Blackjack Mulligan vs Ric Flair featured two of the biggest heels in Jim Crockett Promotions finally splitting into a blood feud. What happens when wrestling fans play fantasy booker? We unleash our creative spirits in this wrestling dream card special as WrestleMania season approaches. Each of us, along with listener Sean from Pennsylvania, crafts our ultimate WrestleMania events featuring dream matches across different wrestling eras - from the golden age through the Attitude Era to today's superstars. These aren't just random matchups but carefully considered dream confrontations that wrestling history never gave us: Sting finally facing The Undertaker, Bret Hart trading technical masterpieces with Kurt Angle, and Eddie Guerrero showcasing his craftiness against legends from multiple generations. The true magic happens when we feed these fantasy cards to AI for predictions. The results are sometimes predictable, sometimes shocking, and occasionally hilarious - particularly when the AI seems fixated on post-match handshakes between bitter rivals. We debate each outcome while sharing our wrestling knowledge and memories, from Magnum TA's career-altering accident to Andre the Giant's legendary hotel brawl with Blackjack Mulligan. Our fantasy venues span from Madison Square Garden to Wembley Stadium, with record-breaking crowds witnessing specialty matches including Hell in a Cell, buried alive confrontations, and even a tag team Elimination Chamber. Throughout it all, we celebrate what makes professional wrestling special: the storytelling, the athleticism, and those dream matchups that live in fans' imaginations.Whether you're a casual fan or a wrestling historian, this episode offers a nostalgic journey through the greatest matches that never happened - but absolutely should have.Thank you for giving us a go, and hope you stick with us as we have some really amazing guest on and hole you have a laugh or two but no more than three. On this edition of the DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Podcast we travel back to 2016 for Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter biography of Blackjack Mulligan. Mulligan was a big, tough, cowboy heel and babyface who also booked around the country. He was a top star in the AWA, Jim Crockett Promotions, WWF, Florida, and more. He was also quite the out of the ring character who had street fights with Andre the Giant, Ole Anderson, and Dick Murdoch, got sent to prison for a couple of years, and was the father of Barry Windham, father-in-law to Mike Rotundo and the grandfather of Bo Dallas and the late Bray Wyatt. Join DragonKingKarl as he looks at Blackjack Mulligan through the pages of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

This episode is LOADED with news, notes, background history, fun anecdotes, a deep dive into the ENTIRE WWF roster leading into 87, and yes plenty of SOUNDBITES for your listening pleasure! Some of the topics discussed on this episode of the Grenade include...VINCE MCMAHON'S PILLAGING OF THE MONTREAL TERRITORY - The  WWF swoops in to take the remaining top stars of the Montreal territory including the Rougeau Brothers, Rick Martel, and Dino Bravo!THE HOT FEUDS OF 1986 - We discuss at length the hottest feuds of 1986 that carry over into the new year, including PIPER VS. While uncovering the full story of what took place aboard the U.S. Air Flight in 1987, I also uncovered several stories dating back to the 1970s including one of Neidhart leaping off a 4th story balcony with a Fire Extinguisher strapped to his back and swinging from 4 bed sheets tied together like Tarzan into a lower level apartment's plate glass window. Unbelievable! We're happy to welcome back Beau James (@kingofkingsport) to the show for another history lesson. First, we discuss the recent passing of Jim Crockett Jr, who ran Jim Crockett Promotions from 1973 until selling the company to Turner Broadcasting in 1988. JCP promoted in the Tri-Cities, when Beau saw his first live shows in the early 1980s. We talk about how Jim Crockett Sr promoted there before moving to North Carolina in the 1930s, the history of the Crocketts promoting the area off and on over the years, including once the Knoxville War ended in 1979 and eventually taking over the territory when it was sold by Ric Flair and Blackjack Mulligan. We also talk about them running in the late 1980s there, including a record-setting show in Kingsport in 1987. After that, we spend a good while talking about Ron Fuller's Southeastern Wrestling in Knoxville and Pensacola and Continental Championship Wrestling., including the 1977 time period Ron is currently discussing on his podcast and the 1980s stuff that will be part of the It's A Family Affair project, which you can find elsewhere on the website. All the names you would expect to hear are brought up: Ron Wright, Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden. Ron Garvin, the Mongolian Stomper and many more. Of course, plenty of other stuff too, as you would expect when Beau is on the show, including some baseball chat and an update on Beau's health issues. It's always great to talk to the King of Kingsport.
