily hatha yoga routine includes the twelve most important yoga poses you should do every day. The inversions, backbends, twists, forward folds, balancing poses, side bends and resting poses in this hatha yoga class will give you the most complete yoga class for your body that will attend both to your physical well-being and health, but also calm your mind, improve your emotional and mental well-being, give you more energy and leave you feeling rested. The resting postures in this class will recharge your batteries, release tension from your body, boost your immune system, relieve fatigue and help to deepen your breathing. There are poses in this class which will help to strengthen your legs, butt and glutes. Backbends will open up your chest and counteract rounded and poor postural habits from hours of screen time. Hip openers will relieve tight hips, back pain, sciatica, are great for athletes and are great for those of us who spend long hours sitting. Throughout this class your spine is taken through the four movements of flexion, extension, lateral flexion and rotation. These movements will not only help to relieve back pain, but because the spine houses the central nervous system they are also calming and help to relieve stress and anxiety. Balancing postures are combined with core strengthening postures in this class for efficiency to support your body. Several of the poses in this class support breast tissue health by encouraging lymphatic flow through the armpits and breast tissue as well toning breast and armpit tissue. In April in our membership community we will be supporting our members in their primary aspiration of commiting to their daily yoga practice by formulating daily yoga timetables and extra support like a Daily Yoga Chart and a live class with two way video teaching our members how to use the Daily Yoga Chart. I will be releasing 5 new classes into our membership in April including: 30 Minute Daily Hatha Yoga Daily Hatha Yoga for Grounding (30 mins) Daily Hatha Yoga for Strength (30 mins) Daily Hatha Yoga for Optimal Digestion (30 mins) Daily Hatha Yoga for Breast Tissue Health (20 mins) We would love to welcome you into our community and support you in your daily yoga practice in April and beyond: Click Here

But we also answered student questions, which happened to mainly focus on backbending. Here's an overview:* We talk about the benefits of immersing yourself in yoga on retreat and how Jason thinks of it as a mini-training* Jason shares his approach to teaching Ujjayi breathing, and why he believes that fast, vinyasa flow classes have the potential to undermine the benefits of the practice* We discuss how to tell the difference between structural limitations and non-structural, changeable limitations in backbends* Tips on how to progress to more advanced backbends after you've mastered Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel Pose or Upward-Facing Bow Pose)Show notes: http://www.jasonyoga.com/podcast/episode128SHOUT-OUT TO OUR SPONSORS1. See if you can honor yourself connect to this authentic part of you and if you are not being true to your heart forgive yourself and then take action to nuture yourself. In the third chapter of the Gita there is a conversation about this and its presented as it as its better to fail at your dharma then do someone else’s - trying to become someone else takes more work and is not authentic to your heart. If you are not sure if you are being true to you then allow yourself to become quiet and see in any situation if you are being true to you, just ask and there will be a response.A Block will be used in this classSequence: Level 1 (some theraputics for lower back pain)All 4’s Hands and KneesDownward Facing DogBalasana - Child’s PoseAll 4’sOpposite Extension of LimbsDown DogPlank to Belly then Salambasana - LocustDown Dog to Uttanasana - Standing Fwd BendUrdvah Hastasana- Hands Over Head in TadasanaUttanasanaStraight Leg Lunge to Down Dog to Plank PoseCobra without Hands, Cobra - Full PoseBalasana - Child’s PoseAll 4’s to Down DogUttanasana then Come Up 1/2 Way to Urdvah HastasanaUttanasanaParsvakonasana - Extended Side AnglePlank Pose to Belly to Cobra to Down DogTrikonasana - Triangle PoseDown DogPlank Pose to Cobra on FingertipsChild’s Pose2X L-Pose at the Wall with A Block Between Thighs L-Pose to Warrior III - Vinyasa - Down Dog to Plank Pose to Cobra Pose to Down DogPigeon Prep with Hands on HipsLie on Belly for Prone Pose- (great for lower back pain)All 4’s to Down Dog to Uttanasana2X Parvatasana - Table Top Pose Supported Bridge Pose with A Block - Supine Twist - Childs PoseBaddha Konasana - Bound AngleSupta PadangustasanaKnees to ChestSavasana!Being true to who you in the world on and off the mat is yoga.  Even though we all wear many masks in one day there is always a part of ourself that is constant. Podcast #17 - Karma (Action) Level 1 Class

Karma (Action) is a word some of us refer to everyday to explain a boomerang of events that happen from what we do. We may even see it when we are getting a cup of coffee/tea in the morning on the counter a "Good Karma" cup inviting up to leave a tip. I have read that most philosophical schools say that karma is action and from what we do there is a response to our choices, ramifications or reactions. But when I delved deeper, I learned about the Wheel of Karma talking about life which says that being in the body means you have more work to do that you didnt do in the last life - I did not like this at all in some way it says that life is a punishment. Today, I invite you to see how your life is a blessing and there is nothing to get out of but to go in and creatively step into your life, the world we want to live in by applying our intention with right action. I invite you to see that you did nothing wrong to be here but that the divine chose to be you and that you have the opportunity to enjoy being in this marvelous body. Tantra offered me the perspective to see that we are not stuck in a yoga that is filled with dogma of what we have to do but that we choose what we do to create our life. Contemplate about life not being a set of rules to design your outcomes but that you can find your way to discover that many opportunities to change the way you are becoming even better using right action to live more fully on and off your mat. Podcast #15 - Effort, Surrender, Self-study

The yoga of Patanjali offers us Yoga Sutras including the 8 limbs of yoga. Within these 8 limbs are the Yamas (social inter-action with others) and Niyamas (inter-action we have with ourselves). There are 5 Yamas and 5 Niyamas making them kinda like the 10 commandments of Yoga. For this class I focused on 3 of the Niyamas - Tapas (effort), Svadhyaya (self-study) , and Ishvara Pranidhana (surrender to the divine). In life we mostly do, effort and forget to feel the connection to something bigger - when we take time to reflect or study we can see where we are with both. In yoga effort is important to get to the mat keep your arms strong in down dog but to leave space to soften even surrender to this greater energy. Through self-study on and off the mat using scriptures or any books that take you deeper one can see there tendency and make a choice to see balance of these actions. Being responsible and taking care of our bills, our car, our bodies is part of yoga and action. If we ignore what we have to do then when we want to experience other delights in life there can be difficulty and even a disconnect without the foundation being cared for. Nitya karma is exactly that keeping all the ducks in a row, being accountable which the universe does all the time. Kaamya karma is where we play with what we want to do (desire) within the support of these boundaries. One is stability which offers freedom to express as the other opens us to explore the wonders of life with its duties and desires. Traditionally the definition can be read through these links: Nitya Karmas and Kaamya Karmas. How I am using these words is in relation to our everyday life outside of Hindu life which translates quite nicely. This was how I was taught by my teacher, Dr. Douglas Brooks.
